SAN BERNARDINO county, Calif. (April 13, 2010) – Auto Club Speedway Director of Emergency Medical Services Sandy Carnes R.N. was recently honored with the “Women of Distinction” award by California Assembly Member Bill Emmerson of the 63rd District.

In honor of Women’s History Month, Assemblyman Emmerson recognized 63 extraordinary women from San Bernardino and Riverside Counties for their invaluable service to the Inland Empire.

“It’s always a privilege to pay tribute to these remarkable women as they do so much to strengthen our communities,” Assemblyman Emmerson stated. “I applaud their tireless efforts to improve the lives of so many in the Inland Empire.”

Additional accolades for Carnes include NASCAR recently honoring her with the 2009 Nursing Director Award for her excellence in leadership, organizational skills and dedication as Director of Emergency Medical Services at Auto Club Speedway’s Infield Care Center during the February West Coast Premiere of NASCAR and the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup playoff weekend at Auto Club Speedway in October.

As Auto Club Speedway’s Director of EMS, Carnes has tended to the medical needs of race fans since the Speedway opened in 1997 and comes with over 25+ years of experience as a registered nurse.  Carnes also works fulltime with the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department as EMS Administrator.
