Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Homestead-Miami Speedway – November 21, 2009

- Camry driver Kyle Busch earned the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) championship when he took the green flag on
Saturday at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The championship marks the first NNS driver’s title for Toyota and the first
NASCAR championship for the 24-year old Las Vegas-native.

- Busch won his ninth NNS race of 2009 and 15th for Toyota this season when he took the checkered flag at Homestead-Miami
Speedway. Busch also become the first driver since 1983 (Sam Ard) to win both the season-finale and the championship in the
series.

- Camry drivers Joey Logano (fourth), Denny Hamlin (fifth), David Reutimann (sixth) and Scott Speed (ninth) also earned top-10
finishes.

- Jason Leffler (18th), Michael Annett (21st), Justin Marks (32nd) and Chase Miller (37th) were also in the field.

- This season, Camry drivers had 15 victories, 68 top-fives, 127 top-10 finishes, and have led 3,854 laps.

<img src="http://www.catchfence.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/2009-Homestead-Nov-NNS-Kyle-Busch-in-Victory-Lane.jpg" alt="Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota, celebrates in Victory Lane after winning Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Series and the Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, his 30th win in 173 NASCAR Nationwide Series races.
Finishing Position: 1st

What are you thinking after winning the race and the championship?

“It’s been a while since that’s been done. I don’t mean to be selfish, but that’s the way for these guys to go out. They deserve it. This whole team and all these guys that work so hard on this Z-Line Designs Camry. I can’t thank Toyota enough, I can’t thank Z-Line, NOS Energy Drink, the Nationwide Series, thank all the fans – not just here in Homestead, but across NASCAR’s nation here. Of course Jim (Sexton, president and CEO of Z-Line Designs) and Monica (Sexton) are here to help us celebrate tonight and Marquis
Jets, Gillette and everybody that’s been on board and a part of our program this year. This is huge. My mom and dad are here tonight, my brother came up to me before the race knowing that all we had to do was take the green flag – this is cool. I wish I could have been with Kurt (Busch) in 2004 winning the championship. This one here means a whole lot for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) and
everybody at JGR – all the guys that work so hard at building these things, not just in the Nationwide shop, but in the Cup shop, the
fab shop, everybody. Joe and J.D. Gibbs and everybody is here – Norm Miller from Interstate Batteries, it’s just great.”

What were your thoughts with Carl Edwards coming on fresh tires on the last lap?

“It was a little nerving, I knew Carl (Edwards) would be coming with fresh tires – he was really fast. I was hoping Jeff Burton could
hold him up long enough to help burn his tires off a little bit before he got free and chased me down. I was just trying to hit my marks every single time. I finally found something, I couldn’t find it all race long and in the broadcast I said I couldn’t find anything.
Finally, with about 40 (laps) to go I found something there and kept running in that lane.

It prevailed and it paid off for us. I was able to keep my momentum going and keep those guys behind me. He bonsaied me there and I wasn’t quite sure if we were going to connect there. What a close race that might have been for the fans to watch and everybody – I’m sure it was exciting on TV knowing Carl (Edwards) and what he did at Kansas last year. Glad he missed us and we were able to come out on top.”

<img src="http://www.catchfence.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/2009-Homestead-Nov-NNS-Kyle-Busch-drives-with-championship-flag_thumb.jpg" alt="After receiving the checkered flag for winning Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide Ford 300, Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota, celebrates by waving the championship flag in the car around Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Fla. (Photo Credit: Jason Smith / Getty Images for NASCAR)

How was tonight’s race for you?

“It was a tough race for sure. We weren’t the best car here for a long time. All the guys made some great race calls, Jason (Ratcliff,
crew chief) and everybody else. That’s why we’re a championship team and that’s why we made it here tonight is because these guys can fight through stuff and we made some adjustments to the car that really brought it to life and I was able to pass those guys on that restart and get up towards the front and lead those laps. When that last caution came out, I knew Carl (Edwards) was going to try to do the same thing that I just did. I was worried that he was going to get back to us.”

Does this championship make running races in all three series worth it?

“It is, it’s definitely worth it. I love being able to race as many vehicles as I can and this championship right here defines all that and
being able to race as many vehicles as I can race and still be able to produce – I feel like a lot of these tracks I’m good at. About every track I’m good at. There’s not really a track that I’m super at and then a track that I’m not that good at. I’m just good at all of them. Being able to do that and work with these guys and make our cars better.”

Where does this rank in your career accomplishments?

“This is the biggest one – this is it. It hasn’t sunk in yet and it probably won’t for a couple of days. Carl (Edwards) told me before the race, ‘When I won the championship it didn’t mean that much to me the day of, but once it got to the following season and you were called champ or reigning champ or whatever, it really means a lot and really hits home.’ Thank Nationwide for the series and for
helping support the series and all they’ve done for us. It’s a great year and it’s a tribute to all these guys. Everybody at JGR (Joe
Gibbs Racing) and all these guys on this team – everybody at the fab shop, the engine shop, chassis shop. These cars are phenomenal and it takes a lot of work in order to get these done. We’ve had a really strong season and those guys behind us had a really strong season as well – it wasn’t that we just barely lucked into this thing. We won it and we won it in good style.”

What does it mean that the last series champion to win the final race was Sam Ard?

“That brings a smile to my face, just the relationship that I’ve had with Sam (Ard) and what I’ve been able to talk to him so far.

That’s the history of this sport – that’s what those guys are all about. Sam (Ard) and I have some records together and I’ve broken some of his and I’ve broken other people’s records, but none of them mean as much as being able to win a race at the season finale and really solidify your championship and put icing on the cake.”

JASON RATCLIFF, crew chief, No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

How does it feel to be a championship crew chief?

“Incredible. When you stop and think about it, it becomes a little bit emotional. To think about what we’re able to do – the blessings
that we’ve been blessed with all season long. Kyle (Busch) and this whole team, what we’ve been able to accomplish as a group. I
don’t know, I don’t have the words for it right now. It’s just awesome to be able to put those goals up there in front of us and go out there and achieve them. We did everything we set out to do and then even more than we expected. I don’t know if we can ever have another season like this, but we’re going to try.”

What can you say about the records that Kyle Busch has broken this season?

“He’s (Kyle Busch) incredible. He deserves every record he broke and his name deserves to by it. We’re just glad that we could be a
part of it. This group of guys, I’ve been working with this group for more than four years now and they just never quit. They just keep on, keep on, keep on. We kind of challenge each other. Kyle (Busch) challenges us when we finish second and then we challenge him in situations like tonight where we make a decent call and get him out front and then he’s got to step up on the wheel and show what he’s all about.”

JOE GIBBS, team owner, Joe Gibbs Racing

What does it mean to win the Nationwide championship?

“I think these are things that — the great things in life are the memories that you have and that you don’t forget, and I remember
standing out one time after a Super Bowl, and I turned to Charles Manning, and he said to me, the thrill was getting here, everything
that you had to do to get here, all the times you’ve fought, and you have a wreck, you have this, you have that, things that happen. The thing I told Kyle before we started, to me what impresses me is this car ran great all year. I mean, super all year, and we went all the way to the last race before we could win the championship. So it shows you how hard this is.”

J.D. GIBBS, president, Joe Gibbs Racing

What does this championship mean for your team?

“This is such a big deal for us and these are so hard to come by. I think Nationwide, Cup – it’s just a blessing for us. To watch Kyle
(Busch) and the way he worked through the season and worked with Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) and all the guys coming together -
that’s a big deal. For us, we’ll celebrate this and this one is going to last quite a while.”

What has Kyle Busch learned about winning championships?

“What he’s kind of learned over here, we’ve taken a lot of seconds, a lot of thirds – they’re not fun to take. On the Cup side, that’s
taking your fifths, your 10ths, and you just learn that when you’re running for a championship there’s certain things that are required
there.”

No. 20 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Toyota Camry

JOEY LOGANO, No. 20 GameStop Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 4th

How was tonight’s race for you?

“It was a rough one. We weren’t good enough to win by no means. We got out in the lead for a little bit, but I knew we weren’t good enough to be up there. We finished fourth and that’s where we ran. I think that’s where we should have run. I felt like there at the end when the leaders pitted and we stayed out, I said, ‘We ain’t going to win the way we are so let’s go for the gold and try something different.’ That didn’t work for us so then we got the last caution and we tried to go for the gold again and get some new tires. My race car just wasn’t fast enough, we were digging hard. Everyone did a great job, just missed it by a little bit. Carl (Edwards) and Kyle (Busch) were really the best cars, 29 (Jeff Burton) was really good too. We’ll take it. We ran fourth, we finished fourth so it is what it is.”

Denny Hamlin

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 GodSpeaks.com Toyota Camry, CJM Racing

Finishing Position: 5th

How good was your race car tonight?

“We just had a crack in the header right there when we were trying to get our lap back and it just wore through and killed our
horsepower. All in all it is still a great day for us. I felt like we had something for those guys but that horsepower loss that we had
through the exhaust it really hurt us there towards the end.”

What happened when you got into the back of Brad Keselowski?

“Yeah, the sun was real bad at that point and I really couldn’t see a whole lot. I think the fans right there, they got their money’s worth today.”

What was your plan at the beginning of the race?

“I was just trying to worry him (Brad Keselowski) to death and force him into a mistake and that’s what he did. As soon as I got
behind him he drove in really, really deep and I said, ‘He’ll never make the corner.’ And he ended up getting into the wall. To me it’s
a victory for all of the guys who he’s taken out over the last 10 weeks. There’s a lot of guys — I was out there and a lot of guys took swipes at him and missed today so to be honest with you I’m surprised he was even able to drive it in.”

Are you disappointed with the penalty that NASCAR gave you?

“No, not at all. That’s the thing, if you do something obvious and blatant which I did you would expect a penalty and I’ll be honest
with you I thought it was going to be two laps. So one lap I wasn’t feeling too bad about. I knew we could come back from it and our car was still in one piece. That’s the thing, I wouldn’t try to cause harm to anyone and I knew spinning him (Brad Keselowski) at the point that I was that he wasn’t going to get hurt and his car wasn’t going to get hurt. I just wanted to make his day a little bit tougher.”

How did your car handle during the race?

“It was a long day. We fought and we fought to try to get it and those long green-flag runs just really hurt us to getting the track
position that we needed. Luckily we had a caution at the end that helped with that and we just had too many issues. That mechanical failure with the headers that cracked just killed our horsepower. So when we needed all of the horsepower that we needed at the end it just couldn’t keep up with those guys.”

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Phoenix International Raceway – November 14, 2009

- Reed Sorenson earned a third-place finish in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Phoenix International
Raceway.

- Mike Bliss (eighth) and Kyle Busch (ninth) also earned top-10 finishes for Toyota.

- Camry driver Denny Hamlin led twice for 91 laps before a spin on lap 158 relegated him to a 12th-place finish.

- Toyota drivers Trevor Bayne (14th), David Reutimann (18th), Michael Annett (20th), Jason Leffler (27th) and Chris Cook
(43rd) were also in the field.

- This season, Camry drivers have recorded 14 victories, 65 top-fives, 122 top-10 finishes, and have led 3,719 laps.

- Busch now leads the unofficial NNS point standings by 190 points over second-place Carl Edwards with one race remaining
this season. Once he takes the green flag next weekend, Busch will clinch the 2009 NNS driver’s championship.

Finishing Position: 3rd

How was your run today?

“It was pretty good. I thought we were pretty average all day and then that last run when the sun came down I thought we were
really good. Then we passed the 29 (Clint Bowyer) and then ran really good lap times there at the end so I think our last
adjustment plus the sun going down gave us a really good car. We were pretty happy with that. I thought we had a car close at
the end to contend with Carl (Edwards) but we could just never get up there.”

How much did you have to work on your race car today?

“We made a few adjustments. You only get a few pit stops on this series here so I think we made the right adjustments. We
were just kind of battling two different issues on two different ends of the corners so it’s kind of hard to fix that on race day. I
think we did a good job.”

Has your performance in the Nationwide Series boosted your spirits this year?

“It helps a little bit to get back in the car Sunday and if you don’t run good then you feel bad again. It’s good to run good on
Saturday’s in the few Nationwide races that I’ve been able to run with Braun this year, it’s been really fun. It definitely gives
you a little bit of confidence as a driver especially when times are going tough and things are going on with your other team on
the Cup side. It definitely gives you confidence as a driver.”

No. 11 RIDEMAKERZ Toyota Camry

MIKE BLISS, No. 11 Ridemakerz.com Toyota Camry, CJM Racing

Finishing Position: 8th

How was your car today?

“I really thought we’d run better. We were just tight all day and just could not get it to turn center off. We fought it all day.
Some decisions Paul (Wolfe, crew chief) and I talked about, we just left it too tight. We should have had the car a lot freer. But,
we finished eighth and I guess that’s good.”

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 NOS Energy Drink Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 9th

JASON RATCLIFF, crew chief, No. 18 NOS Energy Drink Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

What happened early in the race to put you guys behind?

“We felt pretty good about our car yesterday in happy hour and didn’t make a lot of changes to it this morning. We just didn’t
start off right there. He (Kyle Busch) wasn’t happy with it and then I’m not sure what happened. We spun out there on our own
and the 29 (Clint Bowyer) ran into us a little bit or we collected the wall, whatever happened.

From that point on we were just
trying to survive. The guys did a good job on pit road. We just fell a little bit short of clinching it. I think all we have to do is
start next week and we’ll be the champions for 2009. We’re happy about that, we wish we would have had a better run today at
Phoenix. Clinching the title today would have been great. But, of course it would have been great to do it last week. It just
wasn’t meant to be today. All we have to do is start next week and we should have it.”

Denny Hamlin

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 20 GameStop Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 12th

How was your race?

“We had a good car at the beginning and it looked like — I chose the outside line to see if it would work and it just didn’t work
and we lost track position and then our car got really loose on one lap and I just ended up heating up the right rear tire too much
and then got shuffled back. I just didn’t have the car right there at the end to be able to race those guys.”

What happened with you and Brad Keselowski?

“I got into him in the center of (turn) one and two. I don’t know if we got loose or something and then after that he (Brad
Keselowski) spun us. I can sit here and bash him for the next 20 seconds or so and give you all a bunch of sound bites and
everything, but I’m just happy I signed up for next week’s Nationwide race. In turn there’s a lot of guys that owe him, there’s a
lot of guys that have a lot of chips that they’re going to cash in and I’m just going to be the first at the pay window.”

Do you think that NASCAR needs to get involved with Brad Keselowski at this point?

“Nah, nah I’ll take care of him, it’s no biggie. I got him. He’ll learn the hard way. I run these races for fun and he’s (Brad
Keselowski) in it trying to get second in the points. He’s going to run Sunday’s and I’m racing for a Chase and he’s racing to
make sure he stays in his seat so I’m just going to do my job and if the opportunity arises I’m going to handle the situation the
way I should and the way anybody else would.”

Trevor Bayne

TREVOR BAYNE, No. 99 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing

Finishing Position: 14th

How was your first race at Phoenix?

“We got to pass a lot of cars, that’s for sure. We started 37th after qualifying and going out first, that killed us. I love this race
track. It’s one of the most fun places I’ve been just because you get to drive it. It’s not riding around holding the steering wheel.
We had a pretty good car at the beginning. We followed the 18 (Kyle Busch) and the 29 (Clint Bowyer) all the way up through
the field. Once we got to about 12th we leveled off with everybody. We kept trying to adjust it and made some good
adjustments and we made some bad adjustments and unfortunately some bad adjustments were at the very end.

We had to try something, we were maintaining where we were at and we needed to try moving forward. We just lost too much rear grip and fell back a couple extra spots. I think if we would have left it alone we could have stayed in the top 10, but you know you have to try stuff. You have to keep moving forward because you know everyone else is going to be. It was a good run, I guess.
Good job in the pits. The car was halfway clean until about 20 (laps) to go and then they got in the right side of us in the wreck
in turn four. It was a decent day and we learned a lot.”

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Bristol Motor Speedway – August 21, 2009

- Camry drivers Jason Leffler (sixth) and Michael Annett (eighth) recorded top-10 finishes in Friday night’s NASCAR
Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway won by David Ragan.

- David Reutimann (11th) also posted a top-15 finish for Toyota on Friday night.

- Toyota drivers Trevor Bayne (24th), Kyle Busch (28th), Brad Coleman (29th), Brian Scott (30th), Kasey Kahne (37th) and
Coleman Pressley (39th) were also in the field.

- Busch remains atop the unofficial NNS point standings following Bristol, now 248 points ahead of second-place Carl
Edwards.

Finishing Position: 6th

How was your race tonight?

“It was a long day and I didn’t think we would run that good. We really did run well – attrition helped us get up there, but we
ran really well in the long run. That last restart was kind of a bummer because the 33 (Kevin Harvick) got loose and I thought I
was going to go by the 33 (Harvick) and the 16 (Matt Kenseth) and the caution came out. But overall it’s a good day. I
appreciate all the guys working hard and Great Clips and everybody that supports us.”

Michael Annett

MICHAEL ANNETT, No. 15 Pilot Travel Centers Toyota Camry, Germain Racing

Finishing Position: 8th

Can you talk about your race tonight?

“This is what these cars are supposed to look like. We had to change motors before qualifying, so we had to go to the back.
That’s just what the car should look like. This track is fun. They keep saying the track is changed and that kind of racing
doesn’t happen anymore, but we were bumping the crap out of each other. It was a blast.”

Where did your car work the best?

“I just had to keep going up higher and higher. The best I was running was probably when I was a foot off the wall. What I
really didn’t expect was to see everybody else hold that arc up the top. When I could get the car pointed back down off the
corner — that seemed to work the best for us.”

How did the crew chief change help your race team?

“I don’t think it was necessarily just changing one person. We got a bunch of people that got their hands around it, and we just
kind of sat down and knew something needed changing and we made a change. You can just tell watching my guys around the
garage area — their heads are up and they’re excited and they’re excited to make the car better. That’s been the coolest part.
We used to go to the track on the weekend and when we unloaded, that’s what we had. Now when we unload, we keep making
the car better through practice and even through the race. That’s been the biggest change I’ve seen.”

Finishing Position: 28th

What happened that took you out of the race?

“I saw a slow car up high and he came right across the nose, right in front of me. I didn’t know where to go except where I was
going. I had (Kevin) Harvick on my outside and he was able to miss it. Pretty unfortunate there that we got caught up in that
mess. The NOS Energy Drink Camry was awesome – it was good, it was coming right to the front. Got all the way up there
and was taking the lead, but mistakes happen sometimes – I’ve made plenty. We’ll go on and get them next week.”

Can you talk about what has put you behind the wall?

“I don’t know what exactly happened. The 07 (Chase Austin) had a problem there and came across traffic right in front of the
leaders – right in front of where I was going. I couldn’t pinch it any lower – I was cranked all the way left. Just unfortunate
for the whole NOS Energy Drink team – these guys did a great job today. We had a fast car, we quit practice early and we felt
good about it. We were coming right to the front, was passing for the lead and just got wadded up there. Hate it for the fans.”

How disappointing is it to be in the garage after just taking the lead of the race?

“It’s pretty bad and unfortunate for these guys. We quit practice early thinking we had a great race car and we were showing it
there. We came from 15th to first. Real unfortunate that it happened. I’ve made mistakes too. I guess the spotter just didn’t
see the spotter coming or whatever happened.

It stinks for these guys because they’ve done a great job today and they deserve
to win this thing about four or five times now – we just haven’t had the luck to do it. We’ll have to piece it back together and
get out there and collect points – it won’t be very much fun anymore.”

How can Chase Austin learn from this mistake for the next race?

“Sometimes you take for granted spotters and I’ve got the best one in the world – he’s great at what he does and really pays big
attention to what’s going on. He always gives me as much information as I can take. Chase (Austin) I guess didn’t have the
spotter tell him that the leaders were bearing down, stay high.

If he had a flat tire or whatever, it’s a rookie thing. You live and you learn – it’s his first time here, it’s whatever. It took out a great race car today and it hurt the One’s (Reed Sorenson) car’s chances at winning this thing – Reed (Sorenson) was good too. It stinks that it’s this early in the race and that we’re sitting here talking.”

What happened that took you out of the race?

“We had a good McDonald’s car here. We were moving up quick – that was cool. I was happy, the 18 (Kyle Busch) was still
in my mirror, which is a good sign when you’re racing in this series. These guys did a great job all day and worked hard. We
made a lot of gains from where we started this morning. We got together with the 66 (Steve Wallace) and there was no room
for him. We got together. It’s too bad – Stanley Tools and Ace Hardware were going to put up a lot of money for the
Children’s Miracle Network if we could win tonight and I think we had a decent shot.”

TOYOTA NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS)

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Michigan International Speedway – August 15, 2009

- Camry drivers Brian Vickers (second) and Kyle Busch (third) battled side-by-side on the final laps to earn top-three
finishes in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Michigan International Speedway.

- Vickers earned his first NNS pole of 2009 and led 78 (of 125) laps in the Michigan race.

- Other Camry drivers in the field included Jason Leffler (11th), Michael Annett (13th), David Reutimann (14th), Justin
Lofton (16th), Brad Coleman (23rd), Trevor Bayne (30th), Denny Hamlin (32nd) and Chase Miller (37th).

- Busch extended his points lead in the unofficial NNS point standings to 339 points over second-place Carl Edwards
who fell out of the race on lap two. Leffler (fourth), Logano (11th) and Annett (13th) are also in the top-15 for Toyota.

No. 32 Dollar General TOYOTA Camry

BRIAN VICKERS, No. 32 Dollar General Stores Toyota Camry, Braun Racing

Finishing Position: 2nd

What happened between you and Kyle Busch on the final lap?

“We were racing hard. He (Kyle Busch) was on the inside and I was on the outside. We were racing and 88 (Brad
Keselowski) took the high line and got around both of us. I’m frustrated for the Dollar General guys because we should
have had a win. I didn’t see him (Brad Keselowski) coming. Kyle (Busch) was crying like a little girl after the race and he
came up and was whining because I was racing him so hard. I thought this was racing – I thought this was what we were
supposed to do. We raced fine the whole race – I caught him and he let me go, he caught me and I let him go. Then at the
end of the race we were racing for the win and he’s crying about it. I don’t know what he wants.”

Brian Vickers

What is your response to Kyle Busch saying what you did in the closing laps was ‘stupid’?

“I am so sorry – I forgot it was the ‘Kyle Busch show’. I thought we were racing for a win. I am really sorry for the Dollar
General guys. We had a great car. We were too loose on the start of the run – he (Kyle Busch) was better. I thought it was
my job to hold him off – apparently not. He came over to the car after we came in and knocked our fender in, which was
unnecessary and then started crying like a little baby.

I asked if he would just give me a minute to get out and we could
talk about it like men. If he wanted to fight – that’s fine with me. As soon as I got out he ran off. It’s a shame that it went
down like that. We were racing hard and I thought it was a good race. Congratulations to the 88 (Brad Keselowski), he
snuck around both of us and I didn’t see him coming. I let my guys down – we should have been able to win this race.
Last I checked it wasn’t the’ Kyle Busch show’ – it was a Nationwide race and I was supposed to race him for the win.”

Did you expect Brad Keselowski to make the pass on the final lap?

“I didn’t know he was coming – I didn’t know he was that close. We went down into turn three coming to the white and
18 (Kyle Busch) got me loose and I chased it all the way up the race track. By that time the 88 (Brad Keselowski) caught
us. Once he got to my outside – I was already too loose anyway by myself and then with him on the outside I couldn’t
hold him off.”

How was your race car today?

“We had a good car. We were better on the long run, on the short run we were too loose, the 18 (Kyle Busch) was better.
We had a good race all day back and forth throughout the runs and then there at the end we were just racing hard for the
win and the 88 (Brad Keselowski) snuck around both of us on the outside.

We were really loose there at the end and at that
point my focus was trying to hold off the 18 for the win and got really loose down in turn three, getting into turn three. I’m
not sure how close the 18 was to me, if it was aero-loose or just got out from under me and I chased up the track and by that
time the 88 caught us. I thought I could race him back down to turn three but I was just way too loose at the bottom.
Whoever had the outside groove had the advantage pretty much most of the day. That’s why all the leaders took the
outside lane on the restarts, I feel like.”

Did you feel like you were racing each other clean all the way up to the incident at the end of the race?

“We had good racing all day. I don’t know why he (Kyle Busch) was so upset after the race. I thought it was good, hard
racing. I didn’t realize it was my job to let him go and win the race. At that point coming to the white flag, whether the 88
(Brad Keselowski) was coming or not was irrelevant – my job is to try to win the race. It’s a last lap and at the point the
greatest threat was the 18 (Kyle Busch). I was side-drafting him just like he was side-drafting me all day, that’s what we
do, that’s what we race for. My job is to win the race and that’s what I was trying to do. I didn’t hit him and I didn’t move
him. I didn’t do anything dirty, we raced down the front stretch. The 88 got into my outside and him and I raced down the
back stretch. I didn’t think nothing of it until he hit me in the pits.”

Can you move on from this incident?

“I race everybody the way they race me. The Richmond incident that he (Kyle Busch) was talking about was he got to me
and the first turn he got to me, he raced me up the race track and I moved him back up the race track the next turn. After
that, we’ve been fine. I don’t know what else to do. I race people the way they race me. We were racing for the win.
Kyle, if you’re going to be upset about that, I mean I’m sorry.

That’s my job is to try to win the race. If anyone else
disagrees, if anyone else thinks I should have just rolled out of it and let Kyle (Bush) win, then please raise your hand. I
don’t know what else I’m supposed to do. I’m fine, the only thing I’m mad about was the way he handled it after the race.
I’m sure we can get past that. I want to have a good race tomorrow. But there again, I’m always going to race everybody
the way they race me.”

Kyle Busch

QKYLE BUSCH, No. 18 NOS Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 3rd

What was your view at the end of the race?

“(Brian Vickers) hung on my right rear quarter panel all the way down the front straightaway and gave the win to the 88
(Brad Keselowski) car. He slowed us down so much – he had no idea the 88 (Brad Keselowski) car was coming and the 88
(Brad Keselowski) just drove right by both of us on the outside because Brian Vickers was trying to slow both of us down.
It was just stupid. If he would have ran his own line up at the top of the track and I would have won my own line down at
the bottom of the track it could have been a battle between us two.

Unfortunately, you race with idiots and I guess you’ll have that sometimes, but the NOS Energy Drink Camry was good today, just not good enough. I felt like we had a good handling race car on the long runs but unfortunately there we didn’t have long runs at the end of the race. I’m sure I’m complaining and I’m whining and I’m a cry baby but that’s uncalled for. It’s just stupid. I would have ran my own line instead of just giving it to the third place car in order to battle it out between the top-two, who deserved the win and deserved to battle the race out at the end. He didn’t deserve to win.”

Can you talk about your race today?

“It was a fine run. The car was fast, just not fast enough. Unfortunately there we had to race with the 32 (Brian Vickers)
too much today and there at the end of the race when we did our final pit stop on pit road we had a great pit stop and got off
and got out and we were leading. If the race would have went green, I think we would have had it but unfortunately there
at the end of the race we were racing too hard with the 32 and I don’t think he knew the 88 (Brad Keselowski) was coming
and blew by both of us.”

Did you feel like you were racing each other clean all the way up to the incident at the end of the race?

“During the race it was fine. We were having a good battle up front, sometimes my car would be good on a few laps and
his (Brian Vickers) car would be good on a few laps and then he’d kind of check out there on a long run. There at the end
he bobbled in three, I got under him coming off of four and got all the way down to the grass trying to get away from him
and he just hung on my right rear quarter panel side-drafting me and wasn’t paying attention to the mirror that the 88 (Brad
Keselowski) was coming. I knew the 88 was coming and man, I was stuck – I had nowhere to go. If I would have moved
up I would have been into him, if I would have gone lower I would have been in the dirt so I had nothing to do. It was just
unfortunate there that the side-draft played that big of role and lost both the winning cars a chance to win the race.”

Can you move on from this incident?

“I don’t know. Ever since Richmond, I’ve had a problem with him (Brian Vickers) racing with him on the race track. This
is just another escalation of that. He’ll be upfront tomorrow and I’ll be in the back so we won’t have anything tomorrow.”

What happened to your car at the end of the race?

“Our car was a little loose at the beginning of the race. Jerry Baxter (crew chief) and the crew were able to make it better
and better all race. I blew a right-front tire right at the end of the race and hit the wall. It wasn’t the day we wanted.”

DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 CARFAX Toyota Camry, CJM Racing

TOYOTA NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS)

Post-Race Notes & Quotes

Iowa Speedway – August 1, 2009

- Kyle Busch (second) was the highest-finishing Toyota driver at the inaugural NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race
at Iowa Speedway on Saturday. He led three times for 84 of 250 laps

- Busch has had nine consecutive top-two finishes, which ties the series record set by Jack Ingram in 1983.
Camry drivers Jason Leffler (third), Kelly Bires (fifth) and Scott Lagasse, Jr. (ninth) also recorded top-10 finishes.
Des Moines-native Michael Annett finished 11th at his home track of Iowa Speedway.

- Toyota drivers Brad Coleman (13th), Trevor Bayne (26th), Brian Ickler (32nd) and Coleman Pressley (41st) were also
in the field.

- Busch maintains a 207 point lead in the unofficial NNS point standings over second-place Carl Edwards. Leffler
(fourth), Joey Logano (eighth), Lagasse, Jr. (12th) and Annett (15th) are also in the top-15 for Toyota.

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 Pizza Ranch Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 2nd

How would you describe that battle at the finish?

“It was a good battle, but the Pizza Ranch Toyota wasn’t good enough today, I guess or I wasn’t good enough , probably
me. We fought tight off all day and then there at the end we were loose off. I don’t know what to do to win these races.
Very, very disappointing, very, very frustrating and I guess I just come here to finish second in these deals.”

What do you think of the first Nationwide race at Iowa?

“It was a good race hopefully for the fans with (Brad) Keselowski and I battling it out there at the end. Unfortunately we
weren’t quite good enough there to beat him even though we came in and we took two tires. We thought we were going to
have what we needed in order to beat him but we were fighting tight all day, center off the corner and there at the last run I
was loose.

Apparently I don’t know what I need in my race cars in order to win these races at the end of them. It’s a
frustrating day. I really want to thank Pizza Ranch and Toyota, all the guys that worked on the car and worked awfully
hard to fix our problem all weekend but we were just never good enough really to keep up with the 88 (Brad Keselowski).
He passed us every run and took off and checked out. We knew we had a second-place car today but when you’re that
close and you have fresher tires than the other guy you should be able to beat him.”

What does it mean to tie the series record for most consecutive top-two finishes?

“I wish they were all first, that’d certainly be nice then we’d have broken another record – we’d have the most wins in a
single season. Man, I should be so grateful and so happy to finish second but I am not. When you finish second 12 times
in a year, I’m sorry guys, but when you finish second (this many) times it just gets to you and gets to you really, really bad
because there’s only one car in front of you that you needed to beat that day and you didn’t get the job done. Whether it’s
me, the car – I have no idea. I put all the pressure on myself to come out here and win these things, and when I don’t get
the job done I feel like I let my team down.”

Were you surprised Brad Keselowski was able to pass you at the end?

“Not really, I had been fighting tight center-off all day and we made an adjustment there on that final stop and we finally
got it loose. Then I was just loose, I was chattering the right rear of the last five, eight laps, whatever we had that last
restart. It was just a matter of time. He had such good drive off the corners and good turn-ability that he was just able to
have the best car out there today and I felt like the tires were going to be the right call to win the race and it looked like
they were.

If we could have went green the rest of the way I might have been able to hold him off. When you start on
fresh tires and go a whole run, (tires) are better than if you get a caution. When we got that caution it just brought his tires
back to my tires, so we were basically even after that. You go out there and you run eight laps, you come in and work on
your car, you go back out there and your car is fast for three or four laps. It’s the same if it was on new or old tires for the
first four laps. Tires were so hard today, I wasn’t a fan of them at all that I feel like that was a product of not better racing
than what we had here today, too was a hard tire.”

JASON LEFFLER, No. 38 Great Clips Toyota Camry, Braun Racing

Finishing Position: 3rd

What did you think about the number of cautions today?

“It’s just the way the rules package is. The way NASCAR has our motor package and all that, it’s just hard to pass because
no one has any horsepower. Until they fix that it’s going to be a lot of beating and banging of people running into each
other. We don’t have enough gear ratio or horsepower to get a pass done. You get underneath a guy and you get bound up
and you’re kind of just stuck alongside of him. So, really the only way to finish a pass is to drive it in harder than him and
that’s when you have the accidents.”

What do you think of think of Iowa Speedway?

“The track was awesome. It cleaned up, it got a lot wider than I thought it would. It was racy, if they do a few tweaks to
our cars we’re going to put on one whale of a show, even better than it was today. It’s really awesome, the atmosphere
with the fans and the people that run the track, it’s been a really great experience.”

How was your race?

“It was another solid finish for the Great Clips Camry. We started off really bad and Scott (Zipadelli, crew chief) made a
couple big, huge adjustments and it paid off for us. We got up front with some help there and it just worked out. A top-
three, we’re happy with that. We’ll go on to Watkins Glen.”

What would you think if you could tie the series record for most consecutive top-twos in a season?

“If I was in (Kyle Busch’s) shoes, I’d probably be upset, really with as good as he is and as good as they run. They go out
there and win races. He’s right, you have one guy, all you have to do is beat one more guy so you’re really close. All in
all, I would take the season but I can understand where he’s coming from.”

KELLY BIRES, No. 10 Fraternal Order of Eagles Toyota Camry, Braun Racing

Finishing Position: 5th

How was your race?

“The Fraternal Order of Eagles Toyota Camry here was really good. We were good in practice, we worked on it and got a
good balance. We started off tight with the race, made good adjustments and the last run I actually got a little bit too loose
which kept us from running in the top-three. It was a solid top-five once we got our balance right and everything was
good. Everyone did a good job on pit road and I worked hard in the seat, they made great adjustments and all in all we
came home with a good top-five.”

How does it feel to be able to run this strong?

“It seems like every time we get to run the whole race we finish in the top five or top 10 this year. It’s only the third race
under my belt where we’ve done the full race this year so I guess we just have to get a couple more.”

SCOTT LAGASSE, JR., No. 11 America’s Incredible Pizza Company Toyota Camry, CJM Racing

Finishing Position: 9th

MICHAEL ANNETT, No. 15 Northland Toyota Camry, Germain Racing

Finishing Position: 11th

What was it like racing near your hometown?

“It was great to pull off the finish we did after starting so far back in the field. I know a lot of family and friends were in
the stands supporting me, so I was excited to bring home the finish we did for my hardworking No. 15 team and Northland
Oil at my home track.”

BRAD COLEMAN, No. 20 BigSpot.com Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 13th

How was your race?

“I had a really good car all day. The BigSpot.com Toyota was really good. We were running in the top-five and
sometimes in the top-10, top-five all day. I went under the 32 (Brian Ickler) car and I got loose and I couldn’t save it and
wrecked us both. I feel bad because he didn’t deserve it but its racing. It’s happened to me before and I feel bad it
happened to him.”

Have you been able to learn a lot from racing in the JGR Nationwide program?

“I’m definitely learning some more patience. We haven’t had everything go our way this year. At Gateway we lost a
clutch and we finished fifth and that was the best race we’ve had with nothing going on. All the others we’ve either been
wrecked or something has happened. It’s been a good year, but it’s been a tough year at the same time.”

TREVOR BAYNE, No. 99 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota Camry, Michael Waltrip Racing

Finishing Position: 26th

BRIAN ICKLER, No. 32 Dollar General Stores Toyota Camry, Braun Racing

Finishing Position: 32nd

What happened to take you out of the race?

“We were alright. I thought we had a pretty good run there, we were cracking the top 10 and were pretty happy. I thought
we were going to get a good run for Dollar General here today. I got dumped by the 20 (Brad Coleman). I lost respect, or
never really had respect, so no big deal.”

COLEMAN PRESSLEY, No. 47 ConstructionJobs.com Toyota Camry, JTG-Daugherty Racing

Finishing Position: 41st
