
All he needs now is a full-time ride.
The Mobile native won the NASCAR K&N Pro East Series season finale last week at Dover International Speedway to give him three wins out of 12 races and finish second in the points standings.
He won three poles and finished in the top six 10 times in the NASCAR development series. And he isn’t even 18 years old yet.
Normally that would earn a driver a seat with a NASCAR Nationwide or Truck Series team. But these are not normal times.
At the beginning of the season team owner Joe Gibbs said he saw great promise in Wallace and hoped to get him in a Nationwide car as soon as he turned 18. Wallace drove this season for Revolution Racing but was also part of Gibbs’ driver development program.
But with sponsorships continuing to dry up, Wallace’s transition to one of NASCAR’s national series might not be so smooth.
