Racing drivers and benefits Patrick Dempsey Foundation and Seattle Children’s Hospital

The $40 package—saluting the Dempsey Racing No. 40 and No. 41 Mazda RX-8 GT entries—is available now by calling (866) 409-RACE or by visiting THEChampionshipTrack.com. The package includes:
Dempsey Racing heads to the March 6 “Grand Prix of Miami” on the heels of a sixth-place finish in the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Dempsey Racing team, anchored by Patrick Dempsey and Joe Foster, sits just 10 points back of first place in Grand-Am’s GT Championship standings.
“Dempsey Racing enjoys coming to Miami each year, and we look forward to another competitive run,” said team-principal Dempsey. “I really enjoy the track, and we are glad as a team to support not just the Dempsey Center but also the Seattle Children’s Hospital with this unique ticket package for Miami fans.”
“He’s known world-wide for his on-screen achievements, but Patrick Dempsey has shown the racing world that he can drive,” said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Matthew Becherer. “And now he and Joe are using that platform to make an impact on two deserving charitable causes. We’re thrilled to host Dempsey Racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 6 in an effort so noble.”
The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer, Hope & Healing aims to provide the highest quality of education, support and wellness services to enhance the quality of life of individuals, families and communities touched by cancer. Dempsey’s mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1997 and successfully treated, but the disease returned twice. She underwent a second and third treatment, and today enjoys a healthy life.
“It’s no secret that cancer has touched my family,” said Dempsey, who funds the center alongside donor contributions. “I found out how important it is to have access to good, reliable resources to help the patient, family members and caretakers. After this experience, I knew I wanted to make a difference, to give back to the community that helped my family through its journey.”
“Behind the wheel, Patrick has come a long ways from his tractor days,” said Homestead-Miami President Becherer, referencing Dempsey’s role as the lovelorn teen in his 1987 film “Can’t Buy Me Love.”
“To see the success he’s having with Dempsey Racing is worth the admission at Homestead-Miami March 6. To aid the Dempsey Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital, well, that’s a bit more difficult to tag with a price.”
