RAYBESTOS® ROOKIE CONTENDER QUOTES FOR THE KROGER 200 NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES RACE AT MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY, OCTOBER 23, 2010
JUSTIN LOFTON IN THE No. 7 VISITPIT.COM TOYOTA WAS THE RAYBESTOS ROOKIE OF THE RACE TODAY AT MARTINSVILLE.
NOTES:
LOFTON: “Everyone on the No. 7 VisitPit.com Toyota did a great job all day. We unloaded and we weren’t the best truck and we weren’t the best truck today. Typical Martinsville racing, we got into some scuffles. We probably should have came out of here about eighth or ninth and we got caught up with the 13 truck [Johnny Sauter] when he was trying to pit. It’s short track tracing, it’s Martinsville, it was fun. Real proud of everyone and just thank Red Horse Racing for giving me the opportunity to come out here and we’ll go get ‘em next week in Talladega.”
COMMENT ON THE ACCIDENT WITH SAUTER. “He had been black flagged and he’d been running around there for three laps and I was trying to get around him and if he was really trying to do it he would have moved over in one and let me by. It was a little exciting and it was just one of those accidents. I didn’t mean to do it and I probably screwed up my day worse than it screwed up his. He shouldn’t be mad about that. I love short track racing and Martinsville is probably the most notorious short track race for beating and banging. As you can see by my truck we had our fair share. Mark [Rette, crew chief] and everyone on the crew put an awesome set up in it. I just come out here and do what I’m supposed to do and get this thing up front.”
WERE YOU SURPRISED KEVIN HARVICK TAPPED YOU UNDER CAUTION? “I kind of knew it was coming but you know what, just because you’re a Cup driver doesn’t mean that you get any special opportunities out here or anything. It was one of those things I just got off the 13 truck and I was all squirrely and he was just there. It was just the circumstance that he put himself in and it’s his own fault.”
WHAT HAPPENED WITH SAUTER? “I guess he was trying to pit. Three laps before that he wasn’t trying to pit and he ran me down in both the corners. It would have been nice if his spotter would have ran over and said they’re coming in this lap or something but you know what, his day was ruined and it just ruined mine for him getting in my way.” ”
AUSTIN DILLON, No. 3 BASS PRO SHOPS/TRACKER BOATS/REMINGTON CHEVROLET: “It’s an okay day. We just got behind there early and struggled passing trucks. It’s just tough to pass here and you need the track position. I think we had a way better truck than where we finished. We got pinched up there when the 17 [Timothy Peters] had the flat. Just kind of a long day but we’ll go to Talladega and have some fun. We’ll be fine in the points I think and just keep on digging.”
WHAT HAPPENED WHEN YOU AND TIMOTHY PETERS GOT TOGETHER? “I think he had a flat when he got hit by the 23 [Jason White]. The 23 knocked him out of the groove and I was just coming with everybody else. When he came down it hit and we pitched three-wide with the 60 [Stacy Compton]. It was an alright day all in all for the Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet. We’ll take it and move on.”
