“The One Mile Oval Will Was Intense This Weekend”
Rockingham, NC (October 12, 2009) This past weekend was a busy one for Brett Butler and the LoanMax team as he competed in the two races at Rockingham Speedway on Saturday and Sunday. It started Saturday night with the USAR Pro Cup Series Aaron’s 150. This was the third race of the four race championship series. Brett came into this race in eighth place in the championship points. He was looking to move up in the points this week with a strong run at Rockingham. Those hopes would quickly come to an end for the LoanMax team.
Brett would qualify the No.1 Chevrolet in the 19th position for the Aaron’s 150. Just four laps into the race there was a crash involving the LoanMax car. The damage was severe enough to take Brett out of the race. He would finish the day with a disappointing 24th. This was his second DNF at Rockingham Speedway.
“It was a crazy weekend at Rockingham Speedway,” said Butler. “We just were not able to stay out of trouble in the Pro Cup race. I am extremely disappointed that we only got four laps in before something happened. That was a really tough day for the LoanMax team, because we have worked so hard to get where we were and to have something like that happen this close to the end of the season is tough.”
Sunday, Brett was hoping to turn things around and have a solid finish for the ARCA RE/MAX season finale in the American 200 at Rockingham Speedway.
After qualifying 33rd, the LoanMax team decided to make some adjustments to the No.1 Ford, and therefore had to start the race in the back of the large pack in 41st. This being the last race of the season, the racing was intense for the American 200. Brett would finish 24th with five laps down. As the checkered flag waved there would only be 15 cars on the lead lap.
After the Aaron’s 150 at Rockingham Speedway, Brett is now in 10th for the Championship points in the USAR Pro Cup Series.
Brett will return to the tracks on October 31st for the season finale in the USAR Pro Cup Series at South Boston. He will be behind the wheel of the No.1 LoanMax Chevrolet for the final race in the Championship Series.
