2011 NSCS Andy Lally - Photo Credit: John Harrelson/Getty Images for NASCAR

Mooresville, N.C. (8/11/2011) - TRG Motorsports heads to Watkins Glen International this weekend for the running of the Heluva Good! Dips at the Glen NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event. A strong weekend at Pocono further solidified the team’s position in the top-35 of NASCAR’s owner’s points standings.

Andy Lally will be pulling double duty as he will compete in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the Rolex Grand-American Series. Lally, a three-time Grand-Am Champion and a four-time Grand-Am Watkins Glen winner is looking forward to the weekend.

“I’ve been looking forward to this weekend all season long. We have put a lot of extra effort into the road racing program. I’m excited to be pulling double duty this weekend. We have done a lot of work on our Sprint Cup car since Sonoma and our Grand-Am car is actually the same car TRG won the 6-Hour at the Glen with last year, so I know that I’ll be in two very good racecars this weekend.”

The trip to the Empire State will also be a homecoming for the NASCAR rookie.

“I grew up on Long Island, so I’m happy to come home and race this weekend. It’s just another reason to have a little extra motivation this weekend. I can’t say enough how much I’m looking forward to this trip.”

Lally’s teammate in Saturday’s Grand-Am event will be Duncan Ende. Ende will be seeking back-to-back victories as he and teammate Spencer Pumpelly took home the checkered flag in their class at Mid-Ohio last weekend. Ende has been on an incredible run since his big win at last years Petite Le Mans.

Crew chief Doug Richert is seeking a strong run for the no.71 team.

“We missed some things at Sonoma, but we’ve learned from them and I think we have taken some big steps towards fielding a competitive ride for Andy this weekend. I have all the confidence in the world in his road racing abilities. He’s shown time and time again that he can win turning left and right. Obviously, these Sprint Cup cars are a lot heavier and drastically different from anything he has ever raced before. But he is doing a good job every week and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do for us at a track he has a good amount of experience on.”

Richert also stressed the importance of a good qualifying run.

“No one has ever qualified outside the top-20 and won here. Track position is very important here. It’s not like Sonoma where you can start in the back, get off sequence in your pit strategy and end up in the front at the end of the day. You can still try those things to some extent, but it makes your whole weekend a lot easier if you have a good starting position when the green flag drops. The other thing that makes qualifying here more difficult is that the driver only gets one chance to put down a solid lap. That’s different from every other track we go to where the driver gets two laps to set his time.”

Team owner Kevin Buckler is hoping for a pair of solid races for his organization.

“We’ve been competitive in sports car racing for a very long time. On that side of things, we’re the team to beat most weekends. The NASCAR side of things has been somewhat humbling, but we are making progress every single weekend. I see our cars getting better, our team getting stronger and Andy driving more competitively. If we continue to improve in each of those three areas, we will continue to make progress as an organization.

Andy has done some real heads up driving the past few weekends for us. He’s being more aggressive, but still driving smart. He has more laps around this place than any track we go to on the schedule. This is where he made his first Cup race and where I think he has as good of a shot as anyone at having a strong weekend. Hopefully a good race Saturday will boost his confidence heading into Sunday and we can come out of this thing with our heads high and a pair of results we can be proud of.”

Coverage of Saturday’s Rolex Grand-Am Series Action will begin at 6:00 p.m. ET on SPEED. Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series action will begin at 12:00 noon on ESPN.

The Tulare, Calif. veteran, driver of the No. 88 Menards/Tarkett Chevrolet Silverado, holds a single-point lead in series point standings over Clay Rogers. Driving for the series’ longest tenured active owner, ThorSport Racing will make its 343rd and 344th starts over the weekend (along with championship-contending teammate Johnny Sauter in the No. 13 Safe Auto/Curb Records Chevrolet Silverado). Crafton also has the longest-running consecutive sponsor relationship in the NCWTS, with Menards, Inc. for the past ten years.

Crafton finished seventh at Phoenix International Raceway just two weeks ago to rank among the top 10 in points for the 74th consecutive race – a streak that stands fourth in series history. ThorSport Racing continues to dominate with its teams, finishing among the top 10 in points seven times with both trucks in 2009-2010.

ON THE RACETRACK:

“I’m not going to lie, Darlington is not my favorite race track to run. You definitely race the track – it’s not about the competition around you, and that will play mind games on you. I was running as high as third last year, and I realized you just can’t go side by side here. It’s miserable to pass, and that’s just being honest! You won’t see much passing going on by the veterans – it’s just tough and the track is not very wide. You really have to trust your instincts and what you feel in the truck on the track, rather than go for position against your competitors.”

ON LEARNING FROM OTHERS:

“It’s funny, I don’t normally say that I learn a lot from other drivers – this is my 10th year in the NCWTS. Hopefully, I know what I need to improve upon since I’m my own worst critic. But last year, Bodine passed me at a pivotal point in the race. I remember saying to myself at that point, ‘Wow. That just helped me. I’m doing that next lap.’ So he’s the one to watch here, and he just performs so well at this track. If I learn anything, it will probably be from Todd.”

ON PREPARATION:

“It’s mental. I do TiVo races, and Darlington is definitely one I’ll be watching this week (the race from 2010). That was an exciting race, but a lot of veteran drivers got taken out. Since the repave, it’s a lot like Daytona when you’re talking about surface. I loved the old pavement, it was just enough grip. Now, it’s so much grip that it gives a false sense of security. It’s still an amazing track that we as drivers have to respect – I mean, it IS Darlington after all.”

ON BEING FIRST IN DRIVER POINTS:

“Talk to me in ten weeks! When we have ten races to go, or even five races to go, I’ll really care. Yes, I’m happy to be at the top of the boards, but no, it doesn’t mean anything right now with all the racing we have left this season. It is unreal, the competition this year in our Series. I love it. What I will tell you is that I’m proud that we’re ahead of the game already this year. Last year, we started having some challenges right about this time – it was Atlanta for us. I think our energy is high coming into Darlington – the whole team- so it makes a huge difference. We have to keep it up!”

CHASSIS INFORMATION:

Chassis No. 30. Last used in Homestead, Florida in 2010 where Crafton qualified in seventh position and finished sixth.

Martinsville Speedway

Kroger 200

October 23, 2010

Peters at Martinsville…Timothy Peters heads to his home track this weekend as the defending race winner. Peters led 84 laps en route to his first career victory at the Virginia paperclip last fall. Martinsville Speedway is a track that Peters knows well. In nine previous starts, he has earned five top-10 and two top-five finishes including one trip to Victory Lane in 2009 and a fourth place finish earlier this spring. Peters is hungry for the win again this fall and knows just what it takes to get there.

It’s All In The Preparation…Timothy Peters used the three weeks off to prepare himself for this event at Martinsville Speedway. On October 3rd, he participated in the Virginia Is For Lovers 300 Late Model race at his home track. Peters completed the entire 200 lap event and earned a sixth place finish overall. Last Friday, Peters and his Red Horse Racing team headed to The Motor Mile in Radford, VA to shake down the Martinsville primary chassis. The #17 learned some things at the test they feel will play into their favor on Saturday.

Every Point Counts…As the season winds down, Peters knows that every point he earns in these last five events will be valuable. Currently tied for fifth in the driver point standings, Peters is determined to gain as many spots as possible before the checkered flag falls at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He is just 35 points behind the fourth spot and 161 points back from second.

Wiss On Board At Martinsville… Wiss® cutting products have been earning a reputation for craftsmanship and long life since 1848. Go to any race garage or pit toolbox and chances are you’ll find several pairs of Wiss Metalmaster® compound action snips … they’ve been the preferred brand with sheet metal pros for over 50 years. The wide Wiss product line now includes snips, scissors, industrial shears, utility knives, and HVAC tools … all with famous Wiss quality built in.

Timothy Peters on racing at Martinsville Speedway “ I’m really looking forward to Martinsville this weekend. My face just lights up when I say the word “Martinsville”! I just hope we can repeat what we did last year. I’ve always loved that place; it just fits my driving style. It was so special to get my first win in front of all the home town friends and family. Martinsville is kind of like Daytona because you never know what’s going to happen. I think the extra 200 laps from the late model race is really going to help me. We just need to keep the fenders on and be up front at the end and I think we will have a strong shot and getting back to Victory Lane.”

Jeff Hensley on racing at Martinsville Speedway “I love Martinsville race week because it’s close to home. We had a good run in the spring. We finished fourth but we know where we got beat and how we got beat and we know how to make it better. We just missed it a little in March but I’m confident we will have what it takes this weekend. With this race being 50 laps shorter than it was in the spring, Timothy will be racing hard every lap. We just need to keep the truck in good shape and be there in the end.”

Equipment Information Timothy Peters will compete with chassis #137 in Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway. This is the same chassis he raced at Martinsville in March where he started fifth and finished fourth.

Timothy Peters Seeks Sponsorship Partner Peters is still seeking sponsorship for his #17 Toyota Tundra. Red Horse Racing is currently running the #17 without primary sponsorship. For more information on sponsorship opportunities please contact Tom DeLoach at 704-662-0039.

New York native Donny Lia is Brooklyn bound… Brooklyn, Michigan that is!

So far in 2010, bad luck has plagued the hard charging Long Islander, two flat tires and two accidents have taken four potential top-ten runs away from Lia and the SS Green Light team. The finishes have not shown how fast the team has been, including qualifying third at Charlotte several weeks ago.

This week Donny will climb behind the wheel of a Dodge RAM usually driven by teammate Jason White, as the team believes it will provide Donny with the best chance for success at the two-mile speedway southwest of Detroit.

“I am just thankful of the opportunity that Ken Smith and Bobby Dotter have given me. It really doesn’t matter what brand of truck it is, I ran a Dodge at Daytona and it was fast,” Lia said. “If the truck is good enough, my job is put it up front.”

Lia has one previous start at Michigan International Speedway back in 2008. He had a very good run coming from the 26th starting spot to finish 12th in the Cool City Customs 200.

Crew Chief Jason Miller is ready for the challenge of the wide, sweeping speedway that is know for long green flag runs and fuel strategy, “It’s pretty simple this week; Donny finished 12th back in 08, he knows how to get around this track. If we get the truck right, he’ll be up on the wheel.”

“I’m excited because I know this is a good truck. We just need to get a little bit of good luck this week and once that happens we can turn this thing back around.”

Lia revisited his roots this past weekend. Filling in for modified veteran Wayne Anderson, Donny carved his way from a starting spot deep in the field to win a 35-lap NASCAR Modified feature back home at Riverhead Raceway.

“To be honest racing a Modified wasn’t on the list of things to do this year. I really want to put 100-percent of my focus on the Truck. My goal is to run up front every week in the Truck series,” Lia added. “I had no intentions of racing a Modified. To race at Riverhead and to help Wayne out is different.”

Bobby Dotter, General Manager of SS Green Light Racing has high expectations for Lia and teammate Jason White this week. “We bought a Ford from Roush/Fenway and we decided to run Jason in that truck. So we’re going to put Donny into one of the good Dodges that Jason has been running. I think they are the two best trucks we have for a track like Michigan.”

Thirty-six trucks are on the entry list for the VFW 200.

There will be two practice sessions on Friday, June 11th for the VFW 200 at the Michigan International Speedway. Qualifying will be Saturday, June 12th at 9:30am with the green flag falling on the 100-lap race at 2:00pm. The race will be shown live on SPEED TV and will also be broadcast live on MRN Radio and Sirius NASCAR Radio 128.

(Aug. 5, 2009) — Ask Ryan Newman or any member of the No. 39 U.S. Army/Haas Automation team and they will tell you that August in NASCAR is not any different than September in Major League Baseball or December in the National Football League.

Those are the months that contending teams crunch the numbers and study different scenarios on how to make the post-season playoffs, which in the case of NASCAR is qualifying for the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship.

Newman is currently sitting in ninth place and 165 points inside the Chase cutline with five races remaining before the top-12 drivers compete in the 10-race championship run.

Newman qualified for the Chase in the first two seasons of the championship format (2004-2005), but has been on the outside looking in the past three years.

“I wish we were in better shape in points, but I am happy to be where I am in reference to where I was last year,” said Newman, driver of the No. 39 U.S. Army/Haas Automation Impala SS. “In general I am excited about the next five races and feel we have a good mixture of tracks that we can do well at.”

The start of the five remaining pre-Chase begins this weekend at the 2.45-mile road course at Watkins Glen International in upstate New York. The other four races include two short tracks (Bristol and Richmond), Michigan (2.0-mile) and Atlanta (1.54-mile).

“I really like Watkins Glen and have had a lot of fun there over the years,” said Newman, whose best finish at the road circuit was second in his 2002 rookie season. “When you look at the two road courses we compete at — Infineon Raceway (in Sonoma, Calif.) and Watkins Glen — it’s the Glen that is a better track as far as passing goes. And all drivers like a facility where you can pass.

“Regarding the Chase nothing is certain no matter what kind of point lead you have at this time. There are plenty of talented teams vying to get into the top 12. If we can finish in the top-10 in the next five races that will seal the deal. But we — the Army/Haas Automation team — want to do better than that. We want to get that first win for our Soldiers and carry the momentum into the Chase.”

To better prepare for Sunday’s Heluva Good! at the Glen Cup race, Newman will also compete in Saturday’s Nationwide Series event, driving the No. 1 car for Phoenix Racing.

“I not only want to win Saturday’s Nationwide race, but I also want to get a little more dialed in for the Cup race,” added Newman.

At the only other road race of the season — June 21 at Infineon Raceway — Newman had a strong run until he got spun out late in the event. He finished 17th.

Newman’s 2009 campaign with the new Stewart-Haas Racing team has produced a number of highs including five top fives and nine top 10s. His best finish to date has been second at the Memorial Day race in Charlotte.

Team Race Preview

NASCAR Nationwide Series Race 12 of 35 – Dover (Del.) International Speedway

TAMING THE MONSTER MILE: In 13 previous starts at Dover (Del.) International Speedway, Kevin Harvick holds a record of three poles, two top-five and seven top-10 finishes and has led a total of 290 laps. As he makes his 14th start in the Nationwide Series at the Moster Mile, Harvick will aim to get his first win at the track and the first of the season for Copart in their first appearance on the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Chevrolet.

FIRST TIMER: Harvick arrived at Dover International Speedway for his first Nationwide Series appearance in 2000 and without previously being on the track, scored his first pole at the Monster Mile. Harvick went on to lead 97 laps and score a sixth-place finish. Prior to arriving at the track, the only “expereince” Harvick had on the famous track was via a computer racing game.

This weekend, KHI new comer J.R. Fitzpatrick will be looking to repeat what his new boss accomplished in 2000, only Fitzpatrick will be attempting to do this behind the wheel of the No. 4 KHI Chevy Silverado. Fitzpatrick has never been to Dover, except on racing simulators where he has logged laps practicing how to get around the famous Monster Mile.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM: KHI welcomes Copart, Inc. to the No. 33 Nationwide Series team starting this weekend at Dover as a new primary sponsor. Copart Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT), is an online vehicle remarketing company that sells more than 1 million cars per year. In addition to Dover, Copart will serve as the primary sponsor at Kentucky Speedway (June 13), New Hampshire Motor Speedway (June 27), Watkins Glen International (August 8), Dover International Speedway (September 26), Memphis Motorsports Park (October 24) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (November 21). Copart can also be seen on the No. 33 KHI Chevy Silverado driven by three-time Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday.

BEFORE THE RACE: QUOTES WITH DRIVER KEVIN HARVICK:

Describe Dover International Speedway. “Dover is an extremely fast track. You really need to concentrate the entire race just to make sure you don’t get caught up in someone else’s mistake. The track is very narrow with a lot of banking, which makes for some great side-by-side racing. This track is one of the toughest places on our circuit to pass. You also need to have a good qualifying run since pit road is very small and narrow which can cause you to lose a lot of valuable positions during a routine pit stop.”

Do you think Dover is more like Bristol or Richmond? “It is like a big Bristol. It is a place where you can lean on the banking a lot. You have to make your car turn and as the race goes on, the track changes a lot as it takes rubber. You have to keep up with the race track as the rubber builds.

“We ran good at Bristol this year in the Nationwide car and obviously got our first win (of 2009) there. We struggled a little at Richmond, but still finished in the top five. We’re taking the same car that we ran at both of those races and hopefully we can find the right mix and I can get my first Nationwide Series win at the Monster Mile.”

Is it hard to avoid accidents when they happen at Dover? “Things happen really fast. There really isn’t a lot you can do. But, you can usually tell when something is getting ready to happen in front of you. The real trouble spots are driving in too deep under someone getting in and washing up, getting a bad push or getting loose off the corners. The track is self cleaning with all the banking so it’s hard to get out of the way if you are in the groove and it all starts coming down the hill.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: This weekend the No. 33 Copart Chevrolet team will unload chassis No. 041 for Harvick at Dover International Speedway. This chassis was on track earlier this season at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway where Harvick started the race from the 13th position and scored his first career victory in a KHI-owned car and at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway where Harvick started eighth and finished fifth.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: KHI co-owner Harvick piloted the No. 33 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Chevrolet to a 23rd-place finish at Lowe’s (N.C.) Motor Speedway over Memorial Day weekend. Starting the race from the eighth position, Harvick struggled with the handling of the car for most of the night. Falling two laps down to the leaders, Harvick was able to move into the 23rd position before rain shortened the CARQUEST Auto Parts 300, 30 laps from the finish. The No. 33 KHI Chevrolet now sits third in the NASCAR Owner’s Point Standings entering this weekend’s event at Dover International Speedway.

HAMPTON, Va. (May 23, 2009) – Clay Rogers shot through a narrow opening in a four-wide sprint to the finish Saturday night at Langley Speedway to narrowly defeat rookie Lucas Ransone in the HAMPTON VIRGINIA 250 presented by Racing Electronics for his first USARacing Pro Cup victory this season.

The stage was set for the Hollywood script ending with two laps remaining in the 250-lap race on the 0.4-mile track. That’s when Woody Howard’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Bobby Gill’s Ford Fusion and Ransone’s Monte Carlo closed on the bumper of Rogers’ Chevrolet Impala, which was leading. Headed into the third turn on the final lap they began jockeying for position and as they exited the fourth turn they were four wide with the checkered flag in sight. At the finish, Rogers edged ahead of Ransone by 0.058 second.

“That track really opened up a second, third, man, even a fourth groove there, I guess, at the end!” said an excited Rogers, who dominated the race, leading 116 laps in his C & C Boiler Sales & Service Chevy. “I think it was more fun to watch then it was to be in the car.

“Where did Lucas Ransone come from? Both his team and Bobby Gill’s team had different tire strategies and they did a great job!”

Rogers’ and his crew’s excitement overflowed into the crowd after the stunning victory.

“How many of you guys are Tony Stewart fans?” a jubilant Rogers screamed just before he and his team scrambled to the top of the fence.

Ransone’s shocking second-place finish was the best of his young career.

“The car was really pretty tight the whole race, it was just hard to handle. But we stuck with it,” said Ransone, who leads the USARacing Pro Cup’s rookie standings. “I knew there was gonna be a big finish. When you have three cars going for the lead like that, it can get wild. I learned patience and to stick with it and never back down (in) this race.”

Howard, the hometown favorite and former full-time Pro Cup driver, took the lead at the start and led the first 51 laps. With one lap remaining, he was second, hanging onto Rogers’ back bumper. But with the mad scramble to the checkered flag, Howard’s Dean Motorsports Chevy fell to fourth.

“Almost. I waited right there, waited until the end and I thought Clay and I were pretty equal,” said Howard, who drove in a 100-lap Late Model event that immediately followed the HAMPTON VIRGINIA 250. “When I moved up beneath (Rogers), Bobby Gill just came out of nowhere. That was fun racing today, though.”

The first of eight caution flags waved shortly after Caleb Holman’s Food Country USA Chevy Monte Carlo led the field to the green flag before a packed grandstand. Bill Bigley Jr.’s Peerless Woodworking Ford spun on the backstretch on the first lap and USARacing Pro Cup officials ordered a restart. It was then that Howard grabbed the lead.

Current point leader Drew Herring slowed the field for the second time on lap 68 when his BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors Ford spun. He gathered it back up and recovered to finish ninth.

Gill fought back to his third-place finish after colliding with J.P. Morgan’s Chevrolet Impala and being sent to the end of the longest line on lap 172.

Jeff Agnew also fought back from a spin in his Team 7/ Mark IV Suzuki Ford for an eighth-place finish. Agnew went to a backup car after developing a bad vibration during practice earlier in the day.

Rogers averaged 80.527 mph in the race slowed for 55 laps by the eight caution periods.

Derek Kale led at the halfway mark, but developed a steering issue in his Heritage Truck Centers Chevrolet Impala that left him 17th in the rundown.

Ten of the 21-car field finished on the lead lap.

Next on the USARacing Pro Cup Series schedule is Winchester Speedway in Winchester, Ind., on June 6. Check www.usarprocup.com for the latest news and updates.

Brent conquered that feat on Sunday and did so with a solid ninth place finish in the No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger. It was the third time this year that Brent had placed the Justin Allgaier Motorsports (JAM) automobile inside the top-10.

The weekend started off positively with Brent posting the 17th fastest lap with a time of 16.784 seconds or 107.245 miles per hour. “Our Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger is pretty good,” said Brent. “Bob (Blount, crew chief) and I have some ideas to make the car better.”

The team was looking forward to qualifying but a strong line of showers dampened the half-mile oval which subsequently canceled ARCA qualifying which lined the No. 36 team 18th on the starting grid.

From the drop of the green flag, Brent found his line around Toledo Speedway. A few bangs in the early stages of the event kept Brent on top of his game but climbing in the running order.

Throughout the race, Brent kept his primary goal in-check to complete all 200 laps and finish the race.

During the leader’s first trip to pit road, Brent pitted for four tires and fuel and rejoined the field solidly in the top-15.

The event’s second half would prove to be interesting for Brent. The No. 36 car would be involved in a minor skirmish on the frontstretch. With some damage, Brent brought his machine to pit road where the team repaired the car and returned to competition.

On a mission to get back towards the front, Brent would fight hard and use the string of green-flag racing to make his mark.

Sitting outside the top-10 in the race’s final laps, Brent found himself inside the top-10 on the final green-white-checkered finish when a multi-car incident ensued in turn four on the last lap. Brent emerged from the wreck unscathed to cross the line ninth, his second consecutive top-10 finish in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.

Robb Brent

“I finally finished a race at Toledo Speedway,” Brent said. “Man, that’s a good feeling. We had a pretty good car and great pit stops today. I’m proud of the Justin Allgaier Motorsports team. We raced our way to the front and were able to bounce back from some misfortune in the second half to still produce a solid finish. We’ll take this momentum and move on to Pocono Raceway, a race that I’m definitely looking forward to.”

Brent added, “the run was also very healthy for our points run. With good finishes, the points will add up and we’ll move up the ladder. When we’ve avoided the mechanical gremlins, we’ve finished inside the top-10. That just tells you how strong this team really is.”

In other team news, Brent received some great relief concerning his sponsor, Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep who will remain a franchisee of Chrysler after the automaker emerges from bankruptcy protection.

“I’m thankful that our sponsor is in good shape with Chrysler,” sounded Brent. “Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep has been an instrumental dealership in Michigan for a long time and a lot of people are relieved to know that they will be around for a long time to come.”

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is the first of two trips to Pocono Raceway for the running of the Pocono ARCA 200 on Saturday, June 6. The event is the seventh of 22 races on the 2009 ARCA schedule.

Prior to joining Justin Allgaier Motorsports, Brent participated in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski and Brad Keselowski Racing. In his 22 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired two top-five finishes and eight top-10 efforts. Brent notched his career best qualifying effort of second at Kentucky Speedway last year. He has led the ARCA RE/MAX Series pack twice for 21 laps in 2008. His best finish in the NCWTS occurred at Nashville Superspeedway in his inaugural truck debut where he finished 21st after qualifying 26th.

Newton, Iowa (May 19, 2009): Fadden Racing’s Jonathan Smith was involved in an early race accident that resulted in a 30th place finish in the Long John Silver’s 200 at Iowa Speedway Sunday evening. The team was forced to pit during green flag conditions after they discovered the opening for the radiator had been blocked by the damage.

“The nose got knocked down and because the opening to the radiator was blocked the car started to overheat,” explained crew chief Harry Norcross. “We didn’t discover the issue until we had gone back to green.”

The weekend started on a high note when Smith, who was the first car to take to the track after a brief rain shower, turned a lap of 24.060 seconds (130.923 mph) in qualifying for a 16th place starting position.

“We gained a tenth of a second from practice times so we were really confident heading into this race,” said team owner and two time NASCAR Camping World Series East Champion Mike Olsen.

Smith allowed the field to get singled out in the early laps, but was advancing through the field when he tangled with the No. 27 car at lap 29.

“I was in a pack of about eight cars when everybody just checked up,” Smith explained. “The hood was a little tore up and the grill was knocked down, but we thought we were good.”

When the field went back to green flag conditions at lap 38, Smith radioed in that the car was running too hot. They had no other choice but to come down pit road where they lost three laps. Smith went back out, and was running speeds as fast as the top-15, but few cautions allowed him to be in a position to regain any of the lost ground.

“We had a good car, but fortunes were not on our side today,” Smith said. “We’ll get it next time.”

May 18th 2009, Wausau, WI – Saturday night Chris Wimmer got to do something he had yet to do in the ASA Midwest Tour, pull his #52 Chevy in to victory lane. With over 22,000 people in the stands at Iowa Speedway, Wimmer made a late charge to take the checkered flag in the Pride of Iowa 100. “It was just so exciting,” says Wimmer, “I had a pretty good season last year but never got that win, it just feels so good to win one, especially at Iowa, it’s one of the biggest races we have, so to win it is amazing.”

Wimmer had a good car all day, he practiced in the top ten and qualified 11th. That’s where the #52 Chevy began the Pride of Iowa 100, but quickly Wimmer worked his way towards the front. By the break at lap 60 Wimmer had moved his way up in to the fifth position. “The car was pretty good at that point,” says Wimmer, “We made a few minor adjustments at the break. I wasn’t sure if I would have anything for the leaders, but I was going to try.”

Less than five laps after the restart Wimmer worked his way in to the third position and set his sights on the leaders. With less than 20 laps to go Tim Schendel and Jonathan Eilen began to race side by side for the lead. Though Wimmer was almost a straightaway behind them at that point, their hard racing allowed him to close the gap. “I saw how hard they were racing each other,” says Wimmer, “I thought maybe they would wear their stuff out and before I knew it I was closing in on them.”

With three laps to go Wimmer closed the gap entirely and made his move. Coming out of turn four he dove between both Schendel and Eilen, making it three wide, and passing them both for the lead. “I got a really good run off the corner,” says Wimmer, “I knew I just had to go for it, so I made a move down low and was able to clear them both.”

From there Wimmer held on for the final laps to take the checkered flag and capture his first ever ASA Midwest Tour win. As he climbed out of the car in victory lane Wimmer was doused in champaign and did the “hat dance”. “I’ve been waiting for this one for awhile,” says Wimmer, “The guys I have helping me are awesome. I think everyone was a little dejected after Madison, when we got wrecked on the second lap. We all worked so hard getting this car back together and to come here and win, at one of the biggest and fastest tracks we race on, is awesome.”

Wimmer would like to thank his sponsors who helped make this possible. They include: FlipSide Graphics, Hallman-Lindsay, Swift Spring, R2C Performance Products, 51sports, AutoMeter, OPTIMA Battery, Vanderkoy Bro’s Drywall, Joe Kleiber Construction, Pergolski Elecrtic, and Wimmer Suspension.

Wimmer Racing continues to seek primary sponsorship for the rest of the season. If you have any interest or would like to inquire about other media opportunities, please contact Jana Jurkovich at (612) 819-4564 or jjurkovich@gmail.com

Next up for Wimmer will be the ASAMT race Saturday, May 23rd at Elko Speedway in Elko, MN

TOLEDO, Ohio (5-19-09)— Michel Disdier came to Toledo Speedway with the hopes of putting more short track racing experience under his belt. And that he did with a 19th place finish on ARCA’s hometown short track at the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care on Sunday May 17th.

Once again, the Nice, France native was welcomed with open arms by the fans at the Toledo Speedway. “I am pleased with the people that remembered me from the last Toledo race that I raced in and returned to support me at this race!” said Disdier. “I am very thankful for all the people that stand behind me.”

Unfortunately, the Menards Pole Qualifying was canceled due to intermittent rain showers in the area on Saturday. The starting grid for Sunday’s race was set by current ARCA RE/MAX Series car owner points. After rolling off at the end of the field at 33rd position, Disdier finished with a 19th place finish at Toledo Speedway.

“I was very disappointed that qualifying was canceled!” said Disdier. “Especially at short tracks, track position is very important. I was looking forward to improving my practice time to start closer to the front.”

With the 2009 season bringing thrilling action and fierce competition to the ARCA RE/MAX Series, the Toledo race was no exception. Disdier managed to avoid many wrecks and bring the Ford Taurus Bowsher Motorsports No. 21 to the finish line with a pretty clean race car and a respectable 19th place finish.

“We kept our nose clean the whole race and we gained valuable experience this weekend,” said Todd Bowsher, team manager, spotter and mentor. “We will use this experience to benefit us when we return to Toledo Speedway in September.”

The next event for Michel Disdier and the Bowsher Motorsports team will be the Racing for Wildlife 200 at Michigan International Speedway Friday, June 12.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to Charlotte. It is nice being locked in since there is always a strong field there. We had a pretty decent run going at Texas until the axle broke and we’re taking the same car, so hopefully we will continue to make gains like we were the few weeks before Darlington. We’re due for a good finish and maybe we’ll get back some of the points for RHR we’ve lost recently.”
