Has Demonstrated Improvements since First Event
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 18, 2010) - It may be Jennifer Jo Cobb’s second time racing at Martinsville Speedway, but don’t base any expectations on her inaugural run at the historic half-mile oval. Since the March event, Cobb’s No. 10 team has undergone key personnel changes, not to mention, gained valuable experience at several races since the first event.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series freshman team demonstrated how far they’ve come since March with their Nashville performances. In the first Nashville outing, Cobb finished 25th. Upon her return in August, Cobb drove to a 19th-place finish. Cobb hopes for similar improvements in this week’s Kroger 200.
Cobb Comments on Kroger 200:
“We were a completely different team when we made our first trip to Martinsville last March. At the time, our team roster was nothing like it is now. We’ve added Steve (Kuykendall) as our crew chief and hired a few key people as our mechanics. We’ve had time to work together and gel as an organization. When we first raced at Martinsville, our team didn’t have any short track experience. A lot has changed since then. We’re more prepared this time around. Because we know what to expect, our Driven Ford F-150 should be closer to what I need for the race. Now that I have a few laps under my belt at Martinsville, I’ll have a better feel for the track. Hopefully I can give better feedback and run more competitive lap times. Overall, I think our team is going to be a lot stronger. It’s amazing what a difference that eight months can make.
“One of the things that I learned from our last race is that first and foremost you have to survive. There are lots of chances to get into trouble at Martinsville. When you race in such close quarters, it’s not hard to bump into someone or get spun out. You’ve got to be aggressive, but you’ve got to be smart, too. There’s a time to when a driver needs to mix it up and go for it, but you can’t lose fact that you need to be around at the end.
“I really enjoyed my last race there. Martinsville is one of those tracks that is so important to NASCAR’s history and it’s an honor to be a part of the event. I can’t help but smile whenever I hop behind the wheel and hit the track.”
