No. 29 Pennzoil Ultra Chevrolet Impala
Race Notes and Quotes
This Week’s Pennzoil Ultra Chevrolet at Charlotte Motor Speedway … Kevin Harvick will pilot Chassis No. 281 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable. Earlier in the year, this Chevrolet Impala scored an 11th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway. This RCR machine became a workhorse for the team during the second half of the 2009 season, and was used six times last year, including a runner-up finish in the fall Atlanta race and a sixth-place finish in the Brickyard 400.
Change of Scenery … Harvick’s No. 29 Chevrolet Impala will sport a different look for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The 2007 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race winner will transform his bright yellow and red Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet into a special yellow Pennzoil Ultra Chevrolet. The makers of Pennzoil® motor oils announced the launch of Pennzoil Ultra™ in March 2010. This new, ultra-class motor oil became a reality after years of collaboration between the Pennzoil® brand team and Shell Lubricants’ global technology team to formulate a motor oil that helps to keep engines as close to factory clean as possible. Pennzoil has been a sponsor in virtually every form of motorsports since the brand appeared as a sponsor of Russell Snowberger’s Indianapolis 500 race entry in the 1930′s. KEVIN HARVICK QUOTES:
As a former all-star winner, and with one million dollars on the line, does that make this weekend more exciting for you?
“It is a very fun weekend. I look at Charlotte as the biggest challenge for me. It’s the race track that I dislike going to the most. For us to win there was a huge accomplishment. We had a great weekend in ’07, we had good speed, and we put ourselves in a position to win. I am glad that the all-star race is in Charlotte because it gives us some extra track time, at what I consider to be, our worst race track.”
Because there are no points on the line, do you drive differently under this format?
“It’s nice to go out and just race. We don’t have to worry about points, and there is a lot of money on the line. You can do things and try some things that you normally wouldn’t do. Charlotte has been a struggle for us, but we had a good test at Charlotte, so hopefully we run well this weekend and that gives us momentum heading into the Coca-Cola 600.”
Does winning this race compare to a point-paying win? Is it more special?
“It’s a big deal. It’s a huge feather in your cap. Everyone wants to win it because it is the all-star race. And you get a million bucks to go along with it, so that’s always nice (smiles).”
