November 19, 2011

No. 30 ‘Bienvenidos a NASCAR’ Chevrolet News and Notes

Turner Motorsports welcomes Nelson Piquet Jr. … Turner Motorsports is pleased to welcome NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) standout Nelson Piquet Jr. to the seat of the No. 30 Chevrolet for this weekend’s Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Piquet Jr. made his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut at Watkins Glen International in 2010. In his lone NNS start, the Brazil native brought home a seventh-place finish after qualifying in the 10th position.

NCWTS notes… As Piquet Jr. prepares for his first NNS race of 2011, the 26-year-old is wrapping up his rookie pursuit for the NCWTS championship. Over the course of 24 starts this season, he has captured five top-five and nine top-10 finishes, leading 52 laps along the way. He sits 10th in the championship point standings and is just five markers down in the fierce battle for the series’ Rookie of the Year honors.

Calling the shots… This weekend, Piquet Jr. will work with veteran crew chief Stewart Cooper. Cooper has worked with several drivers in 2011 including Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Boris Said, James Buescher and Ricky Carmichael.

This week’s Impala… The No. 30 team will round out the 2011 season this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway hitting the track with chassis TMS-310. This chassis made its debut at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where Kahne drove it to a fifth-place finish after starting in the seventh spot. Buescher also piloted TMS-310 two weeks ago at Texas Motor Speedway, finishing in the 17th spot.

Bienvenidos a NASCAR… In support of NASCAR’s ‘Bienvenidos a NASCAR’ program, Piquet Jr.’s No. 30 Chevrolet will sport a special program decal this weekend. In addition to decals on entries in all three of NASCAR’s top series, the program will provide bilingual brand ambassadors, virtual garage tours and guidebooks of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage. There will be a Spanish language broadcast available via scanner (via ESPN Deportes), as well as ‘Bienvenidos a NASCAR’ ticket packages though Homestead-Miami Speedway and a Chino y Nacho pre-race concert on Sunday, Nov. 20th at 12 p.m. at the Coca-Cola Stage.

Turner Motorsports: A look back… In 33 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 21 top-five and 62 top-10 finishes. Mark Martin kicked off the season capturing the team’s first-ever NASCAR win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March. It was Justin Allgaier’s turn in June when he nabbed his second-career win at Chicagoland Speedway and Reed Sorenson rounded the month out winning his first NNS race with the organization at Road America. Both of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-10 in the driver point standings with Allgaier in third and Jason Leffler in sixth.

In 24 NCWTS races in 2011, Turner Motorsports’ entries have earned 13 top-five and 31 top-10 finishes. The organization has earned five pole awards with Buescher earning three, and Carmichael and Steve Arpin capturing one each. Buescher is currently sitting third in the championship point standings, 28 markers out of the lead.

Nelson Piquet Jr. on racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series

“I am really excited to have the opportunity to get in the Nationwide car for Turner Motorsports this weekend. I have never done double duty before, so I am really looking forward to it. It is going to be a lot of seat time, more then I have ever done before in one weekend. I want to thank Steve Turner for giving me the opportunity to get in one of his cars, and I am looking forward to bringing home a solid finish in the No. 30 machine.”

No. 30 Exide Chevrolet News and Notes

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) notes… James Buescher is having a career-year in his full-time pursuit for the NCWTS championship. He has collected 10 top-five and 19 top-10 finishes in 23 starts, finishing outside the top-10 on only four occasions. He has captured two pole awards and led 208 laps. He is currently third in the championship point standings, 28 points behind leader Austin Dillon with one race left on the schedule.

Calling the shots… For his limited run in the Nationwide Series, Buescher will work with veteran crew chief Stewart Cooper. Cooper has worked with several drivers in 2011 including, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Boris Said and Ricky Carmichael.

Turner Motorsports: In the Hunt… In 32 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 21 top-five and 61 top-10 finishes. Both of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-10 in the driver point standings with Justin Allgaier tied for third and Jason Leffler in sixth.

By the numbers – NNS… This weekend’s race at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) will mark Buescher’s 10th NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start of the 2011 season. In his previous nine starts he is credited with one top-five and three top-10 finishes. In 32 total series starts, he has claimed two pole awards, one top-five and five top-10 finishes.

This week’s Impala… The No. 30 Exide team will hit the track with chassis TMS-124 this weekend at PIR. This chassis last saw track action at Michigan International Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway.

James Buescher on heading to PIR

“It’s going to be great to get out on the ‘new’ Phoenix International Raceway. This will be the first time I’ve been on the track since it has been repaved, and I am excited to get out there and experience it. With all the changes to the track, we won’t be able to rely on notes from previous races. The extended practice day on Thursday will be very beneficial. We can perfect the handling on the car and I will have a chance to get seat time and get acclimated to the track. I’m excited to get more time in the Nationwide car this weekend, and I am looking forward to bringing home a strong finish in this Exide Batteries Chevrolet.”

Kahne is no stranger to Charlotte Motor Speedway’s victory lane… In 17 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS), Kahne has one win and one pole to his credit in addition to four top-10 finishes with 140 laps led. Kahne has seen even more success at Charlotte in Sprint Cup Series competition with a total of four wins under his belt. In 2006, he swept both the spring and fall events at CMS and in 2008 won his second Coca-Cola 600. Also in 2008, Kahne was the recipient of the Sprint Fan Vote which made him eligible for the final transfer spot for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. Kahne started the race from 24th position and raced his way to the front to lead the final 17 laps and take home the $1-million prize.

Who’s on the pit box? Stewart Cooper will call the shots for Kahne and serve as crew chief for the No. 38 Great Clips team in the eight races that he is behind the wheel. Note that when Kahne drives the No. 38 machine, the team uses the No. 30 team’s radio frequency – 460.8875.

This week’s Impala… The Great Clips team will unload chassis TMS-128 this weekend at CMS. This chassis last saw track time at Dover International Speedway where Kahne started seventh and finished fourth.

Turner Motorsports in the hunt… In 30 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 21 top-five and 58 top-10 finishes. Both of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-10 in the driver point standings with Justin Allgaier in fifth and Leffler in sixth.

Get ready for the “Five Kahne” … The second annual Kasey Kahne Foundation “Five Kahne” will take place on the streets of uptown Charlotte, N.C. on Sunday, Oct. 16th. Kahne started the 5K charity run last year in hopes of building an annual event to generate funds for youth causes. Through a partnership with the NC STEM Community Collaborative, proceeds from the run will fund grants for educational field trips to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Happy 10-Year Anniversary, Great Clips… This season marks Great Clips’ 10-year anniversary as a primary sponsor in the NNS. The Minneapolis-based Great Clips, Inc., which is currently the longest-running primary sponsor in the series, came onto the scene in 2001 as a primary sponsor of Akins Motorsports No. 38 entry, then driven by Christian Elder.

Leffler on SIRIUS’ Morning Drive every Wednesday… Don’t forget to tune in to SIRIUS Radio’s “Morning Drive” with Mike Bagley and Pete Pistone every Wednesday at 10:30am to hear Leffler’s take on recent events in the Nationwide Series and what you can expect from the week’s upcoming race.

“One of the keys to success at Charlotte is that you have to be able to run anywhere on the race track. Your car has to turn really good at certain areas on the track and the front-end has to be in the track. I have a lot of faith in this Turner Motorsports team and never doubt that they are going to give me a good car to race. I work really well with Stewart Cooper (crew chief) and feel like we are just a small step away from getting this Great Clips Chevrolet back into victory lane.”

No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet News and Notes

- Kasey Kahne at Dover International Speedway, by the numbers… In 11 NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Dover International Speedway (DIS), Kahne has one pole to his credit in addition to two top-five and five top-10 finishes. He has finished outside of the top-20 on only two occasions. Additionally, he has an average start of 11.5 and an average finish of 11.8 with a total of 63 laps led.

- Who’s on the pit box? Stewart Cooper will call the shots for Kahne and serve as crew chief for the No. 38 Great Clips team in the eight races that he is behind the wheel. Note that when Kahne drives the No. 38 machine, the team uses the No. 30 team’s radio frequency – 460.8875.

- This week’s Impala… The Great Clips team will unload chassis TMS-128 this weekend at DIS. This is a brand new chassis in the Turner Motorsports stable.

- Turner Motorsports: In the Hunt… In 28 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 20 top-five and 54 top-10 finishes. All three of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-six in the driver point standings with Reed Sorenson in third, Justin Allgaier in fifth and Leffler in sixth.

- Get ready for the “Five Kahne” … The second annual Kasey Kahne Foundation “Five Kahne” will take place on the streets of uptown Charlotte, N.C. on Sunday, Oct. 16th. Kahne started the 5K charity run last year in hopes of building an annual event to generate funds for youth causes. Through a partnership with the NC STEM Community Collaborative, proceeds from the run will fund grants for educational field trips to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

- Happy 10-Year Anniversary, Great Clips… This season marks Great Clips’ 10-year anniversary as a primary sponsor in the NNS. The Minneapolis-based Great Clips, Inc., which is currently the longest-running primary sponsor in the series, came onto the scene in 2001 as a primary sponsor of Akins Motorsports No. 38 entry, then driven by Christian Elder.

- Leffler on SIRIUS’ Morning Drive every Wednesday… Don’t forget to tune in to SIRIUS Radio’s “Morning Drive” with Mike Bagley and Pete Pistone every Wednesday at 10:30am to hear Leffler’s take on recent events in the Nationwide Series and what you can expect from the week’s upcoming race.

“The key is having a car that can still handle well 30-40 laps into a run and staying out of trouble. Dover is an easy place to get in trouble. It’s definitely one of the more mentally and physically demanding tracks that we go to. I’m looking forward to another race with the Great Clips team this weekend. Stewart Cooper (crew chief) and I work together well and all of those guys just do a great job preparing race cars. We have had some strong runs this year but zero luck to go along with it. Hopefully we can get turned around this weekend at Dover.”

No. 30 Rexall Chevrolet News and Notes

Rexall welcomes back Kasey Kahne… Kasey Kahne will make his second start with primary sponsor Rexall this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. This will mark Kahne’s seventh start of the season for Turner Motorsports this season. Next up, Kahne will compete in two more races for the team at Dover International Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Familiar voice on the radio… The No. 30 Rexall crew is the same team Kahne works with when he jumps behind the wheel of Turner Motorsports’ No. 38 entry. Under Stewart Cooper’s guidance this season, Kahne has earned two top-five and three top-10 finishes, leading 43 laps along the way.

Dollar General 300 powered by Coca-Cola… Longtime Turner Motorsports partner, Dollar General, will serve as title sponsor of this weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) event at Chicagoland Speedway. Dollar General will also serve as title sponsor of the October NNS event at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage.

Chicagoland Speedway: by the numbers… In six NNS starts at Chicagoland Speedway, Kahne has one top-five and one top-10 finish.

Turner Motorsports: In the Hunt… In 27 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 20 top-five and 53 top-10 finishes. All three of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-six in the driver point standings with Reed Sorenson in third, Justin Allgaier in fifth and Jason Leffler in sixth.

This week’s Impala… The No. 30 Rexall team will hit the track with chassis TMS-124 this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. This chassis has seen track action several times this season at Texas Motor Speedway, Darlington Raceway, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Michigan International Speedway.

Kasey Kahne on racing at Chicagoland Speedway

“I am looking forward to running in the Nationwide Series again this weekend. It’s fun to get a chance to run these races because we don’t worry about points, we are out for the win. I know we are close to getting to victory lane with these Turner Motorsports guys and hopefully we can do it this weekend in the No. 30 Rexall Chevy. Chicagoland is a great 1.5-mile track where you can run the bottom and middle groove. Recently, a lot of these Nationwide races have come down to fuel mileage and it wouldn’t be surprising to see it come down to that again this weekend.”

No. 30 AccuDoc Solutions Chevrolet News and Notes

In the driver’s seat… After a short, one-week hiatus from the seat of the No. 30 machine, ARCA Racing Series graduate, Mikey Kile, will return to the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) this weekend at Iowa Speedway. In 28 ARCA Racing Series starts in 2009 and 2010, Kile boasts one win, eight top-five and 19 top-10 finishes. He captured two pole awards in 2010 and has led a total of 183 laps. Kile has made four NNS starts this season with two top-15 finishes.

Transition to NNS… As he makes his transition into the Nationwide Series with a limited schedule, Kile has had some impressive runs with the No. 30 team. Three weeks ago at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Kile posted fast practice speeds before bringing home a solid 16th-place result. Then, two weeks ago at Nashville Superspeedway, he one-upped that finish by bringing home his series career-best finish of 15th.

This week’s Impala… The No. 30 AccuDoc Solutions team will unload chassis TMS-119 this weekend at Iowa Speedway. This is the same chassis Reed Sorenson piloted at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Auto Club Speedway and Kentucky Speedway.

No. 30 team: On a roll… The Stewart Cooper led AccuDoc Solutions team is heading to Iowa with some serious momentum. The team is coming off of a hard-fought second-place finish with James Buescher last weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway. This season the team, who moonlights as the No. 38 Great Clips crew for the eight events Kasey Kahne pilots the entry, has collected three top-five and seven top-10 finishes. The group has worked with several different drivers on a limited basis including Kile, Buescher and Kahne as well as Sprint Cup Series veteran Ryan Newman, NNS championship contender Sorenson and 15-time AMA champion Ricky Carmichael.

Turner Motorsports: In the hunt… In 21 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 19 top-five and 44 top-10 finishes. All three of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-six in the driver point standings with Sorenson in second, Justin Allgaier in fourth and Jason Leffler in sixth.

“I am really excited about getting back behind the wheel of the AccuDoc Solutions Chevy. We have put together two great runs my last two races and I am really learning a lot.. We worked through a lot of adversity to finish 15th at Nashville and I was really proud of the whole team. I know we are going to bring home another solid run at Iowa. It’s a track that I have been to once in the ARCA car, and we practiced and qualified well. Unfortunately, a wreck took us out early, but I had a good feel for the track which should help me this weekend.”

No. 30 Rexall Chevrolet News and Notes

· Sorenson back in the Rexall Chevy… For the fourth time this season, Reed Sorenson will hop out of his usual No. 32 Dollar General Chevrolet to pilot the No. 30 Rexall Impala. Sorenson drove the No. 30 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Auto Club Speedway and Michigan International Speedway earlier this season.

When Sorenson jumps behind the wheel of the No. 30 machine, he doesn’t just change numbers and sponsors, he swaps teams as well. As in his previous events with Rexall on the hood, Sorenson will work with veteran crew chief Stewart Cooper and his team. Cooper and his team also work with Sprint Cup Series star Kasey Kahne when he pilots Turner Motorsports’ No. 30 and No. 38 entries. Sorenson and the Rexall crew can be heard on the No. 30 radio frequency (460.8875).

· Dash 4 Cash winner… Thanks to series sponsor, Nationwide Insurance, and their Dash 4 Cash program, Sorenson is $100,000 richer after last weekend’s event at Daytona International Speedway. Heading into the event as the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) points leader, Sorenson competed with second-place Elliott Sadler, third-place Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and his Turner Motorsports teammate, Justin Allgaier, to be the highest finishing of the four in the Friday night race. Bringing home a third-place finish, he won the six figure prize and qualified for the next Dash 4 Cash event at Iowa Speedway. He will compete with his Turner Motorsports teammates Allgaier and Jason Leffler, and series regular Michael Annett, at Iowa for another $100,000.

· Leader of the pack… Heading into this weekend’s race at Kentucky Speedway, Sorenson is the NNS points leader. He extended his lead to nine points over second-place Sadler and 31 markers over Stenhouse in the third spot.

· This week’s Impala… The Rexall team will unload chassis TMS-119 this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. This chassis last saw track time at Auto Club Speedway and at Las Vegas Motor Speedway where Sorenson brought home 11th and 14th-place finishes, respectively.

· Consistency pays off… In 17 events this season, Sorenson has been one of the series’ most consistent competitors. He is credited with one win, seven top-five and 12 top-10 finishes with only one finish outside the top-15. Sorenson has a 97% lap completion rate, an 11th-place average starting spot and an 8.6 average finishing position. He has led 85 laps and never fallen outside the top-five in the championship point standings. He has now led the point standings for three consecutive weeks.

· Feed the Children… In support of the title sponsor of this weekend’s race and Speedway Children’s Charities, Sorenson will join several Nationwide Series drivers to take part in a food distribution at Warsaw High School in Warsaw, Kentucky on Thursday before hitting the track in the No. 30 Rexall Chevy. The group will be providing 400 pre-identified families in need each with 25 pounds of non-perishable food, a box of personal care items and a bonus box of Avon products. Over the course of the afternoon, Feed the Children will distribute approximately 20,000 pounds of food and products.

· Kentucky Speedway: by the numbers… In three NNS starts at Kentucky Speedway, Sorenson has two top-five finishes. He has an average starting spot of six and finishing position of 16. In last year’s event at the track, he led 49 laps before bringing home a fifth-place finish.

· Turner Motorsports welcomes back Rexall… After making their NASCAR debut last season, Turner Motorsports is pleased to continue their marketing partnership with Rexall. After one hundred years, the Rexall brand continues its commitment to providing affordable and high quality products to consumers, which is the foundation for its success. Standing the test of time, Rexall has built a rich heritage of making life a little healthier one day at a time. More than 280 Rexall products are available only at Dollar General across first aid, cough and cold, over-the counter medicines, children’s medicines and vitamin and supplements.

Reed Sorenson on heading to Kentucky Speedway

“This weekend’s race holds special significance for me. I would love to say I got the win in the Feed the Children 300. I have a golf tournament every year in Georgia before we race at Atlanta that benefits Speedway Children’s Charities, so I obviously support the cause we are racing for. I hope the momentum from the win at Road America and third-place finish at Daytona carries over to this week. Kentucky has always been a great track for me as we almost got the win here last season. I am excited to go back with this No.30 Rexall team and compete for my second win this season.”

(June 15, 2011) – Ricky Carmichael will make his 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut in the cockpit of Turner Motorsports’ No. 30 Monster Energy Chevrolet Impala in the Bucyrus 200 Presented by Menards at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.

In addition to his duty at the division’s second-annual stop at the at the famed 4.048-mile, 14-turn road course, the 31-year-old driver will also pilot the No. 30 Monster Energy-sponsored entry at Daytona International Speedway on July 1, Richmond International Raceway on September 9 and at Phoenix International Raceway on November 12. Veteran Turner Motorsports crew chief Stewart Cooper will call the shots for Carmichael’s debut in the No. 30 machine.

The 15-time American Motocross Association (AMA) National Champion made his first career Nationwide Series start last October at Kansas Speedway where he started 12th and finished 18th. In four NNS races last season, Carmichael earned one top-20 finish, logged a 26.8 average start, a 26.2 average finish and completed 83 percent of the laps run over those four starts.

The Bucyrus 200 presented by Menards will mark his first road course race in Nationwide Series competition. In two NASCAR Camping World East Series road course races in 2008, Carmichael finished ninth and 12th, respectively at Watkins Glen International and Lime Rock Speedway.

“I’m obviously excited about running more Nationwide Series races with Monster Energy and Turner Motorsports,” said Carmichael. “Steve Turner is one of my biggest supporters and has given me a tremendous opportunity. The biggest thing I’m looking for out of these four races is seat time. My goal is to move up and race in the Nationwide Series full time so this is a great chance for me to get some track time and better familiarize myself with the car. It is going to be a fun four races and hopefully we’ll have some good runs in the No. 30 Monster Energy Chevy.”

Carmichael is currently in his third season overall and second full-time, competing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. In 52 Truck Series’ starts, the Tallahassee, Fla., resident has earned three top-five and14 top-10 finishes, led 38 laps and is currently 12th in points. He finished sixth in the division’s most recent stop at Texas Motor Speedway.

“Ricky has an incredible upside and we want to give him every opportunity to move up to the next level,” explained Turner Motorsports owner Steve Turner. “I think a lot of people forget that Ricky hadn’t driven anything like a stock car until four years ago and he’s competing at a very high level against drivers who are much more experienced in this particular discipline of racing. We knew from the very beginning that Ricky’s learning curve would be steep but we also have a great deal of confidence in him. I expect him to rise to the occasion with this program.”

Monster Energy and Carmichael have been synonymous since 2005 when the Corona, Calif.,-headquartered company signed on to sponsor the winningest rider in Supercross and Motocross history for the Anaheim Supercross. Since then, the rise in popularity of both the driver and sponsor continue to reach new heights.

“Ricky Carmichael is a ‘Monster Man’ and we always know he is going to give 100 percent to win,” commented Mitch Covington, Athlete Development and Special Projects, Monster Energy.” Just like in his Motocross career, Ricky always puts a lot into preparing to win and then has the heart and determination to hang it out. We enjoy being a part of his program and look forward to his 2011 debut in the Nationwide Series at Road America”.

The Bucyrus 200 Presented by Menards from Road America will take the green flag Sat., June 25at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The race will be televised live on ESPN beginning at 5 p.m. EDT and broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

KASEY KAHNE QUICK FACTS

No. 30 Rexall Chevrolet Impala

Top Gear 300

Charlotte Motor Speedway

May 28, 2011

No. 30 Rexall Chevrolet News and Notes

· Rexall welcomes Kasey Kahne… This weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS), Kasey Kahne will make his debut in the No. 30 Rexall Chevrolet. Kahne’s Turner Motorsports teammate, Reed Sorenson, has made two starts this season in the Rexall Impala with 11th and 14th-place finishes at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Auto Club Speedway, respectively.

· Familiar voice on the radio… The Top Gear 300 marks Kahne’s first start in the No. 30, but not his first Nationwide Series run with veteran crew chief, Stewart Cooper. The No.30 Rexall crew is the same team Kahne works with when he jumps behind the wheel of Turner Motorsports’ No. 38 entry. Under Cooper’s guidance this season, Kahne has earned one top-five and two top-10 finishes, leading 43 laps with a 100% lap completion rate.

· Kahne knows his way to victory lane at CMS… In 16 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) starts at CMS, Kahne has one pole award and one victory to his credit. He has collected one top-five and four top-10 finishes, and has led a total of 140 laps. Kahne is also credited with three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins at CMS.

· One year ago… Last year’s Spring Charlotte race was an exciting one for Kahne and the team he will again work with in this year’s in the event. Starting from the fifth spot, Kahne was dominating the field, leading for a total of 29 laps, before an alternator issue took him out of contention for the win. He was forced to relinquish his 11-second lead on the field to come to pit road where his crew could change the battery in his No. 38 machine. Adding insult to injury, the team was forced to come to pit road for a second battery change before the problem was worked out. The issue relegated him to a 26th-place finish, four laps down to the race winner.

· This week’s Impala… The No. 30 Rexall team will hit the track with chassis TMS-124 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Kahne has raced this chassis twice this season, bringing it home to an 11th-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway in April and a seventh-place finish Darlington Raceway in May.

Kasey Kahne on racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway

“One of the keys to success at Charlotte is that you have to be able to run anywhere on the race track. Your car has to turn really good at certain areas on the track and the front-end has to be in the track. I have a lot of faith in this Turner Motorsports team and never doubt that they are going to give me a good car to race. I work really well with Stewart Cooper (crew chief) and this entire crew and feel like we are really close to bringing home a win. Last year at Charlotte, we easily had the best car on track and even had an 11-second lead on the field, but experienced an alternator problem which ruined our day. I am confident when this Rexall team unloads this weekend, we are going to have just as good, if not better of a car, and be able to contend for the win.”

May 20th, 2011

Charlotte By the Numbers… Brad Sweet has one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start at Charlotte Motor Speedway prior to this weekend’s North Carolina Education Lottery 200. The young Chevy driver competed in the NCWTS event last May where he qualified 20th and finished in the 21st position.

On the Box… Stewart Cooper will be calling the shots from a top of the No. 32 Great Clips pit box during Friday’s NCWTS event. Cooper will pull double-duty this weekend as he will head to Iowa Speedway following Friday evening’s race to reassume his crew chief duties for the No. 30 FOE Chevy which will be piloted by James Buescher.

This Week’s Silverado… The No. 32 Great Clips Chevrolet Silverado team will unload chassis TMS-007 at NASCAR’s home track for Friday evening’s 200-mile event. This chassis last saw track time in March at Darlington Raceway where Sweet qualified 21st and finished in the 36th spot.

A Sweet Fact… When away from the track one of Sweet’s favorite pastimes is playing a round of golf. The young dirt racer’s best score is an 86 and his favorite course is “The Brickyard Crossing” at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Watch and Listen… The NC Education Lottery 200 can be seen live on Friday, May 20th on SPEED. Race coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 90.

“I’m eager to get on the track at Charlotte Motor Speedway this Friday afternoon for practice. It’s a track that I have competed at before and I’m familiar with. Hopefully we can rebound from Dover and bring the Great Clips Chevy home to a solid finish.”

(May 16, 2011) – Turner Motorsports is pleased to announce that longtime marketing partner, Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE), will take center stage as primary sponsor of the team’s No. 30 Chevrolet Impala in two upcoming NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) young-gun, James Buescher, will pilot the Fraternal Order of Eagles Impala, extending his limited NNS schedule, to include both the May event at Iowa Speedway and the July event at Lucas Oil Raceway Park at Indianapolis.

A staple in the Nationwide Series garage, the FOE logo has adorned entries in the series in every race since 2005. Enhancing their racing program in 2011 with a stronger marketing push, the international non-profit organization will hold primary sponsorship in two races, in addition to a feature spot on all of Turner Motorsports’ NNS and NCWTS entries. The FOE colors have proved good luck for the organization’s drivers, with Kelly Bires bringing the FOE entry to a fifth-place finish at Iowa Speedway in 2009. Current Turner Motorsports driver, Jason Leffler, brought the FOE entry home in the runner-up spot at Bristol Motor Speedway last August.

Buescher, who drives full time in the NCWTS for Turner Motorsports, has made four NNS starts in 2011 with his best finish of eighth coming last week at Dover International Speedway. In 27 total NNS starts, Buescher has captured three top-10 finishes and two pole awards. The Plano, Texas-native is thrilled about the opportunity to represent the Eagles.

“I am extremely proud to be able to represent the Fraternal Order of Eagles on and off the track,” said Buescher. “We are extremely lucky to have the support of their more than 860,000 members each week, they are some the best fans we have! The FOE has a great track record as a primary sponsor, two top-five finishes is pretty impressive. I know that with the help of Stewart Cooper [crew chief] and the team, we will bring this FOE Chevrolet home with a solid finish. Hopefully we can get them into victory lane!”

About Fraternal Order of Eagles:

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization, which unites fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills, and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope. The F.O.E. was founded in 1898 by six theatre owners gathered in a Seattle shipyard to discuss a musician’s strike. After addressing the matter, they agreed to “bury the hatchet” and form “The Order of Good Things.” As numbers grew, members changed the name to “The Fraternal Order of Eagles.” Presently F.O.E. membership exceeds 1.1 million, with more than 1,700 local aeries in the U.S. and Canada. Women’s auxiliaries total more than 1,500, with more than 335,000 members. Among its many accomplishments the F.O.E. counts the founding of Mother’s

No. 30 ABF Chevrolet News and Notes

·Double-duty weekend… It’s going to be a busy weekend for James Buescher, who will race in both the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) and the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events at Dover International Speedway. The 21-year-old driver, who is competing for the NCWTS driver’s championship for Turner Motorsports, will pilot the No. 31 Space Coast Center Chevrolet Silverado in Friday night’s NCWTS event and the No. 30 ABF Chevrolet Impala in Saturday’s 5-Hour Energy 200.

·’Monster Mile’ NNS debut… Though he has spent time in the Nationwide Series since 2008, Buescher has never made an NNS start at the one-mile concrete oval. In two NCWTS starts at Dover he has one top-five finish, coming home in the runner-up position last May.

·Calling the shots… For his limited Nationwide Series schedule, Buescher will work with veteran crew chief Stewart Cooper. Cooper also calls the shots for Kasey Kahne, Reed Sorenson and Mikey Kile on a limited basis.

· Buescher: by the numbers – NASCAR Nationwide Series… In 26 NNS starts, Buescher has captured two top-10 finishes and two pole awards. He has an average start of 20.3 and an average finish of 21.3.He is credited with leading 42 of a total 4,617 laps.

· This week’s Impala… The No. 30 ABF team will hit the track with chassis TMS-120 this weekend at Dover International Speedway. This is a brand new chassis in the Turner Motorsports stable.

·Autism Speaks … All four Turner Motorsports NNS entries, along with the Mooresville, N.C.-based organization’s NCWTS counterparts will carry Autism Speaks decals this weekend in Dover. Autism Speaks was founded in February 2005 by Bob and Suzanne Wright, grandparents of a child with autism. Since then, Autism Speaks has grown into the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism; increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders; and advocating for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. For more information about Autism Speaks or ways to donate, visit www.autisimspeaks.org.

·Buescher’s Blog… Each week Buescher is in the No. 30 Impala he writes a blog on TheHotLap.com previewing the upcoming Nationwide race and following the race recapping the weekend’s event. You can read his preview blog on Thursday’s before the race and his recap on Tuesday following the event.

·Start of a new era for Turner Motorsports… The 2011 season marks the start of a new era for Turner Motorsports. The team has expanded in 2011 from a two-truck operation in the NCWTS to become the largest stand-alone multi-series team in NASCAR’s top-tier touring series, fielding three entries in the NCWTS and four entries in the NNS. Three of the team’s regular NNS drivers (Jason Leffler, Reed Sorenson and Justin Allgaier) have been pegged as viable contenders to win the 2011 NNS driver championship.

James Buescher on doing double duty at Dover International Speedway

“It’s going to be a busy weekend, but I’m excited for both races. We had a great showing at Dover in the spring with the truck team and I’m hopeful we can repeat that in both series this weekend,” said Buescher. “They don’t call it the Monster Mile for nothing. Dover is a tough, rough and fast race track. With the high banking, it is very severe getting into and out of the corners. I really enjoy this track. It’s going to be a tough few days but I am excited about getting back into the seat of the ABF Chevrolet Impala.”

No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet News and Notes

· Kasey Kahne behind the wheel of the No. 38 Great Clips machine at Darlington Raceway… In this weekend’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at the famed Darlington Raceway, Kasey Kahne will return to the seat of the No. 38 Great Clips Chevrolet Impala for Turner Motorsports. Kahne drove the No. 38 Great Clips machine from 2003-2005, before becoming a star in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Kahne will drive the No. 38 Chevy in eight races throughout 2011 with Jason Leffler completing the remaining balance of races.

· Darlington Raceway, by the numbers… In eight NNS starts at Darlington, Kahne has one top-five and three top-10 finishes with a total of four laps led. He has an average finish of 12.9 and an average start of 15.5 with zero DNF’s.

· Kahne a recent visitor to Darlington Raceway’s Victory Lane… In March, Kahne captured the win in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Darlington after a dominating performance in which he started from the outside pole and led for 95 laps.

· Who’s on the pit box? Stewart Cooper will call the shots for Kahne and serve as crew chief for the No. 38 Great Clips team in the eight races that he is behind the wheel.

· This week’s Impala… The No. 38 Great Clips team will hit the track with chassis TMS-124. This chassis last saw track time at Texas Motor Speedway, where Kahne started ninth and finished 11th.

· Thanking the Father of Mother’s Day - This weekend is a big one for Turner Motorsports marketing partner the Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE). The international nonprofit organization is credited with leading the charge to found Mother’s Day. Past Grand Worthy President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Frank E. Hering, made the first known public plea for “a national day to honor our mothers” in 1904. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson officially proclaimed Mother’s Day the second Sunday in May and in 1925 Hering was introduced as the “Father of Mother’s Day”.

· Kahne brought Great Clips their first win! From 2003-2005, Kahne and his sponsor, Great Clips, Inc., reached momentous milestones, including capturing Kahne’s first Nationwide Series victory in 2003 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It was also Great Clips’ first win as a primary sponsor. In 2005, Kahne captured his second career win at Texas Motor Speedway before leaving the Nationwide Series to allow more time for his Sprint Cup Series efforts.

· Start of a new era for Turner Motorsports… The 2011 season marks the start of a new era for Turner Motorsports. The team has expanded in 2011 from a two-truck operation in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) to become the largest stand-alone multi-series team in NASCAR’s top-tier touring series, fielding three entries in the NCWTS and four entries in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS). Three of the team’s regular NNS drivers (Jason Leffler, Reed Sorenson and Justin Allgaier) have been pegged as viable contenders to win the 2011 NNS driver championship.

· Happy 10-Year Anniversary, Great Clips… This season marks Great Clips’ 10-year anniversary as a primary sponsor in the NNS. The Minneapolis-based Great Clips, Inc., which is currently the longest-running primary sponsor in the series, came onto the scene in 2001 as a primary sponsor of Akins Motorsports No. 38 entry, then driven by Christian Elder.

Kahne on Darlington Raceway

“Darlington is a track that can sneak up on you. It’s just a really fast track with a good amount of banking. You run right by the wall, every lap. If you lose just a little bit of focus you can get in the wall very easily. Most cars get a famed Darlington stripe on them before the race is over. It’s one of my favorite tracks because it’s demanding, it’s technical and things can happen really quick. My goal these last two seasons has been to take Great Clips back to victory lane and I hope we can get it done this weekend.”

No. 30 ABF Chevrolet News and Notes

·This week’s Impala… The No. 30 ABF team will hit the track with chassis TMS-113 this weekend at Richmond international Raceway (RIR). This chassis is a favorite of the No. 30 team, with an average finish of 3.0 in two starts this season. Ryan Newman raced chassis TMS-113 at Phoenix International Raceway in February, finishing fourth after starting from the sixth position. In its other appearance in 2011, Kasey Kahne drove chassis TMS-113 to a second-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway, leading one lap in the process.

·Back in the driver’s seat… NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) young gun, James Buescher, will jump behind the wheel of the No. 30 ABF Chevrolet Impala this weekend at RIR. The 21-year-old, who is running for the NCWTS driver championship with Turner Motorsports, will make two more starts in the ABF Chevy in 2011 at Dover International Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway.

·Buescher: by the numbers - NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS)… In 25 NNS starts, Buescher has captured two top-10 finishes and two pole awards. He has an average start of 19.7 and an average finish of 21.3.In two NNS starts this season, Buescher has an average start of 15.5 and an average finish of 18.0.

·RIR: by the numbers… Buescher has one NNS start at RIR, finishing 12th after starting 18th in April 2010.

·Calling the shots… For his limited Nationwide Series schedule, Buescher will work with veteran crew chief Stewart Cooper. Cooper also calls the shots for Kasey Kahne, Reed Sorenson and Mikey Kile on a limited basis.

James Buescher on heading to Richmond International Raceway

“I am really excited to race the ‘new’ Nationwide Series car at Richmond. I think a lot of my competition has a leg-up since I haven’t run the ‘new’ car there yet, but I am confident the ABF Chevrolet will be solid. I have some big shoes to fill in the chassis we are running, and I am excited to get it out on the track,” said Buescher. “Richmond is a great track for the fans and we can put on a really good show under the lights. You pick up a lot of speed down the straightaways and then have to slow way down into the corners. With the fast, close racing you have to be really careful not to get caught up in someone else’s mess. We are looking to be there at the end and be in contention with the No. 30 ABF Impala.”

· Home-track Advantage… The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) is heading to Turner Motorsports’ home track this weekend. With the team’s original headquarters in Halletsville, Texas, this is a special track for the organization. Turner’s youngest daughter, Kris, and current Turner Motorsports driver, James Buescher, have both won championships for the organization racing Bandolero cars at the 1.5-mile tri-oval. Buescher captured the organization’s first NASCAR pole award there in the NNS event last November.

· Kahne back in the seat of the No. 38 Great Clips Chevy at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS)… This weekend at TMS, Kahne will make his third of eight scheduled starts of the season for Turner Motorsports in the No. 38 Chevrolet.

· Kahne knows the way to Victory Lane at TMS! In 10 NNS starts at TMS, Kahne has one win and two top-10 finishes. He has led a cumulative 78 laps and has average start of 13.4 and an average finish of 23.0. It was in the spring of 2005, driving the No. 38 Great Clips machine, that Kahne brought home the winning trophy after starting 25th! Additionally, he has one win at TMS in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition.

This race will be the maiden voyage for this chassis, as it has yet to see on-track action.

· Scan it… If you are trying to hear Kahne’s team communication this weekend, remember to tune your scanner to the No. 30 primary frequency (460.8875). When you want to hear Leffler’s communications with the No. 30 Wolfpack Rentals team, tune your scanner to the No. 38 team’s primary frequency (466.9250).

“I really enjoy racing at Texas! It’s a great facility and with great fans! Racing under the lights is just going to add to the excitement, for the drivers, as well as the fans. I’m really looking forward to working with everyone at Turner Motorsports again this weekend. It’s fun going back to the Nationwide Series knowing that you are going to be in equipment capable of winning! Stewart Cooper (crew chief) and those guys work hard to make sure of that. I have one win with Great Clips at Texas (2005) and I’d love to get that No. 38 back into victory lane again this weekend!”
