The 18 year-old from Bakersfield, California will be behind the wheel of the No.15 JDRF– Venturini Motorsports race car for the ARCA Racing Series Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona. Ryan and his team are also excited to announce support from Advance Auto Parts for Ryan’s superspeedway debut.

“Racing at Daytona is a dream-come true,” said Reed. “Since I was a kid I dreamed of the day I would have the opportunity to compete on the historic track. And then to go to the test with Venturini Motorsports in December and be at the top of the charts on the first day was unreal!”

Reed was diagnosed with T1D exactly one year ago – February 2011.

His untimely diagnosis changed his life forever and threatened his promising racing career. After being told his racing career was over, Reed made a decision not to allow T1D to dictate his legacy behind the wheel.

Ryan Reed

Armed with the passion and determination to fulfill his dreams, Reed shifted his focus and poured all his energy into managing his health and educating himself on the disease.

Reed’s tenacity and ‘never quit’ attitude has allowed him the good fortune to return to the race car and use his racing platform and personal story to inspire others living with T1D to continue living life to its fullest.

Reed’s off-track goodwill has made him a National Celebrity Advocate of JDRF, the world’s largest funder of research toward curing, treating and preventing T1D and its complications.

Ryan's Mission (Ryan Reed)

“JDRF has an amazing group of people that are involved in the organization. We’ve been working with them locally, and on a national level more recently. I feel like part of the family whenever we do events together,” said Ryan. “I just feel so fortunate that I can inspire others and create such a positive atmosphere after being diagnosed with a life-long disease.”

Today, Reed is only one of three professional race car drivers in the world to compete at the highest levels of racing with T1D. Indy Racing League driver, Charlie Kimball was diagnosed with T1D in 2007. The two drivers not only share the same circumstances but also share the same doctor, Dr. Anne Peters, MD of USC Clinical Diabetes Program in California.

Reed’s partnership with JDRF will be prominently on display when his JDRF themed racecar is unveiled next week when the ARCA Racing Series returns to Daytona.

To commemorate this historic moment, Reed teamed up with NASCAR’s first officially licensed artist and design icon, Sam Bass to create the paint scheme for Reed’s JDRF car.

Although Bass has designed hundreds of paint schemes for many of today’s NASCAR superstars, the JDRF project with Ryan Reed has a very personal meaning to the motorsports artist.

Like Reed, Sam Bass is also living with T1D. He was diagnosed in 1992.

Bass used this opportunity and his heart to design a show piece and leave his personal imprint on this project to help create more awareness to JDRF and the millions of people affected by this life-long disease.

“I am thrilled to be working with such a talented, young, up and coming driver as Ryan Reed,” said Sam Bass. “His partnership with JDRF has a tremendously special meaning to me, as I also have type 1 diabetes, and have dealt with the disease all of my life. I can relate first hand to the goals and initiatives JDRF has set to help people living with diabetes, and to find a cure. JDRF does very impactful work, and I am extremely proud to assist them in their marketing efforts with the Venturini Motorsports Team and Ryan.”

While November is the official National Diabetes Awareness Month on a worldwide initiative, February marks a significant month for diabetes in Ryan’s life.

Ryan was diagnosed with T1D in February 2011 and 1-year later he will be running the JDRF painted racecar for the first time at Daytona International Speedway in honor of everyone that is affected by T1D.

Practice for the season-opening race starts on Thursday, February 16, while qualifying is Friday, February 17 at 2pm. The race, scheduled to be televised live by SPEED-TV, is Saturday, February 18 at 4:30pm ET.

Poole, hoping to chase down his next championship, will drive the team’s flagship No. 25 Adcetera / Venturini Motorsports Chevrolet in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season-opening Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway. The 20 year-old driver will make his Daytona International Speedway debut with Venturini Motorsports (VMS), with Billy Venturini as the team’s crew chief.

“Brennan has been impressive every time he’s been in the seat for VMS,” Venturini said. “He tested well in December and has been preparing for this race the entire off-season. I think he’s got a great shot, and we expect him to shine at Daytona.”

In just four selected ARCA Series starts with Venturini Motorsports, the Woodlands, Texas, native has captured a series victory (Salem Speedway) and a pole award (Pocono Raceway) and has led laps in all but one of his series starts.

Brennan Poole

“We’ve had a lot of success at every step, but to race for a storied team like Venturini Motorsports, especially at Daytona, certainly is the highlight,” Poole said. “The Venturinis have high standards and very high expectations every time they go to Daytona. It’s my job not to let them down.”

Nicknamed “The Bull,” Poole was the 2002 Quarter Midget Grand National Champion, and he followed that up by winning 42 of 61 Pro National Legends races and the national race of champions feature in 2006. He also was the 2009 UARA-STARS Rookie of the Year and 2011 UARA-STARS Champion. He has won 10 times in the past two UARA-STARS seasons.

Poole’s car will be painted in a retro color scheme originally used by Billy Venturini during his 10-year driving career.

Practice for the season-opening race starts on Thursday, Feb. 16, while qualifying is Friday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. The race, scheduled to be televised live by SPEED-TV, is Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET.

“The ARCA racing series gives me the best opportunity to make the transition into stock car racing and prepare me for NASCAR Tucks or Nationwide racing in the future. Venturini’s reputation and the success they’ve had working with many drivers was a major factor in my decision to join the team and the series,” says Canache.

Canache, a native of Caracas, Venezuela is a standout driver on the international stage and is ready to take the next big step in his professional racing career under the guidance of VMS’s competition director, Billy Venturini.

“It’s an honor to represent my country and build more awareness to US stock car racing. I feel I have the support of everyone back home and look forward to making them proud,” added Canache.

“It’s going to be a challenge but working with the best team gives me the confidence I need to succeed at this level and prepare myself for the future. I have limited oval racing experience; every week will be a challenge and test me physically and mentally. Driving for Venturini gives me the best chance to learn and show people here in the states my skills.”

Canache, who spent his 2011 season competing in the Seat Leon Super Cup in Mexico and the NASCAR Whelen All American Series under the Lee Faulk Racing banner, is now looking to bolster his racing resume and pursue the highest ranks of American stock car racing.

“There’s no question ARCA and NASCAR has attracted world class talent to our sport. Nelson has proven himself as an international driver and comes to our team with tremendous talent and determination to succeed at this level in a relatively unknown series. He’s a true professional and student of his craft; he’s eager to learn and unwilling to fall back on past accomplishments,” says Billy Venturini. I expect him to fit into our program well and compete strongly against his competition.

Canache will drive full time for Venturini; competing in all 20 events listed on ARCA’s 60th Anniversary Season schedule, making his ARCA debut on February 18th at Daytona International Speedway.

ARCA, considered the most diverse racing series on the planet, is the only touring series to include a variety of style race tracks to test the skills and preparation of both drivers and teams competing. ARCA’s schedule showcases a mix of speedway (1.5 mile+), short track (1 mile or less), dirt track and road course events to determine a national champion.

Canache, who participated in a Chevrolet – Venturini Motorsports prepared car left a solid impression after three days of ARCA Racing Series testing at the famed Daytona International Speedway. Canache finished the weekend with a fast time of 48.212 seconds (186.676 mph), securing the 7th fastest lap time (out of 53 drivers) of the entire weekend test session.

Venturini Motorsports unloaded 5 cars in all during the December test and posted the top speed overall with Alex Bowman’s 188.336 mph lap. Venturini cars finished the weekend test session with all 5 cars inside the top-7 positions.

In addition to running the ARCA series, Canache will make his first ever Rolex 24 at Daytona behind the wheel of the No.51 APR Motorsports Audi R8 Grand-Am for this year’s 24 hour classic. Canache will join teammates, including ‘Endurance Race’ icon, Emanuele Pirro, Dion Von Moltke, Ian Baas and Dr. Jim Norman.

Canache will also join Ian Baas in the No.41 APR Tuned Audi S4 in the Grand-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge GS class leading up to the Rolex 24.

Canache will make his ARCA Racing debut with an added sense of national pride, when the series returns to Daytona International Speedway on February 18th for the season opening event, driving the No.35 Venturini prepared – Venezuela sponsored Chevrolet. The event will be televised live on SPEED Channel starting at 4:30 EST. Check your local times and listings for broadcast information.

International flair nothing new to Venturini Motorsports as the team’s on-track success has attracted drivers from all over the globe. In 2011 the team featured a total of 21 different drivers including four import drivers; Steve Arpin (Canada), Miguel Paludo (Brazil), George Meideke (Australia) and Ali Jackson (Ireland). Arpin and Paludo are both competing in the ranks of NASCAR in 2012.

Ryan will compete in selective 2012 events under the Venturini banner in preparation for a full season effort. Ryan Reed, at the age of 18, will make his ARCA Racing Series debut at Daytona Int’l Speedway on February 18th, 2012.

Ryan Reed, originally from Bakersfield, CA moved across the country by himself at the age of 17 to Mooresville, NC in order to surround himself with the racing community.

In February 2011, Ryan was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as he was preparing his move to North Carolina but he didn’t let that slow him down. The aspiring young NASCAR driver completed his move to North Carolina to pursue his driving career professionally.

Ryan Reed

Since February, Ryan has had to change almost everything about his daily routine: diet, exercise, blood glucose readings, on track data, and reporting all of this information weekly to his medical / nutritional team in California.

Focusing on his commitment and determination, Ryan has set records and compiled an impressive list of racing accomplishments. As an outspoken diabetic who puts his passion for racing into “Ryan’s Mission,” helps build awareness and support for people with diabetes around the world.

Since the age of 4, Ryan has moved up through the racing structure with high levels of success and 5 racing Championships in his career. Ryan has continued to show his ability and talent on and off the track.

In 2009, Ryan became the Legends Division Track Champion at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (Irwindale, CA). Ryan backed up his Championship the following year at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale by becoming the 2010 Rookie-of-the-Year in the Super Late Model Division. He took home one win in the 2010 season becoming the youngest winner at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale in the Super Late Model Divison.

November 19, 2011

No. 30 ‘Bienvenidos a NASCAR’ Chevrolet News and Notes

Turner Motorsports welcomes Nelson Piquet Jr. … Turner Motorsports is pleased to welcome NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) standout Nelson Piquet Jr. to the seat of the No. 30 Chevrolet for this weekend’s Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Piquet Jr. made his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut at Watkins Glen International in 2010. In his lone NNS start, the Brazil native brought home a seventh-place finish after qualifying in the 10th position.

NCWTS notes… As Piquet Jr. prepares for his first NNS race of 2011, the 26-year-old is wrapping up his rookie pursuit for the NCWTS championship. Over the course of 24 starts this season, he has captured five top-five and nine top-10 finishes, leading 52 laps along the way. He sits 10th in the championship point standings and is just five markers down in the fierce battle for the series’ Rookie of the Year honors.

Calling the shots… This weekend, Piquet Jr. will work with veteran crew chief Stewart Cooper. Cooper has worked with several drivers in 2011 including Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Boris Said, James Buescher and Ricky Carmichael.

This week’s Impala… The No. 30 team will round out the 2011 season this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway hitting the track with chassis TMS-310. This chassis made its debut at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where Kahne drove it to a fifth-place finish after starting in the seventh spot. Buescher also piloted TMS-310 two weeks ago at Texas Motor Speedway, finishing in the 17th spot.

Bienvenidos a NASCAR… In support of NASCAR’s ‘Bienvenidos a NASCAR’ program, Piquet Jr.’s No. 30 Chevrolet will sport a special program decal this weekend. In addition to decals on entries in all three of NASCAR’s top series, the program will provide bilingual brand ambassadors, virtual garage tours and guidebooks of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage. There will be a Spanish language broadcast available via scanner (via ESPN Deportes), as well as ‘Bienvenidos a NASCAR’ ticket packages though Homestead-Miami Speedway and a Chino y Nacho pre-race concert on Sunday, Nov. 20th at 12 p.m. at the Coca-Cola Stage.

Turner Motorsports: A look back… In 33 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 21 top-five and 62 top-10 finishes. Mark Martin kicked off the season capturing the team’s first-ever NASCAR win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March. It was Justin Allgaier’s turn in June when he nabbed his second-career win at Chicagoland Speedway and Reed Sorenson rounded the month out winning his first NNS race with the organization at Road America. Both of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-10 in the driver point standings with Allgaier in third and Jason Leffler in sixth.

In 24 NCWTS races in 2011, Turner Motorsports’ entries have earned 13 top-five and 31 top-10 finishes. The organization has earned five pole awards with Buescher earning three, and Carmichael and Steve Arpin capturing one each. Buescher is currently sitting third in the championship point standings, 28 markers out of the lead.

Nelson Piquet Jr. on racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series

“I am really excited to have the opportunity to get in the Nationwide car for Turner Motorsports this weekend. I have never done double duty before, so I am really looking forward to it. It is going to be a lot of seat time, more then I have ever done before in one weekend. I want to thank Steve Turner for giving me the opportunity to get in one of his cars, and I am looking forward to bringing home a solid finish in the No. 30 machine.”

First Time For Feese At Homestead-Miami… Blake Feese will make his first start at Homestead-Miami Speedway this Friday evening. In his eight starts this season for Turner Motorsports, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) rookie has earned one top-five and one top-10 finish, with his best starting spot of third coming at Texas Motor Speedway. He holds an average finishing spot of 18.2.

Red Hot in Miami… Red Hot Insurance Quotes will adorn the hood of Feese’s No. 32 Chevy this Friday evening at HMS. In it’s first foray into the racing world, Red Hot Insurance Quotes works to save hundreds on auto, home, and life insurance and strives to provide excellent care for its customers.

007… The No. 32 Red Hot Insurance Quotes Chevrolet Silverado team will unload chassis TMS-007 for Friday evening’s NCWTS season-finale. This chassis last saw track action in ‘Sin City’, where Feese qualified 19th and brought home a 13th-place finish. Feese also ran TMS-007 at Atlanta Motor Speedway where he brought home a career best fourth-place finish. Earlier this summer at Nashville Superspeedway, the rookie driver started 18th and finished in the 17th spot. TMS-007 also has a pair of top-10 finishes with Brad Sweet behind the wheel. Sweet started fourth and finished 10th at Charlotte Motor Speedway and followed that up at Kansas Speedway, starting and finishing in the ninth spot.

Looking Back on 2011 for the No. 32… The No. 32 Chevy saw four drivers take the wheel in 2011. This included three rookie drivers and a NASCAR legend who returned to the NCWTS after being absent for three years. The season started off with World of Outlaws racer, Brad Sweet, behind the wheel for the first 10 events of the season. He notched two top-10 finishes before closing out his run and making way for Canadian driver, Steve Arpin, who made his NCWTS debut with a splash, qualifying fourth at Texas Motor Speedway. The NCWTS rookie closed out his run at Chicagoland Speedway, grabbing his first career pole and becoming only third foreign-born NCWTS driver to do so. NASCAR veteran, Mark Martin, made his return to the NCWTS with the iconic Exide Batteries paint scheme for two races. Martin was on track to bring the No. 32 Chevy to victory lane, but his dominating performance was derailed by a late race accident at Michigan International Speedway. Feese returned to NASCAR this season, taking the reigns for the remainder of 2011, capturing one top-five and one top-10 finish. Overall a pretty strong year for the No. 32 Turner Motorsports crew.

Feese in 2011… After being absent from the NASCAR circuit, Feese made his return at Nashville Superspeedway earlier this summer and didn’t look back. Over the course of nine races Feese has accumulated nine NCWTS starts this season. He has earned one top-five and one top-10 finish, and earned a best career starting spot of third at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this month. He has an average finishing spot of 18.2.

“I’m looking forward to heading to Homestead this weekend. It’s a track I’ve never competed at and I can’t wait to get on the track to feel it out. This season has been a rejuvenation for me and quite the learning experience. I can’t thank Mr. Turner enough for the opportunity he provided me by letting me get behind the wheel of his No. 32 Chevy. I’ll definitely take what I’ve learned this season and look to build on it in the future.”

No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet News and Notes

The end of an era… In this weekend’s 2011 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Jason Leffler will make his final start behind the wheel of the No. 38 Great Clips machine. Leffler has piloted this car for the last six seasons, making headlines for the world’s largest haircare brand with his famous faux-hawk hairdo. Leffler will continue to represent Great Clips in select projects, with his long-time sponsor serving as his primary sponsor in his quest for victory in the 2012 Chili Bowl Nationals in January.

Sixth in the standings…. Leffler has secured sixth-place in the 2011 driver championship point standings after a season that has included two top-fives and 12 top-10 finishes with nine laps led. He has an average starting position of 13.0 and an average finishing position of 13.9.
Leffler a solid contender at Homestead-Miami Speedway (HMS)… In eight NNS starts at the 1.5-mile oval, Leffler has captured three top-10′s as well as a pair of fourth-place finishes (2003 and 2008). He has an average start of 17.9 and an average finish of 13.5.

The organization has earned five pole awards with James Buescher earning three, and Ricky Carmichael and Steve Arpin capturing one each. Buescher is currently sitting third in the championship point standings, 28 markers out of the lead.

Happy 10-Year Anniversary, Great Clips… This season marks Great Clips’ 10-year anniversary as a primary sponsor in the NNS. The Minneapolis-based Great Clips, Inc., which is currently the longest-running primary sponsor in the series, came onto the scene in 2001 as a primary sponsor of Akins Motorsports No. 38 entry, then driven by Christian Elder.

Leffler on SIRIUS’ Morning Drive every Wednesday… Don’t forget to tune in to SIRIUS Radio’s “Morning Drive” with Mike Bagley and Pete Pistone every Wednesday at 10:30am to hear Leffler’s take on recent events in the Nationwide Series and what you can expect from the week’s upcoming race.

“I really only have one goal going into this weekend and that is taking this 38 team and Great Clips back into victory lane. It’s been an up and down season but I know we have it in us to go out there and get the win. I can’t say enough about this team! These are some of the hardest working guys in the garage and I couldn’t ask for a better team to have behind me. I also want to thank Great Clips for their years of support. It has been a privilege representing them both on and off the track for the last six years. They are an amazing company to work with and I have enjoyed working with not just the corporate staff in Minneapolis, but the thousands of Great Clips franchisees, managers and stylists around the country as well. I look forward to continuing my relationship with Great Clips with events like the Chili Bowl Nationals in January.”

“We are continuing to evaluate our racing program as we look to the 2012 season,” said team owner Steve Turner. “Brian Vickers is a proven winner at NASCAR’s highest level in addition to being a driver at Turner Motorsports over the last four seasons. He has worked with Trent Owens in the past which will allow us to immediately focus on the task at hand. We are confident Brian can help assess where we are, as a company currently, and the direction we are going as we build our programs for 2012 and beyond.”

Vickers previously competed in the Nationwide Series for Turner Motorsports on a part-time basis from 2007-2010. In 41 starts, Vickers compiled 15 top-five and 28 top-10 finishes along with three pole awards. Vickers has made four Nationwide Series starts at Kansas Speedway, notching one top-10 finish back in 2007 while driving the No. 10 entry for Turner Motorsports.

“I can’t thank everyone at Dollar General and Turner Motorsports enough for this opportunity,” said Vickers. “They have been so supportive of me both personally and professionally over the past few years, and it’s great to continue this relationship for a few more races. I am looking forward to driving this new Nationwide Series car with Trent and the guys behind me!”

The No. 32 team remains under the leadership of Trent Owens, the same crew chief Vickers worked with during the majority of his time at Turner Motorsports.

Turner Motorsports web design partner, RACERSITES, will be featured on his Impala with a special JustinAllgaier.com paint scheme to coincide with the launch of the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) competitor’s new website this week.

“The boys over at RACERSITES have been developing industry-leading web sites in the racing space for years,” said Allgaier. “They are, without question, the right partner for me in setting the standard for driver websites and I know my fans and business partners will be as pleased as I am with the new justinallgaier.com.”

The newly-designed site will feature various interactive video elements, the most up-to-date news and information, fan interaction sections and easy access to Allgaier through Facebook and Twitter integration. This site includes unique elements such as exclusive feature videos of Justin and an online store for fans to purchase their Allgaier gear.

“Justin is undoubtedly a rising star in NASCAR and through this enhanced website, fans will form a deeper connection with him,” said RACERSITES CEO Chuck Tate. “Justin is able to get personal through this site through authentic dialogue with fans and demonstrate his character both on and off the track.”

Currently in his third year of fulltime NNS competition, Allgaier has earned two-wins, three-poles, 17 top-five and 46 top-10 finishes. The Riverton-Ill.-native got his start racing Midget and Sprint cars at age six before moving on to stock cars as a teenager. After capturing the ARCA Racing Series championship in 2008, he graduated to the Nationwide Series the following year and claimed the Rookie of the Year honors with three top-five and 12 top-10 finishes. He captured his first win in 2010 at Bristol Motor Speedway, becoming the only Nationwide Series regular to see victory lane for over a year. Thus far in 2011, Allgaier has found his way back to victory lane at Chicagoland Speedway and has earned six top-five and 14 top-10 finishes.

September 24, 2011

No. 32 AccuDoc Solutions Silverado Team News and Notes

Last Time Out For Blake… Three weeks ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Blake Feese earned a career-best fourth-place finish. Feese started from the 27th position and drove his way inside the top-five by the end of 200 laps. Under race conditions, Feese ranked seventh among successful green-flag passes, making 75 passes from start to finish.

This Week’s Silverado… The No. 32 AccuDoc Solutions Chevrolet Silverado team will unload chassis TMS-017 for Saturday afternoon’s 200-mile event. This chassis last saw action at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, where Steve Arpin started 19th and finished in the 13th spot. TMS-017 also has a pair of starts earlier this season at Martinsville Speedway where Brad Sweet started 18th and finished 15th and Nashville Superspeedway where Sweet started 21st and finished in the 28th position.

Pole For One Pole For All… All three Turner Motorsports NCWTS teams have claimed pole awards this season. James Buescher started from the point position at his home track this past June at Texas Motor Speedway. Additionally, Ricky Carmichael earned his first career pole just two races ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway, while Steve Arpin also picked up his first career pole and set a new track record this past weekend at Chicagoland Speedway.

AccuDoc Solutions… AccuDoc Solutions will serve as primary sponsor of the No. 32 Chevy Silverado this Saturday afternoon at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. AccuDoc Solutions is based in Morrisville, N.C. and provides billing- statement printing and processing to hospitals and hospital-based physicians. The Turner Motorsports marketing partner also adorns the hood of Jason Leffler’s No. 30 machine in several NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events in 2011.

About Blake… Feese got his start racing quarter midgets at the age of 10. He progressed through the winged sprint car ranks over the years winning championships and prestigious races including wins at Knoxville Speedway, Eldora Speedway and the Dirt Track at Charlotte. In 2003, he made the switch to stock cars, competing in the ARCA Racing Series (ARS). In 2004, he partnered with Hendrick Motorsports, winning his first ARS event at Nashville Superspeedway. He went on to earn two wins, two top-five and four top-10 finishes that year. The next year he competed in six NNS races and also made his NCWTS debut at Kentucky Speedway. Following a year running the sprit car circuit, he returned to the ARS in 2007, running a limited schedule and earning one top-five and four top-10 finishes in four starts. In 2009, he made his second NCWTS start at Nashville Superspeedway finishing in the 12th position. Just a few weeks ago he brought home a career-best finish of fourth at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Webb 175 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway will take the green flag Saturday, Sept. 24 beginning at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The race will be televised live on SPEED and broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

Blake Feese on New Hampshire Motor Speedway:

“This weekend will be my first visit to New Hampshire, so I’m going in looking to learn and build on the team’s success as of late. We’re coming off a top-five finish in Atlanta and the team had a great run with Steve Arpin last weekend, so we have momentum and confidence on our side. I’ll rely on my teammates past experiences at the track and look to adapt my own driving style to bring home the AccuDoc Solutions Chevy with a good finish.”

Event Preview Fact Sheet

Event / Date: Fast Five 225 – September 16, 2011

Venue: Chicagoland Speedway – Joliet, Ill.

· This Week’s Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado … Ricky Carmichael will pilot chassis TMS-021 from the Turner Motorsports (TMS) NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) stable in Friday’s Fast Five 225 at Chicagoland Speedway. Built new for 2011, this is the same Monster Energy Chevy Carmichael sat on the pole with and raced to an eighth-place finish two weeks ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The same truck saw action earlier this season at Kentucky Speedway (St. 14, Fn. 16), Texas Motor Speedway (St. 9, Fn. 6), Charlotte Motor Speedway (St. 17, Fn. 12) and Michigan International Speedway (St. 7, Fn. 12).

· Monster Million … This weekend, Carmichael’s No. 4 machine will feature a special paint scheme highlighting the October 15 Monster Energy Cup at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. The Monster Energy Cup will showcase a unique hybrid track, designed by Carmichael and fellow motocross staple Jeremy McGrath, and will consist of supercross/motocross terrain and will have a tremendous motocross-style influence, making it unlike any other stadium race in the world. This track will be the perfect blend of supercross and motocross combined and created into the ultimate battleground. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check and, for the first time ever, $1 million will be paid to a rider that wins all three main events. Fans can register for a chance to win a Monster day with the 15-time AMA National champion during the weekend of Monster Energy Cup at the NCWTS race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

One lucky winner and a guest will enjoy an all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas and spend the day as a VIP honorary pit crew member of Carmichael’s race team at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway followed by a VIP experience at the Monster Energy Cup at Sam Boyd Stadium, including premium seating, a track walk and a behind the scenes look at the live SPEED television broadcast. Carmichael, who will be joining SPEED host Ralph Sheheen and color commentator Jeff Emig on the broadcast, promises that this will be the ultimate fan experience. The winner will receive an autographed jersey from Carmichael and a gift bag from the Monster Energy Cup, including a year supply of Monster Energy drinks. Fans can register at the official website of the Monster Energy Cup: www.MonsterEnergyCup.com.

· RC in the Windy City … Carmichael has a pair of starts at Chicagoland and calls an 18th-place finish a career-best at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval. Over those same two starts, the 31-year-old driver has logged a 13.0 average start, a 23.0 average finish, completed 234 of the 304 total laps run (77 percent) and earned just over $24,000 in purse money.

· Richmond Rewind … In four years of competing in the NASCAR arena, Carmichael didn’t have the chance to compete at Richmond International Raceway until last Friday night. While the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race proved to be a challenge for the 31-year-old driver, Carmichael came away from the race with laps under his belt and clearer understanding of the complexities presented by the tricky, .75-mile oval. He started 27th and finished 26th.

· A Look Back on Atlanta … Carmichael earned his first-career pole position in NCWTS competition, raced up front for a great majority of the Good Sam Club 200 and came away with a rock solid eighth-place finish in the division’s last stop at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

· In a Nutshell … The 2011 season marks Carmichael’s second year competing on a full-time basis and third year overall in the NCWTS. Since making his series debut 59 races ago, the father of twins has gone on to earn three top-five and 14 top-10 finishes. Over those same 59 races, the motocross legend has logged a 15.3 average start, a 17.2 average finish, led 39 laps, completed 91 percent of the laps run and earned just over of $754,000 in purse money.

· Turner Truck Totals … In 17 NCWTS races in 2011, TMS entries have earned 10 top-five and 24 top-10 finishes. James Buescher leads the way with 15 top 10s, including a 10th-place finish two weeks ago in Atlanta where he took over the points lead following his 13th-consecutive top 10 of the season. With the exception of Martinsville, Buescher has finished inside the top 10 in every race in which he has competed in the division this season. Carmichael has logged four top 10s, including a season-best sixth-place showing at Texas Motor Speedway and is 16th in the standings. Blake Feese finished fourth and Ryan Newman was fifth in Atlanta. Mark Martin finished seventh in the No. 32 machine at Pocono while Brad Sweet drove the same truck for the first eight races of the year and logged a pair of top 10s.

· Send in Steve … For the fifth time this season, Steve Arpin will climb aboard the No. 32 Mike’s Hard Lemonade machine for Friday night’s race in Chicago. Arpin drove the No. 32 entry earlier this year at Texas Motor Speedway (St. 4, Fn. 23), Kentucky Speedway (St. 13, Fn. 12), Iowa Speedway (St. 13, Fn. 13) and Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis (St. 19, Fn. 13). Following this weekend, Feese will fill out the remainder of the 2011 schedule in the seat of the third truck in the TMS stable.

· Get to the Point(s) … Carmichael picked up two spots and moved into 16th in the NCWTS driver point standings following his fourth top-10 finish of the season two weeks ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He’s now just two points outside the top 14 and 34 behind 12th-place Nelson Piquet Jr. Buescher assumed the points lead after his 10th-place showing in Atlanta and currently paces second-place Johnny Sauter by a handsome 12-point margin. While Arpin has made just four starts in 2011, the No. 32 machine is assured a spot on the starting grid by virtue of being 16th in the NCWTS owner point standings.

· Welcome Aboard … Turner Motorsports and Monster Energy are pleased to feature Thorntons on the lower-rear quarter panels of the No. 4 Monster Energy Silverado Friday night at Chicagoland. Thorntons Inc. is a leading, independent gasoline/convenience-chain retailer, marketing throughout the Midwest under the brand name Thorntons. Thorntons Inc. ranks No. 250 among Forbes magazine’s 500 largest privately held companies. Headquartered in Louisville, Ky., Thorntons operates over 160 gasoline and convenience stores including one travel plaza, eight car washes and ranks as one of Kentucky’s largest privately held companies with over $1.4 billion in annual revenue.

· Nationwide Notes … In 27 NASCAR Nationwide Series races in 2011, TMS-fielded teams have notched three wins, 20 top-five and 53 top-10 finishes. Reed Sorenson, driver of the No. 32 Dollar General Chevrolet, maintained third in points after finishing eighth last weekend in Richmond. Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 31 Brandt Chevrolet, was ninth in the final rundown and held on to fifth in the standings. Jason Leffler was credited with 29th last Friday night but still held on to sixth in points. The drivers and teams of the NASCAR Nationwide Series also head to Chicagoland Speedway this weekend. The Dollar General 300 Presented by Coca-Cola will take the green flag Saturday, Sept. 17 at 3:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The race will be televised live on ESPN2 beginning at 3 p.m. EDT and broadcast on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. Qualifying for Round 28 of the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship will be televised live on SPEED the same day beginning at noon EDT.

· See the Monster Energy Silverado … The Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado show truck will make a pair of stops in the Chicago market this Friday. From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the No. 4 machine will visit Thorntons Store No. 301 – 5900 South Harlem Avenue in Summit.
What are your thoughts heading into Chicagoland this weekend?

“I’m really looking forward to it. We’ve had some good runs over the last several weeks and I expect that to carry over to Chicagoland this weekend. The mile-and-a-half race tracks are my favorite style of race track and that’s where our program has come the furthest. I’m ready to get back after it.”

You’re running a special paint scheme this weekend as well.

“This is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity for two very lucky people, and I’m pumped to be part of it. The Monster Energy Cup is going to be an unbelievable event. Monster Energy and Feld Motor Sports continue to raise the bar with amazing ideas to energize the riders and the fan base. I can’t think of a better venue to hold such an incredible event than in Las Vegas. We’re rolling out the red carpet for two lucky people. Hopefully, we can kick the weekend off with a win in the No. 4 Monster Energy Chevrolet Silverado at Las Vegas Motor Speedway before we head over to Sam Boyd Stadium to watch the best riders in the world race for a million bucks! It’s going to be awesome to showcase that event on our Monster Energy Silverado this weekend in Chicago.”

Hagen will be the latest driver to pilot the No.25 Lauren Briant – Manpower to Horsepower Chevrolet when the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards rolls into DuQuoin for the annual running of the Southern Illinois 100 on Labor Day afternoon.

“It’s going to be an awesome experience! I’ve tested a bunch over the years with numerous NASCAR organizations, but to finally get my first shot behind the wheel is going to be an awesome experience,” said Hagen. “Hooking up with Venturini is a great opportunity – they’re serious about winning and fielding the best stuff week after week.”

Venturini Motorsports with driver, Steve Arpin, won the Southern Illinois 100 event in 2010.

In addition to competing in the Labor Day ARCA event, Hagen will also be driving Sunday night, September 4th at the DuQuoin mile in the USAC Silver Crown Series for the RE Technologies team in the No.99 car.

Darren Hagen

Darren, who signed-on with Venturini during the off-season, is in the midst of an incredible comeback season in USAC after a serious injury (broken back) sustained last November (2010) during an event at Perris Auto Speedway in California. Sidelined for 6 months, Hagen returned to racing and driving duties for USAC Midget team owner, Don Fike and RFMS Racing in April 2011.

Since his return Darren has been explosive, picking up the gas where he left off and earning a combined 8 victories in the USAC national and regional series’.

Focusing on his strong faith and determination, Darren has set records and compiled an impressive list of racing accomplishments. But what is most refreshing about this 25-year-old from Riverside, California is his humility and good nature. He sees himself as part of a team and competes to win, not just for himself, but for his crew and his family.

While he dreams of someday driving a Sprint Cup Car, he knows his goal cannot be achieved without hard work and dedication in his daily life both on and off the track. He strives to lead his life in a way that any team or marketing partner would be proud to be represented by him.

Darren Hagen began his driving career with Go-Karts at the age of 11. By the time he finished his third season, he had won more than 90 races including the So Cal Championship, two Tri C Championships and the California Junior State Championship in Junior Sportsman and Super Box.

In 2005 he made USAC history by becoming the first driver ever to be awarded “Rookie of the Year” for both Sprint and Midget racing in the same season. In 2006, Darren won the “Hut Hundred” National Midget Car race at Terre Haute, and officially became “The Fastest Sprint Car Driver in the World” (2006-2010) by running a lap of 146.145 mph at Iowa Speedway. Darren held the prestigious title for 4 years until Shane Hmiel broke his record in May of 2010.

Collecting more hardware along the way, Hagen won the 2010 USAC National Midget Car Series Pavement Championship, feature winner at Toledo in the USAC National Midget Car Series, winner at Belle-Clair Speedway in the POWRi National Midget Series, swept the Gold Crown Midget Nationals at Tri-City (highest paid midget race of 2010) and won his Preliminary Night feature at the 2010 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals.

Practice for the 16th race of the 19-event 2011 ARCA Racing Series season will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell following at 11 a.m. and the 100-lap, 100-mile race going off at 1 p.m. The Southern Illinois 100 is the second of two dirt mile events on this season’s schedule. All times are Central Daylight, and ARCARacing.com will feature live timing and scoring coverage and live audio coverage of all on-track events.
