Safety-Kleen, a NASCAR official partner since 2004, provides on-site trackside support with its NASCAR performance cleaning products and through its oil recycling and re-refining services to more than 200 NASCAR-sanctioned races a year, ensuring that all cleaning solvents, oil, fluids and lubricants used in NASCAR racing are recaptured and re-used.
Safety-Kleen is also an “Official Partner of NASCAR Green,” a category of sponsors that contribute in a substantial and measurable way to the sport’s goals around environmental conservation and serve as a green demonstration platform while creating jobs. Other sponsors in this category include Coca-Cola, Coors Light and American Ethanol led by Growth Energy.
Since 1987, Safety-Kleen has been at NASCAR racetracks collecting used oil. Last year, it was estimated the company collected and re-refined 185,000 gallons of NASCAR oil at tracks and team shops. Overall, the company services more than 145 professional race teams and 65 tracks across North America.
“Of all the partnership programs Safety-Kleen is involved in, NASCAR is by far one of the most successful,” said Eric Zimmer, executive vice president of sales and service for Safety-Kleen. “We are excited to continue this relationship with NASCAR, and proud to help lead the way as the sport continues to make significant inroads in going green.”
“Safety-Kleen is a great example of a NASCAR partner that is doing good through helping the environment,” said Jim O’Connell, chief sales officer and vice president of corporate marketing for NASCAR. “Everyone in the NASCAR community owes Safety-Kleen a debt of gratitude for helping to keep our sport Green.”
Beyond NASCAR, Safety-Kleen is the largest collector and re-refiner of used oil in North America. The company collects more than 200 million gallons of used oil each year, and through its recycling programs, produces approximately 140 million gallons of high-quality lubricating oil. Safety-Kleen’s services include oil collection and re-refining, as well as the management and proper disposal of spent brake fluids, oil filters, coolant, and cleaning solvents. The company also provides absorbent products used for cleaning fluid spills inside NASCAR garages and supplies NASCAR with industry-leading parts-cleaning equipment.
