DRIVER: Cole Whitt (No. 84 Red Bull Toyota)

EVENT: WYPALL 200 (NASCAR Nationwide Series)

DATES: Saturday, November 13, 2010

TRACK: Phoenix International Raceway, Avondale, Ariz.

RESULTS: Start 23 / Finish 15

DAMN FINE DEBUT

Cole Whitt - Red Bull Racing Team

AVONDALE, Ariz. – The racer in Cole Whitt tells him anything but a win is nothing. The realist in Whitt tells him 15th place in Nationwide Series race No. 1 is an impressive achievement.

“We came here to run top 15, and we ended up 15th. It’s what we wanted,” he said.

A clean run in Saturday’s WYPALL 200 capped off the 19-year-old’s debut in NASCAR’s second-tier series. Whitt’s No. 84 Red Bull Toyota was the fastest in final practice (130.496 mph), and hours before the green flag – with no owner’s points as insurance – he timed his way into the show in 23rd.

He turned heads in the race, too. Slowly, Whitt worked his way into the top 15 by lap 70 and up to as high as 11th by lap 118. The No. 84 pit crew did its part, picking up two spots for the driver on two separate stops (only eight teams spent less total time on pit road).

“We obviously didn’t get the qualifying run we wanted and that made it tough for us to come forward,” Whitt said. “The pit crew was on all day. We really made up some spots on pit road. We made some up on the track, too. We raced with some big names, and I think we learned a lot. And, if I just get some more chances I think I can really run good in the series.”

The race was only Whitt’s 11th in a stock car. He drove the No. 84 in 10 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event this season, finishing fourth in the championship. He made three prior starts at Phoenix – two in a midget and one in a Silver Crown car, which he drove to victory in the 2009 Copper World Classic. He put whatever experience he had to work during a 57-lap green- flag run to close the race.

“I learned a lot lap-by-lap,” he said. “I just kept making mistakes because it was my first time out there. We had a couple of short runs and then the long run at the end that we didn’t expect. Our car just got away from us and I kind of drove it pretty hard and maybe wore out the tires too much.

“It’s a big learning curve. Once I kind of started figuring it out it was time to learn something new. I need seat time to figure it out, but I think I can.”

(November 5, 2009) – Kevin Conway and ExtenZe Racing announced today that they will attempt to run all three NASCAR national series races – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series (# 26 ExtenZe Chevrolet) and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (# 71 ExtenZe Chevrolet) – at Phoenix International Raceway next weekend. The NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup cars will be available for photos on Saturday, November 7th at 7:45 a.m. CST on the frontstretch at Texas Motor Speedway.

Conway has never raced at Phoenix International Raceway, much less competed in NASCAR’s top three divisions in one weekend, but he is set to attempt to qualify for his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Camping World Truck Series debut at the one-mile oval. No driver in NASCAR history has ever attempted this feat.

“I’ve never been accused of doing things normally,” said Conway. “To make my Sprint Cup Series and Camping World Truck Series debut at a track that I have never even seen is pretty ambitious but I am excited to have this opportunity with ExtenZe. For ExtenZe Racing to pull this together in such a short amount of time is nothing short of a miracle. Everyone on this ExtenZe team is pumped to give it our best shot in Phoenix.”

ExtenZe will appear as Conway’s primary sponsor in all three races. Together they will attempt to compete in 850 miles of racing at Phoenix International Raceway.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Lucas Oil 150 will be televised live on Friday, Nov. 13 beginning at 7:30 p.m. EST on SPEED. The NASCAR Nationwide Series Able Body Labor 200 will follow on Saturday, Nov. 14 on ESPN2 at 4:00 EST with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rounding up the weekend with Sunday’s Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 presented by Pennzoil on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 2:30 p.m. EST on ABC.

About Kevin Conway

Conway, a Lynchburg, Va. native, has steadily moved up within the ranks of motorsports from a diverse and successful racing background. He first competed in AMA Motocross at only six years old. His racing career continued on to WKA go-karts, INEX Legend Cars, Super Late Models, ASA, USAC Midgets and Silver Crown, ARCA RE/MAX Series, and the NASCAR Grand National (Camping World) West Series. Conway is currently a NASCAR Nationwide Series regular and, now, is set to make his Camping World Truck and Sprint Cup Series debut.

Heartland and his home state of Iowa as the NASCAR Nationwide Series
competes in its first ever race at Iowa Speedway in the U.S. Cellular 250
presented by Northland Oil and TMC Transportation on Saturday.

While most Nationwide Series drivers will make their first laps around
Iowa Speedway this weekend, Des Moines, Iowa native Annett already holds a
prestigious track record at his home track of Iowa Speedway as the driver
with the most laps of competitive racing there. Growing up just miles from
the Newton, Iowa track, Annett gained experience on the .875 mile tri-oval
competing in ARCA RE/MAX Series as well as ASA Late Model Series Challenge
Division events.

Annett made his debut in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Iowa Speedway in June
2007, where the young driver won the SIM Factory Pole Award, led eight
laps of the 250 lap race, and came home with a third place finish as he
made his first start in the series.

“It’s great to be back here in Iowa. I’ve got a lot of experience on
the track in USAC Silver Crown, ASA Late Model and ARCA RE/MAX Series
races here at Iowa Speedway, and I’m looking forward to representing
Germain Racing and Northland Oil in the No. 15 this weekend,” said
Annett.

In addition to competing in the Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250
presented by Northland Oil and TMC Transportation, Annett will also hit
the track in a Silver Crown car sponsored by U.S. Cellular in the USAC
Silver Crown Challenge on Friday night at 9 p.m. at Iowa Speedway.

Annett has spent his week at home in Iowa making appearances for HYPE
Energy Drinks at local Kum and Go stores, teaching locals at Nationwide
Insurance the dangers of driving while distracted, and signing autographs
at select area U.S. Cellular stores.

With a busy week of television, radio and print interviews along with
sponsor related appearances leading up to Saturday’s U.S. Cellular 250,
Annett has also made time to help sell raffle tickets for a helmet raffle
he organized to benefit family friend, Will Krueger, who was diagnosed
with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2008. A helmet donated by Steve
Thomas of Bell Helmets with artwork designed by Ryan Young of Indocil Art,
whose father has Leukemia, will be the prize for the raffle. Annett has
sought help from his fellow Nationwide Series competitors as well by
asking the drivers to autograph the helmet.

Looking forward to Iowa Speedway’s hosting of their first NASCAR
Nationwide Series race, hometown favorite Annett will hit the pavement at
Iowa Speedway this weekend proudly piloting the No. 15 Northland Oil
Toyota Camry for Germain Racing as he vies for the win in the NASCAR
Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway.

On track activity at Iowa Speedway for the Nationwide Series starts
Thursday with a six hour practice session from 12:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Nationwide Series cars will once again take to the track for practice on
Friday from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Qualifying starts on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. Both final practice and
qualifying can be seen live on ESPN 2. The green flag drops for the start
of the U.S. Cellular 250 presented by Northland Oil and TMC Transportation
at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. A live broadcast of the race can be seen on
ESPN.
