Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Homestead-Miami Speedway – November 19, 2011

- Denny Hamlin (fifth) was the highest finishing Toyota driver in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

- Camry drivers Brian Scott (ninth) and Joey Logano (10th) also earned top-10 finishes in the 200-lap event.

- Other Toyota drivers in the field included Joe Nemechek (16th), Michael Annett (19th), Kevin Conway (26th), Kenny Wallace (33rd) and Steve Wallace (34th).

- Four Camry drivers finished among the top-10 in the unofficial NNS driver point standings — K. Wallace (seventh), Scott (eighth), Annett (ninth), and S. Wallace (10th).

- Camry drivers earned 10 wins and five pole positions during the 2011 season. Toyota has recorded 64 victories and 54 poles since joining the series in 2007.

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 5th

How was your race?

“We struggled with our race car all day long and we had very limited practice time with the rain. Just didn’t have it today. It looked like all of the Roush cars were extremely strong. We just didn’t have the car that could hang with them in the end.”

How happy were you with your pit crew in tonight’s race?

“Yeah, this pit crew gave us a shot at it, no doubt about it. They were just an amazing pit crew. When you can gain us three spots and a clutch position like that, they deserve a lot of credit. They’re the ones who gave us a shot at it anyway.”

How are you feeling going into the Sprint Cup race on Sunday after two races so far this weekend?

“Good. I feel like we’re making strides. We just have got to keep digging. We’re a little off right now. As an organization I feel like we need to be better. Obviously, we’ve got a ways to go, but just have to thank everyone from Z- Line Designs for putting me in the car and obviously this whole 18 team for putting me in. Jim and Monica (Sexton, Z- Line Design owners) have done a lot for this program. FedEx, Toyota, Coca-Cola, Gillette and Wiley X. Couldn’t do it without everyone.”

Did you think you had a chance to beat the 60 car tonight to give Joe Gibbs Racing the owner’s championship?

“Carl (Edwards) had an extremely strong car. It looked like all of their cars were really good today. We just struggled with our Z-Line Designs Toyota. We felt like for the most part we had a fifth to seventh-place car for most of the day. It’s kind of where we ended up. The pit crew did an amazing job at least giving me a shot at it there at the end. We just couldn’t hang on. We just didn’t have the car for it today.”

Were you unhappy with the way your car handled during the race?

“I wish we had some more practice time. We were banking on that second practice. We just didn’t get enough track time with this car this weekend. We struggled. We struggled all day and just could not get the speed out of it that we needed. We ended up fifth.”

BRIAN SCOTT, No. 11 Shore Lodge Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 9th

Are you happy finishing the year with a top-10?

“I’ll take a top-10 to end the year. We fought hard ever since Daytona. We didn’t have the performance or the results that we wanted until about the middle of the year. This team — we flipped the switch. Kevin (Kidd, crew chief) and I really got on the same page and we started having good runs. We were a pretty good team the second half of the year. Definitely performed the last quarter of the year with some top-five finishes, and got a pole at Chicago. We’re going to focus really on the last part of the year and continue to build and do the things that we started doing at the middle of the year that will make us better to come back in 2012 and be even stronger.

I don’t see any reason why this team can’t make the progress through the off-season and come back with the yellow and black Dollar General car and have a team good enough to run for the championship. I feel like Kevin Kidd (crew chief) and I have a relationship that is on really good terms. We’re really communicating well. We’re going to continue to work through the off-season just as hard — if not harder — than we worked all year. Come back and be a really strong team.”

JOEY LOGANO, No. 20 GameStop Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 10th

JOE NEMECHEK, No. 97 AM / FM Energy Pellet & Wood Stoves Toyota Camry, NEMCO Motorsports

Finishing Position: 16th

MICHAEL ANNETT, No. 62 Pilot Flying J Toyota Camry, Rusty Wallace Racing

Finishing Position: 19th

How would you look back at the 2011 season?

“Someone asked me the grade that I’d give this season — and I’d probably say a C+ — just because we started off so slow and behind. We made up a lot of ground throughout the summer and fell back behind it, and then made more gains. We know there are places we can make a lot of improvement in our program — mile-and-a-half tracks especially. So, that’s something we’re really going to work on in the off-season and come back on board with Rusty Wallace Racing and the No. 62. Hopefully, some more partners will come on board and help Steven’s (Wallace) car a little bit and that way can have a strong two car effort after the off-season.”

KEVIN CONWAY, No. 87 Extenze Toyota Camry, NEMCO Motorsports

Finishing Position: 25th

KENNY WALLACE, No. 09 Federated Auto Parts Toyota Camry, RAB Racing with Brack Maggard

Finishing Position: 33rd

STEVE WALLACE, No. 66 5-Hour Energy Toyota Camry, Rusty Wallace Racing

Finishing Position: 34th

Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway

No. 20 GameStop Toyota News, Notes & Paint Scheme:

· LOGANO LOOKING FOR DUEL JGR BURNOUTS IN HOMESTEAD: Joey Logano has had the chance before. In his rookie season of 2008, the youngster took part in a duel burnout celebration with then NASCAR Nationwide Series Champion Clint Bowyer when Logano piloted the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota to a 10th-place finish and a clinch of the 2008 Nationwide Series Owner’s Championship. This weekend, Logano hopes to partake in a duel burnout situation at Homestead once again. This time however, he hopes his burnout is the result of a checkered flag win for the No. 20 GameStop Toyota in the season-finale Nationwide Series event, while the other burnout is that of his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin in the No. 18 JGR Toyota, clinching what would be the team’s fourth-straight Nationwide Series Owner’s Championship. Logano’s fourth-place finish last week in Phoenix behind the wheel of the No. 18 GameStop Toyota means the No. 18 team holds a one-point lead over the No. 60 heading into the season-finale this weekend at Homestead.

· PDP AND AFTERGLOW HOPE TO “LIGHT UP” HOMESTEAD EVENING: Performance Designed Products (PDP) and its Afterglow brand of video game controllers will ride along with the No. 20 GameStop Toyota this weekend in Homestead. PDP is an industry leader in designing and manufacturing products for all major video game platforms including the Sony PS2, PS3, PSP, Nintendo DS and Wii, and Microsoft Xbox 360, as well as a line of accessories for the Apple iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, and Android-based phones. The company has been supplying video game accessories to the U.S. market for more than a decade. PDP’s AFTERGLOW™ line of controllers features an array of LED lights that shine through the clear casing and can be turned on and off, or set to light up when the controller vibrates. PDP’s AFTERGLOW™ line includes controllers for the Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3.

· LOGANO A FRONT-RUNNER AT HOMESTEAD: With the NASCAR Nationwide Series visiting Homestead-Miami Speedway only once per season, Logano’s stats at the track aren’t mind-blowing. But he’s made all three of his visits to the 1.5-mile South Florida track count. Logano has twice started from the pole at Homestead (2008 and 2010) and has led laps in each of his three starts at the track (21 laps led in 2008, 13 in 2009 and 17 in 2010). Logano’s best career finish at Homestead came in 2009, when he finished fourth. In fact, according to NASCAR Statistics, Logano’s average running position under green-flag conditions at Homestead-Miami Speedway is an impressive 5.9. He also leads all drivers with an average starting position of 2.0.

· BATTLE OF NASCAR FAMILIES… AND LOGANO SET FOR HOMESTEAD: On Saturday, Joey will participate in an event featuring the new NASCAR video game, NASCAR Unleashed, at Homestead. The event is all part of the “Battle of the NASCAR Kids” competition. NASCAR drivers’ children will compete against one another for pride and glory. As their dads coach and their moms manage them, these kids will race for first place and the honor of being crowned the first ever “Battle of the NASCAR Kids” champion. The event aims to bring together NASCAR families and ultimately raise money for charities, with each participating family donating $5,000 to a charity of their choice. Post race all the racers will band together to hand a check to The NASCAR Foundation for $25,000 from Activision. As part of the event, Logano will pick two lucky raffle ticket wild card racers from the audience, and he’ll coach them while playing in the tournament and trying to win a cool $5,000.

· CHASSIS: The No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team will bring car #127 to the track this weekend. The car has raced in two events this season, at Michigan and again at Charlotte, where Logano was set for a top-three finish before an accident with just a handful of laps to go.

· STAT OF THE WEEK: 2.0. Logano’s average starting position at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Despite only running in three races at Homestead during the course of his career, Logano has qualified 1st, 4th and 1st in his three visits.

· THE RACE: The Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway (Homestead, FL; 1.5-mile oval) is set for Saturday afternoon, November 19, 2011. The race will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 4:30 p.m. ET, with radio coverage on MRN starting at 4 p.m. ET.

Joey Logano - Photo Credit: Rusty Jarrett / Getty Images for NASCAR

Joey Logano Quotes:

“It’s hard to believe that it’s the end of the season already and we are getting ready to run Homestead. It seems like just yesterday that we were unloading the GameStop Toyota at Daytona for the opener and thinking that we had a shot for a really good season. And now, here we are almost ready for another off season. We’ve had a lot of fun this year in the Nationwide Series. It’s been a struggle at times in figuring out these new Nationwide Series cars, but we’ve had some really good runs. We won at Daytona, which was huge for me and for the entire team. We almost won and finished second at Talladega and Bristol. We were right there at Watkins Glen. There have been plenty of ups and downs along the way. It’s also been great working with Adam (Stevens) all year. It’s been a lot of fun to see him go from being an Engineer on the Cup side to a Crew Chief over on the Nationwide side. And getting to work with guys like ‘Sib,’ ‘Rudy,’ and Joel, some of the guys I kind of came up through the racing ranks with again has been a lot of fun as well. It’s also been great to spend a few races with Jason (Ratcliff) this season. As a driver, you try to take as much knowledge from as many people as you can and that is what getting to work with Jason has allowed me to do this year. Between Adam, Jason and Zippy (Cup Crew Chief Greg Zipadelli), I’ve picked up a lot of valuable information this year.

“Homestead is a fun track. It’s one of those places where you can run just about anywhere and can move around to make your can handle better. You can go up top and run right near the wall or you can run near the bottom and take the short way around. It’s a lot of fun either way and gives you a lot of options as far as setting up the car. It’s really just about as fun as it is on the video game too. When I play the new NASCAR 2011 game in my motor home during the weekend, I often race my friends at Homestead. It’s just a lot of run in real life or on the game.

“It’s been a great year with GameStop and I’m looking forward to this weekend. We’ve got a big event with the new NASCAR Unleashed game and maybe one of my wild card picks will win $5,000. And the car this weekend looks great with PDP and Afterglow controllers on it. We’ve had some really cool games and really cool cars this year. The Batman, Wipeout, Captain America and Call of Duty cars were all really awesome this year. I’ll never get tired of driving for GameStop and the way they market themselves. They have to be one of the coolest sponsors out there, and I’m proud to represent them.”

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Texas Motor Speedway – November 5, 2011

- Denny Hamlin (second) was the highest finishing Toyota driver in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Texas Motor Speedway.

- Camry driver Joey Logano (eighth) also earned a top-10 finish in the 350-mile event.

- Kenny Wallace (13th) set a NNS record by making his 520th-career series start in Saturday’s race.

- Other Toyota drivers in the field included Brian Scott (12th), Steve Wallace (18th), Michael Annett (20th) and Joe Nemechek (21st).

- Four Camry drivers are among the top-10 in the unofficial NNS driver point standings — K. Wallace (seventh), Scott (eighth), S. Wallace (ninth) and Annett (10th).

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 18 Z-Line Designs Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 2nd

What happened on the final restart?

“Yeah, we didn’t get the best restart there and those guys on the outside line really had an advantage and they were able to
pull us and just took us that long to get back to them. Took a long time to get this car where I felt like I wanted it and at the
end we had a car that could contend for a win and that’s all you can ask for.”

What is it like jumping in a car for the first time on race day?

“It was a tough day. It’s very tough to get into someone’s car. Any of these drivers that have been in someone else’s car at one moment or time during testing and it’s just — when things don’t fit, you’re exactly right and we have such a different stature and size and everything like that and driving style, it’s hard to make it work. But, we worked through it and by the end of the day we had a car that was capable of winning. We’ll take that.”

When did you find out you were going to race in today’s event?

“This morning, you know last night, this morning it was — we figured something was going on. I just got in the car this morning just in case and got fitted for it and that was it.”

What is your reaction to NASCAR’s actions today?

“It’s a tough spot. I think we’ve seen stuff like that. If you read my Twitter account, I think that what happened last night happened a lot last week and it’s happened all year, but obviously the stakes are a little higher when you have a championship contender and speeds are up and it’s under caution. All those things I think formulated into it and I feel like NASCAR felt probably a little pressure from fans and things like that to make a decision and they made what they thought was correct. It’s tough for everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing because I know that the whole No. 18 team works extremely hard to get to the position that they’re in and to have a chance at a good finishing points position kind of taken away at the end, it’s
tough for them. It’s tough for everyone at Gibbs.”

Will you think twice before dumping somebody in the future?

“I don’t know really where the line is. Like I said, there’s not much different than what happened last week. There was a lot of incidents very, very similar that took guys out and things like that. I’m still — I don’t know where the line is. It’s not going to be a defined line — it’s going to be their judgment call and what they say goes. We’ve got to realize that if we make a decision, a bad decision and decide to retaliate it could be, our future could be in NASCAR’s hands. We have to realize that.”

Would you race more Nationwide Series races this year if asked?

“I’ll do whatever I need to do. Obviously running his truck last week and his car this week — I’ll do whatever it takes to fill in the gaps where need be. We’ll just go from here.”

How will not having Kyle Busch in Sunday’s race affect you?

“It changes the complexion for us because he’s one of the guys I use every weekend for information and help tune our race car. Obviously Michael (McDowell) is in a tough spot trying to just get in that race car and go racing and be competitive. We obviously rely a lot on the information that we get from our other two crew chiefs and drivers. With one kind of being a big variable now, you kind of have to take it with a grain of salt. We’ll have to figure things out and kind of do it on our own for the most part this week.”

JOEY LOGANO, No. 20 GameStop Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 8th

How was your race today?

“Terrible. It sucked. We ran like crap. We were just sideways all day — really loose no matter what we did. Tried to make it better and as we tightened it up, we just killed the aero platform, which takes overall grip away, so even balanced right we were still slow. It was frustrating.”

BRIAN SCOTT, No. 11 Shore Lodge Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 12th

How was your race today?

“I thought we had just an okay day. We ran just top-10 most the day — a little bit outside of it. We used pit stops to try to make our car better. We kind of went the wrong direction on one of them when we first put stickers on and we learned from it. We made some adjustment and I thought we were going to have a good day. Just so-so. (Elliott) Sadler moved up on us on the last pit stop and caved in our left front fender and we fell back a couple of positions and finished 12th, which should have been a top-10 day. Overall, just kind of nothing spectacular and nothing disastrous. Just had a day.”

KENNY WALLACE, No. 09 G-Oil Camry, RAB Racing

Finishing Position: 13th

How was your race today?

“It was a decent race. It wasn’t a bad race by any means. For my 520th start, you want to have a competitive race. You don’t want to embarrass yourself, so 13th was okay. You know we’re really working hard on staying seventh in the points racing Brian Scott and my nephew, Steven (Wallace). A lot of emotion was put in to that last restart to get my lap back. Took some chances and it worked out and 13th is okay. It’s not great, but it’s okay and move on to Phoenix now and end this year in the next couple of races.”

How do you feel about breaking the NNS starts record with 520 starts?

“Well, I’ve been consistent in all of my comments and I haven’t been ‘wishy-washy.’ I still am thankful for my 10 years in the Cup Series with 344 starts. I’m learning all these stats now. To have been able to make a living my whole life has been a dream come true. It’s no different than in the media center I see a lot of you here and I’ve seen y’all come and I’ve seen you go and I’ve very grateful to have come out of Arnold, Missouri and if you would have told me that you can make a living in NASCAR and that’s all you’re ever going to do — I mean, I’ve made a living driving a race car my whole life and it looks like I will retire racing cars for a living. That’s perspective that I can put it into. I’m thrilled to death. I’m grateful to all the car owners that have given me rides and I’m really excited about today’s race. We’ve got a points battle going on for the seventh spot and it’s been like that my whole career, all types of little races.”

STEVE WALLACE, No. 66 5-Hour Energy, Rusty Wallace Racing

Finishing Position: 18th

MICHAEL ANNETT, No. 62 Pilot Flying J Camry, Rusty Wallace Racing

Finishing Position: 20th

JOE NEMECHEK, No. 87 NEMCO Motorsports Camry, NEMCO Motorsports

Finishing Position: 21st

O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway

No. 20 GameStop Toyota News, Notes & Paint Scheme:

· LOGANO LOOKS TO STILL GET DRESSED UP, EVEN AFTER HALLOWEEN: Joey Logano went to a few Halloween parties in the past week. He dressed up as movie star/comedian Russell Brand at one of them. At another, he was Lloyd Christmas, also known as half of the pairing from the movie Dumb and Dumber (the other half was roommate Coleman Pressley). At Texas Motor Speedway, Logano will hope to dress up as a victorious cowboy. That’s because the winner of any race at Texas is rewarded a cowboy hat in Victory Lane. And Logano will be looking for his first Texas Motor Speedway cowboy hat this weekend as he returns to the seat of the No. 20 GameStop Toyota in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. And Logano has been close before; last year, Logano finished second to teammate Kyle Busch in the spring race. He also has three career fourth-place finishes at Texas, including earlier this season. Along with his four-career top-five finishes, Logano has also recorded a pole at the 1.5-mile track.

· BIGGEST GAME OF THE YEAR: CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 3 : What might be one of the biggest and most highly- anticipated games of the season will ride on the side of the No. 20 GameStop Toyota this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Modern Warfare is back. The best-selling first person action series of all-time returns with the epic sequel to multiple Game of the Year award winner, Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare 2. Prepare yourself for a cinematic thrill-ride as only Call of Duty can deliver. Engage enemy forces in New York, Paris, Berlin and other attack sites across the globe. Special Ops returns with a bevy of additions, including 16 new objective-based missions and the all-new Survival Mode. Team up online, locally, or play solo and face endless waves of attacking enemies throughout every multiplayer map. Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare 3 hits store shelves November 8th and will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

· FOLLOW GAMESTOP RACING ON TWITTER, FIND STUFF AT THE TRACK: This weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, and next weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, fans who are in attendance at the track and follow GameStop Racing on Twitter (@GameStopRacing) will have the chance to find and win cool stuff, including hats, shirts and maybe even some video games. The GameStop team will be doing an “at-track scavenger hunt” at Texas and Phoenix, giving out hints as to where different prizes are located around the facilities. All it takes is being in attendance and also a follow on Twitter. And anyone, from fans to team members to media members can get the free stuff… just find it first.

· BACK HOME AGAIN, IN INDIANA WE MEAN TEXAS: Race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway always means a little more to Joey Logano and the No. 20 GameStop team. That’s because TMS is the home track for the corporate offices of GameStop, long-time sponsor of the No. 20 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing and Logano. GameStop is headquartered in Grapevine, Texas, just a short drive from the racetrack. GameStop is the world’s largest video game and software entertainment retailer and has been a supporter of Logano and the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota since he made his debut at Dover International Speedway in 2008.

· LOGANO FEELING GOOD ABOUT 1.5-MILE TRACKS: Of Logano’s nine-career NASCAR Nationwide Series victories, six have come on tracks that equal 1.5-miles in length (seven if you count the 1.33-mile Nashville Superspeedway). But this season, Logano and the No. 20 GameStop team have admittedly struggled on 1.5-mile tracks. Logano pointed to the new NASCAR Nationwide Series car and the team just looking to continue to figure it out and make their cars as competitive as possible. A couple of weeks ago at Charlotte, Logano and the JGR team made huge strides in their 1.5-mile program, qualifying third and running in the top-three all night long before getting involved in a late-race accident. After the race, Logano indicated that it was the best car on a 1.5-mile track he’s had all season long. And with two of the final three events on the schedule 1.5-mile tracks, Logano is feeling good.

· CHASSIS: The JGR team will bring chassis #136 to Texas for the race this weekend. It will be the first race of the year for the chassis. Chassis #132 will serve as the team’s backup.

· STAT OF THE WEEK: 95.4. In the last 13 races at Texas Motor Speedway, Logano has found himself running in the top-15 for 95.4% of the laps he’s competed in. That mark is higher than any other active driver during that span of races.

· THE RACE: The O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway (Ft. Worth, TX; 1.5-mile tri-oval) is set for Saturday afternoon, November 5, 2011. The race will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 12:55 p.m. ET, with radio coverage on PRN starting at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Joey Logano - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

Joey Logano Quotes:

“Texas has always been a strong track for us, even though our record doesn’t show it. Our average finish position there is like an eighth, but it really should be even better than that. We just missed winning a race there last season and we’ve finished fourth a bunch. But we had better cars than those fourth-place runs were. Pit strategy and other problems have kept us from a couple of wins at the track I think. So going into the weekend, I know this is a place we should be able to run up front at. And after our run at Charlotte, which is similar in size and shape to Texas, I feel even more confident. I’m looking for a good weekend in Texas.

“It’s no secret that we’ve not been as strong on the 1.5-mile tracks this year as we have in the past. But the entire Joe Gibbs Racing organization has been working hard at making our stuff better and we really showed it in Charlotte. I thought we were one of the two or three best cars at Charlotte. Unfortunately, we had another run in with a competitor that we’ve tangled with this year and that took us out of contention. But our GameStop Toyota was fast at Charlotte and I think we will be just as good at Texas. I know the guys were talking about Texas all weekend long in Charlotte and making sure everything we did there carried over to here.

“Texas is always important too because GameStop is just down the road and one of the things I really want to do is get them in Victory Lane right here at their home track. We’ve been close, so getting that little bit more out of it and having all of the guests that they normally bring to the track get to celebrate would be huge. We normally have a lot of executives come to this race, so we’ll ready to go. Plus, we are promoting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 this weekend, which is one of the biggest selling games of the year for GameStop. That would be a huge plus to get them in Victory Lane. They just told me that the entire Call of Duty series of games have sold nearly 95 million copies since it started. That is huge. So to get this Call of Duty car into Victory Lane would get a lot of extra attention.”

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Charlotte Motor Speedway – October 14, 2011

- Kyle Busch (second) was the highest finishing Toyota driver in Friday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

- Busch’s finish marked his 12th top-five result at Charlotte in 17 career NNS starts at the speedway.

- Camry driver Brian Scott also earned a top-five result with a fifth-place finish in the 200-lap race — his second top-five finish this season in the Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) No. 11 Camry.

- Camry drivers Steve Wallace (13th), Kenny Wallace (16th), Michael Annett (17th), Joey Logano (19th), Ryan Truex (34th), Kevin Conway (36th) and Joe Nemechek (37th) were also in the field at the mile-and-a-half oval.

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 2nd

How was your race car tonight?

“It was really good on long runs. Slow on short runs — didn’t have enough under the hood to keep up. Got out-motored on that last restart and finished second.”

What did it mean to run strong at a mile-and-a-half track after struggling earlier this season?

“We were really excited to have the opportunity to be up there. Mile-and-a-half tracks have not been our greatest tracks this year, but we’ve come a long way. I’m really proud of this team — this Z-Line Designs team and everyone at Joe Gibbs Racing. You know, we had a shot at it there and if we did everything right tonight the one thing that we struggled with a little bit is still the restarts. I think it’s just a product of horsepower, or you know whatever. And, those guys have been really good all year in that category. Kyle (Busch) did a great job all night. I don’t think he got beat there from a talent standpoint, obviously. He drove a phenomenal race. Just for us to be up there and be close and be in the fray is great. It was
a good night for us. Unfortunately, we came up one short. But, I’m really proud of Kyle and what he did and proud of this race team.”

What seems to be so tough at these mile-and-a-half tracks?

“It seems like we just always finish third at these mile-and-a-half tracks. These Dodges and Fords just seem really strong and they’ve got some of their set-ups figured out. We’ve been working hard on our set-up to get it better. I think we showed tonight that we did. I think at one point we had all three of our Joe Gibbs (Racing) cars in the top-seven and they were all three running strong. We just didn’t need to see the caution. Once we got the thing wound up and got it going, we could run with anybody, but we needed that clean air at the end and the 60 (Carl Edwards) got in front of us – it takes so much to get by him, especially on cold tires like that. If we had 10 more laps, who knows, maybe Kyle (Busch) drove up there and gave him
a little more run for his money. Just not enough laps left to get it done.”

BRIAN SCOTT, No. 11 Doosan Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 5th

How was your race tonight?

“We started off really not where we wanted to, but we were able to hang out right near the top-10. The pit crew did a great job always moving us forward on spots. Kevin (Kidd, crew chief) did good adjustments and that just kept us in the hunt until we could get our car right. Towards the end of the race we had our car pretty good and we were able to gain some more positions and have some more good pit stops. We just kept working towards the front from about the middle of the race on and we made it count at the end when it mattered. That was great and we were able to bring home a top-five for Doosan and it was great to have them on the car. They are such a terrific partner at Joe Gibbs Racing and our Camry was just fast when it counted. That’s all that matters.”

How much momentum does your team have following this run?

“We’ve had some really good runs lately. We’ve ran up there the last — seems like five races. We haven’t really finished up there a couple times — Kansas comes to mind and Dover comes to mind. We’re capable of running up there and now we’re getting more finishes up there. We’ve got a lot of strength with this team and we’re going to end this year really strong and we’re going to go into next year representing Dollar General and try to win them a championship.”

STEVE WALLACE, No. 66 5-Hour Energy Toyota Camry, Rusty Wallace Racing

Finishing Position: 13th

KENNY WALLACE, No. 09 Thank You Fans! Toyota Camry, RAB Racing with Brack Maggard

Finishing Position: 16th

MICHAEL ANNETT, No. 62 Pilot Flying J Toyota Camry, Rusty Wallace Racing

Finishing Position: 17th

JOEY LOGANO, No. 20 GameStop Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 19th

How was your race car tonight and what happened when you hit the wall?

“We had a solid, strong top-five car. We could run third at times, fourth at times and we got up to second there for a little bit. Carl (Edwards) was really fast there at the end. I was doing everything I could to hold him off — I was doing anything. Since he got to the outside of me and the 6 (Ricky Stenhouse Jr.) was following him and he just went in right on my door — right on my door. I just lost control of it and spun it out — well, I didn’t spin it out — I just put it in the wall. Unfortunately — we were better than that. We were making progress because we haven’t been this good lately. We’ll take it.”

What happened between you and Kyle Busch on a mid-race restart?

“I was wanting a one-two finish there and was trying to get him. At times I was better than Kyle (Busch) and then Kyle got pretty good throughout the race and got his car a little bit better than mine. We were pretty close to each other all day. I think our 20 team has made progress over the last few weeks here and making our car better. Obviously, I don’t have the finish to show it today, but I think we ran definitely a lot better than what we have been so we’ll take that.”

Do you think Kyle Busch was mad at you from that restart?

“I don’t think Kyle (Busch) is mad at me. The only thing that bummed him out was that he was leading the race and the caution came out that cost him the win. I didn’t want to wreck my car so it hurt me worse even. It’s a bummer that we lost a win for Joe Gibbs Racing, but we’re doing all we can do. Just trying hard.”

RYAN TRUEX, No. 99 Toyota Camry, Pastrana-Waltrip Racing

Finishing Position: 34th

What happened that took you out of the race?

“I just blew a tire — out of nowhere with no warning or anything. We just blew a right front. I hate it for these guys. They worked so hard to get this car built and now it’s wrecked. Frustrating night. We had a motor problem right from the start of the race. We were down on power. I don’t know what happened. I don’t know if we broke a valve spring or what. We were way down on power so I would have to run the outside just to keep up with those guys. We were in for a long night either way and unfortunately we came up short.”

KEVIN CONWAY, No. 87 Extenze Toyota Camry, NEMCO Motorsports

Finishing Position: 36th

JOE NEMECHEK, No. 97 AM / FM Energy Pellet & Wood Stove Toyota Camry, NEMCO Motorsports

Finishing Position: 37th

Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage at Charlotte Motor Speedway

No. 20 GameStop Toyota News, Notes & Paint Scheme:

· “BEAST OF THE SOUTHEAST” A FEAST (OR FAMINE) FOR LOGANO: Joey Logano has said it before. Ask him on any given weekend and he’ll tell you the same answer. What is his favorite track? It’s Charlotte Motor Speedway. Logano will make the seventh NASCAR Nationwide Series start of his career at Charlotte on Friday night in the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage. Logano’s previous track record at Charlotte has been feast or famine. In six previous starts, Logano has scored three top-five finishes and three top-10s. His best career finish came in the spring race last season where he crossed the line in third place. Logano also has finishes of fourth and fifth at the track. In the spring race this season, Logano started 11th and finished 11th. His other two finishes at the track have both been 14th place efforts.

· “BIG GAME HUNTER” FOR THE BIG RACE: Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 will ride with Logano and primary sponsor GameStop on track at Charlotte Motor Speedway. With the world as their playground, players will explore a vast expanse of mountains and valleys with unprecedented choices in direction never before seen in a Cabela’s hunting game. Players can climb an area to get a better angle for the shot but risk being spotted, or they can take a low elevation route with poor visibility but plenty of concealment. In order to bag the trophies, players will have to avoid detection through cunning, skill, and deception. They must also utilize master hunting skills such as advanced stalking techniques so they can quickly move through cover and close in on their targets. With new multiplayer modes, gamers can enjoy playing with friends and family. Up to four people can take turns, work together or challenge each other in different arcade shooting galleries. With new modes such as Reflex and Target Shooting, Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 has enough fun to keep players hunting with friends for a long time! The game was released on Sept. 27 and is available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii video game consoles.

· EPIC REWARD FOR GAMESTOP EPIC REWARD WINNER: Joey Logano and the No. 20 GameStop team will have a special guest this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Shari and George Stettner of Texas will head to Charlotte for winning the NASCAR experience as part of GameStop’s PowerUp Rewards program. The PowerUp Rewards program rewards the most passionate of GameStop gamers by offering savings on purchases while also providing members-only specials, discounts and news emailed directly to users. Shari and George will come to Charlotte, have a private tour of the Joe Gibbs Racing shops, go go-karting with Joey and the entire No. 20 GameStop team, visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame, attending Joe Gibbs Racing’s Fan Fest, and get a chance to watch the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage up close by sitting on the pit box of the No. 20 team for Friday night’s event. Other Epic Reward winners have gotten tank driving experiences, trips to Rome, a behind the scenes look at Comic-Con and private tours of various video game companies.

· BACK HOME AGAIN… WITH THE No. 20: Logano spent the last three NASCAR Nationwide Series events behind the wheel of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota in an effort to help that team win the Nationwide Series Owner’s Championship. This weekend, Logano returns to the seat of the car he’s most accustomed to driving in the Nationwide Series, the No. 20 GameStop Toyota. He will also be back with his regular crew, led by Crew Chief Adam Stevens, who last week guided rookie Ryan Truex to a 10th place finish at Kansas Speedway.

· CHASSIS: The JGR team will bring chassis #127 to Charlotte for the Dollar General 300. The car has raced just one other time this year, coming back at Michigan International Speedway, where Logano finished sixth. Chassis #132 will serve as the team’s backup.

· STAT OF THE WEEK: 17,000. In all likelihood, Logano will surpass the $3,000,000 career earnings plateau this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Logano needs a little more than $17,000 to become a $3,000,000 man.

· THE RACE: The Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, NC; 1.5-mile tri-oval) is set for Friday night, Oct. 14, 2011. The race will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 7:30 p.m. ET, with radio coverage on PRN starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Joey Logano - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

Joey Logano Quotes:

“Charlotte is always a crazy week. Not only is there a lot going on at the track, but being ‘home’ for everyone, there are plenty of things going on away from the track and that really keeps you busy. This is one of those weeks that you need to find a good balance between doing your stuff away from the track and also focusing on the job at hand when you get in the car. And it’s not just like that for me, it’s like that for all of the guys. It’s a lot of fun to be close to home and to get to sleep in your own bed at night, but you’ve got to focus more this week than any other really.

“As a driver, you always get asked by fans and media what your favorite track is and Charlotte is always my answer. A lot of guys will say it’s a track they’ve won at a lot or a track they are always running up front or maybe a track that is close to their hometown, but I just love Charlotte. The track is unique and it changes so much during the course of a race. There are always several different lines and grooves that work their way in during the race and you’ve got to be able to move your car around to match the way it’s handling. It’s fast, but you really need to focus on handling here. The restarts can be crazy too. Overall, it’s just a fun track to race on and we have such great fan support here.

“One of my off-track activities this week will be visiting with the GameStop Epic Rewards winner which will be a lot of fun. Last year, the guy that was here had a blast doing all of the stuff they got to do. This year, we’re doing the same thing. Getting to race against them in go-karts is a lot of fun. Plus, I love racing karts and I’ll take all of the extra track time I can get. But really, it’s just great to be able to bring someone to the track who doesn’t really get the chance to see what goes on behind the scenes and watch them enjoy it all. It’s a great reward if you ask me. When I was a kid, I would have loved to have won something like that.”

With just three laps to go, Logano found himself and his No. 20 GameStop Toyota on the rear bumper of Busch. With two to go, Logano pulled side-by-side with Busch. And as the white flag flew, Logano and Busch raced side-by-side around the high-banked half-mile track to the delight of the crowd. However, at the checkers, it was Busch edging Logano by a mere 0.019 seconds at the finish, the closest finish at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The Race Recap: Logano and the No. 20 GameStop team found themselves just a couple of hundredths of a second off all day long at Bristol Motor Speedway. In qualifying, Logano was edged out for the pole by Busch by just 0.02 seconds, marking an all JGR front row. As the green flew, Busch and Logano pulled away from the field, running one-two for the race’s first 50 laps. Logano briefly fell back to third but found himself running second and running down Busch. Logano fell victim to the dreaded “inside line” multiple times during the race. Following several caution flag periods, Logano constantly found himself restarting on the inside line, which was not the preferred line on restarts. Logano fell to third, then to fifth and all the way back to seventh on various restarts.

However, each time he fell back, Logano’s No. 20 GameStop Toyota proved one of the fastest on the track, passing several cars in his march back to the front. Logano was fourth when a late-race caution flew. Adam Stevens, Logano’s Crew Chief, made the call for Logano to stay out on the track, giving him the lead as the three cars in front of him pitted. Logano held onto the lead for 12 laps before giving it up to Busch, who had fresher tires. Logano and Busch distanced themselves from the field as the laps wound down. With 10 laps remaining and a one-second lead for Busch, Logano began running his JGR teammate down. With five laps to go, Logano found himself on Busch’s bumper. With two to go, Logano made his move and the two teammates raced side-by-side as the white flag flew. Logano ran Busch up the track and the pair bumped on the final corner as they raced to the checkers. In what was nearly a dead heat, Busch was able to beat Logano back to the line by a mere 0.019 seconds, marking the closest finish in Bristol Motor Speedway history since the introduction of the electronic timing and scoring system.

Joey Logano - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

Joey’s Quotes: “Man, it’s just so frustrating to be that close to the win and not to be able to get it. There is nothing to be upset about though. That was a great night right there for Joe Gibbs Racing. We qualified one-two, ran one-two for a lot of laps and finished one-two. But man, it really sucks to be that close to the win, especially here at Bristol, and to come home second. To be able to even compete with Kyle here at Bristol, where he is so good, just goes to show you how good of a car this GameStop Toyota was tonight. But it is frustrating to be that close to the win, just a couple of inches, and to sit here as the second-place finisher. I did all I could to try and use him up without wrecking him and try to get the win. And that was fun. Those are the races that are the most fun. I could have easily have just moved him up the track, but that always takes a little bit away from the win. When you can run hard and close, rub doors and see smoke flying and cross the line side-by-side, that is a lot of fun right there. I just wish we were the ones celebrating on the front stretch and in Victory Lane. I really want to get GameStop a win before the year is out.

“We had a good GameStop Toyota all day long. We weren’t great in practice, but we knew we would have a good car for the race. We just got beat out for the pole but Kyle, go figure. We started second and ran there a good part of the race. There were definitely three really good cars out there tonight, the 18 (Busch), the 33 (Clint Bowyer) and us. We were the class of the field for sure. Our biggest problem is that every time the caution would come out, we would be in second or third or fifth and we would have to restart the race on the inside line and that is hard. The outside is such a preferred grove around this track, especially on the restarts.

There is no way you can’t lose one or two positions if you are on the inside on a restart unless the guy outside of you makes a mistake and you can get clear. We fell all the way back to seventh there at one point. But the car was good and we were able to race back to the front. Then, Adam made a good call to stay out there on old tires when everyone else pitted to get track position. We didn’t have anything to lose and we knew our car was fast. So that allowed Kyle and me to race for the win.

“I really thought we were going to have a shot to win. Kyle pulled out the lead, but as he was lapping traffic, you could tell the handle on his car was going away a little bit and he was catching lapped cars, so we were able to make up some big ground. My spotter Mark (Robertson) was on the radio telling me to go and get him and Adam was cheering me on. I just drove as hard as I could those last 10 laps. I got right up to his bumper and I had a good corner and was able to get under him. We raced side-by-side and I tried to use him up without wrecking him in that last corner. You can’t wreck your teammate no matter what. Coming off the corner, I thought I had the momentum to get him, but then he just pulled ahead by a couple of inches. Man, it was so close. I was just looking at his car and I knew that he had just got me. But it was fun either way. What a great night for GameStop and for JGR. And congrats on Kyle on his big win. That is an impressive feat he just accomplished there. Now, maybe I’ll start racking up the wins and catch him.”

What’s Next: The No. 20 GameStop Toyota and Logano won’t be back together until Kansas Speedway in October.

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Bristol Motor Speedway – August 26, 2011

- Camry driver Kyle Busch won Friday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Tennessee’s Bristol Motor Speedway. Busch crossed the finish line .019 seconds ahead of his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Joey Logano marking the closest finish in Bristol history.

- Busch’s win marked his 50th career NNS race win in 219 career starts — becoming the leader in all-time wins in the series.

- Tonight’s win marked the third consecutive NNS win for Busch at the half-mile bullring.

- Busch started tonight’s race from the pole and led a total of 186 (of 250 laps). Logano led once for 12 laps.

- Michael Annett (sixth) and Brian Scott (10th) also finished in the top-10 for Toyota

- Camry drivers Steve Wallace (14th), David Reutimann (20th), Joe Nemechek (21st), Kevin Conway (29th) and Kenny Wallace (36th) were also in the field.

- Five Camry drivers are currently in the top-15 in the unofficial NNS point standings following 25 of 34 races in the 2011 season — K. Wallace (seventh), S. Wallace (eighth), Scott (ninth), Annett (10th) and Nemechek (14th).

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 1st

What did you think of the battle with Joey Logano in the closing laps?

“I don’t know where he (Joey Logano) came from to be honest with you. I don’t know where Joey came from, but he had a rocket ship there at the end. I just kept getting a little bit looser and a little bit looser the more we ran there. Had to protect the bottom there a little bit there and we just kept rolling the bottom because he wanted it. I thought that maybe the top wasgoing to win the thing — just trying to pinch him down a little bit. He used me up right here through three and four. I’m sure the fans loved. I’m sure they wanted to see him win too, anybody but Kyle (Busch).”

How does it feel to win 50 Nationwide races?

“It’s awesome. We had Mark (Martin) with us there in Loudon (N.H.) and just a phenomenal way to be able to win 49 races and tie Mark Martin and then to come here and be able to beat his record at Bristol — one of my favorite places and one of the teams’ favorite places. Certainly, an awesome race tonight. We had a great race car. Clint (Bowyer) I thought was going to get us and he was going to be the one we would have to beat. Turned out I had to race Joey (Logano), my own teammate there. Those guys had a great race car — congratulations to the GameStop guys. They had a really nice car. Can’t say enough about Toyota, Nationwide Insurance for coming along in this series with us — Gillette, Marquis Jets and the fans.
We love to come out here — we love it and we love to get to victory lane powered by NOS and going to be here all weekend.”

What were you thinking on the final lap?

“I knew his spotter (Joey Logano’s) was going to tell him, ‘use him up through three and four.’ So I planned on it and I knew he was coming. I was just hoping that the top side with the momentum would help me drag race to the start-finish line and beat him. We beat him just by a little bit so a little bit is all that matters.”

Do they need to name a grandstand after you at Bristol?

“One of these days.”

Where does breaking Mark Martin’s record rank in your accomplishments?

“There’s an awful lot of accomplishments and it’s hard to pinpoint exactly where they fall. Certainly tonight’s a pretty big one. Just being able to race that hard and race against a teammate like that, knowing that he had just as good of stuff as I did. To barely beat him there at the end — if there was two more laps he probably would have got me. It was only 250 (laps) tonight so that was all we needed. Certainly, it was great to have Mark (Martin) with us in victory lane in Loudon (N.H.) and take some photos with him for tying him. Tonight was our night. Being able to beat him and get atop the all-time win list in the Nationwide Series was special for us as a team and for me as a driver and Samantha (Busch, wife) as well. This is cool and hopefully we can come back and perform again tomorrow night and do the same thing.”

Do you prefer a close battle or to run away with a win?

“I think blowing a field away provides more satisfaction because you know you just waxed their butts. For being as close as it was there with Joey (Logano) certainly we didn’t intend for it to be that close. Joey put on a nice run there at the end and came on us there a little bit to get right up to my bumper and then I wasn’t sure if I wanted to give him the inside or the outside. I kept getting a little too loose whenever I would go down to the bottom and try to run around the bottom of the race track there.

I don’t know if it was aero or him being so close to me or just me and the right rear just sliding out from under me. The middle was about the place that I could carry the most momentum and just carry the throttle and run down the straightaways a bit faster than he. I knew if it came down to a race where we were going to bang each other’s doors through three and four like it did, that getting back to the gas and just coming through turn four as hard as you could and making it back to the start-finish line, taking the momentum from the top side was going to be the way to do it.”

Was the racing between yourself and Joey Logano clean because you are teammates?

“Certainly it would have been a lot uglier had it not been a teammate. Who’s to say what would have happened, but depending on who you would have been racing with is how dirty it would have got. Certainly Joey (Logano) needed to do what he needed to do to try to win and all I can remember is going through one and two and down the backstretch and him easing up on my inside a little bit. All I can hear is Mark (Robertson), his spotter telling him right now, ‘Use him up, use him up.’ That’s all I could hear in my ears so I was planning for it the whole time and just knew if I could not let him run me too high and get me up in the trash then I could still try to turn and get back to the gas and get back to the start-finish line. I wasn’t sure how bad he was going to try to use me up, but just enough to where I would have done the same thing and he did what he needed to do and that was cool.”

JASON RATCLIFF, crew chief, No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

What does being a part of Kyle Busch’s 50th career NNS win mean to you?

“It’s exciting. We knew it would eventually come. It seemed like it was a tough one. To win and especially to win your 50th like that –one of the closest finishes as you mentioned is a big deal. Too close for me. The Z-Line car was good tonight and like Kyle (Busch) said, it was good right off the truck. We worked really hard on making it turn better and then we worked really hard on making it not turn so good all night long. Never really got it. It seemed like the more I worked on it, the worse it got. Kyle did a great job and I was surprised that Joey (Logano) — of course those guys, him and Adam (Stevens, crew chief) and the 20 team, they do a nice job every week. I knew if it went green he would start running us back down. I could see his lap times start picking up there. It was a fun race and it’s good to be a part of Kyle’s 50th win obviously.”

JOEY LOGANO, No. 20 GameStop Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 2nd

What did you think of that battle?

“So close. It’s all you can really say about that. We had a good GameStop Toyota. Kyle took off there better on tires. We were on old tires there. He was freeing up. I was catching him through the traffic and the last lap I had a good one and two, got underneath him and I did everything besides wreck him to try to pass him there and, man, it was just so close. It’s frustrating when you’re coming across the line and you’re looking at his nose compared to yours and you’re like, ‘Agh,’ like three inches. It’s frustrating, but what a day for JGR (Joe Gibbs Racing). A one-two finish coming across the line that close rubbing doors. It’s cool. I just wish I was the one celebrating on the front straightaway now.”

Did you know Kyle Busch has won the race?

“Yeah, I knew it. It was close, but I could tell. We gave it our best shot. I did everything I possibly can do. Looking back at it right now, I don’t know what else I could have done to try to pass him besides wrecking him and that ain’t the right thing to do when he’s your teammate.”

Did you know how small the margin was?

“I know. I know it was that much. I saw it. It’s a frustrating deal. It stinks to be that close and you don’t get the win. It’s two times this year. Dover and then here that we’ve been so close to win these things and we didn’t put it together. Just when he got those fresh tires there, he was able to get by me with new tires and did everything I can to keep up and once the tires kind of equaled out, I was catching him through the traffic and then I got under him a couple of times, couldn’t clear him and I knew I had one more shot there on the last lap. My one and two was really good. My car was really good through that corner. Three and four, I was never able to clear anybody. I just wasn’t as good in that end. I made sure I got to door-to-door with him and I was going to slide it down in there and do everything besides wrecking him and I went in there and slid him up the
race track, bounced off doors and all. It was fun.

It would be a- lot more fun if I was the one in victory lane. Either way, it’s really cool for JGR. A one-two finish that close, rubbing the doors across the line there — it’s really neat. Man, I wish I had a couple more. I don’t know if I could have gotten one more lap, but I think I maybe could have gotten him through one and two if I had another lap there. Good car. Guys did a good job today with things. We’ll take it. We’re building on it. We’re getting better with these cars, so it’s good.”

Did you think you could get by Kyle Busch on the final restart?

“On the restart and he (Kyle Busch) was looking up on the topside pretty early. I was like, ‘Man, he’s going to get by me here and this ain’t going to be pretty.’ I started holding him off and shoot, I got a two-car length lead on him and kind of maintained there for a little bit then he moved up and found some speed up there. He drove right by me. I saw that I was starting to maintain and then in traffic I started getting a couple cars here and there. I saw that wad of traffic coming there with about five or six to go and it was about four or five cars and I thought that if they could just hold him up enough.

A lot of times they hold up the leader and then the second-place guy usually gets it easier. That’s what happened, but our car was faster at the end for sure. Between both of that, we were definitely able to get close. I wish I had a couple more laps. I think he was still slowing up and if we kept running laps then he was going to keep getting slower and I was going to get by him eventually. Just came up a little bit short.”

Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway

No. 20 GameStop Toyota News, Notes & Paint Scheme:

· IT’S BRISTOL BABY: Joey Logano and the No. 20 GameStop Toyota will head to Bristol Motor Speedway for Friday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series event, the Food City 250. Logano has always run well at the high-banked half-mile, but rarely has the finishes to show for it. Logano has made five trips to Bristol in Nationwide Series competition, with one top-five finish (5th in the 2011 spring race) and three top-10 finishes. On two separate occasions, Logano has found himself leading the field at Bristol. However, in those two races, Logano’s finishes are 14th and 10th (both races in 2010). In each race, Logano was running in the top-five with just a handful of laps remaining before getting taken out in an accident.

· JOEY WILL BE MAD FOR MAD CATZ AT BRISTOL: Mad Catz, a worldwide leader in manufacturing, distributing and marketing innovative controllers and other peripherals for console and PC game systems, will adorn the side of the No. 20 GameStop Toyota this weekend in Bristol. Mad Catz develops and markets accessories for videogame systems and PCs under its Mad Catz, Saitek, Cyborg, Eclipse and TRITTON brands. Mad Catz distributes its products through most of the leading retailers offering interactive entertainment products and has offices in North America, Europe and Asia. Mad Catz has been a primary partner on the No. 20 GameStop Toyota several times, including last season at Auto Club Speedway.

· LOGANO READY TO SAY VIVA LAS VEGAS: Logano will be making a trip to Las Vegas this coming Monday and Tuesday to partake in the annual GameStop Conference. The Conference is a gathering of all GameStop’s store managers, regional managers, district managers and top management. The Conference includes a full expo hall, presentations by video game manufacturers and a number of other events. Logano will participate in a “Fun Day” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as part of the Conference. The top store managers will join Logano at the track and partake in a number of different activities with Logano, including go-karting, high performance sports car driving and ride-alongs at the 1.5-mile oval. Later that evening, Logano will sign autographs on the main expo floor for the company’s GameStop Racing fans.

· 2011 STATS SHOW LOGANO A TRUE “GO OR GO HOME” DRIVER: If you just look at Logano’s 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series stats, they might look a little disappointing. In 14 races, Logano has one win, one pole, six top-five finishes and 10 top-10 finishes. However, those stats accurately reflect the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 20 team’s attitude of “we’re not looking for points, we’re just looking for wins.” Logano and the No. 20 team led the NASCAR Nationwide Series Owner’s Point Standings early in the year.

However, when a lack of sponsorship kept the No. 20 home from Chicagoland Speedway, the team changed their focus from playing it safe and getting solid finishes to doing whatever they needed to do to win races. As a result, Logano and the No. 20 GameStop team have been able to gamble and take chances they otherwise wouldn’t have. Sometimes it has paid off (like Logano’s win at Daytona and his third-place finish in Watkins Glen), but at other times, it has bit the No. 20 JGR team (like at Dover when they were involved in a late-race wreck while racing for the lead, as well as in New Hampshire, where Logano was collected in an accident).

· CHASSIS: The JGR team will take a proven race-winning chassis to Bristol this weekend. Chassis #20121 is the same car that Denny Hamlin raced to the victory at Richmond International Raceway back in April. Chassis #20124 will serve as the team’s backup car.

· STAT OF THE WEEK: 5th. Logano’s fifth-place finish in the sprint race at Bristol Motor Speedway was a career best for Logano. Prior to that race, Logano’s best finish at Bristol was ninth, coming back in 2009.

· THE RACE: The Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, TN; 0.533-mile, high-banked oval) is set for Friday night, August 26, 2011. The race will be broadcast on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. EST, with radio coverage on PRN starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Joey Logano - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

Joey Logano Quotes:

“I love Bristol. It is one of those tracks that most people love, because all of us grew up racing on short tracks, and there isn’t much better than a little high-banked short track racing action. And once they repaved the track, they made it even better because there are now a couple of racing grooves. Before, you never had a shot to be able to race side-by-side with other cars out there. Now, if you have someone good on the inside of you and you can trust them, you could literally race side-by-side with them for 100 laps. It makes for some really good racing. There isn’t quite the beating and banging of the old Bristol, but that’s ok. We want to race and pass people for the spots and not have to just move them out of the way. I’ve been moved out of the way a few times at Bristol by other cars, and it normally doesn’t end very well.

“I feel like I’ve always run a lot better at Bristol than my finishes show. We’ve had a lot of good cars there. We’ve always been strong. But I don’t have the finishes to show for it. In both races in 2010, we were wrecked by other cars at the end of the races. There are two top-five finishes that got away from us. And I think we will be strong this time. We ran well in the spring in the first race at Bristol with these new cars. We’ve got a lot of good notes to go off of. I just really want to survive and be there at the end. Maybe battle side-by-side with Kyle for the win. That would be a great show.

“This is going to be a busy week for me. After the Nationwide race, we’ve got the Cup race. After that Cup race, we are going to head to Kingsport Speedway just up the road and I’m going to race my buddy Coleman’s Late Model. Then, Monday, I’m headed to Vegas for the GameStop convention. That was a lot of fun last year, and I think it will be even better this year. They’ve got a lot of fun activities planned out at the track. It’s always fun to give ride-alongs too. So it should be a blast. Plus, one of the coolest parts is getting to walk around the show floor and see all of the new games that are coming out. They have some killer displays there.”

Adam Stevens Quotes:

“The night race at Bristol is a lot different than the day race there. The track temp is falling rather than rising, which creates a new set of handling issues that you have to deal with as a crew chief. We practice in the morning and we are the first cars on the track, so there is no rubber down from any other cars. That just means that the track will be a lot different when we start the race. The best drivers here are able to change their racing line as the track changes and adapt to the track conditions. There is no way you are going to learn what you need to learn on Friday morning at 9 am during practice on a green race track that is going to make your car perfect for Friday night at 8 pm when it’s race time. It’s all about adapting and adjusting at the night race. The people that do the best at staying ahead of the track are the ones who are going to be fighting for the win at the end of the race.

With the third-place finish, Logano continued his impressive recent string of road course finishes in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series.

The Race Recap: Following a recent string of good runs in road course events, Logano qualified his No. 20 GameStop Toyota eighth for Saturday afternoon’s event at the 2.45-mile Watkins Glen road course. Logano and Stevens came up with a pre-race pit strategy and were able to stick with it most of the afternoon. Logano rode around the first part of the event in eighth before coming in for his first stop on lap 22, where the team made adjustments for a tight condition.

Logano continued to pick up spot after spot as the race went on, getting up to fifth by lap 40. Just after lap 40, Logano started to complain that the No. 20 GameStop Toyota was running hot. With one eye on the water gauge, Logano continued to run near the front, getting up to fourth by lap 76 following another round of pit stops. However, a late-race caution set up a decision for the No. 20 team. Stevens elected to bring Logano in for four fresh tires and to top the GameStop Toyota off the fuel. Quick pit work by the No. 20 team got Logano out in fifth for the final green-white-checkered run. Over those final two laps, Logano was able to pick up two spots to finish third, including getting by Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch on the final turn coming to the checkers.

Joey Logano - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

Joey’s Quotes: “We had a great run today with the GameStop Toyota. What a great finish considering where we started the day. It was a great call from Adam to come in and get those tires and it worked out just like we had planned. We were going to be close on fuel, so we decided to come in, get some fuel and get tires. That way, if there were a few green-white-checkers at the end of the race, we would be ready for it. It ended up we only lost one spot in the pits because a lot of other guys came in as well and we were actually the first car off pit road. So when they threw the green, we were just all out trying to get the spots we could.

Everyone got into turn one kind of crazy and that helped too. We got into fourth and were able to get by Kyle for third there coming to the line. I just wish we could have had more laps at the end. I was kind of hoping we would have a couple of green-white-checker finishes, because we had those fresh tires. But I’ll take third-place, especially on a road course.

“The car was good all day, but wasn’t as good in the beginning as it needed to be and that is probably my fault. I don’t think I put as much emphasis on getting the car turning in practice as I should have. So we spent the first part of the race trying to get it turning better and Adam and the guys made all the right adjustments. By the end of the race, we had a good car. I’m just happy to get out of here with a car in one piece and a top-five finish. We stayed on the track all day and it was a good race.

“I need to thank Max Papis for helping me out today. He’s been serving as a coach on the road course races for me and I’ve been really improving. He was on the radio in the bus stop today and was giving me a lot of pointers. Plus, he brings a lot of energy to the radio. It’s hard to listen to the guy and not get pumped up when you are out there.

He came over after the race and said I drove my butt off. When a guy like that tells you that you are driving your but off, you know you did something. I’m definitely getting better at these road course events. I’ve still got a ways to go, but I feel like I’m getting there. I kind of started as a blank slate with Max and I think he’s got me to a place I need to be. If I can just keep honing my road racing skills, I think I’ll be able to win one of these events one day.”

What’s Next: The No. 20 GameStop Toyota and Logano will be back in action in just two weeks at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Zippo 200 at the Glen at Watkins Glen International

No. 20 GameStop Toyota News, Notes & Paint Scheme:

· No. 20 TEAM WELCOMES BACK JOEY & GAMESTOP: After taking nearly a month off from the NASCAR Nationwide Series, both Joey Logano and his primary Nationwide Series sponsor GameStop will return to the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota this weekend at Watkins Glen International. And to celebrate, Logano will be driving a brand new JGR chassis branded solely with the GameStop logo and its familiar red and black paint scheme. Logano last raced in the Nationwide Series on July 16 at New Hampshire International Speedway, where he was running in the top five before a pair of late-race accidents took him out of contention for the win. From this point forward until the end of the season, Logano will miss only three of the remaining 12 Nationwide Series events (Montreal, Atlanta and Richmond). He will carry sponsor GameStop on the car for 10 of those races.

· GAMESTOP TOYOTA KICKS OFF “LOGANOTHON” IN WATKINS GLEN : When Joey takes to the track on Saturday for the Zippo 200 at the Glen, it will mark the start to what his fans are dubbing “Loganothon.” Joey will race in three different events in three different types of cars over the course of the weekend at the 2.45-mile Watkins Glen track. Logano will kick it off with the No. 20 GameStop Toyota in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event and follow that up by teaming with Boris Said to race in the Rolex Grand-Am Road Racing Series event. Logano and Said will pilot a car for March Racing in the GT Class, which is scheduled to being shortly after the conclusion of the Nationwide Series race. Then, Logano will wrap up “Loganothon” by racing his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car in Sunday’s event at the 11-turn road course.

· ROAD COURSE RINGER?: Joey Logano hasn’t spent much of his career being known as a “road course ringer” in either the NASCAR Nationwide or Sprint Cup Series. However, thanks to a lot of testing and a lot of coaching from a number of different instructors, namely Max Papis of late, Logano has turned into quite the road racer. Things started to turn around last season at Watkins Glen, when Logano raced his No. 20 GameStop Toyota to a second-place start and finish behind veteran road course racer Marcos Ambrose. Logano then followed that up with a third-place qualifying effort and a sixth-place finish in the Nationwide Series at Montreal last season. He continued his strong road course presence this season on the Sprint Cup side of things, picking up a pole and a sixth-place finish at Infineon Raceway just a month ago.

· WELCOME BACK PIT CREW: Not only will Logano be returning to the No. 20 GameStop Toyota this weekend, so will his Sprint Cup Series pit crew, including front tire changer John Royer, who recently returned from a hand injury. On companion race weekend, Logano’s Home Depot crew gets in extra work by pitting the No. 20 GameStop Toyota in the Nationwide Series. And at Watkins Glen, pit stops are even more crucial, as the cars come down pit road the opposite direction they do on oval tracks, therefore making the pit stop work in reverse (the team changes left side tires first, then right side).

· CHASSIS: The JGR team will take a brand new chassis to Watkins Glen this weekend. Chassis #20133 will make its debut this weekend with Logano behind the wheel. Chassis #20107, which has been an oval track car for much of the year, was recently transitioned to a road course car, and will serve as the team’s backup.

· STAT OF THE WEEK: 10th. The Joe Gibbs Racing No. 20 team currently sits 10th in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Owner’s Standings. While that might not be an impressive number to some, the stat seems rather impressive considering the team has made only 19 of 22 starts in 2011. In fact, the No. 20 team higher in the standings than 24 other teams that have made more starts in 2011. Those numbers for the No. 20 team comes on the back of two wins, seven top-fives and 13 top-10 finishes.

· THE RACE: The Zippo 200 at the Glen at Watkins Glen International (Watkins Glen, NY; 2.45-mile, 11-turn road course) is set for Saturday, August 13, 2011. The race will be broadcast on ESPN at 2:00 p.m. EST, with radio coverage on MRN starting at 1:30 p.m. EST.

Joey Logano - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

Joey Logano Quotes:

“I’m pretty excited about getting back behind the wheel of the GameStop Toyota this weekend and it couldn’t come at a better time. I’m not generally the best road racer out there, but I feel in the past year I’ve been making huge gains at it. Each time I get out there, I’m a little more confident. But the best way to make yourself a better road racer is to just get more seat time and to get as many laps in as you can. So this weekend, getting to get back behind the wheel of the Nationwide Series car and also getting to run the Rolex GT car before the Cup race will help me hone my skills a little more.

“I am definitely more confident on road courses now than I was a year ago. I’ve done a lot of testing and worked with a lot of people to help me get better. This year, I’ve been working with Max Papis, and he’s been a huge, huge help to me. But I think I could say I started turning the corner of road courses last year here at Watkins Glen in the Nationwide race. We ran great in that race and were the only car out there that could compete with Marcos (Ambrose, the eventual winner). Then, we backed that up with a strong run at Montreal with a stout field of road course ringers. Now, I’ve got a pole in the Sprint Cup Series at Sonoma to go with it, so I think I’m getting there. And, not only will I get the chance to make a lot more laps, but I really think we’ve got a shot to win this weekend. Our road course program on the Nationwide side of things is strong and if I can continue running like I have been, keep the mistakes to a minimum and keep the car on the track, I don’t see any reason not to be there at the end of the race.

“It feels good to get back in the Nationwide car and be back with GameStop too. Things are just so nice on the Nationwide side, because we aren’t running for any points or anything over here. It’s all about going for the win. So you just have a different. We can go out there and do what we need to do to get the win. I think it will be a good weekend and I’d finally like to get GameStop back into Victory Lane. They deserve another win soon.”

Adam Stevens Quotes:

“It will be nice to have Joey back this weekend as it seems like it’s been a lot longer than a month since he was last in the car. Joey has been improving a lot over the last year at road course racing, and our Joe Gibbs Racing road course program is pretty strong like we saw earlier this year at Road America (where Michael McDowell dominated in the No. 18 JGR Toyota). So I have total faith that as long as we can bring a good car to the track, Joey can drive it to the front.

“Watkins Glen is very fast and fairly wide, which makes it unique among road courses. The key is to be able to get turned and stay in the gas up thru the esses (turns two, three and four). You can fight ‘wheel hop’ under braking a lot at Watkins Glen, which makes the rear shocks very important. We have a solid shock program, so I think we will be strong there. You also use a totally different race strategy at road courses and calculate your fuel a little differently. But the weekend is always big because there are a lot of heavy hitters there too. There are a lot of Cup guys and road course ringers running this race, so whoever wins it will truly earn it.”

Feed the Children 300 at Kentucky Speedway

No. 20 GameStop Toyota News, Notes & Paint Scheme:

· THE KING OF KENTUCKY RETURNS… BATTING 1.000: Joey will return to his most successful racetrack on the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, Kentucky Speedway. In baseball terms, Logano is batting 1,000 at Kentucky Speedway in every single stat category. In three career starts at the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway, Logano has raced his way to three poles and three victories. In those three victories, Logano has led 202 total laps. The first victory back in 2008 put Logano on the map with both competitors and fans. Coming in just his third-career start, Logano became the youngest NASCAR Nationwide Series winner ever at the young age of 18 years and 21 days. Logano came back then and won the race again in 2009, leading just 20 laps and passing teammate Kyle Busch late. Then, last year, he completed the trifecta, dominating the event by leading 106 laps en route to his third-straight victory.

· LOGANO WANTS TO KEEP A KENTUCKY “WIPEOUT” LIMITED TO HIS CAR: It’s a favorite game show of many people these days, including Joey Logano himself. It features spills, thrills and plenty of laughs. It’s ABC’s Wipeout. And the video game version will hopefully bring some thrills without the spills at Kentucky Speedway. Wipeout: In the Zone for the Xbox 360’s Kinect system will be the featured game on the No. 20 GameStop Toyota for the Feed the Children 300. Released on June 14th, Wipeout In the Zone features over 30 outrageous obstacles that will test players’ limits in more ridiculous ways than ever. Players can try to run the entire course in one shot, conquering one challenge after another, such as leaping over a pool of water using the infamous “Big Balls” and maneuvering their players to avoid being pummeled by the “Smack Wall Sweeper.” Once again featuring the talents and hilarious commentary of the show’s hosts, Wipeout In the Zone will bring hours upon hours of fun and laughter for the entire family.

· LOOKING FOR FOUR IN A ROW…OR IS THAT FIVE IN A ROW?: This weekend, Logano will not be looking for his fourth-straight win at Kentucky Speedway. In fact, he’ll be looking for his fifth-straight. Logano raced at the track back when he was just 12 years old in the Young Lions Nationals for Legends cars on the quarter-mile track that utilizes part of the infield and part of pit road. Despite never being to at the track before, Logano won the event, becoming the youngest Young Lions Nationals winner ever. Therefore, Logano has won all four events he’s ever competed in at Kentucky Speedway.

· RIDING HIGH FOLLOWING DAYTONA WIN: Logano and the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team are on a hot streak right now, coming off the team’s second win of the season (and Logano’s first Nationwide Series win since last season at Kansas) last weekend in Daytona. Logano, who called the win the biggest of his career in any division he’s ever raced, used a push from JGR teammate Kyle Busch to score his first restrictor-plate victory, leading only the final lap. The win, coupled with Logano’s last few runs in the Sprint Cup Series (pole and sixth-place finish in Sonoma, third-place finish at Daytona) has the 21-year-old’s confidence soaring. It also has the team’s confidence soaring with the problems they had to overcome at Daytona, including a broken clutch in qualifying, a spin early in the race and an unscheduled pit stop for a loose wheel. Despite all the problems, Logano and the team never backed down and was able to grab the win.

· DOUBLE DUTY… WITHOUT THE TRAVEL: This will be the third year in a row that Logano will compete at Kentucky Speedway while pulling double duty and racing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series as well on the same weekend. In the past, he’s traveled back and forth between Kentucky and Michigan. This year however, the Sprint Cup Series will make their debut at Kentucky Speedway, racing Saturday night.

· CHASSIS: The JGR team will take chassis #20108 to Kentucky Speedway. That chassis has raced three times already in 2011 at Vegas (seventh-place finish), Texas (fourth-place) and Darlington (second-place). Chassis #20121 will serve as the team’s backup.

· STAT OF THE WEEK: 141.1 Logano’s driver rating at Kentucky is a stellar 141.1. The next closest driver is that of JGR teammate Kyle Busch, who has a driver rating of 130.7 at Kentucky Speedway. Driver rating formula combines wins, finishes, top-15 finishes, average running position while on lead lap, average speed under green, fastest lap, led most laps and lead-lap finishes.

· THE RACE: The Feed the Children 300 at Kentucky Speedway (Sparta, KY; 1.5-mile oval) is set for Friday, July 8, 2011. The race will be broadcast on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. EST, with radio coverage on PRN starting at 7 p.m. EST.

Joey Logano - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

Joey Logano Quotes:

“I’m pretty pumped to get back to Kentucky, for obvious reasons of course. Kentucky has really felt like a second home to me over the last couple of years in the Nationwide Series. We’ve had pretty good success there. People ask me all of the time why we have been so good and I don’t really know what to say about that. I’ve turned a lot of laps on that track between all of the testing we did there in the Cup cars and in all of the Nationwide races there. But I don’t necessarily feel any more comfortable there than I do at some other tracks that we go to. I guess really I just know what the track is going to do as the race goes on and how to handle the bumps there. There is something said about having laps at a track I guess.

“I also get asked about the streak there a lot. I try not to think about it too much and treat going to Kentucky like I treat going to any other race that we go to. But then again, it’s pretty cool when you look at it to be able to say you’ve won three-straight races at the same track and you’ve won all of them from the pole. Not a lot of people can say something like that. And last year, Kentucky was where we got our first win of the season so there was a lot of pressure on us to win that race. Now that we’ve got that out of the way with our win at Daytona last weekend, we can go into Kentucky with a little extra momentum and have even more confidence that we can win again. I know I’m going to give it my all and all of the guys on the team want to be a part of winning four-straight.

“I’m think it’s pretty cool to have Wipeout on the car. I love that game show on TV. It is crazy. I would love to be on that show one of these times. Maybe one day they will have a celebrity show and I can get an invite. I’m pretty excited to try it out on the Kinect though. It will be fun to run the course but not get hurt, although when I play Kinect with some of my friends, it can get pretty physical. We’ve brought a lot of cool looking cars to Victory Lane at Kentucky. Hopefully, we can do that again this year.”

Adam Stevens Quotes:

“Kentucky is going to be a cool race because of all the tracks we go to, it will be the closest to home for me. It’s about 140 miles away from my hometown of Portsmith, OH. I’ve got some family coming to the race, so that is always a little added incentive to do well. And they couldn’t be coming to a better track with Joey’s track record at Kentucky. Three races and three wins is pretty impressive, but that also puts a little added pressure on us because we know everyone’s eyes are going to be on us to be the car to beat. And we also really want to keep the streak going as well. It would be pretty impressive to make it four-in-a-row.

“The big difference about this year though is that we will be going to the track with the new Nationwide Series car for the first time, so things will be a little different for us and for Joey. Because of that, we can’t go off of the notes of the past there, as far as setup and the car itself. We will just have to go off of more of our notes from this year. Really, you can compare Kentucky to any of the intermediate tracks that we run on. It has a lot of bumps which can change some things, but for the most part, other notes can give you a good baseline. You can still look at the past notes as far as how the track changes, what kinds of changes were made to the car and such. There is always something you can pull off of old notes.”

Alliance Truck Parts 250 at Michigan International Speedway

No. 20 GameStop Toyota News, Notes & Paint Scheme:

· KA-CHOW: “LIGHTNING” LOGANO HOPES TO RIDE HIS CAR INTO VICTORY LANE : Cars 2: The Video Game will ride along with Logano at Michigan International Speedway. Inspired by the upcoming Disney-Pixar animated film, Cars 2, the game lets players jump into the Cars 2 universe with some of their favorite Cars personalities in exotic locations around the globe, including Mater and Lightning McQueen, as well as some brand new characters, as they train in the international training center to become world-class spies. Players can race against friends and family in either single or multiplayer modes with up to four players to unlock challenging new tracks, characters, events and thrilling spy missions. The game releases June 21 and will be available for the Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Macintosh and Nintendo DS.

· NEW PHILOSOPHY FOR THE NO. 20 TEAM… JUST WIN BABY WIN: Due to a lack of sponsorship, the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team was forced to miss the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Chicagoland Speedway, the first time the No. 20 JGR car has missed an NNS event since the 2002 season. Now, with the team out of the race for the Owner’s Championship, they are going to finish out the rest of the year with a new philosophy… just win. Not racing for points, the new philosophy will allow the team to do a number of things to give them their best chance to win, from taking risks during fuel mileage races, to making a different pit strategy call near the end of races. The No. 20 JGR team already has one win and nine top 10 finishes in 2011.

· MICHIGAN A TOP-10 TRACK FOR LOGANO: Michigan International Speedway hasn’t been Logano’s worst track on the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, but it hasn’t been his best either. In fact, Logano has only raced at Michigan twice in the Nationwide Series and only once in the No. 20 GameStop Toyota. Logano’s first shot at Michigan was in 2008 when he drove the No. 18 to a seventh place finish. Logano didn’t race at the track in 2009 and came back to finish sixth in the No. 20 GameStop Toyota in 2010. In four-career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at the track, Logano has racked up three top-10 finishes.

· CHASSIS: The JGR team will take chassis #20127 to Michigan International Speedway this weekend. This is the first time this chassis will hit the track in 2011. Chassis #20107 will serve as the team’s backup.

· STAT OF THE WEEK: 0 In two races at Michigan International Speedway, Logano has never earned a top-five finish. In fact, it is one of only six tracks on the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule that Logano has failed to record a top-five finish (others include Atlanta, Darlington, Montreal, ORP and Richmond).

· THE RACE: The Alliance Truck Parts 250 at Michigan International Speedway (Brooklyn, MI, 2-mile oval) is set for Saturday, June 18, 2011. The race will be broadcast on ABC at 3:30 p.m. EST, with radio coverage on MRN starting at 3 p.m. EST.

“Michigan is one of those tracks that I’ve always been good at, but never quite good enough to contend for the win. That’s really surprising because Michigan is so similar to California and I’ve always been really successful at California. I don’t know what the difference is, but I’ve only run a couple of races at Michigan and run more at California, so maybe it is just track time. We’ve been successful in the Cup Series at Michigan and I think the more I learn, the more that will carry over. Every week I get in the car, be it the Nationwide Series car or the Cup car, I’m learning something new. There is always something to be learned in the car.

“I like the new philosophy that our team is going to go after in Michigan. We just want to win races. We’ve always been in it to win races, but I think there were times that maybe we would have made a conservative call to not fall way back in the field, which is what we needed to do to stay in the Owner’s Championship standings. Now that we are in it to win it, we can go after it for all that it’s worth. And Michigan is normally a fuel mileage race, and that philosophy could come down to it this weekend. It should be a lot of fun.

“We’ve got the Cars 2 game on the car this weekend, and that is always pretty cool because I’ve love the original Cars movie and I’m sure the second movie is going to be a great. All of us in racing and all of us who are big fans of cars in general loved the movie Cars, so to get to represent it on the track is awesome. There are some cool paint schemes we’ve had over the years and to have a movie like Cars on the car is pretty neat.”

Adam Stevens Quotes:

“Michigan is definitely a horsepower track, so hopefully we’ll be pretty good because the engine department here at Joe Gibbs Racing has been working extra hard to get our Toyota engines even more power, which is always a good thing at a place like Michigan. Michigan is also a very aero-sensitive track as well, meaning you need to keep the car clean and keep all of the fenders on it. The last thing you want to do is wrinkle a fender and mess up your aero, because you will get tight and your day will be ruined. And that can happen on those double-file restarts with as crazy as they’ve been this year.

“A lot of people really say Michigan is similar to Fontana and it; Michigan just has a little more banking. And Michigan really tends to change grip a lot with track temperature changes, so as a crew chief, you have to stay on top of the changes and make sure the driver is giving you the best feedback possible so you know what to do to the car. Joey and my communication continues to get better and better each week and he’s great at giving feedback, so that shouldn’t be an issue. In the end, Michigan is a great track to race because there is lots of room and multiple lanes to race in, which makes for an exciting race.”

No. 20 GameStop Toyota News, Notes & Paint Scheme:

· LOGANO HOPES TO “KONGREGATE” HIS TEAM IN VICTORY LANE AT CMS: This weekend, the No. 20 GameStop Toyota will carry the colors of online gaming hub Kongregate for the Top Gear 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Kongregate is a leading browser-based game site with over 13 million monthly unique visitors who spend more than 23 million hours playing per month. As part of the GameStop Corporation network, the site features a unique community and social platform including achievements, profiles, chat, messaging, forums, and levels, which unifies more than 40,000 totally free games into a cohesive and addicting experience. Based in San Francisco, CA, Kongregate was founded in 2007 by brother-and-sister team Jim Greer, a game industry veteran, and Emily Greer, an interactive marketing executive.

· LOGANO TO BE FEATURED ON CNN: While in town this weekend for the Charlotte races, Logano will film a show with CNN at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield will be filming her show called “Face to Face” with Logano and several other of NASCAR up-and-coming stars. Whitfield, a weekend anchor on CNN, has hosted the “Face to Face” interview series and sat down with a number of high-profile celebrities, including Ted Turner, Russell Simmons and Salman Rushdie. Whitfield herself had the idea to do a show on NASCAR’s up-and-coming drivers, including Logano. As part of the show, Whitfield will also partake in a ride-along at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Airdate for the show has not yet been set, but will be later in the summer.

· THE BIGGEST RACE TO WIN? CMS OF COURSE: Charlotte Motor Speedway stands as a “home race” for most of the NASCAR Nationwide Series teams. That is no different for Joe Gibbs Racing and Logano. Being a home track for a majority of the teams, Charlotte easily stands as one of the most important races to win all year long on the Nationwide Series schedule. Logano has had mixed success at Charlotte in the Nationwide Series. Dating back to his first race at the track in 2008, Logano has three top-five finishes in five starts. Outside of those top-five finishes, Logano has two 14th-place finishes. Logano has also led laps in four of the five events at Charlotte that he’s participated in.

· CHASSIS: The JGR team will take chassis #20124 to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. This is the first time this chassis will hit the track in 2011. Chassis #20121 will serve as the team’s backup.

· STAT OF THE WEEK: 33. Logano’s DNF at Dover International Speedway broke a streak of 33-straight races for Logano in the NASCAR Nationwide Series of running at the end of the race. Before the last-lap accident at Dover, Logano’s last DNF was at Texas Motor Speedway back in late 2009.

· THE RACE: The Top Gear 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Concord, NC; 1.5-mile oval) is set for Saturday, May 28, 2011. The race will be broadcast on ABC at 2:30 p.m. EST, with radio coverage on PRN starting at 2 p.m. EST.

Joey Logano - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

Joey Logano Quotes:

“Charlotte is probably one of the most important races to win each year on the Nationwide Series schedule because it is a home track for all of us. We all have particular tracks around the country that we call our ‘home track’ but Charlotte is where most of us live now and where all of the shops are. And because of that, there are always a lot of guests and people from the teams that to come to the track on race weekend that don’t normally get to see us race when we are traveling. So to win at Charlotte is something that is pretty important to every driver out there. I know I really want to get a win there too.

“Charlotte is also probably my favorite track. It’s just a great place to race, and I’ve been lucky enough to have been pretty good there over the years. Last year, we finished third and fourth in our two Nationwide Series races at Charlotte after only getting one top-five run there in my first three races, so I’ve learned a lot about the place. Another bonus about this weekend’s race is that it’s the second race with the new Nationwide Series car at Charlotte, so we’ve already got a few notes based on last year’s race there. We are not starting from scratch on what these new cars handle like. So that should be a big positive for us and for the No. 20 GameStop team.

“I’m also pretty pumped to get back behind the wheel of the GameStop car this weekend because the No. 20 team has a ton of momentum right now. They got a win at Richmond with Denny (Hamlin) and ran well at Darlington, then we almost came back to win the race at Dover, where we had the best car for sure. And last weekend in Iowa, they ran strong even though they didn’t quite have the finish they should have. So we’ve got a lot going for us now and I really don’t know if there is a better overall team in the Nationwide Series right now.”

Adam Stevens Quotes:

“I’m pretty excited about the weekend, because Joey is good at Charlotte and I think the guys like Joey, Kyle, Carl and others are going to have an advantage after racing in the All Star race last weekend. The biggest thing about the race this year is the new tire combination that we’ll have going into the race. There seems to be a lot more grip than last year and you could see that watching the All Star race last weekend. The Cup cars were really fast.

“Another thing we learned from watching the All Star race is that it’s going to be a track position race for sure. You would need to come up with a strategy that is going to put you out front or near the front. It’s going to be very hard to pass. I expect the setup stuff to be similar to Texas, and we ran strong there and learned a lot of things about these new cars. Plus, we’ve got some notes to go off of from last year’s race at Charlotte where they ran the new car. Of course, it’s always nice to be home for a weekend as well.”
