Gresham Motorsports Park Announces 2010 Race Event Schedule

Headlining the 12-race calendar is a NASCAR Camping World Series East race on Saturday, August 28. The event marks a return of NASCAR to the track which originally opened with a NASCAR Late Model Sportsman (now Nationwide) race in 1967.

Also joining to the Gresham Motorsports Park mix of 2010 events will be two USARacing Pro Cup races. The former Hooters Pro Cup division – a staple at GMP for years when the track was known as Peach State Speedway – will take to the Gresham Motorsports Park high banks Saturday, March 27 and Saturday, October 23.

Not to be overlooked, GMP’s signature event – The World Crown 300 – will return again in 2010 with a new format. The 27th-Annual race will be contested November 11-14 and will feature more bang for the buck with the return of the Super Late Model division as the featured attraction in the 300-lap headline event.

The Pro Late Models will again be a part of the World Crown 300 schedule events competing in a 150-lap main event on Saturday, November 13. That race – which will also have a Truck division feature – is expected to draw a top field of cars including four-time and defending World Crown 300 champion Paul Kelley.

Super and Pro Late Model teams planning on participating in the 2010 World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park are encouraged to enter now as the order for transporter parking, technical inspection, tire selection and qualifying position will be determined by the date which their entry form is received.

Meanwhile, the 2010 World Crown 300 will also feature a full program of Outlaw Late Models and Renegade Street Stocks on Thursday, November 11. The INEX/600 Racing Legends, Bandoleros and Thunder Cars will return the Gresham Motorsports Park quarter-mile oval on Friday, November 12 while the Super Late Models will hit the half-mile with pole qualifying for Sunday’s World Crown 300 classic that evening as well.

The rest of the 2010 Gresham Motorsports Park will feature a mix of Super and Pro Late Model spectaculars. The Super Late Models will make their first 2010 GMP appearance on Saturday, March 13. Additional GMP Super Late Model/local division events are scheduled for June 19, July 17, and September 18.

The Pro Late Model division cars will be featured at GMP four times in 2010. The first event is set for Saturday, April 17 with additional Pro Late Model dates scheduled for May 15, August 14, and October 9.

An open test for all Super, Pro and Outlaw Late Models, Trucks, Renegades, USAR Pro Cup and NASCAR Camping World Series East competitors will be held on Saturday, February 28.
