ARCA Racing Series Race No. 16, Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care, Du Quoin State Fairgrounds, Du Quoin, Illinois

Race Information: Event: Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care, Monday, September 6 at 1:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Du Quoin State Fairgrounds Qualifying: Monday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. Local Time; Track Length: 1.0-mile clay.

Last Time Out; Chicagoland Speedway: On the heels of his first win of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series season at the Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield), driver Patrick Sheltra and his Sheltra Motorsports team headed to Chicagoland Speedway looking to do it all over again. After qualifying a career-best second, Sheltra took control of the ARCA field for a whopping 85 laps en route to his second consecutive win and third of his career. The triumph marked the first win for Sheltra on a speedway. It was also Sheltra’s first visit to victory lane in a Toyota Camry. His previous wins at Salem (Ind.) Speedway and the Illinois State Fairgrounds both came under the Dodge Charger banner.

Welcome To My Turf: Patrick Sheltra is no stranger to the dirt and for the eighth time in his ARCA Racing Series career, Sheltra will return to the dirt in a stock car gunning for win number four Monday afternoon. Sheltra showcased his driving talent on the dirt competing in USAC and UMP late model events throughout the United States before making the transition to asphalt full time in 2007. On Monday, Sheltra will look to conquer the Illinois sweep and record his third top-10 finish at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in four starts. In 2008, Sheltra finished a close second to nine-time champion Frank Kimmel. In his Du Quoin debut in 2007, Sheltra finished sixth after starting 12th.

Du Quoin; One Year Ago: After almost tasting victory at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds in 2008, Sheltra and his Sheltra Motorsports team returned to the clay track looking for their second consecutive top-five. Unfortunately, after qualifying 10th, Sheltra blasted his No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger into the top-five before the engine expired on lap 30, leaving Sheltra with a frustrating 31st place finish.

Now You See Me; Now You Don’t: Bringing back a blast from the past, the Sheltra Motorsports team will sport a unique but familiar paint scheme for Monday’s Southern Illinois 100 presented by Federated Car Care. The team will utilize the same paint scheme they ran with their Dodge last year at Du Quoin which consisted of a very slick looking all-camouflage No. 60 entry. The 16th race of the 2010 season marks the second and final time this year where the Mooresville, North Carolina-based operation will run the popular scheme. In Toledo, the team will transform back into their familiar green and neon orange layout.

Getting Into The Holiday Spirit Now: Before turning his attention to the 1,309 race held for the 57-year tour, Sheltra will visit the American Legion Post 306 in Metropolis, Illinois on Sunday, September 5 to start spreading awareness and gather interest for this year’s “Toys for Tots” campaign. The mission of the “Toys for Tots” program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of “Toys for Tots” is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive and patriotic citizens.

Sunday’s event officially kicks off at 1:00 p.m. with Sheltra scheduled to sign autographs beginning at 2:00 p.m. The American Legion Post 306 is located at 321 Market Street in Metropolis, Illinois 62960-1829, about an hour and a half from the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. The American Legion will also have food and snacks available for purchase with the proceeds going towards the 2010 edition of “Toys for Tots.” Further information about the event is available by calling 618.771.7316.

Wanna Come Along For The Ride? Marketing Partnerships Still Available: Multiple cost-effective marketing partnership packages are still available for the 2010 ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR seasons for Patrick Sheltra. Let Sheltra Motorsports show you how to find victory lane in more ways than one! For additional information on how to be apart of our winning organization, please contact Brandon Hinson (brandon@patricksheltra.com) or email marketing@patricksheltra.com.

Close But No Cigar; Bill France Four Crown: Just 10 points kept Sheltra from claiming the 2010 Bill France Four Crown award at Chicagoland Speedway. ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards competitor Joey Coulter edged out the Indiantown, Florida native for the special title by 10 markers after the overall average of four unique race tracks. Coulter scored the best average finish of any driver on the tour at the treacherous short track of Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, the newly built New Jersey Motorsports Park road course, the Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield), the first of two dirt races this year and Chicagoland Speedway, one of the fastest tracks on the tour. If not for an engine failure on the final lap at New Jersey Motorsports Park which relegated the team to a 13th place finish, Sheltra would have claimed the title. However, Sheltra’s second-place outing was his best finish in four prior tries at the prestigious award.

PVW To The Rescue: Despite winning the Allen Crowe 100 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield) on August 22nd, the No. 60 Dodge Charger had to make an emergency trip to Performance Vehicle Works (PVW) in Cornelius, North Carolina for a full-body repair on the Chrysler nameplate. During the 100-lap contest, Sheltra was involved in two separate incidents which destroyed the body. Quick work though by spotter Timmy McKichan and his crew will allow Sheltra to utilize the same winning piece at Du Quoin on Monday afternoon.

New Record Set; But Thirsty For More: While eclipsing his eighth top-five finish of the year and second consecutive win at Chicagoland Speedway, Patrick Sheltra continues to rewrite his own personal record books for the number of finishes inside the top-five and top-10 for a full-season. In his previous three full-time seasons, Sheltra had posted a season high of four top-five finishes in 2009. Sheltra’s personal best overall season of nine top-10 finishes in 2008 was overtaken again by his performance in the Ansell Protective Gloves 150. Thus far in 2010, Sheltra has mastered two wins, eight top-fives and 12 top-10 finishes in 15 races. Sheltra is hoping to expand his new personal record with five races remaining this year.

Point’s Check: 15 races down, five to go, Sheltra with the guidance of crew chief Jon Wolfe sits third in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings accumulating 3360 points and 10 markers behind leader Craig Goess. The driver nicknamed “Mr. Showtime” rose to third and gained 30 points overall on the championship lead after notching his third career victory in the Ansell Protective Gloves 150 at Chicagoland Speedway. The 24-year old Sheltra also controls the third position in the ARS car owner standings. The top-seven ARCA Racing Series drivers are separated by just 155 points to the leader for control of the top spot in the championship chase. Earlier this year, Sheltra held the top-spot for three consecutive races (Toledo, Michigan and Pocono) in a row after also sharing the top-spot with Parker Kligerman for one race (Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway) in 2009.

Sheltra’s Covered In Special Point Standings Too: While the Sheltra Motorsports team is searching for their first championship, the team is still after a host of other awards too. Patrick Sheltra and mother Grace Sheltra leads the ARCA “special points” Superspeedway Challenge sector. Car owner Grace Sheltra leads Kevin Cywinski (No. 32) by a 90-point gap entering the final speedway race of the season at Kansas Speedway on September 30. Currently, Patrick Sheltra is first in the CGS Imaging Hard Charger, first in the Racing Electronics Lighting Challenge and first in the Fast Track High Performance Driving School award.

Nice Statistic; Solid Stats: By posting his 12th top-10 finish of the season at the Chicagoland Speedway on August 27, Sheltra is the only driver in the ARCA Racing Series to finish inside the top-10 in 12 of the 15 races completed thus far in 2010. Sheltra kicked off his strongest start to an ARCA season with a fifth place performance at Daytona, a 10th place performance at Palm Beach, a fourth place run at Salem Speedway, a seventh place outing at Texas Motor Speedway, his season-best second at ‘Dega, an eighth at Toledo Speedway, a fourth place run at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a third place outing in the Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan International Speedway, a sixth place at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a second-place outing in the Berlin ARCA 200 at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, a 13th place outing at New Jersey Motorsports Park and most recently, a win on the dirt at the Illinois State Fairgrounds and another win in round number 15 at Chicagoland Speedway.

Patrick Sheltra ARCA Career At-A-Glance: Entering Du Quoin, Sheltra has 82 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with three career victories at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009), the Illinois State Fairgrounds (August 2010) and Chicagoland Speedway (August 2010). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 18 top-fives and posted 34 top-10 finishes. A second place qualifying effort at Chicagoland Speedway (August 2010) is Sheltra’s best time trials effort to date. He has controlled the ARCA field nine times for 273 laps.

On Chicagoland Speedway: “What an awesome car we had at Chicagoland. Jon (Wolfe, crew chief) and the team gave me the best speedway car I’ve ever had. Triad gave us a killer motor. The car was strong from the moment we unloaded. To qualifying second was big for us but then to win the biggest race of my career under the lights at Chicagoland Speedway was literally one of the greatest moments of my life. I was super happy for everyone involved with Sheltra Motorsports”

On The Du Quoin State Fairgrounds: “I’m going back to Du Quoin with unfinished business. We had a stout car there last year but an engine failure potentially cost us a victory. I want Du Quoin and I want it bad.”

On Going For The Illinois Sweep: “We have a great shot. To win three in a row is huge for anyone but that would be a first for me and Sheltra Motorsports. I know we can do it, we just need to stay focused and in the game. I don’t want the sweep just for me, I want it for everyone including my guys who have kept our Sheltra Motorsports car up-front all year long.”

On The Championship Chase: “It feels good to be within 10 points of the lead but Craig (Goess) and Frank (Kimmel) are going to be good the rest of the year. I really think it’s going to come down to the team who has the best luck in the final five races that will take home the championship. Right now, our chances are looking real good!”

Sheltra Motorsports, Du Quoin State Fairgrounds Pre-Race Quotes: Jon Wolfe, crew chief of the No. 60 Patrick Sheltra.com / Ferguson Pipe Dodge Charger

On The Momentum Heading To Du Quoin After Winning At The Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield) and Chicagoland: “Things are starting to really click for us, and I could not be any happier to go back to a dirt track on Monday.”

On Why Bringing The Same Dodge Charger From Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield) To Du Quoin Was Crucial: “First we could not have turned this car around without the help of Timmy McKichan and his crew at Performance Vehicle Works. Those guys were able to repair the body while we were in Chicagoland. And our guys have put in a bunch of hours to get it back together, as most every piece was damaged. It’s just a good and been one of Patrick’s favorite pieces, so we felt like it was crucial to have it for him in order to have a solid chance at completing the Illinois sweep.”

On The Recent Climb In The Championship Chase: “We knew that if we could stay in the hunt coming into this stretch that we would have an advantage. We will not give up, and I think that Springfield was a perfect example of that. So we will not be happy unless we leave Du Quoin leading the points.”

On Going For The Illinois Sweep: “That would be pretty cool, we are still a little bitter over not winning the Bill France Four Crown, so an Illinois sweep would probably be something that has not been done before.”

On What The Last Two Wins Have Meant To Him As A Crew Chief: “To me our team winning has been more about our team, so many hours and so much sacrifice. No one deserves it more than this team. That is what keeps me motivated, we had been so close and now we are just hungry for more.”

Illinois State Fairgrounds, Springfield, Illinois

Race Information: Event: Allen Crowe 100, Sunday, August 22, at 1:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Illinois State Fairgrounds Qualifying: Sunday, August 22, at 11:00 a.m. Local Time; Track Length: 1.0-mile clay.

Last Time Out; New Jersey Motorsports Park: On the heels of a second-place run at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway a week prior, Patrick Sheltra and his Sheltra Motorsports team returned to New Jersey Motorsports Park looking for another solid outing. After placing in the top-10 in both practices, Sheltra qualified 10th but quickly moved into the top-five in the early stages of the Garden State ARCA 150 presented by American Red Cross. Unfortunately, the team would face adversity during the course of the 67-lap event as a broken shock tower would stall the performance of Sheltra’s No. 60 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. A temporary solution though would re ignite Sheltra and place him back inside the top-10 but an engine failure on the last lap of the 13th race of the season would ultimately result in a 13th place finish.

Welcome To My Turf: Patrick Sheltra is no stranger to the dirt and for the seventh time in his ARCA Racing Series career, Sheltra will return to the dirt in a stock car gunning for win number two Sunday afternoon. Sheltra showcased his driving talent on the dirt competing in USAC and UMP late model events throughout the United States before making the transition to asphalt full time in 2007. On Sunday, Sheltra will make his fourth start at the Illinois State Fairgrounds and has two top-fives and three top-15 place finishes in three races. He has a perfect record for laps completed in those three contests at 305 (100; 2007; 102; 2008; 103 2009;) laps respectively.

Springfield; One Year Ago: Vowing to improve on a heartbreaking finish in the 2008 Allen Crowe 100, Sheltra returned to the Illinois State Fairgrounds looking for revenge. Sheltra qualified his No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger fourth before finding himself in contention for his second win of the season before having to eventually hunker down and cross the line third. It was Sheltra’s second podium finish at the one-mile dirt track in three starts and fourth top-five of the 2009 season.

Now You See Me; Now You Don’t: Bringing back a blast from the past, the Sheltra Motorsports team will sport a unique but familiar paint scheme for Sunday’s Allen Crowe 100. The team will utilize the same paint scheme they ran with their Dodge last year at Springfield which consisted of a very slick looking all-camouflage No. 60 entry. The team only plans to run the popular paint scheme in one more ARCA Racing Series outing this season before blending back to their familiar green and neon orange layout.

Talk About Diversity: Three races ago, Sheltra and his Jon Wolfe-led Sheltra Motorsports team tackled Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a 2.5-mile triangle and finished sixth. Two races ago, the team headed to the smallest track on the circuit of Berlin (Mich.) Raceway where they muscled a second-place finish. Last weekend, the series returned to New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) for the second road course event of the year.

Finally, Sheltra treks back to his roots of dirt with a stop for the ARCA Racing Series at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois. Sheltra has recorded a top-10 finish at each of these racecourses since his invasion into the ARCA Racing Series in 2007. Berlin (Mich.) Raceway also kicked off the start of the Bill France Four Crown, which is a separate title in itself where the driver with the best average finish of four selected race tracks will receive a bonus at the championship banquet in December.

After That Crown Too: With the Bill France Four Crown officially kicking at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway two races ago, Sheltra trails leader Joey Coulter by 60 points for a separate trophy compared to the ARCA Racing Series championship. After two of the four events, Sheltra is sixth overall just 30 points behind second-place held by Frank Kimmel. The Bill France Four Crown consists of four differently configured race tracks, Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, New Jersey Motorsports Park, Illinois State Fairgrounds (dirt) and finally, Chicagoland Speedway at the end of the month. The driver with the best average finish of those four race tracks will receive a bonus at the championship banquet in December.

New Record Set; But Thirsty For More: While eclipsing his sixth top-five finish of the year at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway earlier this month, Patrick Sheltra now holds a new record for the number of finishes inside the top-five and top-10 for a full-season. In his previous three full-time seasons, Sheltra had posted a season high of four top-five finishes in 2009. Sheltra’s personal best overall season of nine top-10 finishes in 2008 was overtaken by his performance in the ARCA Berlin 200. Sheltra is hoping to expand his new personal record with seven races remaining this year.

Point’s Check: 13 races down, seven to go, Sheltra with the guidance of crew chief Jon Wolfe sits fourth in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings accumulating 2935 points and 95 markers behind new series leader Frank Kimmel . The driver nicknamed “Mr. Showtime” fell to fifth following his 13th run at New Jersey Motorsports Park last Sunday. The 24-year old Sheltra also controls the fifth position in the ARS car owner standings. The top-seven ARCA Racing Series drivers are separated by just 105 points to the leader for control of the top spot in the championship chase. Earlier this year, Sheltra held the top-spot for three consecutive races (Toledo, Michigan and Pocono) in a row after also sharing the top-spot with Parker Kligerman for one race (Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway) in 2009.

Nice Statistic; Solid Stats: By posting his 10th top-10 finish of the season at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway on August 7, Sheltra is one of four drivers in the ARCA Racing Series to finish inside the top-10 in 10 of the 13 races completed thus far in 2010. The other three drivers consist of Frank Kimmel, Craig Goess and Mikey Kile. Sheltra kicked off his strongest start to an ARCA season with a fifth place performance at Daytona, a 10th place performance at Palm Beach, a fourth place run at Salem Speedway, a seventh place outing at Texas Motor Speedway, his season-best second at ‘Dega, an eighth at Toledo Speedway, a fourth place run at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a third place outing in the Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan International Speedway, a sixth place at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, a second-place outing in the Berlin ARCA 200 at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway and most recently a 13th place outing for round number 13 at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Patrick Sheltra ARCA Career At-A-Glance: Entering Springfield, Sheltra has 80 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 16 top-fives and posted 32 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway (April 2009) and Michigan International Speedway (June 2010) is Sheltra’s best time trials effort to date. He has controlled the ARCA field seven times for 173 laps.

On New Jersey Motorsports Park: “Jon (Wolfe, crew chief) and the team gave me a great car but we had circumstances occur out of control that ultimately resulted in a discouraging finish. If there was any good news leaving New Jersey, we didn’t lose that many points and we’re still in the championship game.”

On Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield): “This is our weekend to return to victory lane. We’ve been so close this year that we really reserve to celebrate on Sunday. I know the ARCA Racing Series is on an impressive stretch of first-time winners right now, but I would have no problem breaking that trend if it meant taking my guys to victory lane.”

On The Key To Winning At Springfield: “Saving your equipment. Tires are not as crucial here as they would be at Du Quoin but keeping your fenders tucked in and minding you matters is the key to succeeding at Springfield. You also need to have a good handling car, one that does not want to spin out and a car that you can hammer back down in the gas without completely sliding it. We have a good car this weekend and we’re going to show it.”

On The Bill France Four Crown: “Joey (Coulter, leader) is on a tear lately. Good for him. He’s had a lot of bad luck this year but by no means are we out of contention for the Bill France Four Crown title. We’re only 60 points behind him for the lead and I’m expecting us to be strong at Springfield and Chicagoland Speedway next Friday night, so hopefully when push comes to shove, we can make an impressive comeback and grab that crown.”

On The Championship Chase: “Man, there is just no room for error this year in points. A perfect example was last weekend at New Jersey. We still had an okay run with 13th but lost points on some of our competitors. This chase is going to come down to Rockingham, guaranteed. Luckily for us, there are some good tracks for Sheltra Motorsports coming up, so I have a positive outlook that we’ll clearly be in the hunt.”

Sheltra Motorsports, Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield) Pre-Race Quotes: Jon Wolfe, crew chief of the No. 60 Recycling Services / Ferguson Pipe Dodge Charger

On Overall Thoughts On Illinois State Fairgrounds (Springfield): “First off I love the dirt races. I started out my career dirt racing, so this weekend is exciting and the approaching race for Du Quoin (September 6) are a thrill for me and our team.”

On His Driver’s Potential Advantage At Springfield: “Patrick’s dirt experience should be very helpful as far as feedback to us about the car and the track as the surface changes over the course of the day. Ultimately, we’re hoping we can win the Allen Crowe 100 on Sunday.”

On Using The Dirt Races To Try And Close The Gap In The Championship Chase: “With Patrick’s dirt background we are expected to do well at these events, but the top runners this year have stepped up in many ways. So although I feel we have the best chance of picking up the win, the championship contenders will not be far behind.”

On The Grueling Stretch Of Races And Keeping The Team Mentally Prepared: “The guys have been very hard at work preparing for this stretch, the biggest challenge is getting your mind set for the different tracks and a wide variety of car set up and preparation. The travel is also a big part of these next few weeks, as we no sooner get back to the shop, it seems its time to go again.”

On The Goals And Expectations For The Remainder Of The 2010 ARCA Racing Series Season: “The biggest thing for me is winning some races, I never would have guessed that we would be this far into the season and have not seen victory lane. Actually I’m pretty mad about it, so we have to meet that goal. We are also still focused on the championship, which is still very much in our reach.”

Patrick Sheltra

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (August 19, 2010) – - The first of two dirt races are upon the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards tour this weekend starting with the Illinois State Fairgrounds and without hesitation, it would be more than fair to put Patrick Sheltra and his Mooresville, North Carolina based Sheltra Motorsports team on the radar screen as a threat to win Sunday’s Allen Crowe 100.

The anticipation for Sunday’s race for the Indiantown, Florida native could be compared to a six year old waking up on Christmas morning, running down a flight of stairs and seeing a bundle of presents left by Santa Claus. Though the Holidays are still months away, Sheltra joyfully would accept his second-career ARCA win in the 14th race of the season as an extremely early “Christmas” present.

“I love racing on the dirt, especially in ARCA,” said Sheltra, a four-year ARCA pro. “We’ve never really have had any terrible finishes at Springfield despite some bad luck but we haven’t been able to seal the deal with a win. Our consistency this year obviously makes us a favorite, but I’m ready to be more than a favorite. I’m ready to be a winner!”

The Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is often referred to as one of the most diverse Motorsports sanctioning bodies on the planet and Sheltra admits it would be hard to argue that statement. “How cool is it when you can swing a 3400-pound stock car around on the dirt? A little slipping and sliding and a lot of car control all in 100 laps. Racing in a stock car doesn’t get much better than that.”

Patrick Sheltra

Sheltra, a successful dirt late model ace before moving up the ladder to stock cars added, “I think these dirt races are exactly what the racing doctor ordered for us. Overall, our team is very excited about Springfield and the upcoming race at DuQuoin because we know our chances of winning there increase tremendously. While I’m confident we have a shot at being victorious this weekend, the field is going to be strong which should put on a great show for the fans.”

After finishing 13th in the most recent ARCA race at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) last Sunday afternoon, Sheltra sits fifth in the championship standings just 95 markers behind current points’ leader and nine-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel. Just 20 markers separate the 24-year old from moving into fourth and a mere 50 credits keeps Sheltra from re-auditioning on the championship podium.

“Truly, this (Springfield) is one of our best chances to make-up some ground in the standings. Frank (Kimmel) is always tough on the dirt but I feel like that when we unload on Sunday morning, we should have a good enough No. 60 Sheltra Motorsports / PatrickSheltra.com Dodge Charger that we can acquire some qualifying bonus points and with a positive finish, we can erase some of our deficit to the others.”

This weekend, the Sheltra Motorsports team will revert to a blast from the past when the team led by veteran crew chief Jon Wolfe will unload the No. 60 Recycling Services / Ferguson Pipe Dodge tricked out in an all camouflage paint scheme swooshed in with streaks of neon orange. The paint scheme was a normal fixture for the Sheltra Motorsports team in 2008 before scaling back and running the popular wrap only on the dirt races last year.

“The camouflage car has always been one of my favorite paint schemes,” sounded the avid hunter. “It’s a layout that instantly grabs your attention and has been very popular not only in the garage area but with the fans too. It makes sense to run it here and at DuQuoin. Just maybe, we’ll be camouflage enough where no one will be able to see us on Sunday!”

Sheltra, who will compete in the 1,307 race since the ARCA Racing Series formed in 1953, will make his fourth career start at the one-mile clay oval on Sunday. The NASCAR-bound driver made his debut at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in 2007 where he started ninth and rose to third. In 2008, Sheltra rebounded from a tire failure to finish 12th after starting 11th. Last year, Sheltra qualified a track-best of fourth, remained a factor the entire race but had to settle for another third place finish driving the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger.

Multiple cost-effective marketing partnership packages are still available for the 2010 ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR seasons for Patrick Sheltra. Let Sheltra Motorsports show you how to find victory lane in more ways than one! For additional information on how to be apart of our winning organization, please contact Brandon Hinson (brandon@patricksheltra.com) or email marketing@patricksheltra.com.

Entering Springfield, Sheltra has 80 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009).

Speedway awarding the Indiantown, Florida native with the championship point’s lead for just the second time in his ARCA career.

The finish though did not come without its obstacles as during portions of the 200-lap tango on Sunday, Sheltra in the No. 60 Recycling Services-Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge felt like the silver ball in a pinball machine as the ARCA pro would overcome several close calls and even a run-in with a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series superstar to capitalize on his strongest ARCA season start of his four-year career.

The Sheltra Motorsports team led by crew chief Jon Wolfe faced adversity from the moment the team unloaded at the Northern Ohio track on Saturday during the lone practice session of the weekend. While proving that their No. 60 Dodge was consistent on long runs, the team struggled with the rotation of the car from the center off which placed the team 18th on the rundown.

After several changes, the team bolted on four new Hoosier tires and added a full tank of Sunoco Racing fuel for Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell. Sheltra was the 25th driver to tackle the half-mile short track in qualifications and laid down a lap of 16.629 seconds at 108.245 miles per hour, ironically landing the team 18th on the starting grid. Even with three-tenths of a second pickup from practice, the team was still baffled by the handling of their Chrysler nameplate.

Following time trials, the team thoroughly inspected their machine and determined that there was a potential problem with the right front spring in the Grace Sheltra owned automobile. Rather to be safe than sorry, the team opted to make an unapproved change on their race car which ultimately would force Sheltra to relinquish his original starting position and start the sixth race of the season from the rear of the 32-car starting field.

Immediately in classic Sheltra style, he began maneuvering his green and orange machine through the tough Toledo field from the moment the green flag waived. Within in the first five laps of the event, the 24-year old rising star had placed himself back where he was supposed to start and continued to climb the leader board.

Despite several early race cautions, Sheltra reported to his team that he was pleased with his car and felt like it was “pretty good” all the way around Toledo, but was waiting for a long-green flag run to ultimately inform his crew of what he truly had.

The long-green flag would never come to fruitation as the yellow flags continued to waive with Sheltra holding steady inside the top-12. Approaching lap 50, Wolfe decided to bring his driver to pit road for the first of two stops of the day.

During the pit stop, the team changed four tires and added Sunoco Racing fuel while making an air pressure adjustment with hopes of correcting a tight condition that eventually began to surface.

Back to green flag racing, Sheltra was making gains despite casual short track racing beating and banging but as clean as the team’s day was going – their cards were about to flip. After getting loose, Sheltra would be passed by nine-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel with NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran Matt Crafton closely in-toe. Trying to get-back in line behind Kimmel, the front-end of Crafton’s Ford touched the rear of Sheltra’s Dodge which sent the No. 60 into a spin-cycle in turn two. While Crafton and Sheltra emerged unscathed, Tim George Jr., A.J. Frank, Robb Brent and Craig Goess Jr., weren’t as fortunate as those drivers collided during the incident.

Damage control was quickly assessed and Sheltra returned to competition in the 15th position, the final car on the lead lap. During the second half of the event, the aspiring NASCAR driver kept his nose clean while quietly inching his way back through the running order.

Another caution inside the final 75 laps opted the opportunity to bring Sheltra down pit road for the final time for two tires and fuel. The driver returned to the track on the outskirts of the top-10.

Over the course of the final quarters of the event, Sheltra used patience and a little bit of luck to climb into the top-five before eventually falling to ninth after drivers who had fresher rubber after stopping late in the game made their way around the young-gun. However, when Justin Marks, who controlled the ARCA Racing Series point standings entering Toledo pitted with three laps to go with a flat right front tire, Sheltra moved up to the eighth position which is where he took the checkered flag.

The finish was Sheltra’s fourth top-10 finish in seven starts at the ARCA-sanctioned facility. Remarkably, it was also a stellar six consecutive top-10 finish for the Mooresville, North Carolina team. The Sheltra Motorsports team remains the only organization to finish inside the top-10 in all the ARS events run in 2010.

“Overall, not a bad day,” said Sheltra. “We had to fight for this one, that’s for sure. For some reason we struggled with the handling of our Dodge Charger all weekend. During the race we were able to get the car the best it had been all weekend but it was still a struggle. Again, our Sheltra Motorsports team proved that we will not go down without a fight – even if we don’t have the best car. We made the best of what could have been a discouraging day.”

Crafton, the pilot of the No. 88 Messina Wildlife Management / Menards Ford Fusion finished fifth but made a stop to the Sheltra Motorsports trailer following the 67th ARCA race at Toledo where the two competitors talked about the incident near the half-way mark.

“It’s all good,” sounded Sheltra. “I got loose and I tried to sneak in there behind Frank (Kimmel) and Matt (Crafton) was already there. It was just a racing deal. I hate that a couple other guys were tore up in that ordeal but I have nothing against Matt and we were able to talk and laugh about our battles against each other throughout the race. He’s a good driver and I respect him. I appreciate him coming over to talk. I look forward to racing with him again at Iowa.”

With Justin Mark’s late-race setback, Sheltra was able to inherit the ARCA Racing Series championship point’s lead by 10 markers heading into the next race at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway in two weeks. Steve Arpin who was second entering the second short track race of the season would fall out of competition on lap 140 after making contact with the turn four concrete. He slipped to third, sitting 65 points behind Sheltra.

“It’s mighty early in the season, but this is what the team has worked hard for,” sounded Sheltra. “Six top-10s in a row is pretty impressive in my mind. The team has really done their job on and off the track to put a competitive car underneath me and I cannot thank them enough. I’m looking forward to Pocono and the rest of the year.”

All About Flowers, American Concrete, Buffalo Wings & Rings, CAM 2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Ferguson Pipe Enterprises and Sheltra & Son Construction, Inc. joined Recycling Services as the team’s marketing partners in Sunday’s thriller.

Exiting Toledo, Sheltra has 73 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem (Ind.) Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 13 top-fives and posted 28 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field six times for 148 laps.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards is the first of two trips to Pocono (Pa.) Raceway for the running of the Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 200 on Saturday, June 5. Sheltra will return to the 2.5-mile triangle track looking for a duplicate performance of last year where he finessed his No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger to a stout third place run.

Superspeedway.

Sheltra, pulling double this weekend by competing in both the ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series events at the 2.66-mile superspeedway had high hopes for his fourth career start at Talladega, especially after posting a stout fifth place run in the ARCA season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

After a solid practice, Sheltra qualified his Grace Sheltra-owned machine 15th on Thursday afternoon setting up for what he knew would be an exciting ARCA Racing Series event.

From the drop of the green flag, Sheltra despite having hiccups with his radio was able to maneuver from his starting position and draft his way into the top-10 where he stayed until the caution waived on lap 17. During the yellow, crew chief Jon Wolfe brought his driver to pit road for fuel, two right side tires and a replacement radio.

Before returning to green flag conditions, the Indiantown, Florida native radioed to his crew “it’s time to go racing boys!” On the restart, Sheltra began negotiating his Buffalo Wings & Rings Racing entry though the stout ARCA field and found himself in the hunt when the “big one” unraveled on lap 50 when a multitude of machines got together with the green and orange Dodge Charger nearly avoiding the incident, but could not miss the wildly spinning No. 66 entry of Mark Thompson.

Under the lengthy yellow, Sheltra brought his machine to the attention of his crew where they diligently made the repairs to his automobile before sending him back into competition. For a while, it was thought that Sheltra’s streak of consecutive top-10 finishes in ARCA competition would be put to rest as the No. 60 had lost the lead draft and was in jeopardy of losing his lead lap status when the yellow flag waived again inside the final 20 circuits for debris.

Knowing that they were know back in the game, the Mooresville, North Carolina operation was prepared to settle and hover inside the top-10 but their 23-year old hero had other intentions. Another caution inside the final 12 laps of the event would put the best of the ARCA bunch into a 10-lap shootout with Sheltra quickly and vibrantly on the move.

Throwing his beaten and bruised No. 60 machine to the outside line of the track worked as he began catching the lead pack and continuously inched up the leader board with the laps dwindling down. With three laps remaining, Sheltra had climbed into the fifth position but he wasn’t done yet. Despite having a machine that looked like that it just completed 200 laps at the physically demanding short track of Salem (Ind.) Speedway, the ARCA pro hammered down and attached itself to the rear of the No. 22 of Dakoda Armstrong.

Coming to the white flag, Sheltra was prepared to keep the two Dodges together and hope to make a move on leaders Grant Enfinger, Steve Arpin and Tom Hessert. The opportunity came as the cars entered the backstretch on the white flag lap Sheltra gave the No. 22 of Armstrong a shove which ejected the two machines from the lead group which allowed a jumbled up field behind them to fend for themselves. Despite two spinning cars on the racetrack in turns three and four, Sheltra tried making one last attempt on his Chrysler nameplate teammate but ran out of time and crossed the start finish line second, notching his best finish of the 2010 ARCA Racing Series season.

“Man, I don’t know what to say,” sound Sheltra after the race. “We never gave up. I didn’t think we were going to have a good finish there for a while but everything came together for us near the end, we pushed Dakoda (Armstrong) to the win and brought our Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge home in second. We’re thrilled.”

When asked of his late race surge, Sheltra said, “I just went to the top and everything worked out. Jason (Jarrett, spotter) did an incredible job for me. He is really good about keeping me informed of everything that was going on. I still cannot believe that with all the damage we had, we were able to come home in second. I just can’t say enough about Jon (Wolfe, crew chief) and this Sheltra Motorsports team. I want to thank Buffalo Wings & Rings, Ferguson Pipe, CAM 2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, just everyone that makes this possible. We’re having one heck of a season.”

Indeed, Sheltra is enjoying a stellar 2010 season. In five races this season, Sheltra is the only ARCA pilot to have notched five consecutive top-10 finishes this year. Sheltra started off the year with a fifth place run at Daytona, a 10th on the wet and slippery Palm Beach (Fla.) International Raceway, a fourth at Salem (Ind.) Speedway, a seventh last Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway and posted his 13th career top-five at Talladega Friday. Previously, Sheltra’s best effort at Talladega came in 2008 where he finished fifth.

With the finish, Sheltra closes the ARCA Racing Series championship point’s gap and now sits just 30 markers from first now held by close friend Justin Marks. 10 markers separate the avid hunter from second locked by Arpin.

Earlier Friday morning, Sheltra qualified his No. 09 RAB Racing Ford Fusion 22nd for Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series Aaron’s 312. A career best qualifying effort on the Nationwide side plus the momentum of the ARCA finish gives the rising star extra momentum towards his first Nationwide start at ‘Dega. The eighth race of the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series is scheduled for Saturday, April 24 with live coverage on ABC beginning at 2:00 p.m. local. Sheltra will also compete in his first stock car event in a Ford Fusion for the Concord-based RAB Racing with Brack Maggard operation.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series is the first of two trips to Toledo (Oh.) Speedway for the running of the Menards 200 by Federated Car Care set for Sunday, May 23. Sheltra will make his seventh career start at the half-mile short track.

Exiting Talladega, Sheltra has 72 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 13 top-fives and posted 27 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field six times for 148 laps.

Did You Know: For the first time in his career, Sheltra will pilot a Ford Fusion in Saturday’s Aarons 312. During his ARCA and NASCAR tenure, Sheltra has been behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Impala, Dodge Charger and Toyota Camry.

Points Check: Following a 31st-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway, the No. 09 entry drops two positions to 23rd, 24 markers outside the top-20.

Quoting Patrick Sheltra:

You are pulling double-duty this weekend at Talladega, do you feel like the extra laps in your ARCA car will carry over to the Nationwide car this weekend? “Absolutely. Any time you can get laps in a race car it is beneficial. I think the biggest thing I will learn this weekend is drafting with some of the best drivers in the business. I am hoping I am able to learn something in practice and utilize it in the ARCA race. The Nationwide cars don’t have as much horsepower as the ARCA cars have but at a place like Talladega, the strategy changes a little bit. The goal for me this weekend though is to complete all 550 miles.”

What is the key to getting around Talladega? “Talladega is so smooth, but you need to have a car that handles well by itself and in the draft. Having a car that is drivable not to mention a good motor will allow you to move around in the draft and come from the back to the front and so forth. However, having friends may be just as important. Hopefully, I’ll have some drafting partners on Saturday that will keep our RAB Racing Ford near the front.”

Superspeedway.

Sheltra, an Indiantown, Florida native has been named as a pre-race favorite for the fifth race of the season and for good reason. In the season opener in February, Sheltra mastered a stout fifth place finish at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. Despite not walking away with a win, Sheltra reels in the success he conquered at Daytona and feels that he can improve at Talladega with his second career victory in his 72nd career ARCA start.

“The name Talladega says it all,” says Sheltra, who currently sits third in the championship standings, just 70 points from the lead. “For the past couple years, we have shown that Sheltra Motorsports has a successful superspeedway program and we look to continue that presence on Friday.”

Armed with the same No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger that the 23-year old competed with at Daytona, Sheltra knows that a car good is one of the keys to superspeedway dominance.

Patrick Sheltra

“This has been a good car for us,” sounded Sheltra. “We raced it here at Talladega last year before we had motor issues. We picked up the pieces and went to Daytona this year and were extremely fast. We feel that we’re going to be in the same position if not a little better than we were in Daytona when the race rolls around. I’m just pumped.”

He added, “Jon (Wolfe, crew chief) and the boys have been working extremely hard since the Talladega test last month to make this car even better than it was in Daytona, so their enthusiasm has me looking forward to hopefully leading the pack on Friday.”

Stepping up their associate marketing partnership role from last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, Cincinnati, Ohio based Buffalo Wings & Rings (BWR) will return as the primary marketing partner for Sheltra’s fourth career ARCA start at the 2.66-mile superspeedway.

Known for its “Great Food; No Bull!” campaign, Buffalo Wings & Rings (BWR) is the fastest-growing privately owned franchised chain of restaurants in the nation serving Buffalo-style chicken wings, onion rings, burgers, gyros, wraps and salads. And the only wing establishment in the country with a unique saucing system, customers of BWR get to choose from 45 different sauce combinations. Founded in 1984 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Buffalo Wings & Rings operates 56 franchised restaurants in the United States. Buffalo Wings & Rings was ranked the No. 1 fastest growing restaurant chain nationwide in the July 2008 issue of Restaurant Business, and ranked in the top 500 franchises in the January 2009 issue of Entrepreneur.

“Our goal is to take Buffalo Wings & Rings to victory lane on Friday at Talladega,” said Sheltra, whose best finish at Talladega is a fifth in 2008. “It’s one of their favorite tracks. BWR and their customers love the intensity, the close racing and the excitement the ARCA Racing Series brings to the track. I don’t plan to disappoint them.”

In addition to the ARCA Racing Series event on Friday, Sheltra will also make his fifth career NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut on Saturday (April 24) behind the wheel of the No. 09 Ford Fusion for RAB Racing and former ARCA car owner and driver Robby Benton. Sheltra has never competed in a NASCAR sanctioned event at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

“I’ve always had the utmost respect for Robby Benton and his organization in the NASCAR Nationwide Series,” sounded Sheltra. “I’m honored and humbled at the opportunity to drive for the team at Talladega. Our expectations are high, but there is no doubt that with a little luck we can accomplish our mission.”

Entering Talladega, Sheltra has 71 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 12 top-fives and posted 26 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field six times for 148 laps.

The Talladega ARCA 250 (94 laps / 250 miles) is the fifth of 20 events on the 2010 ARCA Racing Series schedule. The 48th ever ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Thursday, April 22 with a three hour practice session planned from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day slated to begin at 5:05 p.m. A 45-minute final practice has been etched in on Friday, April 23 from 9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. The event will take the green flag that afternoon shortly after 4:00 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional live broadcasting available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.

Speedway.

Sheltra and his Jon Wolfe-led Sheltra Motorsports team arrived in Salem with confidence that the Indiantown, Florida native could maneuver his No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger back to victory lane for his one-year inaugural ARCA anniversary win. By the conclusion of the short hour and a half practice session on Saturday afternoon, it was evident that Sheltra had a car capable of a repeat performance.

Track conditions Saturday afternoon hampered the team’s spirit as “speedy dry” from qualifying of another division at the southern Indiana track played havoc with several of the first qualifiers for the ARCA Racing Series which included the Grace Sheltra owned automobile of Sheltra. Hanging on for dear life, Sheltra was able to post two laps which lined up his No. 60 machine 15th on the starting grid.

Under ideal racing conditions Sunday afternoon, Sheltra wasted no time maneuvering through the field as by the completion of lap one, “Mr. Showtime” had already climbed into the 10th position. A few early race cautions would temporarily stall the momentum of the Sheltra Motorsports hot rod but under racing conditions, Sheltra quickly ate his competition and moved into the top-five when the first round of routine pit stops occurred approaching lap 50.

Two tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment was the call from Wolfe atop of the pit box. A stellar stop by the Sheltra Motorsports posse put the 23-year old driver back on the track in the sixth position behind several cars that elected not to make the trip to pit road.

On the restart, Sheltra quickly gobbled up his competition and found himself hunting down the leader Steve Arpin. Sheltra had set up to make the pass around the eventual race winner but the yellow flag would waive again with the defending race winner locking the second position. Sheltra though would inherit the lead when Arpin ducked down pit lane for his stop.

Sheltra would guide the ARCA Racing Series field for just the sixth time in his career for 39 laps before Joey Coulter, who had fresher tires passed the Buffalo Wings & Rings Racing machine on lap 120. From there, Sheltra stayed comfortably in the podium arena but another yellow flag yielded an opportunity for the experienced dirt late model driver to return to pit road to the attention of his Mooresville, North Carolina team for the final stop of the day for four tires and fuel.

Restarting sixth, the No. 60 machine quickly began slicing and dicing his way back through the field before landing on back bumper of the No. 81 of Craig Goess. The two cars battled it out for several laps. As Sheltra tried to make an attempt to pass the Eddie Sharp Racing driver, the bumper cover flew off of Goess’s machine and landed on the front end of Sheltra’s Dodge. Spotter Timmy McKichan advised his driver to quickly try and dispose of the debris as the temperature would begin to climb from the blockage of the grill. After several laps, Sheltra was able to dispose of the baggage which ultimately caused a caution.

On the restart, Sheltra gave Goess no mercy as was finally able to move around the No. 81 with the ARCA pro now gunning to chase down Arpin. Sheltra showed his muscle by quickly catching the No. 55 machine but another yellow would waive putting him back in the clutches of the Venturini Motorsports driver.

Back to racing, Arpin spun his tires on the restart allowing Sheltra to make his move but as the cars exited turns one and two contact was made which sheered off the right front fender of Sheltra’s car. An agitated driver wasn’t bound to give up his shout at a second-career victory. Another late race restart gave Sheltra an opportunity to make a move on Arpin but the damage from the contact made his car severely ill-handling which allowed Arpin to check out and force Sheltra to battle his third and fourth place competitors of Goess and Justin Marks. On the white flag lap both Goess and Marks made their move together underneath Sheltra on the backstretch and into turn three, Sheltra hammered the pedal upon the exit of turn three with his car immediately taking off towards the Salem concrete. Sheltra though miraculously despite gliding against the turn four wall was able to hold onto the fourth position and cross the line ahead of fifth place competitor Tom Hessert.

“We had a good car,” said Sheltra. “I guess I was getting too greedy at the end but we were definitely capable of passing Steve (Arpin). I went for the move on the restart and we hit. From there the car’s attitude changed completely and we were just trying to hold on. I am really proud and thankful of Jon (Wolfe, crew chief) and the Sheltra Motorsports team. They were fabulous all weekend and we keep heading in the right direction. I also want to thank everyone from Buffalo Wings & Rings who made the trip out to watch us race. We had a lot of support in the stands and it felt good to lead some laps and bring them home a solid finish.”

The third consecutive top-10 finish for Sheltra and his clan this season allowed them to rise one position in the ARCA Racing Series point standings to third, just 35 markers behind Marks and Arpin who are tied for the top-spot. In his four full-time seasons of ARCA competition, Sheltra has never had a better start to a season.

All About Flowers, American Concrete, CAM 2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Ferguson Pipe Enterprises, Recycling Services and Sheltra & Son Construction, Inc. joined Buffalo Wings & Rings as the team’s marketing partners in Sunday’s contest.

Exiting Salem, Sheltra has 70 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 12 top-fives and posted 25 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field six times for 148 laps.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series is a trip to Texas Motor Speedway where the sanctioning body will return to the ultra-fast 1.5-mile oval for the first time in over a decade. Sheltra Motorsports will make their season debut in a Toyota Camry for the Rattlesnake 150 which is set for Friday, April 16th live on SPEED.

Recovering from injuries that included a compressive fracture of his vertebrae and a dislocated kneecap, Sheltra showed the accident never fazed him as he qualified a then career-best of fourth, led 84 laps en-route to his first career ARCA Racing Series victory at the southern Indiana race track. Sheltra called the win a true example of a Cinderella story.

Welcome Back Buffalo Wings & Rings: Recently, Sheltra Motorsports and Buffalo Wings & Rings announced that the two would reunite for four upcoming ARCA Racing Series events beginning with Sunday’s contest at Salem Speedway. Known for its “Great Food; No Bull!” campaign, Buffalo Wings & Rings is the fastest-growing privately owned franchised chain of restaurants in the nation serving Buffalo-style chicken wings, onion rings, burgers, gyros, wraps and salads.

Salem Lowdown: For the seventh time in his ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards career, Patrick Sheltra will take the green flag at Salem Speedway. The 23-year old driver has five top-15 finishes including a win and three 11th place finishes. Sheltra’s worst finish at Salem occurred last September where he finished 16th after starting 10th. His best time trials effort came last April when he knocked out a fourth place qualifying effort. He has also controlled the field for 84 laps around the legendary oval in his six previous starts.

Patrick Sheltra ARCA Career At-A-Glance: Entering Salem, Sheltra has 69 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 11 top-fives and posted 24 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for 109 laps.

Are You In The Know?: Patrick Sheltra and Sheltra Motorsports are proud to be apart of the Facebook and Twitter cravings. If you have an account, join our club as the Sheltra Motorsports team drives towards winning the 2010 ARCA Racing Series championship.

Nice Stat: So far in 2010, Sheltra is joined by only one other driver who has scored two top-10 finishes in both races this season. With the ARCA Racing Series pro fifth place finish at Daytona, and 10th place performance at Palm Beach, Steve Arpin is the only other competitor who has also finished inside the top-10 in the two of 20 events so far this season.

Point’s Check: Two races down, 18 to go, Sheltra with the guidance of crew chief Jon Wolfe sits fourth in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings just 35 markers behind current leader Justin Marks. Just five points separate the Indiantown, Florida native from second place currently occupied by Robb Brent and Steve Arpin. Mother and car owner Grace Sheltra locks the fourth position in the ARS car owner standings, just 35 credits from the top-spot held by Kevin Cywinski (No. 32).

Autographs Anyone?: Patrick Sheltra will sign autographs for race fans on Sunday, April 11th from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. local time. Race fans will be permitted to the frontstretch of Salem Speedway where they will be able to meet the starting grid for Sunday’s race.

Looking Ahead: It will be a busy couple weeks for the ARCA Racing Series tour. Salem starts the stretch of three back-to-back events. Next Friday night, the series will compete in the Rattlesnake 150 at Texas Motor Speedway. The teams will then shift gears and prepare for their final restrictor plate race of the season at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway for the running of the Talladega ARCA 250 set for Friday, April 23. Both Texas and Talladega will be aired live on SPEED.

Vote Him Your Favorite Driver: Race fans can vote Patrick Sheltra as the 2010 ARCA Racing Series most popular driver by visiting ARCANation.com. From now until the end of the season, race fans can click on to ARCA’s official fan-related web site and vote once a day for their favorite ARCA Racing Series driver. If you’re a non-ARCA Nation member, your vote counts only once. Sign up today at ARCANation.com and vote for Patrick Sheltra!

Sheltra Motorsports, Salem Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger:

On Palm Beach International Raceway: “For never having raced in the rain before, I felt like we had a good run. The entire race was very competitive and I was really impressed with the way the field handled the wet conditions. It was probably one of the best ARCA Racing Series events I was apart of. A 10th place finish in the rain and on a road course, I’ll take it.”

On Returning To Salem Speedway: “Without a doubt, Salem is one of my favorite races on the circuit. The track is really rough but that is what makes that place so great. I have a good feeling about this weekend. The same feeling I had last year.”

On Going For Back-To-Back Victories: “I want to win again so bad, it is not even funny. Our guys have been working hard in the shop and I have been preaching to them about how cool a race at Salem really is for those who have never been there. We’re going there (Salem) with some momentum, so I’m just looking forward to seeing what Sunday brings!”

On The Return Of Buffalo Wings & Rings: “The return of Buffalo Wings & Rings as a marketing partner with Sheltra Motorsports is very important to me. It’s a great place to eat and the people with BWR are just incredible to work with. We’re going to have a huge cheering section on Sunday and that’s just the type of support we need to return to victory lane!”

On Points: “We’re sitting comfortable right now. Our goal this weekend is to escape Salem with the point’s lead. I feel like if we can keep a good head on our shoulders and race smart, we’ll be around all season long and be able to capture the championship crown in October. I know it can be a little too early to be thinking about point’s, but these races are going to fly by here soon – so we have to really look at them whether we really want to or not.”

Sheltra Motorsports, Salem Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Grace Sheltra, owner of the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger:

On Palm Beach International Raceway: “It was a lot of fun to race in our back yard with the family and friends in-toe. Patrick and the team did a fantastic job given all of the obstacles the weather gave the teams. We’re off to the best start ever in racing and I couldn’t be happier about it.”

On Salem Speedway: “There’s no describing how it felt to be in victory lane last April. It was one of those experiences that you will never forget. I love short track racing but Salem has become one of my favorite race tracks not just because of the win. The weather should be great which should yield a good show for everyone on Sunday.”

On The Early Season Success: “We’re very happy with the direction of the team right now. We made a big move in the off-season to North Carolina. The team has really gelled well together and it’s showing on the track. I’m looking forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings.”

Speedway this weekend ready to do more than just defend his Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 presented by Appliancezone.com title. The Indiantown, Florida native wants to leave the bullring short track with the point’s lead.

Should the 23-year old driver master his tasks, he’ll move onto his next goal which will consist of capturing the trio of three victories in the April ARCA stretch which consist of Salem (Ind.) Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and the breathtaking Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. The proposal is no easy task but Sheltra has acquired a new taste of determination and “want” thanks to the surrounding of his Sheltra Motorsports team.

“Not only am I looking forward to Salem this weekend, but I’m eager for Texas and Talladega too,” said Sheltra, who sits fourth in the championship standings entering the third race of the 2010 season, just 35 points from the lead. “Salem is one of my favorite races on the schedule and I know that we have a good car for this weekend, so I’m more than ready to get back after it.”

And if the fame of returning as the defending champion isn’t enough, Sunday’s race will mark the return of Cincinnati, Ohio based Buffalo Wings & Rings (BWR) on-board as the team’s primary marketing partner for Sheltra’s seventh ARCA start at the historic southern Indiana short track. Last April, Sheltra Motorsports took BWR to victory lane in their first taste of stock car racing at Salem Speedway.

Known for its “Great Food; No Bull!” campaign, Buffalo Wings & Rings is the fastest-growing privately owned franchised chain of restaurants in the nation serving Buffalo-style chicken wings, onion rings, burgers, gyros, wraps and salads.
“I am stoked to have Buffalo Wings & Rings back on-board this weekend,” sounded Sheltra. They are a great company with awesome employees and the food is delicious! We’re going to have tons of guests from the surrounding Buffalo Wings & Rings Indiana stores plus some contest winners in the stands for the race and I would like nothing more to take them to victory lane on Sunday!”

All About Flowers, American Concrete, CAM 2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Ferguson Pipe Enterprises, Recycling Services and Sheltra & Son Construction, Inc. join Buffalo Wings & Rings as the team’s marketing partners in Sunday’s contest.

Entering Salem, Sheltra has 69 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 11 top-fives and posted 24 top-10 finishes. Superspeedway for the upcoming NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event the weekend of April 23, 2010.

Sheltra, who played a small role in the film starring Grammy award winning music artist LeAnn Rimes will throw a bonus into the grand prize by inviting the winner and their guest to attend the Talladega ARCA 250 event on Friday, April 23 as an official guest of the Sheltra Motorsports team.

The winner and their guest will receive two pit passes and allow them to experience the ARCA Racing Series garage first hand before joining the Mooresville, North Carolina based team on the sidelines for the fifth race of the 2010 season.

“We’ve been waiting for this movie to come out for a long time now,” said Sheltra. “It’s exciting to know that we had a small role in it. Our Sheltra Motorsports dirt car is even shown in a scene. The opportunity to promote the movie further and allow the winners of the contest to hang out with us for the ARCA race at Talladega is pretty exciting if you ask me. The exposure from the movie helps us out a little bit too, so it’s a win-win situation.”

Sheltra, the Indiantown, Florida native returns to a superspeedway on the heels of a stunning fifth-place performance in the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February where the 23-year old pro battled side-by-side with IZOD IndyCar Series star Danica Patrick before beating the No. 7 Godaddy.com Chevrolet Impala to the line in her first stock car race.

“Talladega is so much fun to race at compared to Daytona. Talladega is so smooth that you don’t have to worry about bouncing around every couple seconds. The smoothness of the track allows the competition to be hot and heavy and that’s why the ARCA Racing Series puts on a good show there. We are excited to have Buffalo Wings & Rings back on board for the race, so hopefully we can take them and our guests to victory lane.”

Sheltra has 69 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 11 top-fives and posted 24 top-10 finishes. Speedway on Sunday, April 11.

The reunion takes shape perfectly as driver Patrick Sheltra, the 23-year old ARCA pro returns to the half-mile bullring next month as the defending champion of the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 presented by ApplianceZone.com. Buffalo Wings & Rings (BWR) debuted as a marketing partner with Sheltra Motorsports last April at Salem and watched Sheltra soar to his first career victory just two months after recovering from a near-career ending incident in the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway.

Known for its “Great Food; No Bull!” campaign, Buffalo Wings & Rings is the fastest-growing privately owned franchised chain of restaurants in the nation serving Buffalo-style chicken wings, onion rings, burgers, gyros, wraps and salads.

In addition to holding the title marketing partnership rights for Salem Speedway, Buffalo Wings & Rings will hold the same spotlight for the Talladega ARCA 250 at Talladega (Ala.) Speedway on April 23 while serving as a associate marketing partner for Texas Motor Speedway (April 16) and Toledo (Ohio) Speedway (May 23). Following the four events, representatives from both sides are hopeful for a continuing relationship that covers the team’s No. 60 entries until the season-ending event at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway in October.

Patrick Sheltra

“I’m excited to be back driving the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge,” said Sheltra, who will enter the Salem event fourth in points after two-consecutive top-10 finishes thus far in 2010. “We valued and cherished the relationship we had with them last year and we are just thankful to put something together for these four races and hopefully beyond. The car will look a little different from last year, so hopefully they will be happy with the surprise we have for them.”

“We are happy to make this announcement with Sheltra Motorsports and Patrick,” commented Charlie Francus, Marketing Manager for Buffalo Wings & Rings. “The team exceeds in the core values we expect in a partnership. Our customers have become huge supporters of Patrick (Sheltra) and the ARCA Racing Series and we look forward to continuing to build on that relationship in 2010.”

Sheltra added, “I don’t think there is a better place to reunite this partnership other than Salem Speedway. Last year’s race was unforgettable. We had a good car, the team did everything right and we were able to celebrate with a new marketing partner in victory lane. It truly was the perfect Cinderella story.

The place (Salem) gives me goose bumps every time I go back. I’ve always ran well there. We’ve never finished lower than 16th in six starts there, so I think that’s a modest record. I know that the team is capable of making it back-to-back victories in a couple weeks.”

Sheltra has 69 ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 11 top-fives and posted 24 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for 109 laps.

INDIANTOWN, Florida (December 10, 2009) – - The question has been answered. After months of speculation, IZOD IndyCar Series star Danica Patrick announced this week her plans to run a limited stock-car schedule with the primary focus being on the NASCAR Nationwide Series for 2010 and 2011 with JR Motorsports (JRM).

However, before Patrick enters the NASCAR Nationwide Series, she’ll first tackle the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards which is often referred as the stepping-stone to NASCAR.

Patrick will join veteran ARCA driver Patrick Sheltra, his Sheltra Motorsports team and not to mention a healthy and impressive plethora of other drivers and teams expected to partake in the three-day open test session at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway beginning on Friday December 18 and concluding on Sunday December 20, preparing for next year’s season opener.

Sheltra, who just concluded his three consecutive season of ARCA competition commented on the recent announcement while also giving his opinion on his expectations for Patrick for the test and next season’s Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona set for Saturday, February 6, 2010.

Sheltra’s statement will also be featured in an expected upcoming commentary article on ARCARacing.com.

Patrick Sheltra

PATRICK SHELTRA, No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger: “I’m excited to have Danica Patrick be a part of the ARCA Racing Series whether if it’s for one race, five races or a full-season. I know she is going to bring a lot of publicity to the series and that in-turn should bring publicity to the other drivers competing on the tour. Obviously, she has a lot on her plate and everyone has high expectations for her but I’m going to do anything I can to help her (if she wants it). The move from me from dirt to stock cars was massive and I’m sure the transition from IndyCar to stock-cars won’t be a piece of cake either.

For any driver making their debut at Daytona will be no easy task. I know she is used to speed but there is a big difference between the two series. I don’t know if she will fully understand the draft in a stock-car compared to an IndyCar. I will be watching her and her team very closely at the test next weekend. She really needs to with the help of JR Motorsports get a good feel for the car. She may not be my first choice to draft with for the race in February but when push-comes to shove, she will have a good car and as a team we’re going to have to look at her as a possible drafting partner. I just hope she understands how the draft works and how to use it appropriately when it’s go time. I think if she can go out there for the test and the race and learn, talk to the some of the experienced ARCA drivers and don’t do anything over her head, she’ll have a successful stockcar debut.

Finally, I’ve been listening, reading and hearing about all the controversy about Danica Patrick making the move to ARCA and NASCAR. Here’s my two cents. She is not afraid. She is coming here with an open-mind and if she makes it, she won’t be the first or the last to make the transition successfully. If she doesn’t make it, she at least tried and again, she won’t be the first nor the last to make a jump from another form of Motorsports and not succeed. Nonetheless, I wish her all the best.”

From the Kansas Lottery 150 it will be onto the task of making his fourth career NASCAR Nationwide Series start a successful one for MacDonald Motorsports in Saturday’s Kansas Lottery 300.

But before the Indiantown, Florida native can draw all of his attention towards the second-tier NASCAR series; he is focused on his primary job behind the wheel of the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings-MC2 Energy Drink Dodge Charger.

The final mile-and-a-half track of the season was particularly kind to the 23-year old phenom in 2008 and he’s hoping for a similar performance on Thursday afternoon. Last April, Sheltra Motorsports debuted their Dodge Charger program by qualifying a speedway best of eighth before thrusting their Grace Sheltra owned machine into the lead before settling for eighth. This year with success on the cookie-cutter type track, Sheltra is aiming high and gunning for his fifth top-five run of the year.

“I’m a fan of the mile-and-a-half tracks,” Sheltra said. “We’ve run okay on them this year but we’re plenty capable of finishing inside the top-five. We’re bringing the same car we finished ninth with at Chicagoland and we’ve even made some more changes to the body to make it even better, so I’m ready for a good race.”

The team elected not to participate in the open-test at the 1.5-mile speed plant but Sheltra isn’t concerned about that fact. Instead, he’s driven on notching his ninth top-10 run of the year in his third Kansas ARCA start.

“I feel like we’ve improved a little on our intermediate program from 2008,” continued Sheltra. “This year, we’ve finished in the top-10 in all three mile-and-a-half tracks so we’re aiming towards our fourth straight top-10. I feel like if we can keep our car in clean air and adjust on it during the race; we’ll be in good shape.”

MC2 Energy Drink, who’s enjoyed a wealth of success with their products has leaped aboard the Sheltra Motorsports train for this weekend’s activities with Sheltra ready to deliver.

Patrick Sheltra

“We’re looking forward to carrying the MC2 logo this weekend,” sounded Sheltra. “We’ve been talking to Ron (Serota, President) for almost a year now and we’re just proud that we could finally make them a part of our organization.”

Sitting 105 markers out of the fifth position in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship chase, Sheltra is determined to propel his third year team into the top-five when the checkered flag waives at Rockingham Speedway next weekend.

“While our goal all year was to be in the hunt for the championship, I would be happy with finishing in the top-five. My guys have worked hard despite some bad luck but we’re ready to the end the year on a high note with two good runs and a fifth place finish in the championship race,” Sheltra concluded.

Crew Chief John Hayden has elected to use Sheltra Motorsports Chassis No. 13 this weekend at Kansas Speedway. This is the same piece the team raced to a sixth and ninth place finish at Kentucky Speedway and a ninth place at Chicagoland Speedway this year. This car has also had track time at Michigan International Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway and Chicagoland Speedway last season. The former Penske Racing ride has five top-10 finishes including a best of sixth at Michigan (2008) and Kentucky (2009) in six starts. It will be run for just the seventh time in Sheltra’s career. Chassis number 16 will serve as the team’s back-up automobile. That former Richard Childress Racing entry is a new addition to the team’s fleet. The Whitesville, Kentucky based team tested this Dodge Charger at Michigan International Speedway in May. It has yet to see any ARCA race competition.

Entering Kansas, Sheltra has 65 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated 10 top-fives and posted 22 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for 109 laps.

The Kansas Lottery 150 (100 laps/150 miles) is the 20th of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The ninth ARCA race held at Kansas is a one-day show. Practice begins Thursday, October 1 with a two hour practice session planned from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m. The event will take the green flag shortly after 4:00 p.m. The race will be broadcasted live on SPEED and through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.

Armed with the same Dodge Charger that Sheltra catapulted to his first career ARCA victory in April, the Sheltra Motorsports had high hopes entering the 19th race of the season.

In practice, Sheltra quickly put his Grace Sheltra owned machine in the top-10. Teetering between sixth and 10th for much of the session, the team led by veteran crew chief and former ARCA driver John Hayden tackled with shock, carburetors and minor chassis adjustments. When the cross flags were thrown in the hour and a half session, Sheltra landed 10th overall.

“The car is real good,” said the 23-year old phenom. “I know the guys are real excited to be here and believe me I am too. We worked on making our Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger better.”

In qualifying, Sheltra mounted a lap of 17.588 seconds at 113.600 miles per hour. The run placed the Sheltra Motorsports team ironically 10th on the starting grid.

“It was decent,” said Sheltra, who picked up a little over three-tenths of a second from his fastest practice lap. “I strongly believe that the car is good in race trim and that’s when it counts the most.”

At the start of the Fall classic, Sheltra immediately bolted solidly into the top-10 and had moved into the eighth position by lap five and picked up an additional spot a few laps later to settle in seventh.

Chasing down the fifth and sixth place cars, Sheltra was biding his time but as he caught his competition the two cars ahead got together and with little reaction time for Sheltra – he made contact with the No. 81; the altercation caused some damage to the fender of Sheltra’s Buffalo Wings & Rings Racing machine.

A caution flew a few laps later with Sheltra reporting normal car conditions and he was just “riding.” Little was said about the incident with his colleagues.

On the restart, Sheltra went backwards in a hurry. Flabbergasted about the direction of the car, Sheltra radioed his team that something was “bad wrong”. During the time, Sheltra lost a lap to the leaders but managed to stay from going two laps down when a yellow flag waived with the leader directly behind Sheltra.

Hayden called his driver to pit road after Sheltra reported a possible broken shock. Sheltra brought his machine to the attention of his team where they diagnosed the problem to be with an actual tire and toe-in problem and nothing to do with shocks. Four tires, damage control and a splash of gas later, Sheltra was good to go.

Back to racing, Sheltra put on a show and tried to retain his lost lap back but as he made the charge through the field, Sheltra found himself in a gutsy three-wide battle with the car in the middle drifting up into Sheltra with the No. 60 making solid impact with the turn four wall.

Sheltra regained control of his machine but the damage was enough to diminish the momentum and ultimately saw Sheltra go into the wall several laps later thanks to a cut tire.

Upon further review of the damage, the Sheltra Motorsports crew determined that the lower right control arm was bent in the contact and instead of taking the chance of destroying the car even further, the team efficiently made the repairs to the control arm and toe under green flag conditions. Sheltra would return to the track several laps later and take advantage of an attrition filled race to climb back up from 23rd to claim 16th.

Patrick Sheltra

“I was really hoping for a sweep but given all the circumstances we’ll take a 16th and move on to the final two races,” said Sheltra. “I did everything I could to avoid the cars in-front of me early in the race but everything happens so quick at Salem, I just couldn’t stop in time. I didn’t think that would hurt us too bad. The car was still acting fine until the tire really started to disaggregate.”

He added, “The guys did a great job repairing our Buffalo Wings & Rings car and then we got shoved into the wall and then our night was never the same. We needed to finish the race to keep us in the hunt for finishing fifth in the championship chase and despite a not so good run that finish is still within reach. We’ll move on from here and head to Kansas.”

Sheltra slipped back to eighth in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point’s standings with just two races remaining. A mere 105 points keeps the veteran ARCA driver from the fifth position controlled by Craig Goess Jr.

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is their final intermediate track of the season from Kansas Speedway. The Kansas Lottery 150 is set for Thursday, October 1. Last year at the 1.5-mile speed plant, Sheltra Motorsports debuted their Dodge program in fashion with Sheltra qualifying a speedway-best of eighth and leading his first ever ARCA RE/MAX Series laps before capturing his second top-10 finish of the 2008 season.
