The 18 year-old from Bakersfield, California will be behind the wheel of the No.15 JDRF– Venturini Motorsports race car for the ARCA Racing Series Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona. Ryan and his team are also excited to announce support from Advance Auto Parts for Ryan’s superspeedway debut.

“Racing at Daytona is a dream-come true,” said Reed. “Since I was a kid I dreamed of the day I would have the opportunity to compete on the historic track. And then to go to the test with Venturini Motorsports in December and be at the top of the charts on the first day was unreal!”

Reed was diagnosed with T1D exactly one year ago – February 2011.

His untimely diagnosis changed his life forever and threatened his promising racing career. After being told his racing career was over, Reed made a decision not to allow T1D to dictate his legacy behind the wheel.

Ryan Reed

Armed with the passion and determination to fulfill his dreams, Reed shifted his focus and poured all his energy into managing his health and educating himself on the disease.

Reed’s tenacity and ‘never quit’ attitude has allowed him the good fortune to return to the race car and use his racing platform and personal story to inspire others living with T1D to continue living life to its fullest.

Reed’s off-track goodwill has made him a National Celebrity Advocate of JDRF, the world’s largest funder of research toward curing, treating and preventing T1D and its complications.

Ryan's Mission (Ryan Reed)

“JDRF has an amazing group of people that are involved in the organization. We’ve been working with them locally, and on a national level more recently. I feel like part of the family whenever we do events together,” said Ryan. “I just feel so fortunate that I can inspire others and create such a positive atmosphere after being diagnosed with a life-long disease.”

Today, Reed is only one of three professional race car drivers in the world to compete at the highest levels of racing with T1D. Indy Racing League driver, Charlie Kimball was diagnosed with T1D in 2007. The two drivers not only share the same circumstances but also share the same doctor, Dr. Anne Peters, MD of USC Clinical Diabetes Program in California.

Reed’s partnership with JDRF will be prominently on display when his JDRF themed racecar is unveiled next week when the ARCA Racing Series returns to Daytona.

To commemorate this historic moment, Reed teamed up with NASCAR’s first officially licensed artist and design icon, Sam Bass to create the paint scheme for Reed’s JDRF car.

Although Bass has designed hundreds of paint schemes for many of today’s NASCAR superstars, the JDRF project with Ryan Reed has a very personal meaning to the motorsports artist.

Like Reed, Sam Bass is also living with T1D. He was diagnosed in 1992.

Bass used this opportunity and his heart to design a show piece and leave his personal imprint on this project to help create more awareness to JDRF and the millions of people affected by this life-long disease.

“I am thrilled to be working with such a talented, young, up and coming driver as Ryan Reed,” said Sam Bass. “His partnership with JDRF has a tremendously special meaning to me, as I also have type 1 diabetes, and have dealt with the disease all of my life. I can relate first hand to the goals and initiatives JDRF has set to help people living with diabetes, and to find a cure. JDRF does very impactful work, and I am extremely proud to assist them in their marketing efforts with the Venturini Motorsports Team and Ryan.”

While November is the official National Diabetes Awareness Month on a worldwide initiative, February marks a significant month for diabetes in Ryan’s life.

Ryan was diagnosed with T1D in February 2011 and 1-year later he will be running the JDRF painted racecar for the first time at Daytona International Speedway in honor of everyone that is affected by T1D.

Practice for the season-opening race starts on Thursday, February 16, while qualifying is Friday, February 17 at 2pm. The race, scheduled to be televised live by SPEED-TV, is Saturday, February 18 at 4:30pm ET.

Poole, hoping to chase down his next championship, will drive the team’s flagship No. 25 Adcetera / Venturini Motorsports Chevrolet in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season-opening Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway. The 20 year-old driver will make his Daytona International Speedway debut with Venturini Motorsports (VMS), with Billy Venturini as the team’s crew chief.

“Brennan has been impressive every time he’s been in the seat for VMS,” Venturini said. “He tested well in December and has been preparing for this race the entire off-season. I think he’s got a great shot, and we expect him to shine at Daytona.”

In just four selected ARCA Series starts with Venturini Motorsports, the Woodlands, Texas, native has captured a series victory (Salem Speedway) and a pole award (Pocono Raceway) and has led laps in all but one of his series starts.

Brennan Poole

“We’ve had a lot of success at every step, but to race for a storied team like Venturini Motorsports, especially at Daytona, certainly is the highlight,” Poole said. “The Venturinis have high standards and very high expectations every time they go to Daytona. It’s my job not to let them down.”

Nicknamed “The Bull,” Poole was the 2002 Quarter Midget Grand National Champion, and he followed that up by winning 42 of 61 Pro National Legends races and the national race of champions feature in 2006. He also was the 2009 UARA-STARS Rookie of the Year and 2011 UARA-STARS Champion. He has won 10 times in the past two UARA-STARS seasons.

Poole’s car will be painted in a retro color scheme originally used by Billy Venturini during his 10-year driving career.

Practice for the season-opening race starts on Thursday, Feb. 16, while qualifying is Friday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. The race, scheduled to be televised live by SPEED-TV, is Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET.

“The ARCA racing series gives me the best opportunity to make the transition into stock car racing and prepare me for NASCAR Tucks or Nationwide racing in the future. Venturini’s reputation and the success they’ve had working with many drivers was a major factor in my decision to join the team and the series,” says Canache.

Canache, a native of Caracas, Venezuela is a standout driver on the international stage and is ready to take the next big step in his professional racing career under the guidance of VMS’s competition director, Billy Venturini.

“It’s an honor to represent my country and build more awareness to US stock car racing. I feel I have the support of everyone back home and look forward to making them proud,” added Canache.

“It’s going to be a challenge but working with the best team gives me the confidence I need to succeed at this level and prepare myself for the future. I have limited oval racing experience; every week will be a challenge and test me physically and mentally. Driving for Venturini gives me the best chance to learn and show people here in the states my skills.”

Canache, who spent his 2011 season competing in the Seat Leon Super Cup in Mexico and the NASCAR Whelen All American Series under the Lee Faulk Racing banner, is now looking to bolster his racing resume and pursue the highest ranks of American stock car racing.

“There’s no question ARCA and NASCAR has attracted world class talent to our sport. Nelson has proven himself as an international driver and comes to our team with tremendous talent and determination to succeed at this level in a relatively unknown series. He’s a true professional and student of his craft; he’s eager to learn and unwilling to fall back on past accomplishments,” says Billy Venturini. I expect him to fit into our program well and compete strongly against his competition.

Canache will drive full time for Venturini; competing in all 20 events listed on ARCA’s 60th Anniversary Season schedule, making his ARCA debut on February 18th at Daytona International Speedway.

ARCA, considered the most diverse racing series on the planet, is the only touring series to include a variety of style race tracks to test the skills and preparation of both drivers and teams competing. ARCA’s schedule showcases a mix of speedway (1.5 mile+), short track (1 mile or less), dirt track and road course events to determine a national champion.

Canache, who participated in a Chevrolet – Venturini Motorsports prepared car left a solid impression after three days of ARCA Racing Series testing at the famed Daytona International Speedway. Canache finished the weekend with a fast time of 48.212 seconds (186.676 mph), securing the 7th fastest lap time (out of 53 drivers) of the entire weekend test session.

Venturini Motorsports unloaded 5 cars in all during the December test and posted the top speed overall with Alex Bowman’s 188.336 mph lap. Venturini cars finished the weekend test session with all 5 cars inside the top-7 positions.

In addition to running the ARCA series, Canache will make his first ever Rolex 24 at Daytona behind the wheel of the No.51 APR Motorsports Audi R8 Grand-Am for this year’s 24 hour classic. Canache will join teammates, including ‘Endurance Race’ icon, Emanuele Pirro, Dion Von Moltke, Ian Baas and Dr. Jim Norman.

Canache will also join Ian Baas in the No.41 APR Tuned Audi S4 in the Grand-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge GS class leading up to the Rolex 24.

Canache will make his ARCA Racing debut with an added sense of national pride, when the series returns to Daytona International Speedway on February 18th for the season opening event, driving the No.35 Venturini prepared – Venezuela sponsored Chevrolet. The event will be televised live on SPEED Channel starting at 4:30 EST. Check your local times and listings for broadcast information.

International flair nothing new to Venturini Motorsports as the team’s on-track success has attracted drivers from all over the globe. In 2011 the team featured a total of 21 different drivers including four import drivers; Steve Arpin (Canada), Miguel Paludo (Brazil), George Meideke (Australia) and Ali Jackson (Ireland). Arpin and Paludo are both competing in the ranks of NASCAR in 2012.

Ryan Reed, originally from Bakersfield, CA moved across the country by himself at the age of 17 to Mooresville, NC in order to surround himself with the racing community.

In February 2011, Ryan was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as he was preparing his move to North Carolina but he didn’t let that slow him down. The aspiring young NASCAR driver completed his move to North Carolina to pursue his driving career professionally.

What makes this year so remarkable is the veteran ARCA team has been able to showcase its strength using an unprecedented 21 different drivers while fielding multiple cars in each of the first 17 ARCA events. With two races remaining in the ARCA season, Venturini has earned (6) Menards pole position awards, (2) victories, (10) top-5 finishes and (18) top-10 finishes.

Entering the final speedway race of the year Venturini will field 5 teams in Friday night’s ARCA Racing Series Kansas Lottery 98.9 event at Kansas Speedway. Returning to competition under the Venturini banner will be Scott Lagasse Jr., Max Gresham, Alex Bowman, John Blankenship and Tom Berte.

Scott Lagasse, Jr., who won the 2007 ARCA race at Kansas and the 2008 race at Chicago with Venturini Motorsports, will be in the No.20 car. Lagasse topped the charts during last month’s open test at Kansas Speedway with the best overall time of 31.837 seconds/169.614 mph. Lagasse last drove for Venturini during the spring Talladega race and finished 8th.

Newly crowned NASCAR K&N East Series champion, Max Gresham, will start in the No.25 car. Gresham has been solid running a limited ARCA schedule with Venturini, earning a pole position at Pocono and a season high second place finish at Michigan.

Alex Bowman, this year’s NASCAR K&N East Series Rookie of the Year will pilot the No.55 car for Venturini at Kansas. Bowman won earlier this year at Madison Int’l Speedway in his Venturini/ARCA Series debut.

Dirt late model driver, John Blankenship, will make his third series start for Venturini in the No.15 machine. Blankenship claimed a top-10 finish in June at Winchester Speedway in his first ever pavement race and series start.

Sixty-Eight year old Tom Berte will make his final appearance of the 2011 ARCA Season in the No.35 car. Berte has competed in the ARCA Series on a limited basis for the last 8 years and is enjoying his most successful season on the circuit.

Venturini Motorsports qualified 1-2 at last year’s Kansas race with Mikey Kile and Steve Arpin. Kile captured pole position and finished 4th while Arpin started and finished 2nd to Ty Dillon.

Practice on Kansas Speedway’s 1.5-mile oval will begin at 9 a.m. Central (10 Eastern) on October 7; the session will last for two hours and 15 minutes. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell will start at 5:35 p.m. Central, and the race will begin at 7:30 p.m. Central. State Fairgrounds and Salem (Ind.) Speedway respectively hampered the efforts of a potential win, Tom Hessert III and his Ken Schrader Racing (KSR) team are prepared to leave their bad luck in the rearview mirror and deliver a strong outing in Friday night’s Kansas Lottery 98.9 at Kansas Speedway.

Hessert III, driver of the No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Impala for Ken Schrader Racing recently participated in an open-test session at the 1.5-mile oval hoping to give his team an added boost towards the 18th race of the season.

Through the eight-hour test session, Hessert guided his Ken Schrader-owned automobile to the ninth quickest lap around the facility in a time of 32.608 seconds or 165.604 miles per hour, less than a second off the quickest effort posted by Scott Lagasse Jr.

In order to give the KSR organization a shot at their first win of the season, the team has vigorously been working on the No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Impala looking not only for a path to victory lane but also an opportunity to return Hessert back to the top-10 on the grounds of Kansas Speedway.

Last October, Hessert started 17th before blasting to a respectable sixth place run which mathematically left the Cherry Hill, New Jersey native in the hunt for the 2010 ARCA championship.

“I feel Kansas is a great place to put our No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet Impala back on the right path,” offered Hessert, a former competitor in the USARacing Pro Cup Series. “The test went pretty good. We worked on the car pretty hard throughout the day. Kansas is a very sensitive track so while horsepower is important there, so is handling. I’m looking forward to seeing how the changes will help our car and if we can’t learn a thing or two during practice on Friday.”

Another component that Hessert dwelled upon for Friday night’s dash is the distance of the event. “It’s a short race. 99 laps can go by fast, especially if you get behind early,” he explained. “You can’t afford to have any mistakes and if you do – you hope you can recover from them quickly. More than likely, it’s going to be a two-stop race as far as fuel as tires are concerned. I think you’ll see some strategy come into play and that could be the winning piece to the puzzle. It will definitely be interesting to see how the race unfolds.”

Beginning with Friday night’s Kansas Lottery 98.9, Hessert and his No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet will boast a pink paint scheme in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness which is promoted through the month of October. The KSR team will also hoist the identical paint scheme in the season finale, the Toledo ARCA 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway on Sunday, October 16.

Tom Hessert III

“I’m a big supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness,” sounded Hessert. “It’s a big deal at KSR and I’m honored to be a part of the campaign to help spread the word and encourage men and women to get tested. Real men wear and sport pink. Who knows it might be the medicine to lift our spirit around the garage and on the track.”

In conjunction with the Federated Auto Parts special paint schemes, R&R Enterprises has produced an exclusive line of merchandise to support the team’s campaign. Schrader’s wife, Ann, will be participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Charlotte, N.C., on October 22 and 23, in honor of two longtime friends, Lisa Meloni and Laura Jones, who have lost their battle with cancer.

KSR, Inc., its partners, and fans will donate to Mrs. Schrader’s Avon Walk for Breast Cancer fundraising goal through the sale of the “pink” campaign merchandise, which will be offered for a limited time. Direct donations may be made to Mrs. Schrader’s fundraising efforts at http://hop.to/legsforlisa.

“The tee-shirt is really cool looking, it turned out really nice,” continued Hessert. “I encourage not only my fans but also race fans in general to log onto the team’s website and order some merchandise for a really great cause.”

With just two races remaining on the circuit, Hessert occupies the seventh position in the championship standings and within an arm’s reach of fifth. A good run on Friday night would help propel the team towards making up part of that deficit.

“It’s been a competitive season this year and we’re a lot better than seventh,” added Hessert. “We’ve had some really strong runs but some bad runs have kept us from taking a stab at the championship. Hopefully we can have two good showings at Kansas and Toledo and see where the points fall into place and maybe, we’ll inch our way up the ladder.”

The Kansas Lottery 98.9 (99 laps / 148.5 miles) is the 18th of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 11th ARCA event held at Kansas Speedway is a one-day show. Practice begins Friday, October 7 with a two hour and 15 minute practice session planned from 9:00 a.m. -11:15 a.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin later in the day at 5:35 p.m. The field will take the green flag approximately two hours later at 7:30 p.m. The event will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring throughout the 1,330th race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com. All times are local.

In addition to Federated Auto Parts, Cherry Hill Classic Cars will serve as an associate marketing partner for Hessert’s 82nd career ARCA start. In his previous 81 outings, he has maneuvered one win, 18 top-fives and 42 top-10s.

With a racing legacy that dates back to the 1950s, the Venturini’s cut their teeth in racing in-and-around the Chicagoland area for nearly 40 years prior to relocating their race operations to the Charlotte area during the early 1990’s.

Three generations of Venturini’s, consisting of Grandfather Tony Venturini, and current team owners Bill Sr. and Billy Venturini, all took their turn behind the wheel of the family’s famed No.25 racecar. Over the years the trio of drivers achieved numerous racing accolades cementing their place in racing history. However, with all their success they’ve never forgotten their racing roots – Chicago, making a win at this weekend’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards – Messina Wildlife Stopper 150 at Chicagoland Speedway that much more meaningful.

“I’m really excited about our chances at Chicago this year,” said Billy Venturini, Venturini Motorsports GM. “We showed up with an ultra-competitive fleet of cars at the test. Our goal is to end up in victory lane! It is always fun coming home and being a fan favorite.”

Chicagoland Speedway has yielded success for the Venturini’s over the years as they went to victory lane in 2008 with Scott Lagasse Jr. and captured a 2nd place finish in last year’s ARCA event with Steve Arpin behind the wheel. Arpin recently signed with Turner Motorsports in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and will be making his debut in the
No. 32 Mike’s Hard Lemonade Chevrolet Silverado starting at Texas Motor Speedway on June 10th.

After finishing second last week with driver George Miedecke at New Jersey Motorsports Park, the Chicago natives bring momentum and a fleet of competitive cars back to the windy city in search of another hometown victory.

Venturini Motorsports has entered four teams in this year’s Chicago event.

Piloting the No. 15 Lauren Briant / Venturini Motorsports Chevrolet this week is 18 year-old Kyle Fowler. The Rookie of the Year candidate has two previous starts this season with Venturini Motorsports; Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. Despite qualifying on the outside pole at both events, his best finish is 16th.

Venturini Motorsports returns to Chicago with high expectations after a competitive test session last month on the 1.5 mile-oval. During that test session Venturini driver, Hal Martin topped the morning session, giving the Louisiana native added confidence as he gets ready to make his third start of the ARCA season for Venturini Motorsports.

Driving the No. 55 NOLA Motorsports Park Toyota entry for Venturini, Martin is no stranger to the ARCA Racing Series or Chicagoland Speedway. Affectionately known as the ‘Ragin Cajun’, Martin finished with an impressive career best 3rd place effort at Chicagoland Speedway in 2009.

Driving Venturini Motorsport’s third entry is the 2009 & 2010 World of Outlaws Late Model Series Champion, Josh Richards. Richards will be behind the wheel of the No. 25 Kentucky Fuel / Texas Coral Toyota. Chicagoland Speedway marks the first ARCA race of the season for Richards, who has three previous starts with Venturini Motorsports. While Richards didn’t take part in last month’s Chicagoland test session, he recently turned laps at Michigan International Speedway in preparation for The Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 150.

Josh Richards recently signed with Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) and will compete in select NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events in 2011. The 23-year old Richards will make his NASCAR Truck Series debut at Kentucky Speedway in a KBM Toyota Tundra on July 7th.

Race coverage for The Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 150 will begin on Saturday, June 4 at 6:00 PM ET live on SPEED. Follow the team on Twitter @venturinimotor for live updates. Additional race coverage, including live timing, scoring and radio broadcast, can be viewed through the ARCA Racing Network at arcaracing.com.

(February 7, 2011) – The 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will be joined by talented 19 year-old rookie Joey Licata, Jr. driving for Cunningham Motorsports.

Licata, a member of the Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle driver development program, won back-to-back championship in the ASA TRUCK SERIES and also won his first career NASCAR Modified race in 2010. Licata also made several starts for Tim Huddleston’s High Point Racing at TOYOTA Speedway in a NASCAR Late Model.

With crew chief Jonathan Davis at the helm, the Kerry Sherer-owned Cunningham Motorsports should be a threat right out of the box at Daytona. Cunningham Motorsports is most notably known for its success in 2009 with Penske Development Driver Parker Kligerman, who finished second in the standings with nine victories as a rookie.

A litany of talented drivers has competed for the team over the years, including Josh Wise, Kevin Swindell, Scott Lagasse, Jr., and more.

Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle is a NASCAR-oriented driver development program that works with an international roster of talented drivers who have the commitment and potential to succeed in NASCAR racing.

The success Licata enjoyed throughout 2010 on the West Coast earned him the opportunity to test with Cunningham Motorsports last fall. Licata impressed team representatives in the testing session and was offered the chance to drive for Cunningham in 2011.

Licata made his official ARCA Racing Series debut at Rockingham Speedway, where he practiced in the top-three all day for Tony Marks Racing before a practice crash ended his weekend early.

Poised to make a big impact this season, Licata came out of the gate with a huge performance in the Daytona testing in January. Although it was his first experience on the freshly repaved Daytona International Speedway, Licata ran sixth overall for the week out of nearly 60 competitors that participated. His best speed was 185.670 miles per hour.

Licata is looking forward to competing in the “Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200” at Daytona, which will be live on SPEED on February 12.

“Winning the race isn’t that far fetched on this one with all the updates we have made since the test,” Licata said. “It’s a privilege to be racing for Cunningham Motorsports and a big step in my career.”

Licata will be the first driver from Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle to compete in the ARCA Racing Series

“I truly feel that Joey has earned this opportunity and has the skills to make the most of it,” Driver Coach Ron Sutton said. “Joey has the talent to race with the best of them and is very prepared to succeed in ARCA and beyond!”

Joey Licata, Jr. Racing and Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle thank partners: K&N Filters, Scribner Plastics, Allstar Performance, Sunoco Race Fuels, and Star Racing Supply. Licata would also like to thank supporters Jordan Kidushim and Luke Forstmann.

The Gulf Coast native has signed with legendary Venturini Motorsports and its championship team to run select races in 2011 – beginning with the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway. Martin, one of only a handful of college graduates in stock car racing – as a mechanical engineering graduate from the University of New Orleans – was also a top-10 finisher at the 2010 ARCA race in Talladega for Venturini Motorsports. Martin will begin his 2011 season piloting a Venturini Motorsports Toyota at the newly-repaved 2.5-mile superspeedway for three days of ARCA Series open testing today through Thursday.

“I’m really looking forward to hitting the track again at Daytona,” Martin said. “I had a bit of a head start on the field by being able to participate in the Hoosier Tire Test here in December for Venturini Motorsports – so I feel I had a good chance to get somewhat acclimated to the track with some laps logged. Any seat time is fantastic, so I’m ready to jump back in for not only three more days of testing, but also a solid year with several starts. We’re in this for solid finishes for a championship team.”

Tom Venturini, Public Relations Director at Venturini Motorsports, is optimistic about Martin’s potential in the Venturini stable in 2011. “We’ve got strong talent among all of our drivers, and our reputation stands behind the equipment and support we’re able to provide each and every one of them. Hal has proven his talent for our organization in the past, as well as on the gulf coast late model tracks. We’re really excited to see how he’ll perform this season. He has tremendous talent. We’re hopeful he will not only add more top 10s to that resume, but also top 5s and maybe even a trip to Victory Lane.”

Despite the fact that Martin did not get behind the wheel of his first car until he was 15 years old, his success came at early with the Louisiana State Shifter Kart Championship in 2004. After completing several successful prestigious driving programs, Martin also went on to become the Mobile International Speedway Track Champion in the Pro Late Model Division in 2007. He was also crowned Louisiana State Champion in 2007 by Late Model Digest and took two more wins at gulf coast tracks in 2008.

“In 2009 and 2010, I was able to get a good variety in my driving and also get experience at different tracks,” Martin continued. “When the call came to race Talladega for the Venturinis, I jumped at the chance. It’s the opportunity that every driver wants – to be able to showcase his or her driving skills with a championship organization. We’re actively working on securing marketing partners for additional racetracks. I know we’re going to continue this momentum in 2011 together, and I’m ready to go get some great results for such a respected team.”

Martin plans to make five official starts with Venturini Motorsports in 2011 – to include Daytona, Talladega, Chicagoland, Pocono and Michigan. He joins teammates Firestone Indy Lights driver Alastair Jackson, Joe Gibbs Racing development driver Max Gresham and USAC Champion Darren Hagan in an impressive rookie class of 2011 for Venturini Motorsports.

No secret to racing insiders, Darren has already attracted the attention of many top NASCAR teams. Achieving high levels of success throughout his career, Hagen now turns to Venturini Motorsports for further development and the platform to showcase his talent and put him in position to achieve his professional goals.

The 2011 season will be a transition year for Darren as he’s currently slated to run in selective 2011 ARCA Racing Series events. Hagen and Venturini Motorsports are working diligently to secure primary sponsorship in order to maximize his exposure during the upcoming season and beyond. Although Darren’s focus is to compete full-time in the ARCA Racing Series, he will continue his USAC efforts until the right opportunity to advance presents itself.

“Darren possesses all the tangibles to become a great race car driver. I don’t think anyone can deny his racing ability. It’s his determination and character on and off the track that makes him standout. We’re excited to have him join our organization,” says, General Manager Billy Venturini.

Darren Hagen began his driving career with Go-Karts at the age of 11. By the time he finished his third season, he had won more than 90 races including the So Cal Championship, two Tri C Championships and the California Junior State Championship in Junior Sportsman and Super Box. In 2005 he made USAC history by becoming the first driver ever to be awarded “Rookie of the Year” for both Sprint and Midget racing in the same season. In 2006, Darren won the “Hut Hundred” National Midget Car race at Terre Haute and officially became “The Fastest Sprint Car Driver in the World” (2006-2010) by running a lap of 146.145 mph at Iowa Speedway – Darren held the prestigious title for 4 years.

Collecting more hardware along the way, Hagen won the 2010 USAC National Midget Car Series Pavement Championship, feature winner at Toledo in the USAC National Midget Car Series, won the POWRi National Midget Series at Belle-Clair Speedway, swept the Gold Crown Midget Nationals at Tri-City (highest paid midget race of 2010) and won his Preliminary Night feature at the 2010 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals.

Focusing on his faith and determination, Darren has set records and compiled an impressive list of racing accomplishments. But what is most refreshing about this 24-year-old from Riverside, California is his humility and good nature. He sees himself as part of a team and competes to win, not just for himself, but for his crew and his family. While he dreams of someday driving in the Sprint Cup Series, he knows his goal cannot be achieved without hard work and dedication in his daily life both on and off the track. He strives to lead his life in a way that any team or marketing partner would be proud to be represented by him.

Venturini Motorsports, fielding cars in the ARCA Racing Series, is one of the premier NASCAR Driver Development Programs in the country. Since 2007, Venturini Motorsports has assisted in the career development of notable NASCAR drivers Joey Logano, Justin Allgaier, Scott Lagasse Jr., Brian Scott, John Wes Townley, Marc Davis, Steve Arpin and Mikey Kile.
ALEX KENNEDY ON PHOENIX INT’L RACEWAY

“I’m looking forward to this weekend’s race at Phoenix. It’s not too far of a drive from New Mexico, so I have a lot of friends and family that will be at the race. I’ve never been on the track before, so I’ll use the first practice to get comfortable with the feel of the car and how the track drives. Everyone I have talked to says that it is a very difficult track, so I plan to talk to some of the drivers I know in the garage to see if they have any pointers they can give a rookie. I’m looking forward to putting last week behind me and bringing home a solid finish for Baker Curb Racing in Phoenix!”

CREW CHIEF JOHN REESE ON PHOENIX INT’L RACEWAY

“Phoenix is a track that our team has been very successful at in the past. We finished fifth in the spring race with Greg Biffle in the No. 27 and Scott Lagasse Jr. finished eighth in the No. 43. It is a very unique track, turns 1 and 2 are very tight, turns 3 and 4 are sweeping and the backstretch has a dogleg. You have to run as loose as you possibly can in Turns 1 and 2 to be good in Turns 3 and 4. We look forward to rebounding from a tough weekend at Texas with a good run at Phoenix!”

The Bucyrus 200 presented by Menards is the first national NASCAR racing event at the Wisconsin track since the 1950’s and will be televised live on ESPN 2 at 3:00 p.m. ET Saturday.

“Road America in a Nationwide Series car is a unique opportunity to run at arguably the fastest and most historic road course in North America,” said O’Connell. “We are pleased to be partnering with Baker Curb Racing for this race and presenting Taleo Grill, “The Taste of the Mexican Riviera”, as our sponsor. I had not raced at Road America since my rookie season with the Skip Barber Series but got reacquainted with circuit in May by racing the historic full downforce open wheel car. The seat time was vastly different than I remembered but should be very beneficial for this weekend’s race. This format is different from how we have raced in the past but I believe we have a great combination of people and we’ll have a strong run this weekend!”

The No. 43 team was a late addition to the Baker Cur Racing stable but the group has gelled in recent weeks showing their potential on the track. Lagasse Jr. was fast in practice and qualifying the last two weekends and ran in the top 10 for a majority of last week’s Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway. After running sixth, a faulty jack on two pit stops placed him deep in the field, but he drove his way back into the top 10 late in the race before a low right tire slowed his progress.

“We are very pleased with Scott Jr.’s performance this season, he has been solid and gotten everything out of the car’s that we give him,” said Baker Curb Racing president Matt Crews. “In tough economic times, partnering with O’Connell Racing for this weekend is beneficial for both organizations. Scott Jr. will be back in our cars for additional races this season and we are working hard to secure sponsorship to keep him on the track full-time for the remainder of the season. We look forward to him building upon the momentum he has gained over the last few races and feel that he is on the verge of consistently running in the top 10 every week.”
