Corr, in his rookie season on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards tour, was determined to conquer the .875-mile oval in his first foray and come out on top with a top-ten finish. Piloting the No. 82 Roush Yates Engines, LIVE United Ford Fusion, Corr did just that, finishing ninth in Saturday’s (7/16/11) Prairie Meadows 200.

On track racing activity started early, as the ARCA Racing Series held two practice sessions on Friday, which Corr used solely to figure out the track and preferred line. Corr posted the 19th fastest time in first practice, at 25.283 seconds at 124.590 MPH. The Empire Racing crew, led by John Bellesfield, worked on several adjustments during the break, which would allow Corr to grasp a better handling of the track. He would post the 17th fastest time in final practice, at 24.670 seconds at 127.685 MPH. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell followed Saturday morning, where extreme temperatures would cause Corr to pilot a tight race car, relegating him to a 23rd starting position at 24.643 seconds at 127.825 MPH.

With the Prairie Meadows 200 field locked in and the green flag waving, Corr immediately set sight of his original goal and began working his way meticulously through traffic. During the day’s second caution on lap 51, Shaver brought Corr to pit road for four tires, fuel and a tire pressure adjustment to aid in the tight handling car. He would rejoin the field in the 11th position one lap down, until earning the ‘Lucky Dog’ award when the caution waved on lap 61. Corr, working through lapped traffic, radioed on lap 78 that he was “free off the corners.” Shaver would use the lap 90 ‘quickie’ caution period to bring Corr back down pit road for fuel and a wedge adjustment, and shortly thereafter on lap 111 for four tires.

Corr, record high temperatures and a slick racetrack, kept his cool, slowly maneuvering through traffic, keeping his eyes set on the elusive top-ten finish. After a close encounter with a lapped down car, the crew brought Corr back down pit road on lap 160, one final time, to fix the right front fender damage sustained in the run-in. As the field resumed green flag racing, the Goshen, NY native saw his first top-ten ARCA Racing Series finish in-sight and began an intense battle for track position. Corr, having learned the preferred line, spent the final ten laps side-by-side for position, until ultimately clearing the car with his No. 82 Roush Yates Engines, LIVE United Ford Fusion, en route to a ninth place finish in the Prairie Meadows 200.

Sean Corr

“It’s really a great feeling to be able to go into a brand new racetrack with a goal in mind, and come out on top at the end of the race,” commented Corr.

“My Empire Racing guys have been working so hard to provide me with the best car week in and week out, and this week was no different. Being able to come from 23rd and finish ninth is a true testament to the cars they provide.”

Empire Racing and Sean Corr return to racing action in two weeks at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, IN. Sean Corr will be piloting his No. 82 Roush Yates Engines, LIVE United Ford Fusion. The Ansell Protective Gloves 200 will air LIVE on SPEED at 7:00 pm ET Thursday, July 28, 2011.

Lofton, piloting the No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet Impala SS, saw a weekend of firsts, as he made his first ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start at “America’s Place to Race,” and his first start with Coulter Motorsports as part of their Driver Development Program.

Roxboro, NC native Lofton entered the weekend’s festivities with a new team, and high expectations. Initial goals were immediately met, as Lofton spent time on top of the practice charts in both sessions on Thursday (7/15/11). Working closely with 2010 ARCA championship winning crew chief Jon Wolfe, Lofton finished the first practice session eighth with a fast time of 24.723 seconds at 127.412 MPH. In final practice, the duo focused solely on long race runs, as well as the ever-important mock qualifying run. Lofton would round out final practice in fifth, posting a fast time of 23.995 seconds at 131.277 MPH.

Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell, kicked off the hot and humid race day activities at Iowa on Saturday. Lofton, getting a late draw in the session, knew he would have to fight an extremely slick track. The concerns didn’t stop the 26-year-old racer, as he qualified fifth, with a fast time of23.805 seconds at 132.325 MPH.

ARCA Racing Series officials waved the green flag over the 39-car field to start the Prairie Meadows 200, late Saturday afternoon, and Lofton immediately went to work, tackling the greasy track conditions due to the extreme heat. Radioing to Wolfe on lap 22, Lofton said the car was “real free through the turns; the track is super slick.”

Without warning, on lap 49 as Lofton exited turn four, his right front tire blew, sending his No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet Impala SS into the outside retaining wall, while running seventh. His Coulter Motorsports crew immediately went to work, assessing the problem and fixing the heavy right side damage. Displaying their “never give up” attitude and led by Lofton’s urge to get back on track, the team fixed the tattered car and sent him back out on lap 80 in 31st, numerous laps down. Wolfe, erring on the side of caution, brought Lofton down pit road during the ensuing yellow flags, to check the car and to add aid in the handling with wedge and tow adjustments. He would continue to battle the ever-slickening track conditions and record high heat index (126), before being forced to the garage early, as EMT’s believed Lofton was suffering from severe carbon monoxide poisoning.

Lofton was treated at the infield care center for excessive levels of CO, before being released back to the Coulter Motorsports crew at the conclusion of the Prairie Meadows 200. He would finish the day 24th in his No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet Impala SS, 79 laps down.

“Today was a really unfortunate day for myself and all of Coulter Motorsports,” commented Lofton. “We had such a fast racecar all weekend long, and if we didn’t have that tire blow up, I know we would have had a great finish. I want to thank everyone at Coulter Motorsports for working so hard this weekend, and especially Strutmasters.com for sponsoring us at Iowa. I look forward to what the future holds and hope to be back racing soon.”

Coulter Motorsports returns to racing action in two weeks at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Clermont, IN. Joey Coulter will be piloting the infamous No. 16 with Rip It Energy Fuel on board for their fourth of five races this season. The Ansell Protective Gloves 200 will air LIVE on SPEED at 7:00 pm ET Thursday, July 28, 2011.

Though, if he wasn’t able to soar his No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Impala to victory lane, the Cherry Hill, New Jersey native was hoping he could leave the track knowing he gave all he could.

That testament couldn’t be farther than the truth.

Hessert driving for NASCAR legend Ken Schrader didn’t capture his second career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards victory, but the 25-year old did however battle from an ill-handling race car to produce a gratifying top-10 finish.

Before the teams could shift their focus to the race, they had to endure two practice sessions and qualifying. On Friday afternoon, Hessert produced the 12th fastest time. Complaining of a tight condition on his No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Impala, crew chief John Monsam made several changes to the bowtie heading into the final practice session hoping to improve Hessert’s comfort. In happy hour, Hessert picked up the pace and delivered the eighth quickest lap, giving the team a sense that they were heading in the right direction.

Under extremely humid conditions, qualifying shot off on-time Saturday afternoon with Hessert posting a lap of 24.117 seconds at 130.613 miles per hour, just a tick faster than practice the day prior. Content with starting ninth in the Prairie Meadows 200, Hessert was finally able to turn his entire attention towards the race.

With a heat index topping out at 124 degrees outside the car and a sweltering 150 degrees plus inside the car, the stars and cars of the ARCA Racing Series took the green flag shortly after 4:00 p.m. Hessert’s attempt to gain position on the track would be stalled when the No. 63 spun in turn three on lap one.

When racing resumed, Hessert maintained his footing inside the top-10. Something that the former USARacing Pro Cup Series star wasn’t expecting was the handling of his No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Impala to do a complete 360 as his automobile went from battling a tight condition all weekend to now an evil loose condition.

Having to thread the needle with traffic and himself on the track, Hessert wouldn’t be able to enter pit road until lap 52 when the first series of pit stops occurred. Massive chassis changes in addition to four tires and fuel were on deck for the avid road racing ace.

Returning to the track in the eighth position racing resumed with Hessert trying to maneuver his way to the front.

Through the halfway point of the 200-lap race Hessert knew that his car was beginning to come around but he also would have to battle with the lead pack, not for the lead but in order to stay on the lead lap.

The second round of pit stops ensued on lap 112 with Hessert relinquishing his seventh place position in order for fresh rubber and fuel.

Hessert found himself battling back inside the top-10, restarting ninth and fighting for every spot and every point. Knowing that he didn’t have a race-contending car this weekend, the ARCA veteran was determined to still bring his KSR team a solid finish.

Throughout the final 50 laps of the event, Hessert’s car continued to change towards the better which resulted in quicker lap times and the opportunity for the No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Impala to climb in the running order.

In the closing laps, Hessert was able to pull away from ninth place finisher Sean Corr and tried to grab seventh from USAR star Clay Rogers but Hessert ran out of laps and took the checkered flag in the eighth position, racking up his eighth top-10 finish of the season.

“It was definitely hot out there and I’m not sure if that didn’t play havoc with our setup,” Hessert offered. “We worked on the No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Impala all race long and we were finally able to get it content where we could race hard with others and not worry about spinning out or anything like that. While, I’m disappointed that we weren’t able to defend our win, there’s still plenty of racing left in 2011 and I know that we’ll be able to find ourselves in the hunt.”

When asked about the scorching temperatures inside the race car, Hessert added, “It really was a mental game as far as conquering the heat. I had to tell myself that despite the discomfort that I could do this and I needed to do it for everyone at Federated Auto Parts, Cherry Hill Classic Cars and KSR. It wasn’t easy, but we made it through. Hopefully we won’t have to embrace anything like those conditions again this season.”

With his finish on Saturday afternoon, Hessert climbed to seventh in the championship standings sitting now just 100 markers behind sixth place competitor Chad McCumbee.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is a welcomed trip back to Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, formally known as O’Reilly Raceway Park (ORP) for the running of the Ansell Protective Gloves 200 set for Thursday, July 28th. The iconic short track event will be aired live on SPEED beginning at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. Hessert will make his inaugural ARCA debut at the Clermont, Indiana-based track but has plenty of experience there in the USAC division.

In addition to Federated Auto Parts, Cherry Hill Classic Cars served as an associate marketing partner for Hessert’s 75th career ARCA start. In those 75 outings, he has maneuvered one win, 14 top-fives and 38 top-10s.

With finishes like the Springfield, Illinois team has dished out this season, Enfinger knows that his first career victory is on the horizon, even though he came up short in the 11th race of the season.

Crew chief Kelly Kovski elected to bring a brand new No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger to the .875-mile paved oval. Shaking down the same machine earlier in the week at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, the veteran ARCA team headed west to embrace ARCA’s yearly stop at the Rusty Wallace-designed facility.

Finishing in the top-five last year at Iowa Speedway gave Enfinger a boost knowing that he knew the particulars of the race track and with a good setup and luck, a strong finish could easily be obtainable.

The team admitted that they struggled finding the ideal setup on their No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger during the two practice sessions on Friday afternoon. After claiming the 13th and 19th fastest laps respectively, Enfinger consulted with his crew where they made some aggressive changes hoping that they would pay off during the race.

In qualifying on Saturday afternoon, Enfinger posted a lap of 24.517 seconds at 128.48 miles per hour lining the 2008 ARCA championship team 20th on the starting grid. Not necessarily worried about where they started, the team knew they just needed to avoid any potential carnage ahead of them that could potentially stall their climb.

With a heat index topping out at 124 degrees outside the car and a sweltering 150 degrees plus inside the car, the stars and cars of the ARCA Racing Series took the green flag shortly after 4:00 p.m. Enfinger gained six positions only to be stalled when the No. 63 spun in turn three on lap one.

Racing resumed on lap six with Enfinger locking the 16th position. The field would stretch into a long-green flag run that saw Enfinger move into the 12th spot by lap 20 and then passed Tom Hessert on lap 38 for 11th.

Inching forward, Enfinger in the No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger set his sights on entering the top-10 when the yellow flag waived again on lap 50.

During the caution, Kovski elected to bring his driver down pit road for tires and fuel. Returning to the track in the sixth position, Enfinger climbed into the top-five by lap 64.

Lap 68 found Enfinger himself having to fight to stay in the top-five with charges from behind from Chris Buescher and Chad Hackenbracht. Buescher and Hackenbracht were able to make their away around Enfinger moving the No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger into the sixth spot where he stayed until the caution flag waived on lap 90.

Electing to stay out when pit road opened, Enfinger reassumed the Prairie Meadows 200 in fifth place when racing resumed on lap 98.

14 laps later though, Enfinger would slid back to sixth make his final trip to pit road for tires and fuel after the yellow flag was flown two laps earlier for an incident involving the No. 7. A strong pit stop by the Allgaier Motorsports team sent their back into battle claiming the sixth position.

Racing resumed on lap 114 with Enfinger showing patience as he prepared to make his trek back to the front. By lap 130, the avid late model competitor lifted himself to fourth.

Inside 50 laps remaining, Enfinger maintained a position inside the top-five and found himself in a torrid battle with Tim George Jr. for the fourth position inside the final 35 markers of the race. He was able to get around the Richard Childress Racing driver with six laps remaining. While George Jr. attempted to retake the position he lost, Enfinger would fend off the challenges and take the checkered flag behind race winner Ty Dillon, Cale Gale and Chris Buescher.

Grant Enfinger

The Fairhope, Alabama native netted his fourth top-five of the season and ninth top-10 of the year after just 11 races.

“We struggled with the handling of our No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger through the bumps around Iowa Speedway,” offered Enfinger. “We never gave up though. Change after change, the car kept getting better and it showed with our performance on the race track. I know a win is in our future, we just need all the cards to play out for us. I appreciate the hard work of the Allgaier Motorsports team this weekend, especially during the race in the incredible heat. I’m going to get these guys a win soon and we’ll have something to really talk about then.”

Raceway, Win-Tron Racing and driver Matt Merrell truly experienced the highs and lows of racing after suffering misfortune in the Prairie Meadows 200 at Iowa Speedway.

Armed with the same piece that took them to victory in the 10th installment of the season, the Lakeville, Minnesota-based team felt confident heading into the first of two practice sessions Friday afternoon.

During the first session, Merrell in his No. 32 Champion Hi-Tech Lubricants Dodge Charger produced the 16th fastest time after complaining of a tight condition on his automobile. Changes made by crew chief Mike Chaffee for the final practice session had the team ready to make a climb. In happy hour, the Portland, Texas native climbed to 12th fastest overall but the former USARacing Pro Cup Series star was still complaining of a tight condition.

Baffled by the car’s handling, Chaffee, car chief Mike Resop and Merrell went back to the drawing board Friday night and Saturday morning opting to go with a completely different setup for qualifying.

In time trials, Merrell whistled his No. 32 Champion Hi-Tech Lubricants Dodge Charger around the .875-mile paved oval to a time of 24.297 seconds at 129.646 miles per hour, the team’s fastest lap of the weekend awarding the veteran organization with a solid 13th place starting position.

Amidst scorching temperatures and humid air, the Prairie Meadows 200 took the green flag shortly after 4:00 p.m. local time. The field would be slowed before the completion of lap one when Milka Duno spun in turn three. During that first lap though, Merrell had climbed into the 12th position where he restarted the race on lap six.

With the field setting into their first span of consecutive green flag racing laps, Merrell found himself sliding back through the field as laps clicked away with the 26-year old once again informing his team that his No. 32 Champion Hi-Tech Lubricants Dodge Charger was tight.

Continuing a green flag run, Merrell would find himself lose a lap to the leaders 30 circuits into the event. Maintaining his position inside the top-20, Merrell would have the opportunity to bring his No. 32 Champion Hi-Tech Lubricants Dodge Charger to pit road when the second yellow flag waived when two cars appeared to have blown their right front tire.

Chaffee brought his driver to pit road where four tires, fuel and a major chassis adjustment were in order to help Merrell combat his handling issues.

Ready to resume racing, Merrell had barely begun to climb to full song before a ball joint failure sent the most recent winner in ARCA competition hard into the outside wall.

Matt Merrell

Able to limp his machine back to pit road, the Win-Tron Racing crew quickly reviewed the damage before deciding to take their No. 32 Champion Hi-Tech Lubricants Dodge Charger behind the pit wall. The damage was deemed to severe forcing them to withdraw from competition and suffer a disappointing 29th place finish.

“It’s very frustrating to go from celebrating a win to having a race like we did in Iowa,” offered Merrell. “It’s just been our luck lately. We’ll have a good week and then something out of the ordinary will happen and bite us hard. I hate it for Win-Tron and Champion, we were looking forward to having a good weekend.”

Car owner Nate Thiesse offered his thoughts on this weekend’s race. “We are all shaking our heads wondering why. We made some strides throughout the weekend but ultimately ran into more bad luck. We’ll dissect this car very thoroughly and try to see what exactly happened.”

With the mishap, Merrell slid to eighth in the championship standings and sits just 10 points from retaking seventh from fellow competitor Tom Hessert III.

Eastern.

Merrell made his 24th career start in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards at Iowa Speedway this weekend. In those 24 outings, Merrell has one win (Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, July 2011), nine top-fives and 12 top-10s. His best start position for Win-Tron Racing occurred at the tricky triangle of Pocono (Pa.) Raceway where he qualified his No. 32 CollinsHope.org Dodge Charger second in June of 2009.

Kimmel returned to Iowa Raceway with the rest of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards in hopes of becoming the first two-time winner at the track. The Ansell-Menards Ford qualified 8th and raced hard throughout the 200 lap event.

The temperature was a factor throughout the race. It was sweltering hot from the drop of the green flag. At one point the heat index reached as high as 120 degrees. Despite the heat, Frank Kimmel soldiered on.

“Boy, it was a hot one today. We finished really well, despite a few hiccups. We started out loose and got to work on it. It seemed like every adjustment we made to the Ansell-Menards Ford made us tight in the middle,” said Frank Kimmel.

Frank had driven the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Ford up to 7th by the first pit stop. Kimmel’s Ansell-Menards pit crew assisted the march to the front by providing a seamless pit stop, which gained Frank two more spots to 5th place.

Unfortunately, Frank Kimmel was flagged for speeding on to pit road and was forced to restart at the tail-end of the longest line. Less than 8 laps later a caution put Frank in position to bring the Ansell-Menards Ford in for fresh tires and fuel in hopes of gaining some ground lost in the previous pit stop.

Frank Kimmel

However, Kimmel was flagged yet again for speeding on to pit road. After restarting 11th, Kimmel would drive his way through the field and finish 6th.

“We couldn’t get the car comfortable enough to just hit the gas and go. And the two penalties hurt our track position there. Still, to finish sixth is a testament to these guys on the Ansell-Menards crew. We improved on the car during practice yesterday and got us a good point’s finish,” said Kimmel after the race.

Even though they weren’t the first to take the checkered flag Saturday afternoon in the Prairie Meadows 200 at Iowa Speedway, the team did tally their sixth top-10 run of the year.

The Newton, Iowa race track welcomed the teams on Saturday with steamy conditions which included soaring temperatures and heavy humidity. Despite the unbearable conditions, the show must still go on. In time trails, Hackenbracht impressed. Guiding his No. 58 Fast Fixin’ / On the Go PBJamwich Chevrolet Impala SS around the .875-mile paved oval, the rising phenom captured the seventh fastest time overall, a career best giving the freshman ARCA team strength heading towards the green flag.

With a heat index topping out at 124 degrees outside the car and a sweltering 150 degrees plus inside the car, the stars and cars of the ARCA Racing Series took the green flag shortly after 4:00 p.m. Hackenbracht’s attempt to gain position on the track would be stalled when the No. 63 spun in turn three.

Restarting the race on lap six, Hackenbracht would maintain his position in the first half-dozen before moving into the top-five on lap 20. Even though, Hackenbracht was reporting tight in the center and loose off condition to his team, the No. 58 Fast Fixin’ / On the Go PBJamwich Chevrolet Impala SS continued to plug some of the fastest laps on the track.

The New Philadelphia, Ohio native would hover inside the top-five until being passed approaching lap 35. Still dealing with the handling condition, the team advised their driver to hang on until they could bring him to pit road for changes.

The yellow that the team needed waived on lap 49 allowing the CGH Motorsports team to bring their driver down pit lane on lap 52 for four tires, fuel, a track bar and air pressure adjustments were delivered to try and correct the handling issue. Hackenbracht would have to return to pit road on lap 53 though, serving a pass-through penalty for speeding.

Restarting the race on lap 58, Hackenbracht rode in seventh before moving into sixth on lap 64. Flirting with fifth, sixth and seventh on the scoring pylon, the former Legends champion cleverly maneuvered into fifth on lap 69 and held it through lap 91 when the yellow flag waived again.

Topping off on pit road on lap 94, the team attempted to give their driver a boost with another track bar adjustment. The No. 58 Fast Fixin’ / On the Go PBJamwich Chevrolet Impala SS restarted the contest in eighth position. Climbing to seventh by halfway, Hackenbracht would endure a problem just three laps later. Advising his team from the cockpit, Hackenbracht stated that he had lost a cylinder in the motor, falling from eight to seven cylinders.

A caution on lap 110 allowed the team to bring their race car to pit road where they checked the spark plug wires. Unable to find anything, the team set their Hackenbracht back into competition on the lead lap holding steady in the seventh position.

Over the next 90 laps, Hackenbracht’s car would continue to utter an unhealthy sound but continue to dish out respectable lap times. Battling Tom Hessert, Jared Marks and Sean Corr for a finishing position inside the top-10, Hackenbracht was able to fend off Marks and despite a late race battle with Sean Corr for ninth, Hackenbracht would persevere through determination and hunker down in the 10th position where he would take the checkered flag.

Chad Hackenbracht

“It was hot,” offered Hackenbracht after the race. “I’ve never experienced anything like that in my racing career. It was brutal, especially without my KoolBox, which we never able to get it working. The car was good for most of the race. Just after halfway, we lost a cylinder. Still, we were able to hang on and finish 10th. All things considered, we’ll take that.

I know the heat affected everyone, not just me during the race, so I want to thank on the CGH Motorsports team for never giving up and delivering good pit stops against some very adverse conditions.”

He concluded by saying, “I also want to thank AdvancePierre™ Foods and Fast Fixin’ for sponsoring us this weekend. I appreciate them jumping on-board with us at a great race track like Iowa Speedway. I hate we weren’t able to take them to victory lane, but I’m happy we were still able to give them a good finish.”

Eastern. Hackenbracht will make his inaugural debut at the Clermont, Indiana-based track.

CGH Motorsports Iowa Speedway Weekend Notes:

SPEED will drop the green flag on its 16th season of ARCA coverage with the series’ 49th appearance at the world-renowned Daytona International Speedway in February.

“ARCA has a very supportive group of race fans, and for nearly 15 years they have turned to SPEED for their television coverage,” said SPEED president Hunter Nickell. “We now look forward to continuing in that role through 2012.”

ARCA’s relationship with SPEED reaches back to April 20, 1997, when the network (then Speedvision) covered the ARCA Racing Series race at Salem Speedway. Since then, SPEED has aired a total of 183 ARCA Racing Series events, with today’s Prairie Meadows 200 at Iowa Speedway scheduled as the 184th.

“ARCA and SPEED have invested a great deal over time in our long-term relationship,” said ARCA president Ron Drager. “We’re very encouraged that SPEED will continue to be the television home for the ARCA Racing Series, and we are especially pleased to be able to make this 2012 announcement at the midway point of the current season.”

SPEED™, anchored by its popular and wide-ranging coverage of NASCAR, is the nation’s first and only cable television network dedicated to automotive and motorcycle racing, performance and lifestyle. Now available in more than 80 million homes in North America, SPEED, a FOX Sports property, is among the industry leaders in interactive TV, video on demand, mobile initiatives and broadband services. For more information, please visit SPEED.com, the online motor sports authority.

Hoosier Extends Relationship: Drager also announced that the ARCA Racing Series and Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. have extended the partnership between the two for two more years, to run through the 2013 season.

Based in Lakeville, Ind., Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. produces the Official Tire of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and is part of one of the longest-standing sponsor relationships in ARCA’s 59-year history. Hoosier co-founder Bob Newton began his association with the ARCA nameplate in 1953 when he competed as a racer in ARCA-sanctioned short track racing at Flat Rock Speedway. Hoosier has participated as a supplier for ARCA-sanctioned events since the 1960s and has been the exclusive tire provider for the ARCA Racing Series since 1995.

R.E. On Board Through 2015: Racing Electronics, the Official Two-Way Communications Provider of ARCA and the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, has exercised an option to extend the company’s contract with ARCA for three more years, Drager said.

The current five-year agreement lasts through the 2012 season; the extension means that ARCA and R.E. will work together through at least the 2015 season. Racing Electronics has been an official communications provider for ARCA since 1997.

The extension of the agreement contains an enhancement of the partnership between ARCA and R.E., as it includes R.E.’s administration and issuance of RaceSafe on-board caution light systems – which are required for all teams competing in the ARCA Racing Series. Further information detailing the partnership enhancement and R.E.’s involvement with the ARCA Safety Initiative is forthcoming.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards features 19 events at 16 tracks on its 2011 schedule. The series has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. The series tests the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, annually visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course.

Founded by John Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in two professional touring series and local weekly events.

Raceway last month, Buster Graham returns to wheel of the No. 59 Batter’s Dream Dodge Charger this weekend for his second go-around with Mark Gibson Racing (MGR) in Saturday afternoon’s Prairie Meadows 200 at Iowa Speedway.

Recording a solid 20th place finish at the tricky triangle of Pocono, Graham returns to short track racing, something he’s experienced first-hand in the USARacing Pro Cup Series for the 11th installment of the 2011 ARCA Racing Series season.

With an understanding and adaption to how an ARCA car handles and maneuvers, Graham has raised his expectation levels just a notch for his first tango with the .075-mile paved oval.

“I’m looking forward to returning to the ARCA Racing Series this weekend, especially with Mark Gibson Racing,” said Graham. “I had a blast at Pocono and everyone in the ARCA garage was so welcoming, it was almost overwhelming. We did what we needed to do and that was to finish the race. Now that I have some laps under my belt, I think it would be fair to raise the bar for myself just a tad and collect a top-20 finish on Saturday.”

Not knowing what to expect from the impressive Iowa Speedway, Graham will lean on his car owner and crew chief Mark Gibson – who is often considered one of the most respected individuals in the garage.

“I don’t have a better person on my side rather than Mark Gibson,” offered Graham, a native of Lafayette, Louisiana. “Thankfully, Mark has been to Iowa before, so he’ll have a setup that we can start with and then adjust as needed. I’m still learning these ARCA cars, they are a lot different than anything I’ve ever raced before, but I’m having a blast with them. Getting comfortable with the track is my main objective leading up to the race, because once I’m familiar with the track – then I’m hoping I can keep up with the pace of some of the regulars.”

For his second ARCA race, Batter’s Dream returns to the role as the primary marketing role of Graham’s No. 59 entry this weekend.

Batter’s Dream is an automated ball feeding system (pitching machine) that allows baseball hitters and softball hitters to maximize time in the batting cage by getting more quality cuts without fixing a tee. One of the key benefits of the Batter’s Dream batting machines is that it allows batters the freedom to focus on rhythm, stance, and timing and swing speed without the need for a second person. Simply put, Batter’s Dream is the most effective, simple and easy-to-use soft toss system ever invented to help improve a hitter’s mechanics and increase their batting average.

“None of this would be possible without my father-in-law Don (Mashburn),” sounded Graham. “Batter’s Dream is an amazing project and everyone will soon see why I stand behind this product. It’s just not because I have a personal tie to it, it’s because I truly believe in it. Hopefully we can bat our way to a good finish.”

For Gibson, the opportunity to work with Graham again in ARCA is one that he is welcoming with open arms. “I tell you that Buster really impressed me at Pocono,” he said. “For his first time ever in an ARCA car, especially at that track he really did a great job. I’m not necessarily surprised though because Buster has amazed me a lot this year with his lack of experience and all. We’ve set our own personal goals for this weekend at Iowa and there’s no reason in my mind that we shouldn’t be able to accomplish those hands down.”

The four-time winner in ARCA competition went onto say, “Iowa Speedway is such a great place to race. It resembles Richmond (Va.) International Raceway in a lot of ways – but the track has produced some great racing in the ARCA Racing Series and I don’t expect anything less on Saturday afternoon. As for Buster, his biggest challenge may be adjusting to the heavier car on a smaller track, but I’m sure with some guidance and self-confidence, we’re going to be just fine.”

The Prairie Meadows 200 (200 laps / 175 miles) is the 11th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The sixth ever ARCA race at Iowa Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, July 15th with an hour and twenty minute practice session planned from 3:00 p.m. – 4:20 p.m. A final fifty minute session has been etched in from 5:30 p.m. – 6:20 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated for race day, Saturday July 16th set to begin at 12:10 p.m. The event will take the green flag shortly after 4:15 p.m. The event will air live on SPEED. Additional event coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,323rd race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com. All times are local.

Raceway where Grant Enfinger and Allgaier Motorsports scored the pole, led 75 laps and boasted a third place finish in the Hantz Group 200, the duo hopes to keep their flame burning in this weekend’s edition of the Prairie Meadows 200 at Iowa Speedway.

After 10 races, the Springfield, Illinois-based team has enjoyed a stellar season. With three top-fives, eight top-10s and no finishes worse than 14th – the Mike Allgaier-owned team appears to be in championship mode with just nine races remaining in 2011. Despite the strong finishes, the team however has been denied victory. Allgaier Motorsports crew chief Kelly Kovski and Enfinger are hoping to change that stat though in the No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger Saturday afternoon.

Bringing a brand new Chrysler nameplate to the .875-mile paved oval this weekend, the Allgaier Motorsports team is hoping to assure the rest of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards competition that their not to be taken lightly.

Grant Enfinger

“Mike (Allgaier) has given us the resources to win,” said Enfinger, who will make his second career ARCA start at Iowa Speedway this weekend. “We’ve had a good season but not well enough. This team is used to celebrating in victory lane and believe me I’m probably more eager than anyone to get them a win, maybe just maybe Saturday is our day.”

Having experience at the Rusty Wallace-designed race track with a stellar top-five finish last year, Enfinger is embracing those 200 laps from 2010 and hoping to apply them to this weekend, which continues his first full season of stock car competition.

“I love Iowa,” sounded Enfinger. “It’s a heck of a place to race at. It’s a neat short track that provides some good racing. You still have to mind your matters because it is a short track but I’ve become to enjoy these smaller tracks the more I race on them.”

Executing two birds with one stone, following the race at Berlin, the Allgaier Motorsports made the trip to Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis where they took the opportunity to test at the historic facility not only in preparation for the ARCA race their at the end of the month, but also shake down their new No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger, securing the team’s mentality that all of the kinks have been attended too.

“Having a new car sometimes can be two-fold,” explained Enfinger, an avid short track competitor. “You are excited because you are awfully proud to bring a new piece to the race track, but you also have those nerves that tend to rattle your brain because you think that something may be missing or not properly connected, etc. This Allgaier Motorsports team though has some of the best of the best in the garage and they have immaculately gone over our No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger making sure she’s ready for battle Saturday afternoon.”

The Fairhope, Alabama native has found himself knocking on the door of victory three times in his ARCA career that has consisted of 28 races. Knowing that Allgaier Motorsports, the team that glorified Justin Allgaier to his championship in 2008 is capable of sealing the deal is the momentum that keeps Enfinger plugging each and every week.

“Words would not be able to describe what winning an ARCA would mean to me,” Enfinger embraced. “I’ve been close several times but we’ve come up short. Mike (Allgaier), the Allgaier family, Kelly (Kovski) and the whole team have put their faith in me to put our car in victory lane. I’m trying not to disappoint them; I know it’s a matter of when not if for us.”

Just past the halfway mark of the season, Enfinger and Co. lock fourth in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings just 25 points behind third place runner Chris Buescher. The team’s third place outing at Berlin propelled them past fellow ARCA competitor Chad McCumbee in the championship standings.”

“We made a little ground on Ty (Dillon) at Berlin,” explained Enfinger. “There’s still a long way to go as far as the season is concerned. Everyone saw that the championship can come down to the final laps of the season finale. In order for us to be in that scenario we need to collect, earn and gain every point possible. Our agenda doesn’t change for Saturday.”

Entering Iowa, Enfinger has 28 ARCA Racing Series starts to his credit. In those events, he has maneuvered 10 top-fives and 18 top-10 finishes including a career-best finish of second three times at Kentucky Speedway (July 2009), Chicagoland Speedway (August 2009), and Toledo Speedway (May 2011)). He has controlled the field nine times for 216 laps. Hi best qualifying run occurred at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway where Enfinger bolted to his first career pole.

The Prairie Meadows 200 (200 laps / 175 miles) is the 11th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The sixth ever ARCA race at Iowa Speedway is a two-day show. (July 13, 2011) – Milka Duno and her Sheltra Motorsports team are set to spring back into ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards action at Iowa Speedway for the Prairie Meadows 200 on Saturday, July 16. Duno will be making her first start behind the wheel of a stock car on the 7/8 mile oval.

“I’m looking forward to hitting the track at Iowa Speedway in a stock car,” said Duno. “I like the track very much and the fans in Iowa have always been good to me – so I look forward to seeing many of them again. I welcome David Leiner Jr. to the effort and I’m anxious to work together with him and the crew for a good result.”

While the stock car rookie, Duno, will be learning to wheel her No. 63 CITGO SUPERGARD Toyota around Iowa’s 0.875-mile track, she will have the experience of her 2010 championship winning Sheltra Motorsports team’s four previous starts at Iowa Speedway to guide her. The team will have a slightly different look this weekend at Iowa Speedway as David Leiner Jr. will be taking over command as crew chief.

“I am really excited to be joining the Sheltra Motorsports team and to have the opportunity to work with Milka Duno,” said Leiner. “We are looking forward to kick starting our relationship with a strong finish at Iowa Speedway. Milka has done a tremendous job and has had some strong runs so far this year, and I can’t wait to build upon that success in the second half of the ARCA Racing Series Season.

While it will be Leiner’s first start with Duno and Sheltra Motorsports, he is certainly no stranger to success in the ARCA Racing Series. Sporting 51-career wins and three championships (Tim Steele-1993, 1996, 1997), Leiner has over 16 years of experience as an ARCA Racing Series crew chief. The veteran crew chief led drivers such as Blaise Alexander, Blake Feese, Kyle Krisiloff, Boston Reid and most recently Robb Brent (Pocono, 2010) to their first-career ARCA victories and looks to continue that success with Milka Duno beginning in Saturday’s Prairie Meadows 200 at Iowa Speedway.

Duno and her Sheltra Motorsports team will take to Iowa Speedway’s 7/8-mile oval on Friday, July 15 for two afternoon practice sessions. ARCA Racing Series action will begin on Saturday, July 16 when the green flag drops for 200 laps of stock car racing action at 4:15 p.m. CDT. SPEED will have live television coverage of the Prairie Meadows 200 with live timing and scoring on ARCARacing.com.

Milka Duno and the No. 63 CITGO SUPERGARD Toyota Fast Facts:

Duno at Iowa: Milka Duno will be making her first stock car start at the 7/8-mile track.

This Week’s Toyota: Duno will pilot chassis No. SM020 at Iowa Speedway. This chassis comes from Red Bull Racing and is a brand new chassis to the Sheltra Motorsports team.

New Look: Duno’s Sheltra Motorsports team will have a new look at Iowa Speedway as veteran crew chief Dave Leiner Jr. takes over the reins as crew chief. Leiner, a three-time ARCA Racing Series champion, earned his last and 51st-career victory at Pocono Raceway in 2010, bringing Robb Brent to victory lane for the first time in his young career.
While the Sorel, Quebec native was forced to skip last weekend’s race at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, she still attended the Hantz Group 200 to support her Tony Marks Racing (TMR) team and the No. 12 Mad Croc Energy / VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger driven by 2010 ARCA champion Patrick Sheltra.

With Sheltra starting sixth and finishing fourth, Dufault and her TMR team led by Darren Wolfe and Ryan Chism return to short track racing this weekend hoping to keep the team’s momentum pointed in the right direction.

“I feel great, I’m just ready to get back in a race car,” said Dufault. “It was extremely hard to sit out last weekend’s race at Berlin, but it was in the best interest of everyone at Tony Marks Racing and Patrick did a good job. Hopefully some things I learned from him can adapt to Iowa.”

Officially out of the championship hunt, Dufault shifts her agenda on the ARCA tour now aiming for strong finishes to keep her freshman team in the spotlight.

“Now that points’ aren’t necessarily an issue, we can focus on the bigger picture and that’s trying to win races. Obviously, that’s a tough task for any team to do in ARCA this year, but this is a good team with a lot of talented people, so we’re going to do our absolute best in the next eight races to put our No. 12 Mad Croc Energy / VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger in victory lane.”

With that mentality planted, Dufault knows that in order to win races, you must be around for the final laps to have a shot. And while Dufault has struggled to see the checkered flag on the short tracks this year due to circumstances beyond her control, the former NASCAR Canadian Tire Series pilot is glued on being around when it counts the most.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t had good luck on the short tracks this year,” recalled Dufault. “We’re looking to change that statistic stat and be around to see the final laps at Iowa Speedway. I hear it’s a pretty cool track and relatively easier to drive compared to some of the other short tracks we compete on. We’ll just have to see how it goes.”

Car owner Tony Marks is thrilled to have one of the most popular drivers in ARCA back in the saddle this weekend at Iowa Speedway. The successful Ohio entrepreneur feels that Dufault will climb in her Dodge Charger and compete as she hasn’t missed a beat.

“Maryeve is a crucial piece to the success of Tony Marks Racing, so we’re glad to have her back in the seat this weekend,” he said. “Last weekend’s results were a boost for us all and I think it has Maryeve more determined than ever. I like her attentiveness to the details and the overall goals for this weekend, so hopefully we can have back-to-back strong runs for the No. 12 Mad Croc Energy / VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger.”

For the third time this season, Tony Marks Racing will field two entries on the ARCA Racing Series tour. In addition to Dufault, TMR development driver Jared Marks will compete in the 11th race of the season in the No. 8 Mad Croc Energy / VR-12 / Dodge Motorsports Dodge Charger on Saturday afternoon.

This weekend, Tony Marks Racing is pleased to have the Hilton Garden Inn of West Des Moines, Iowa on-board as a major associate marketing partner for Saturday’s contest. The Hilton Garden Inn logo, part of the Hilton family of hotels will be plastered on the team’s No. 8 and No. 12 entries this weekend.

The Prairie Meadows 200 (200 laps / 175 miles) is the 11th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The sixth ever ARCA race at Iowa Speedway is a two-day show.
Marks began his racing career in 1985 getting behind the wheel of everything from drag racers, Dirt Late Models, SCCA Formula Fords, USAC F2000 Open Wheel and ARCA cars. Tony personally raced until 2005 amassing numerous wins, championships and track records along the way until he then changed his focus from driver to owner and began building racing programs for his children Jared (16 years old) and Rachel (13 years old). Under the auspices of TMR, Jared began his racing career in 2002 in quarter midgets and now competes in late model, CRA, ASA and ARCA Series events while Rachel continues her development program racing quarter midgets and Bandoleros.

For the NASCAR events TMR along with TMT, Inc. partnered with Forgotten Harvest for the “Million Meal Challenge For Our Kids” which helps to bridge the hunger gap while schools are out of session and feeds 20,000 children per day in the Detroit metro area. Forgotten Harvest was significantly displayed on the entry of Chase Austin during both the Truck and Nationwide events at Michigan International Speedway along with logos of “Million Meal Challenge” sponsors Walgreen’s, United Race Group, Holyfield’s Choice Alka-Power Water and Vitamin Spice. Evander Holyfield was also instrumental in the challenge, acting as Grand Marshall for the August race and announcing his “Fight Against Hunger” on behalf of Forgotten Harvest.

As the first race team to “Drive Against Hunger” through their partnership with Forgotten Harvest, TMR plans to continue their alliance with Forgotten Harvest and once again “Drive Against Hunger” during the 2011 season.

NEWTON, Iowa (July 13, 2011) – - If there has been an event that Tom Hessert III has been patiently waiting for, Iowa Speedway ranks at the top of his list. After notching his first career victory in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards in last year’s Prairie Meadows 200, Hessert returns to the site this weekend armed and ready to defend his race title.

On the heels of a solid sixth place finish at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway last weekend, a win in Saturday afternoon’s Prairie Meadows 200 would be a boost that Hessert in Ken Schrader Racing’s No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Impala would be more than glad to welcome.

Tom Hessert III

“I have been looking forward to returning to Iowa Speedway all season,” offered Hessert, who will make his third career start at the .875-mile paved oval this weekend. “Even before we scored our first win there last year Iowa was one of my favorite tracks on the ARCA tour. Going back as the defending race winner makes my team and I very excited to get back there.”

The odds of pulling off his second career ARCA win in the 11th race of the 2011 season are grand. Adding ammunition towards the field for yet another victory at Iowa Speedway will come with the guidance and helm of crew chief John Monsam.

“Our car was virtually perfect,” Hessert recalled. “We made some adjustments from practice to qualifying and in the race we just found our niche. John Monsam is a large part of the success that we had all of last season and having him with us this year is awesome. He and I communicate very well and have a great place to start with the car based upon last year’s set up. I feel that with the information we have and with the strong team at KSR we can certainly contended for another win at Iowa Speedway.”

He continued, it’s been too long since Ken Schrader Racing and Federated Auto Parts have been to victory lane, so hopefully we’ll be able to turn that around this weekend.”

Grabbing his seventh top-10 finish in 10 races last weekend places Hessert eighth overall in the championship standings with just nine races remaining. Trailing sixth place competitors Tim George Jr. and Matt Merrell by 95 points and fending off Chad Hackenbracht in ninth whose just 25 markers behind; points are crucial as ever with the series beginning to make a dent in their second half.

“If we can continue our solid finishes, hopefully we can chop off some of our deficit to some of the other drivers and teams and move the KSR team up the ladder,” sounded Hessert. “The competition is tight, maybe even a little tighter than last year, so we just have to remain focused and hope in the end, the points will take care of themselves and we’ll be in the hunt.”

In addition to Federated Auto Parts, Cherry Hill Classic Cars will serve as an associate marketing partner for Hessert’s 75th career ARCA start. In his previous 74 outings, he has maneuvered one win, 14 top-fives and 37 top-10s.
