Bayne put those bad memories behind him as he prepares to celebrate his 19th birthday on Friday with a good performance in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. It marks the second start on the two-mile oval for the Knoxville, Tenn., native who finished 19th on Oct. 10.

QUOTES

BAYNE ON FONTANA: “I got to run there last year for CJM Racing. I think it’s going to help me out that I am not going in there blind. I kind of know what to expect at California. I know what the car and the track are going to do as the race goes on. I know that you have to carry a lot of momentum there to run fast laps. It’s also kind of cool how you can feel the draft when there is a car beside you. At Fontana you can defiantly feel the aero and mechanical sides of the car.”

BAYNE ON DAYTONA: “It was a frustrating situation. However, we can’t start chasing our tails now . Daytona is a crap shoot anyway. You expect to go there and wreck and it’s an awesome day if you don’t. It’s just disappointing that we wrecked so early. I was hoping to be able to log some laps there but was only able to get seven under my belt. Kevin Manion (Bono) and Martin Truex Jr. both texted me after the race and said they wrecked at Daytona and won the championship. I still think we have a chance to win the championship. Every team is going to have a bad weekend. It’s the team who has the least amount of bad weeks that will bring home the championship.”

BAYNE ON EARNING REPECT: “It’s hard to get respect when you have rookie strips on your car. I think the best way to get respect from your competitors is to race them like you want to be raced. I think the more races I get under my belt the more respect that I will get from some of the veterans of the sport. “

ADDITIONAL NOTES OF INTEREST

· Bayne is the youngest driver competing full-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series this season.

· Bayne will celebrate his 19th birthday Friday, Feb. 19. He was born in Spartanburg, S.C and moved to Knoxville, Tenn., when he was two months old.

· Last weekend at Daytona International Speedway, Bayne and the No. 99 Diamond-Waltrip Racing team had a car that could compete with the leaders. Unfortunately, early contact by the No. 40 of Mike Bliss sent the young rookie into the outside retaining wall and ended the day for the No. 99 team on lap seven. The team finished 41st in the final rundown.

· Last fall Bayne started the race at Auto Club Speedway in the 11th spot and finished 19th. He worked his way into the top 10 before contact by another competitor on pit road caused damage to the Toyota Camry and forced him to make several up scheduled pit stops.

· The 18-year-old driver’s has driven in 16 NNS races. He has one pole (Indianapolis Raceway Park), two top-10’s (IRP and Richmond) and has led total of 34 laps.

· Sirius XM listeners can tune into channel 128 every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. to hear Bayne’s weekly visit on Sirius Speedway with Mike Bagley and Pete Pistone throughout the 2010 season.

(November 16, 2009) – Despite the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season coming to an end, Ricky Carmichael headed to Phoenix International Raceway for the second-to-last race of the year with a new organization, Turner Motorsports. Carmichael and the No. 31 Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado team worked together for the first time at the one-mile oval, as the pair prepares for their full-time 2010 NCWTS schedule. After qualifying in the 13th position, the Clearwater, Florida native raced inside the top-20 for the majority of the 150-lap race, as the Chevrolet faced a lack of grip. Even though the team made adjustments, Carmichael fell one lap down to the leaders on lap 79 and finished with a respectable 18th-place finish.

Starting the Lucas Oil 150 from 13th-place, Carmichael radioed to crew chief John Monsam that his Silverado was lacking grip all around the Arizona oval, as the No. 31 was scored in the 17th position when the second caution of the night slowed the field on lap 35. Monsam called Carmichael to pit road for four fresh tires and an air pressure adjustment, followed by a fuel stop the next lap. As the race restarted on lap 39, the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time) continued to run in the top-20. A long green-flag period ensued and the Turner Motorsports entry began to get a tight-handling condition. After fighting to stay on the lead lap for as long as possible, Carmichael fell one lap down to the leaders on lap 79.

As another caution waved on lap 91, Carmichael returned to the attention of his pit crew for four tires and an air pressure adjustment, in addition to a fuel stop the following lap. When the field restarted, the Raybestos Rookie of the Year Candidate ran in 20th-place and never fell below that running position for the remaining laps of the 150-mile event. Still facing a lack of grip and competing one-lap down, Carmichael worked his way through numerous late-race cautions and finished with a solid 18th-place finish.

“We kept the fenders on it,” said Carmichael, after the race. “We’d have liked to have finished a little better but we can’t demand too much right off the bat. We threw this thing together and we’ll live to fight another day. We lost a lot of positions on the first pit stop and I think if that wouldn’t have happened, we would have never went a lap down and would have got a ten times better finish. That’s the way it goes though – its racing. The truck was pretty good. I think I needed a little more front left down force, since that was my biggest problem all night. Like I said, I’m happy for the team and those guys worked hard. We had a decent qualifying round and we’ll get better each week.”

Ricky Carmichael and the No. 31 Monster Energy Chevrolet team will return to action this Friday, November 20th, as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Homestead-Miami Speedway for the final race of the 2009 season and the running of the Ford 200. Carmichael, who will make his first career start at the 1.5-mile track in South Florida, will take the green-flag shortly after 8 P.M. Eastern. SPEED will have live television coverage of the 134-lap event, beginning at 7:30 P.M. Eastern. Select affiliates of the MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio will have the live radio broadcast.

VENUE: TALLADEGA SUPERSPEEDWAY (2.66-MILE TRI-OVAL)

CIRCUIT: NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES (RACE 22 OF 25)

DATE: OCTOBER 31, 2009 (94 LAPS, 250.04 MILES)

BUESCHER AT TALLADEGA: Buescher has made one career start at Talladega Superspeedway, as he competed in the ARCA RE/MAX Series race in 2008 at the 2.66-mile tri-oval. Piloting the No. 32 Win-Tron Racing entry, Buescher started the 94-lap race from the pole position, but after a short 35 laps, the transmission broke, relegating the Texas native to a disappointing 31st-place finish.

CHASSIS INFORMATION: This week, crew chief Jamie Jones and the No. 10 MaxxForce International Ford team will unload Circle Bar Racing chassis CB-26. This particular Ford F-150 has never seen racing action, but was tested at Daytona International Speedway.

TRICK OR TREAT COLORS: For Saturday’s race, Buescher’s MaxxForce International Ford will have a special orange and black paint scheme in honor of Halloween.

SUPERSPEEDWAY STATS: Despite being a rookie in the Truck Series, Buescher has an impressive resume at the two Superspeedways that NASCAR competes at – Daytona and Talladega. Last season, the youngster claimed the pole during the ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Talladega, before mechanical issues ended his shot at the victory. Earlier this year in February, Buescher won the ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Daytona International Speedway, in addition to running up front in the NCWTS race before he was spun by a fellow competitor while passing for the lead.

ROOKIE UPDATE: With only four races remaining in the 2009 season, Buescher currently sits third in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year point standings. The 19-year-old is only 16 points behind second-place Tayler Malsam, as leader Johnny Sauter has pulled ahead of the two youngsters.

FOUR TO GO: Through the first 21 races of the 2009 NCWTS season, Buescher and his No. 10 MaxxForce International Ford team have recorded one top-five finish and three top-10 finishes, along with 12 top-15 efforts. The Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate has completed 92.2% of all laps competed (3205 of 3477). Buescher currently sits in the 14th position in the NCWTS Championship point standings, 128 markers behind 13th-place Terry Cook.

DID YOU KNOW?: Saturday afternoon’s race at Talladega Superspeedway will be the third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Halloween. The first Halloween race took place at Phoenix International Raceway in 2003, with Kevin Harvick taking home the checkered flag. Last season, the Truck Series also raced on Halloween at Texas Motor Speedway, as Ron Hornaday Jr. crossed the finish line first claimed the best treat of the night.

LAST CHANCE TO VOTE: NASCAR has created an online ballot for the fans to vote for their favorite driver for the Most Popular Driver Award. Fans are allowed to vote once a day, until the polls close this Saturday, October 31, 2009. The results of the balloting will be announced at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series banquet at the end of the season. Go to www.jamesbuescher.com and click on the Most Popular Driver icon to vote, as time is running out!

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last week at the “paperclip,” Buescher returned to the legendary Martinsville Speedway for the second time this season. After a two-hour delay due to rain showers, the 19-year-old took the green flag from the 19th position, but worked his way up to 11th-place by the end of the 200-lap race. Buescher tied his first career finish at the short-track and also once took home the Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors for the fourth time this season.

STAY UP TO SPEED: The Mountain Dew 250 from Talladega Superspeedway will take the green flag this Saturday, October 31st at 4:00 P.M. Eastern. Race coverage will be televised live on SPEED, beginning at 3:30 P.M. Eastern, and heard live on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128, beginning at 3:30 P.M. Eastern. Also, the NCWTS Qualifying can be seen live on SPEED at 5 P.M. Eastern on Friday, October 30th.

QUOTES FROM BEHIND THE WHEEL:

BUESCHER (On racing at Talladega Superspeedway): “Racing at Talladega is always exciting and I can’t wait to get back on a Superspeedway. Throughout my career so far, I have had a good amount of success at the restrictor plate tracks and I have a lot of confidence heading into this weekend’s race. In February, my Circle Bar Racing team gave me a great MaxxForce International Ford and unfortunately it got killed as I was passing for the lead. The guys have been working hard to make the truck for this weekend just as good and hopefully it will be. We are also going to have a special orange and black paint scheme this weekend instead of the normal blue and orange colors, so that’s pretty cool too.”

Tomorrow’s 75-lap race will be the final non-oval event of the season, as the IndyCar Series championship will be decided on oval tracks at Chicagoland, Japan and Homestead – courses that Wheldon (all three) and Panther (Chicagoland, Homestead) have been victorious on in the past.

The Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma will be held Sunday August 23 at 5 p.m. (EST) with live coverage provided by VERSUS and IMS Radio Network and Sirius XM channel 211.

Dan Wheldon, No. 4 National Guard Dallara Honda

“The team has done a really good job; we had a couple of bad races and it was frustrating for everybody involved. But we found something at Mid-Ohio in the race that definitely helped me get the feel I need from the racecar and since then we’ve had a really good run. We were quick in the test here last week and we’ve been quick yet today. I even felt like there was a touch more in the car, but the No. 4 National Guard team has worked really hard and we’re hoping for a good race tomorrow where we can get back on track.”

VENUE: NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY (1.333-MILE CONCRETE OVAL)

CIRCUIT: NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES (RACE 14 OF 25)

DATE: AUGUST 1, 2009 (150 LAPS, 200 MILES)

BUESCHER AT NASHVILLE: Buescher has made one career start at Nashville Superspeedway, as he competed in the ARCA RE/MAX Series event at the 1.333-mile concrete oval last season (2008). Driving the No. 32 Win-Tron Racing car, Buescher started from the third position and finished in 17th-place after a late race accident forced the driver to the back of the field. Also, Buescher has won at Music City Motorplex, located at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville. The teenager was driving a legends car in 2005 when he took home the coveted guitar trophy.

CHASSIS INFORMATION: This weekend, crew chief Jamie Jones and the No. 10 MaxxForce International Ford team will unload Circle Bar Racing chassis CB-27. This will be the fourth time that Buescher has raced this chassis, as he captured a 16th-place finish at Auto Club Speedway, a 13th-place finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and most recently a 17th-place finish at Dover International Speedway.

WAVE OF MOMENTUM: Buescher will look to finish out the three-week stretch in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with his third consecutive top-10 effort. The past two races at Kentucky Speedway and O’Reilly Raceway Park, Buescher has finished in the top-10, as he recorded an eighth-place finish and a sixth-place finish respectively.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR UPDATE: With Buescher’s solid run last week at O’Reilly Raceway Park, the Plano, Texas native closed the gap in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year Point Standings. Buescher currently sits in the third position, 12 points behind leader Tayler Malsam and only four points behind second-place Johnny Sauter. In addition, Buescher captured the Raybestos Rookie of the Race Honors for the third time this season, as he was the top rookie last week in Indianapolis.

MOST POPULAR DRIVER: NASCAR has created an online ballot for the fans to vote for their favorite driver for the Most Popular Driver Award. Fans are allowed to vote once a day, until the polls close on October 31, 2009. The results of the balloting will be announced at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series banquet at the end of the season. Let your voice be heard and vote for your favorite driver!

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last week at Indianapolis, Buescher claimed his third top-10 finish of the season at O’Reilly Raceway Park, by coming home in the sixth position. For most of the 200-lap event, Buescher was running laps as fast as the leaders, but was faced with running inside the top-20. During the last pit stop, the MaxxForce International Ford team put four fresh tires on the truck, along with making a small track bar adjustment and the F-150 catapulted towards the front of the field. This was Buescher’s second consecutive top-10 finish.

STAY UP TO SPEED: The Toyota Tundra 200 from Nashville Superspeedway will take the green flag this Saturday, August 1st at 9 P.M. Eastern. Race coverage will be televised live on SPEED, beginning at 8:30 P.M. Eastern, and heard live on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128, beginning at 8:30 P.M. Eastern.

BUESCHER (On racing at Nashville Superspeedway): “Nashville is a fun track to compete at. I’ve raced there before so it’s nice to head to a track that I have some experience on. Jamie (Jones, crew chief) and all of my MaxxForce International guys have been working hard to get this Ford F-150 back in shape and ready to go racing this weekend. This particular chassis has shown speed at times at intermediate tracks, but we have had to do some damage repair since we blew a right-front tire in Dover. Our intermediate program has made progress this season and I’m optimistic that we can have a good run this weekend at Nashville. I would love to get another guitar to add to my trophy collection.”

The race featured just one full-course caution as the IndyCar Series field had to drive through a 93-lap stretch of green-flag conditions that opened the race in the hot summer conditions.

Team Penske part-timer Will Power was the race winner, with teammate Helio Castroneves and Ganassi Racing driver Scott Dixon completing the podium.

Wheldon slipped one spot in the IndyCar Series championship chase, and now stands in seventh position, just behind Andretti Green Racing drivers Danica Patrick and Marco Andretti – who is just four points ahead of Wheldon and the Panther team.

The team now makes preparations for next Saturday night’s race at Kentucky Speedway, where the team was victorious in 2003 with Sam Hornish Jr. Panther started on the front row there last season with Vitor Meira, who led the race before finishing fourth. Wheldon finished fifth there last year, and twice finished on the podium on the 1.5-mile oval.
The Meijer Indy 300 will be broadcast live on VERSUS next Saturday at 8 p.m. (EST), with additional coverage provided by the IMS Radio Network, www.indycar.com and Sirius XM channel 211.

Dan Wheldon, No. 4 National Guard Dallara Honda

“It was just a very tough weekend, but drawing on the positives; at the end of the race, as rubber went down on the track, the National Guard Panther Racing car definitely came alive. So for us, that indicates the direction that we need to go in. So while the result today in Edmonton isn’t as positive as we would have liked, there’s certainly some information that we can build upon and for me personally, the physical training that I’ve done this year has definitely paid off because that was pretty much a green race today.”

(July 20, 2009) – Tayler Malsam once again proved at Kentucky Speedway why he isn’t the average Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Driving the No. 81 One Eighty Toyota Tundra during the one-year anniversary of Randy Moss Motorsports, Malsam was determined to claim his first top-five finish. Starting from the eighth position, Malsam steadily ran in the top-10 for the majority of the 150-lap race. Crew chief Doug Wolcott made a strategy call, only taking two tires on the first pit stop of the night, allowing Malsam to break into the top-three. On lap 46, Malsam took the lead from veteran Ron Hornaday and led for a total of 12 laps, recording his first laps led in NASCAR competition. Consistently running in the top-five positions, Malsam received contact from a fellow competitor in the final 10 laps, relegating the 20-year-old to a very disappointing 13th-place finish.

Qualifying in his best starting position of the 2009 season, Malsam was poised to run up front with the veterans of the Truck Series. As the first caution of the night slowed the field on lap 34, the Raybestos Rookie leader was running in the eighth position. Wolcott made a strategy call for only right side tires on lap 35, followed by a fuel stop the next lap. Restarting from the third position on lap 42, Malsam was running the fastest laps of the race. In a short four laps, the Seattle, Washington native passed Ron Hornaday and led his first laps in NASCAR competition. Malsam was pulling away from the rest of the field when a caution flew on lap 54.

Restarting from the lead on lap 58, Malsam got a slow start and in one lap, the No. 81 One Eighty Toyota was running in the fifth position. Having a stout Tundra, Malsam worked his way back into third-place by lap 59. A long green-flag run allowed the youngster to track the leaders back down and take over second-place. Wolcott called Malsam to the attention of his pit crew on lap 98 for fuel only under green-flag conditions. A caution brought the field back together on lap 112, as the One Eighty Toyota was running in fifth-place.

Wolcott once again called Malsam to pit road for four fresh tires and the rookie candidate restarted in the fifth position on lap 118, right in front of his RMM teammate Mike Skinner. The final 25 laps of the race were caution-filled and Malsam was slowly picking off spots in front of him. By lap 121, the One Eighty Toyota was once again running in the second position. Unfortunately with seven laps to go, Malsam received contact from another competitor, which cut down the left rear tire of the No. 81 One Eighty Tundra and the hopes of the rookie capturing his first win in the Truck Series. After coming to pit road for four fresh tires, Malsam came home in the 13th position. This was Malsam’s 10th top-15 finish of the 2009 season.

Tayler Malsam

“It’s very disappointing and frustrating,” said Malsam. “To have a tire cut down with only a handful of laps left is really frustrating. But I can’t say enough about my team. Doug (Wolcott) and all of these guys on his One Eighty, Randy Moss Motorsports team did an awesome job all weekend. This just shows that we are definitely a force to be reckoned with, because if my guys keep giving me rockets like this truck was, we will get our top-five finish and win very soon. It was a lot of fun leading those laps out there and running up front with the veterans who have been doing this for a long time. It just says a lot about my team and we will go get them in Indy.”

With his solid effort, Malsam remains in the seventh position in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship point standings. He currently sits 73 points behind sixth-place David Starr and only 76 points behind fifth-place Brian Scott.

This Friday, July 24, Tayler Malsam and the No. 81 One Eighty Toyota Tundra team will head to the historic O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis. The green flag will drop on the AAA Insurance 200 shortly after 8:00 P.M. Eastern. SPEED will have live coverage of the 200-lap event, starting at 7:30 P.M. Eastern. Select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128 will also have the live radio broadcast.

(July 20, 2009) – The 12th race of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season at Kentucky Speedway marked the one-year anniversary of Randy Moss Motorsports and veteran driver Mike Skinner looked to bring home another victory for the organization. Despite qualifying in the 19th position, Skinner steadily made his way through the field and with five laps to go, the No. 5 Exide Batteries Toyota Tundra was in position to capture the checkered flag. Battling with Ron Hornaday, Skinner finished one truck length short of the win and posted a solid second-place finish. This was Skinner’s fifth top-five finish of the 2009 season, his 85th top-five finish of his Truck Series career.

Starting from the back half of the field, Skinner knew he had his work cut out for him during the 150-lap race at the 1.5-mile speedway. Gradually working his way past fellow competitors, Skinner ran in 11th-place when the first caution of the night flew on lap 34. Crew chief Eric Phillips called the 1995 Truck Series Champion to pit road for four fresh tires on lap 35, followed by a stop for fuel the next lap. Skinner restarted from the 12th position on lap 42.

By lap 50, Skinner had broke into the top-10 positions and never looked back. A short 10 laps later, the Daytona Beach, Florida resident was running in fifth-place. As a long green-flag run forced all the competitors to come to pit road for service, Skinner returned to the attention of his pit crew on lap 99 for fuel only. As a caution slowed the field on lap 112, Phillips brought the No. 5 Toyota down pit road for four fresh tires.

The final 20 laps saw three caution flags, but the restart opportunities allowed Skinner to position himself to make a run for the win. On lap 130, the Exide Tundra was in seventh-place and within 10 laps, the veteran was in the fifth position. The final restart of the 225-mile event on lap 146 left Skinner with five laps to take the lead from Hornaday. Unfortunately, Skinner came up one lap short, as the No. 5 Toyota came home one truck length behind Hornaday, posting a second-place finish for the Tundra driver.

With the runner-up finish, Skinner remains in the third position in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship point standings. He currently sits 154 points behind leader Hornaday and only 58 points behind second-place Matt Crafton.

This Friday, July 24, Mike Skinner and the No. 5 Exide Batteries Toyota Tundra team will head to the historic O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis.

How was that finish?

“I don’t wish bad luck on anybody but we didn’t have a second-place truck. We had a good truck – one more lap and we might have had a first-place truck. I really hate it for my teammate Tayler (Malsam), the 81 truck ran up front all night and that young man did a heck of a job. I hate it for Todd (Bodine) that he had an oil leak or something there. We finished second; we have to try to stay in the game.”

Did where you started tonight’s race from have an effect on your finish?

“Ronnie (Hornaday) did a good job. I think one more lap and we might have had him, might have been able to challenge him a little bit right there. Man I hate it for Tayler Malsam, he had a good truck tonight. Both the Randy Moss Motorsports trucks did a good job. We got stuck back there from qualifying and it kind of messed us up. I want to thank the fans. I want to thank Exide and PC Miler, who just came on board to support our efforts. I want to thank Toyota. Triad put a good body on this truck. I just hate it – doggone it, we were close.”

How do you grade your team so far in 2009?

“For the budget that we’ve had and the amount of people that we’ve had with the resources – Toyota does an awesome job and these Triad engines – man, they’re just awesome. Eric Phillips and David Dollar (co-owner), they have done a heck of a lot with a little bit.”

It’s nice going to track that I have had some laps on before, because that usually doesn’t happen a lot. My One Eighty, Randy Moss Motorsports team always gives me good Toyotas to drive and this race will be no different.
SKINNER AT KENTUCKY: Skinner has competed in six NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races at Kentucky Speedway. In those six NCWTS races, Skinner has claimed one win (2007), two top-five finishes (’05 and ’07) and three top-10 finishes, including last year’s race at the 1.5-mile oval as the veteran finished in the seventh position. The 1995 Truck Series Champion has completed 880 of 904 laps competed (97.3%) and led a total of 223 laps at the Bluegrass State track. Skinner has also claimed one pole position, which came last year (’08) as he started the race from the front row.

ONE YEAR DOWN, MANY MORE AHEAD: This weekend’s race at Kentucky Speedway marks the one-year anniversary of Randy Moss becoming an owner in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The NFL Wide Receiver merged with co-owner David Dollar last July, as Morgan-Dollar Motorsports became Randy Moss Motorsports. Moss won his first race as an owner in April, as Skinner drove the No. 5 Toyota Tundra to Victory Lane at Kansas Speedway.

CHASSIS CHOICE: This weekend, crew chief Eric Phillips and the No. 5 team will unload Randy Moss Motorsports chassis MDM-43. This is the third race of the 2009 season for this Toyota Tundra, as Skinner drove it to an eighth-place finish at Dover International Speedway and a fifth-place finish at Michigan International Speedway.

FESTIVAL OF SPEED: During the two-week hiatus in the NCWTS, Skinner and his wife, Angie took the opportunity to participate in the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. Skinner drove a 2009 Red Bull Toyota Camry through the hills of the countryside, along with a handful of other racing drivers who were part of the event. In addition, the Skinner’s visited Scotland for a few days for some sightseeing and relaxation.

MEDIA AVAILABILITY: Skinner, teammate Tayler Malsam, and co-owner David Dollar will be available to the media on Friday evening at 5:15 P.M. Eastern in the Media Center at Kentucky Speedway.

We just have to continue to be on our game and there are some other trucks that are really good every week. But Eric Phillips (crew chief) has been putting me in very good stuff and we have been running awfully well. Hopefully we can figure the set-up out this weekend and get it done.”

SKINNER (On the one-year anniversary of Randy Moss as a NASCAR owner): “I’m happy for Randy and it’s good to be representing the team. Hopefully we can make some announcements in the next month or so of some good things about the future of the team.”

SKINNER (On his experience in England, participating in the Festival of Speed): “It was absolutely awesome. It was one of the neatest things that I’ve ever done in my career. I went over there and drove a 2009 Toyota Red Bull Camry and was able to make some exhibition runs and do some cool burnouts. But the coolest part was seeing all the drivers from the early days and the cars from the early days, everything from Formula One cars to early Cup cars and you name it.

There was a lot of neat stuff over there and we were able to spend some time with Lord March, his wife and family. It was an unbelievable event that these people put on and we could definitely learn something from that, since we don’t have anything like that over here. The best part of the whole trip was when we went to Scotland and I was able to beat Jim Hunter at playing golf at the Old Course at St. Andrews. If you love golf, that was definitely something that you would have on your bucket list of courses to play at. It was beautiful and lots of fun.”

Being that it’s his first time at the 1.5-mile Chicagoland Speedway, he needs to keep his attention focused on learning a new track as he’s been making return trips the past few races.

He and the No. 23 Mahindra Tractors Chevrolet team of R3 Motorsports have the talent, tenacity and equipment to get the job done. But, like any other young athlete learning as they go, Richardson can only do that one way – by actually doing the task at hand.

Robert Richardson

With 39 career NASCAR Nationwide Series starts to his credit, Richardson has been finding his way one lap at a time this year driving a limited schedule. Notching his career-best finish of 16th at Talladega Superspeedway, the Texas native keeps getting better each week.

R3 Motorsports battled back from being out of the coveted top-30 in NASCAR Nationwide Series owner’s points for two weeks and are now concentrating on improving every weekend. With the Mahindra Tractors Chevrolet ready to roll at Chicagoland, they and Richardson feel good about their chances of success.

Tune in for the Win – After two practices on Thursday, the Nationwide Series qualifies at 3 p.m. (ET) on Friday live on ESPN2-TV. Hours later, the 200-lap race airs on ESPN starting at 8 p.m. with radio coverage on MRN Radio and Sirius/XM NASCAR Channel 128.

- R3 Motorsports Press Release

Robert Richardson, driver – “Going to a new track like this isn’t my favorite thing to do in a race car. But, I also know it’s what you have to do to learn and get better. The good news is I like the 1.5-mile tracks and seem to adapt to them fairly quickly.

“Not having to worry about qualifying our way into the race helps the entire team out. That allows myself and them to work on the car, make some mock qualifying runs and make some long runs to see how the car handles after multiple laps.

“Once I get the feel of how the car is on the track, then I can get behind some veteran drivers and see where their entry and exit points are on the track. I look forward to learning a new track any time I can, but I look forward to coming back again to put it to good use. And, we get to race under the lights on a Friday night again; I love racing under those conditions.”

(July 5, 2009) – The National Guard Panther Racing team and driver Dan Wheldon captured their eighth-consecutive Top Ten finish Sunday in the Camping World GP at the Glen with a tenth-place finish. Wheldon, who started 11th, ran as high as fourth during the race and remains in the sixth position in the IndyCar Series point standings.

The team’s current streak of consecutive Top Ten finishes is the longest in the series and Wheldon has now completed more laps (1,632 of a possible 1,648) than any other driver in the series.

At the start of the race, Wheldon passed Danica Patrick to take tenth position on the first lap. Then after pitting for the first time on Lap 17, the team benefited from the first caution of the race two laps later when Richard Antinucci spun. Several competitors had yet to pit and the bonus elevated Wheldon to fifth place. After a restart on Lap 25, Wheldon passed Helio Castroneves as the two drivers entered the bus stop chicane and put the No. 4 car into the fourth position.

An issue on the team’s final pit stop on Lap 41 cost the team a few places, but Wheldon re-entered the field in ninth and after the race’s final restart (Lap 54) Robert Doornbos, who was on red tires, passed Wheldon, giving the team its final position of tenth.

Dale Coyne Racing driver Justin Wilson captured the team’s first career win and he was followed to the finish line by Team Penske driver Ryan Briscoe and Ganassi’s Racing’s Scott Dixon.

Panther will now travel to Toronto for the IndyCar Series first event on the downtown streets, the Honda Indy Toronto race will be broadcast live in ABC at 1 p.m. (EST), with additional coverage provided by the IMS Radio Network, www.indycar.com and Sirius XM channel 211.

Dan Wheldon, No. 4 National Guard Dallara Honda

“The car was very competitive, we just had a little bit of a slower pit stop on the last stop. But that happens. Unfortunately it might have just been one of those days for the National Guard Panther Racing team. With our tire choice today we just got unlucky; when our red tires were on there were some sporadic yellows and when we had the blacks on it stayed green. It was just one of those days, but everybody at Panther continues to work very hard and did a good job this weekend, we just need to bounce back in Toronto.”
