Sparta, WI, October 6, 2010 – It’s going to be a busy race weekend for Tim Schendel and his Iron Eagle Race team. They head to Schendel’s “home track,” the LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway, in West Salem, WI for the 41st annual Oktoberfest weekend, October 7 – 10.
The weekend is always a favorite of Schendel’s — he has won the Oktoberfest race twice before and is looking to add another trophy to his case this year! He’ll be racing three of the four days, in the Trickle 99 on Friday, the ASA Late Model North Series on Saturday and in the ASA Midwest Tour championship race on Sunday.
A four-day event beginning Thursday, October 7, Oktoberfest is dubbed as THE race event of the season, attracting over 500 cars and featuring over 800 laps of racing. It brings in thousands of fans from across the Midwest, and over 1,000 of them have camper trailers in tow!
“This is definitely one of my favorite events of the season.” Schendel said. “It’s close to home and always attracts a lot of family and fans who come out to support the team. This year we will be racing in three races. We’ve spent a lot of time in the garage these past few weeks trying to figure out and to fix what has been plaguing us all season. I’m hoping it all pays off at the end of the race!”
Schendel will be racing in the “Trickle 99” on Friday night. The “Trickle 99” is spread out in three sessions of thirty three laps each.
Saturday night, Schendel will be entering the ASA Late Model North Series with a brand new late model car built and owned by Beloit, WI native Steve Strasburg. The No. 36 Chevrolet will be sponsored by Race Car Help, also owned by Strasburg.
“I’m so grateful to Steve for allowing me the opportunity to drive his brand new #36 Chevrolet.” Schendel said. “It’s a great car and I know a lot of time and hard work went into it. I’m looking forward to a good race and a good finish with it.”
Sunday marks the last race of the season for the ASA Midwest Tour. The 100 lap race will not only name the Oktoberfest champion, but will also determine the 2010 ASA Midwest Tour champion. Currently, Steve Carlson and Chris Wimmer sit one and two respectively in overall series points, but only two points separate them. Schendel sits in sixth place in overall points.
Schendel will be behind the wheel of the No. 21 TexPar Energy Chevrolet both Friday and Sunday night. “TexPar Energy has been a great sponsor for us this year.” Schendel said from the garage. “Their offices, as well as many of my other sponsors – Marr Promotions, Shades Body Studio, The Rite Spot and all the others, are only fifteen minutes down the road from the racetrack. I would love to put a car with so many local business’ names on it in winner’s circle!”
In addition to TexPar Energy, Schendel is sponsored by Cote Construction, Shades Body Studio, Leo’s Upper Dells Bar, Tim Neubauer Trucking, The Rite Spot, Wehr’s Machine, Wehr’s Chevrolet, Ripp Distributing, Bolden Bros. Masonry, Dean’s Satellite, Evans Printing, Fastax, Klotz Lubricants, Tesar Engineering, Festival Foods in Mauston and Marr Promotions .
