Las Vegas, NV – September 25, 2010. Jason White scored his fourteenth top-fifteen of the 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season Saturday night finishing fourteenth in the Smith’s Food & Drug Stores 350 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

White qualified the GunBroker.com/Mule Deer Foundation No. 23 Dodge fifteenth in the afternoon multi-truck qualifying session with a lap of 31.36 seconds at just over 172 mph but was required to start at the rear of the field after the SS Green Light team was forced to switch to a back-up motor in the GunBroker.com/Mule Deer Foundation Dodge following a problem with the powerplant in his No. 23 that was discovered at the end of the first practice session.
White would make a quick charge toward the front of the field in the early stages of the 146-lap race moving up to twenty-fourth by lap five and twenty-second when the first caution flew on lap thirteen. White came to the attention of the Doug Howe led crew for some quick adjustments and restarted twenty-first.
Jason made a great move to avoid several spinning trucks during the second caution on lap twenty-three. White continued to come to the attention of the SS Green Light crew over the next several cautions as Howe and the crew continued to make adjustments trying to find more speed in White’s Dodge RAM truck.
Following the fourth caution on lap sixty, Howe tried a bold move taking no tires and Jason jumped all the way up to the sixth position on the restart. By lap seventy, fresh tires would prevail and Jason fell back to tenth place and would eventually fall back to thirteenth when the caution flew again on lap ninety-five.
In total, the SS Green Light team made eight pit stops over seven cautions during the event continuing to make adjustments to help Jason on the track.
Jason would hang on to his top-fifteen spot for the last fifty laps of the race, crossing the line in fourteenth place behind winner Austin Dillon, who won his second race of the season. It was Jason’s fourth straight and thirteenth lead-lap finish of the season.
“It wasn’t a great day for the GunBroker/Mule Deer Foundation team, but it wasn’t a terrible day either,” said SS Green Light General Manager Bobby Dotter. “Jason came from the back of the field with a back-up motor to finish fourteenth, had we not switched motors, who knows, it might have turned-out much worse.”
“The truck did not handle terrible, we struggled on the bumps like most everyone did, but we never really found the speed for Jason we were looking for this week,” Dotter added.
White dropped to eleventh in the NCWTS point standings behind leader Todd Bodine. However, Jason is only 4 points behind Justin Lofton in tenth. The pair appears to be locked into a fight for the tenth position over the last five race of the 2010 season.
Jason White and the SS Green Light team have several weeks off before the Kroger 200 at the Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, October 23rd.
