Christopher Newman / Liberty Tire Recycling / Pinnacle Rubber Mulch / MAKE Motorsports Chevrolet Impala

SHELBY, N.C. (November 16, 2011) – For the Liberty Tire Recycling / Pinnacle Rubber Mulch / MAKE Motorsports team, honoring servicemen and women goes beyond one day. The #50 NASCAR Nationwide Series Chevy, driven by T.J. Bell, will feature a special tribute to fallen soldier and Shelby native Army Staff Sgt. Christopher Newman for Saturday’s Ford 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Newman was killed in action in Kabul, Afghanistan on October 29, 2011 during a suicide bomb raid on a bus. Raised by his grandparents, Earlene and Donald Newman, Christopher graduated from Crest High School in Shelby. He leaves behind his grandparents, wife Amanda and a five year old daughter.

The Newman family is longtime friends of MAKE Motorsport co-owners Mark Beaver and Tracy Lowe and they thought it appropriate to dedicate the #50 machine to Christopher’s memory.

“Our families and the local Shelby community have been touched by the loss of Christopher and the tribute is the least we can do to honor him and those who serve our country to protect our freedoms,” said Beaver. “The entire MAKE Motorsports team appreciates what our sponsors Liberty Tire Recycling, Pinnacle Rubber Mulch, Pro Cal and ETA Logistics, as well as the folks at NASCAR have done to allow us to honor Christopher and all he has done for our country.”

ETA Logistics has donated two flights to Saturday’s Nationwide Series race for Newman’s grandparents to attend and spend time with Bell and the MAKE team. Bell will be carrying a special “Campaign Honor Coin” during his qualifying and racing efforts, and that coin will be returned to the Newmans upon the completion of the Ford 300.

MAKE Motorsports has competed in six NASCAR Nationwide Series races and three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races this season, all with Bell behind the wheel. Bell has competed at Homestead-Miami Speedway three times in NCWTS races with a best finish of 10th (2009).

“As someone who has worked with a variety of military forces and foundations over the years, I am honored and humbled to be driving the #50 Chevy carrying a tribute to Christopher Newman,” said Bell. “Our armed forces are made up of true heroes, and to have the opportunity to qualify into the Ford 300 is important to show the world that we do not forget what they have done for us.”

Andy Lally will race the No. 71 TRG Motorsports Ford Fusion while T.J. Bell will attempt to qualify the No. 77 TRG Motorsports entry into the race.

On the track, Lally, who finished 19th in the spring race at Talladega, is looking forward to returning to the venue in which he earned his best finish this season.

“Restrictor plate racing isn’t something I have a ton of experience with, but it is some of the most fun and exciting racing I’ve ever done. We had our best run of the season here earlier this year and had a tremendous qualifying effort at Daytona in July. I have a lot of faith in our restrictor plate program and am looking for a solid run this weekend. It would be awesome to have T.J. qualify his way into the race so that I can have a drafting partner heading into the race.”

Bell will be seeking to make his fifth Sprint Cup Series start of 2011 on Sunday. The Nevada native holds one career top-10 finish in three career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at Talladega.

“I’m happy to be here racing with TRG Motorsports this weekend. They are a really great group of guys that have put together a phenomenal program. I saw what they’ve done at the restrictor plate tracks this season and it was a pretty easy decision that this was the seat to be in this weekend. It’s with mixed emotions that we’re honoring Dan Wheldon on our No. 77 car this weekend. His loss is tragic, but I am more than honored to celebrate his life on my car this weekend” says Bell.

Wheldon was driving a car numbered 77 when last weekend’s tragedy occurred. His name will adorn the namerail of Bell’s entry.

Andy Lally further commented saying, “I’ve known Dan since 1998 and met him the first week he moved to the United States. We were competing in the same series back then and I knew he was a winner back in England. He proved the same thing here right away and it was obvious he had a great career ahead of him. He was a huge talent and a good person. I will be one of many people paying tribute to him this weekend. I’ll miss him and keep both Dan and his family in my thoughts.”

The team will be honoring the memory of Dan Wheldon in this Sunday’s Good Sam Club 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Wheldon, a former IndyCar Series Champion and Two-Time Indy 500 winner passed away this past Sunday due to injuries sustained while racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Both Lally and Bell raced with Wheldon as they made their way through the racing ranks and will honor his memory this weekend.

The No. 71 team sits in the 35th position of NASCAR’s Owner’s Point Standings with four races to go in the season. The team currently holds a sixteen point margin over 36th.

“We lost a little bit of ground last weekend, but are far from panicking. I have a ton of faith in our program and believe we have everything we need in place to finish in the top-35 for the second year in a row. I’m happy to have Andy and T.J. driving for us this weekend. Both of those guys are tremendous talents who can drive almost anything. Sadly, both of them have a good amount of experience racing with Dan Wheldon and had to deal with the loss of a fellow competitor last weekend. I applaud their efforts to commemorate Sunday’s race to his memory” commented Buckler.

Coverage of the Good Sam Club 500 will begin Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.

(September 23, 2011) - Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR), currently a one-team operation in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), announced today that they have acquired a controlling interest in two of Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) Truck Series teams.

With the acquisition of the No. 8 and No. 33 KHI trucks, ESR will field three full-time NCWTS teams in 2012. The NCWTS driver line up for ESR will be announced in October. The teams will operate out of Eddie Sharp Racing’s current 40,000 square-foot five-star facility in Denver, N.C.

Eddie Sharp

“The timing couldn’t have been any more perfect,” said team owner Eddie Sharp. “We are ready to take this opportunity head on to utilize what Kevin and DeLana have built. It was a marriage made in heaven, because we were ready to move forward at ESR, and this opportunity worked out perfectly. With KHI, you have a turnkey, successful program at the ready.

“I’m excited about the future of ESR, really excited,” Sharp continued. “We’ll have driver and sponsor lineup announcements coming within the next few weeks. To see everything progress with Kevin and DeLana’s help, and the support from Chevrolet, it’s a dream come true.”

Eddie Sharp Racing’s No. 6 truck is currently 19th in NCWTS owner point standings, only 57 points out of the top 12. The team was created in 2006 as Eddie Sharp envisioned his long-term goals as a team owner. The goal was to contend, not simply compete. That desire drove Sharp to obtain a five-star facility, which is what allowed the team to quickly transition from contender to champion.

About Eddie Sharp Racing

While he didn’t have a shot at winning the race and moving on to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star Race, the Nevada native learned a lot for next Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600.

Bell and LTD Powersport will attempt for the series’ longest race in the same car he raced in Saturday night. So while he felt his finish could definitely have been better, Bell chose to look at the bigger picture. “It obviously wasn’t as good as we wanted,” he said. “Yeah, we picked up positions and ran good and passed cars, but people knew we were there. That was the best thing.

“It’s one of those things were you have to be cautiously aggressive with the racecar because that’s our (Coca-Cola) 600 racecar. I didn’t want to drive into a wreck and destroy a good racecar for no reason. We learned a lot and we’re going to take all of that into the 600.”

Bandit Industries was on the car once again and Bell and his LTD Powersport team had the privilege of showing their sponsors what the All-Star Race is all about. “It was probably the most electrifying thing I’ve ever done! It was great having all the people from Bandit Industries there to take it all in and enjoy it and see everything that is involved with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star Race. It was pretty cool.”

Also represented on the No. 50 Toyota was the Megan Meier Foundation (www.MeganMeierFoundation.org), a St. Louis-area organization founded by Tina Meier when her daughter, Megan, committed suicide as a result of bullying and harassment through a popular social media Web site. The Megan Meier Foundation will also be on the car for the Coca-Cola 600 May 29 with Tina Meier in attendance.

MAKE Motorsports Thumbnail

SHELBY, N.C. (May 17, 2011) – T.J. Bell and MAKE Motorsports (MM) are rolling into Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) with two major objectives on their agenda. The team hopes to propel Bell to another career-best performance for the Shelby, N.C.-based NASCAR Camping World Truck Series squad. They also look to give back to the community by visiting the Levine Children’s Hospital and donating space on Bell’s No. 50 Liberty Tire Recycling / Pinnacle Rubber Mulch truck to honor National EMS Week.

The NC Education Lottery 200 will mark Bell’s sixth event with MM, their second race together at CMS. Bell tallied a 19th place finish with MM at Texas Motor Speedway last season. The finish was the team’s best in its six-race history. Bell looks forward to getting back behind the wheel of his No. 50 truck and posting another record performance for MM.

Bell has a career-best finish of ninth-place at CMS, which he has achieved twice, May 2007 in NCWTS competition and in 2004 ARCA competition.

“We’ve only had a few races together, but we’ve already come a long way,” Bell said. “MAKE Motorsports is growing stronger and stronger with each race. I’m really excited about Charlotte. I believe we can improve on our Texas performance next time we hit the track.”

MM and Bell are giving back to the Charlotte, N.C. community this week. Bell is going to the Levine Children’s Hospital on Tuesday, May 17 to spread some NASCAR cheer to the patients. Bell, along with CMS mascot Lug Nut, will visit the children in an effort to brighten their day. Liberty Tire Recycling and All Sport body quencher drink have made contributions through MM to the hospital.

In recognition of National EMS week, which runs from May 15 through May 21, Liberty Tire Recycling and Pinnacle Rubber Mulch are donating a portion of the No. 50 truck to pay tribute to the millions of professionals in the emergency medical service field. The team is also creating a custom two-sided pit board for the race at CMS. One side will honor the men and women who have fallen in the last year. The other side will be fashioned by the kids at Levine Children’s Hospital.

“It’s going to be a special week,” Bell said. “We’ll be visiting the kids at Levine’s Children’s Hospital on Tuesday. Lug Nut and I will do all we can brighten their day. We’ll be signing autographs, taking pictures and talking with the kids, whatever it takes to bring some smiles to their faces.

“Liberty Tire Recycling is donating some of our race truck to honor National EMS Week with a special decal,” continued Bell. “We’ve also got a special pit board that will pay tribute too. EMS professionals are on the front lines and don’t get thanked nearly enough. Hopefully our team will express a small token of our gratitude towards them and all they do.”

Tracy Lowe, co-owner of MM, is a registered nurse and paramedic. Lowe serves as the Assistant Nurse Manager of Ground Services at Carolinas Medical Center. She is excited about the opportunity for her race team to give back to the community.

“This means the world to me,” Lowe said. “I’ve been in the medical field for 21 years now. When we started MAKE Motorsports, one of our goals was to help give back to the organizations and groups that have been so good to us. I’m so glad that we’re able to do that. T.J’s appearance at Levine Children’s Hospital and the EMS decals that we have on our truck are our way of saying thank you. It’s an honor and a pleasure for our team to be a part of those efforts.”

(May 10, 2011) - MAKE Motorsports, a hometown, grassroots team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, is currently busy preparing to make their third start of the 2011 season. The team will next compete at the upcoming N.C. Education Lottery 200 at the 1.5-mile Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway on Friday, May 20. First, however, the team has made special plans to help the community they live, work and race in the Charlotte area.

Looking to raise awareness for the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), the team will make two different appearances the week leading into the races at Charlotte. First, on Tuesday, May 17, team driver T.J. Bell will visit and sign autographs at the Levine Children’s Hospital, which is a part of the CMN. MAKE Motorsports will then have driver T.J. Bell and an ambulance from the Carolina’s Medical Center at the Concord, N.C. Wal-Mart on Thursday, May 19 to help promote their efforts to raise awareness and funds for the CMN. Bell will be signing autographs for all race fans at this location.

Team co-owners Mike Beaver and Tracy Lowe are passionate about teaming with the CMN, an effort especially close to Lowe who also works as a Team Leader of the MedCenter Air at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

“Working at the Carolinas Medical Center, I see the benefits of the Children’s Miracle Network every day at the Levine Children’s Hospital located here,” said Lowe. “Also, working in the EMS field, I have also seen first-hand what the funds raised by CMN have done to greatly improve the health and saves lives of children that come through our path in times of emergencies. This is just something small that we can do to give back.”

The team will also continue to raise awareness during the race weekend by placing the Children’s Miracle Network and the Levine Children’s Hospital logos on the quarter panels of the No. 50 race truck.

“It’s important for us to keep our local communities in mind when we race,” said co-owner Mark Beaver. “And for us to give something back here in Charlotte is great. This is where we call home and the Children’s Miracle Network and Levine Children’s Hospital do great things for our youth in the area. We’re grateful for Pinnacle Rubber Mulch and Liberty Tire Recycling for donating some space on the truck to promote this campaign.”

The team has also partnered with the Ronald McDonald House in Nashville, Tenn. in the past proving they are a team that believes in giving back off the track.

In traditional Darlington Raceway fashion, several cautions littered the 147-lap event and gave Bell several obstacles to avoid along the way.

A tangle in turn one and two just after the drop of the green flag left Bell with a hole in the right front fender after a chain reaction pushed the Pinnacle Rubber Mulch Chevy into the truck just ahead of it. Spotter Mike Skinner saw the damage from the spotter’s stand and suggested the team bring TJ down pit road under the next caution on lap 14 to fix the fender that was causing a slight tire rub.

The MAKE Motorsports crew would continue to make repairs to the fender during the next several pit stops, with coaching from Crew Chief Mike Cheek and Skinner to get the correct patches made up before coming down pit road. The team pulled the fender out as far as it would go during a stop on lap 75, and driver and spotter commended the team for their continued hard work on each stop.

“I have to give you guys an ‘E’ for effort tonight because you have all worked your tails off trying to get this thing going again,” Mike Skinner said over the radio.

A two-truck accident on the front stretch on lap 96 led to a red flag that would pause the field before a restart on lap 102. Heading into turn one, TJ scraped the nose of the Pinnacle Rubber Mulch Chevy on the apron, shooting him up the track and into the outside wall. The Nevada-native held on and kept his truck under control after sustaining slight damage and an infamous “Darlington Stripe” on the right side of the truck.

He continued to log laps mid-pack until leader Kasey Kahne in the No. 18 caught TJ on lap 117, placing the MAKE Motorsports Chevy one lap down. After falling a lap behind the leader, the crew pulled TJ down pit road on the caution that would follow on lap 119. Cheek’s crew gave their driver four fresh sticker tires and some final adjustments to the truck and damaged right front fender, sending him back out into battle to put himself into the “Lucky Dog” position for the next caution.

Restarting just outside the top 20 on lap 122, Skinner relayed to Bell to be smart and keep the fenders on it to stay in position to get his lap back. TJ immediately went to work and stayed tight with the lead pack, avoiding trouble and staying in contention to get his lap back.

Just prior to the final yellow flag for debris with less than ten laps to go, the No. 15 truck driven by Dusty Davis fell behind the leader and became the first truck not on the lead lap, unfortunately taking the “Lucky Dog” position away from Bell. A restart with three laps to go left TJ with no time to make up any more ground, and he crossed the finish line in the 22nd position.

TJ Bell - Photo Credit: John Harrelson / Getty Images for NASCAR

“I’m happy that we came home with the truck in one piece and we’ll have something to work on for the next race,” TJ explained. “The guys worked their tails off to fix this truck every time we pitted and continued to make it better and better each time. Liberty Tire Recycling brought a ton of support to the track this weekend and I can’t thank them and this MAKE Motorsports team enough for the job they did and the truck they provided to me.”

Co-Owner of Make Motorsports, Mark Beaver, was also pleased the race truck came home in one piece after a wild night at Darlington Raceway.

“TJ did a great job staying out of the wrecks and keeping the truck on the track,” Beaver said. “We can’t thank Liberty Tire Recycling, Pinnacle Rubber Mulch, Lilly Trucking, VP Parts Warehouse, Pro Gold Engine treatment and all of our partners that helped us get to this point enough. It was a long night but we’re going to work hard to get ready for the next race with what we’ve learned from tonight.”

Qualifying:

Saturday, March 12, 2011 3:30 PM EST on SPEED

Liberty Tire Recycling and Pinnacle Rubber Mulch Re-visit Site of First Race: Primary sponsor Liberty Tire Recycling and Pinnacle Rubber Mulch will make its second appearance at Darlington Raceway on the MAKE Motorsports No. 50 Silverado. Liberty made its first appearance in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) competition with MAKE in August 2010 at Darlington Raceway, where driver T.J. Bell qualified into the show in the 18th position and drove his way well into the top-ten by the halfway point of the 200 mile event. Bitten by a tire that was cut down from a broken brake rotor, Bell would finish the night in 26th place. After an exciting and solid performance at the season-opening event at Daytona in February, Liberty and MAKE are pleased to be back at the track to continue the momentum.

Last Season at the track “Too Tough to Tame”: While Liberty Tire Recycling and Pinnacle Rubber Mulch made their debut on the MAKE Motorsports Chevy Silverado as the primary sponsor last fall, driver TJ Bell made his first career start at Darlington Raceway as well. A brake rotor failure and cut tire resulted in a 26th place finish for Bell, but only after he had avoided several cautions and maintained his position within the top ten for the 70 laps completed prior to the incident.

“Our finish last year at Darlington didn’t represent our performance and how pleased we were with the truck throughout the first part of the race,” Co-Owner of MAKE, Mark Beaver, explained. “The ‘Lady in Black’ may have ended our day early, but I’m confident we’ll be able to perform well again this weekend and come back with a better finish.”

Riding with a Special Passenger: The passenger side window of the No. 50 Silverado will sport the name of TJ Bell’s long-time family friend, Bob Walls, in memory of Bob’s life. “Grandpa Bob”, as TJ named him, passed away last week and played a big role in Bell’s racing career.

Last Race: Racing himself and the No. 50 Pinnacle Rubber Mulch / Liberty Tire Recycling Chevy into the NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona with a qualifying lap of 51.549 seconds, Bell began the race from the 22nd position. The Reno, Nevada native steadily raced his way to the lead pack and reported to his team the truck was handling extremely well and was content to run at the front with the leaders. He continued to race well within the top ten until he was collected with many other trucks during one of the night’s major accidents on lap 75. Unable to repair the damage to the Silverado, Bell and MAKE went home with a 31st place finish.

Catching up with TJ and MAKE This Weekend: The 30-year-old MAKE Motorsports driver will be calling in to Press Box Radio (Florence, SC stations 98.9 FM, 1230 AM) early Friday Morning at 7:45 AM and will make an appearance on “Dialed In” with Claire B. Lang on Friday evening at 9 PM. TJ will also be signing autographs at the NCWTS autograph session on Saturday from 1:30-2:30 PM at the track. Stay tuned to Twitter and Facebook updates throughout the weekend for more appearances as they arise.

Bell

TJ Bell on Darlington Raceway: “I’m ready to get back to Darlington after the race we had last year,” Bell explained. “MAKE gave me a great truck and I was able to steadily drive to the front with no issues. Unfortunately our hopes for a top-ten finish were dashed when the tire cut down and Pinnacle Mulch Chevy got its ‘Darlington Stripe’, but I’m confident we’ll have another great truck and setup ready for battle this weekend.”

Truck Information: Bell will be taking the controls of MAKE Motorsports chassis #002 this weekend at Darlington Raceway. The truck, named Babe, was purchased during the off-season and will be hitting the track with TJ behind the wheel for the first time this season on Saturday.

Marketing Partners for 2011: Along with Liberty Tire Recycling, several associate sponsors from last season have rejoined MAKE Motorsports for 2011. ProGold Engine Treatment, VPPartsWarehouse.com, Twin Oaks Services South, Dedmon Trucking, All Sport and Beaver Bail Bonds are all on board to support the No. 50 Chevy Silverado this season. A new partnership with Lilly Trucking of Virginia, a company specializing in reliable transportation, was also recently formed.

Liberty Tire Recycling and Pinnacle Rubber Mulch Join MAKE Motorsports: The nation’s premier provider of tire recycling services, Liberty Tire Recycling, will team up with MAKE Motorsports as the primary sponsor for the No. 50 Silverado. Each year, Liberty Tire Recycling transforms 110 million tires a year into recycled raw materials that not only keep those scrap tires out of America’s waste stream, but create useful, eco-friendly products that help create sustainable lifestyles. One of these products, Pinnacle Rubber Mulch, creates safe playground surfaces around the country, as well as durable mulch for landscaping.

Liberty Tire Recycling made its first appearance in NCWTS competition with MAKE last season at Darlington Raceway in August, where driver T.J. Bell unfortunately fell victim to an accident that produced a 26th place finish. Liberty returned for a second start at Texas in November, where Bell rallied to a 19th place finish.

“At Liberty Tire Recycling, the premier provider of tire recycling services in North America, we are pleased to continue our partnership with MAKE Motorsports as the official sponsor of MAKE Motorsports #50 Chevrolet Silverado,” Jeffrey Kendall, CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling. “As leaders in both of our respective fields, Liberty Tire Recycling and MAKE Motorsports are dedicated to helping spread the word about the importance of sustainability and this partnership enables us to do so. Our many innovative products, such as Pinnacle Rubber Mulch, an eco-friendly alternative to traditional wood mulch for landscaping and playgrounds, have helped us demonstrate to consumers that sustainable products can also offer superior performance and aesthetic value.”

First for MAKE, Second for Bell: While this weekend will be the first time in competition for MAKE Motorsports and owners Tracy Lowe and Mark Beaver, it will be the first return trip for their driver. Bell, a seven-year veteran of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), will be making his second Daytona start in the NextEra Energy Resources 250.

“I’m really excited for our first trip to Daytona as a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Team. We’re prepared to make a good run and pleased to welcome Liberty Tire Recycling back as our primary sponsor. They’ve been great partners and we’re looking forward to spreading the word about Liberty’s products to our fans,” Lowe explained.

Marketing Partners signed for 2011: Along with Liberty Tire Recycling, several partners from last season have rejoined MAKE Motorsports as associate partners for 2011. ProGold Engine Treatment, VPPartsWarehouse.com, Twin Oaks Services South, Dedmon Trucking, All Sport, GreenSmoke.com and Beaver Bail Bonds are all on board to support the No. 50 Chevy Silverado at Daytona.

Catching up with TJ: Whether you’ll be watching the Daytona action from home or at the track, you can hear from TJ himself about Daytona and his chances in the Pinnacle Rubber Mulch / Liberty Tire Recycling Silverado. Bell will appear on “Dialed In With Claire B. Lang” on Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128 on Thursday evening following his qualifying run. The show is scheduled to go on air at 7:00 PM EST. TJ will also be signing autographs on Friday from 1-1:30 PM EST at the TEAM Chevy display with is fellow bow-tie drivers, and will appear at the NCWTS autograph session from 4-5 PM as well.

TJ Bell on Daytona International Speedway: “Daytona is always full of excitement, and with the new pavement it should be a good show. We have a new truck and put a lot of hours into making it fast during the off season and I’m proud of the guys and the program we’re bringing this weekend. We’re going to race as hard as we can with the Liberty Tire Recycling Chevy and put ourselves in contention before all 250 miles are complete.”

Truck Information: Bell will be taking the controls of MAKE Motorsports chassis #3 this weekend at Daytona. The truck, named Wilbur, was purchased during the off-season and has raced at Daytona before; qualifying 8th for last season’s event.

As the nation’s premier provider of tire recycling services, Liberty Tire Recycling will team up with MAKE to spread their message in a positive way.

As a part of the sponsorship program with MAKE Motorsports, Liberty Tire Recycling is the official tire recycler of the team and is hoping to spread the word about recycling.

“As leaders in both of our respective fields, Liberty Tire Recycling and MAKE Motorsports are dedicated to helping spread the word about the importance of sustainability, and this partnership enables us to do so. Our many innovative products, such as Pinnacle Rubber Mulch, an eco-friendly alternative to traditional wood mulch for landscaping and playgrounds, have helped us demonstrate to consumers that sustainable products can also offer superior performance and aesthetic value.”

MAKE Motorsports Owners Tracy Lowe and Mark Beaver are honored to welcome the “green” organization back on board as the primary sponsor of No. 50 Silverado.

“I’m really excited for our first trip to Daytona as a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Team. We’re prepared to make a good run and pleased to welcome Liberty Tire Recycling back as our primary sponsor. They’ve been great partners and we’re looking forward to spreading the word about Liberty’s products to our fans,” Tracy Lowe explained. “The fact that NextEra Energy will be sponsoring the race will just add to Liberty Tire’s message to make our planet a ‘greener’, better place to live.”

“We’re definitely happy to continue our partnership with Liberty Tire Recycling and excited to get back to the track,” Beaver stated. “Products like Pinnacle Mulch made from the recycled tires help keep scrap tires out of our landfills and will continue to help our planet in the future. Liberty Tire Recycling has a really positive message and does amazing things with their recycling programs and we’re proud to carry the Liberty Tire Recycling and Pinnacle Mulch colors on our No. 50 Silverado.”

Driver T.J. Bell will be behind the wheel of the No. 50 Liberty Tire Recycling Chevy at Daytona International Speedway. After making three starts with MAKE in 2010, Bell will once again take the controls of the Liberty Tire Recycling Silverado looking to improve on last season’s performance and best finish of 19th.

Bell, a seven-year veteran of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), will be making his second Daytona start in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 on Friday, February 18, 2011. In 75 career starts, the 30-year-old driver has logged 13 top-ten finishes, and has steadily improved his performance while keeping his trucks in contention and out of harm’s way. Returning to the No. 50 ride, Bell is ready to show off the hard work the MAKE Motorsports team has put in during the off season.

“We really started to pull things together at the end of last season at Texas, and I’m ready to see what we can do at Daytona in a couple weeks,” Bell commented. “Daytona is always full of excitement, and with the new pavement it should be a good show. We’re going to race as hard as we can with the Liberty Tire Recycling Chevy and put ourselves in contention before all 250 miles are complete.”

MAKE Motorsports has appointed Tom Buzze as the crew chief to lead the team into competition at the season opener. Associate sponsors ProGold engine Treatment, VPPartsWarehouse.com, Twin Oaks Services South, Dedmon Trucking, and Beaver Bail Bonds are all returning to support the No. 50 Chevy Silverado at Daytona.

Qualifying for the NextEra Energy Resources 250 is scheduled for 6:00 PM EST on Thursday, February 17th, with the 100-lap main event slated for 7:30 PM EST Friday night.
MAKE Motorsports is “going green” this week in more ways than one. First, they will don the Liberty Tire Recycling logo as the green paintout on the #50 Chevy Silverado – in honor of the new Primary Sponsor to NASCAR, the Camping World Truck Series and MAKE Motorsports. Second, driver TJ Bell will only see green in the frontstretch – putting Charlotte’s 27th place finish behind him, after engine trouble called it an early night after 120 solid laps for the team.

Bell Tries to Tame the Lady in Black

Ranked 15th in 2009 with Red Horse Racing, TJ Bell produced 6 top 10 finishes in 25 starts. His average finish was 17th, average start 16th. After seven years of racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, he makes his debut at Darlington.

Sponsors, Sponsors and MORE Sponsors

In addition to Primary Sponsor Liberty Tire Recycling, AllSport Beverages, Jetpool®, ProGold Lubricants & Engine Treatments, Twin Oaks South & newcomer Dedmon’s Trucking join MAKE Motorsports for the Too Tough to Tame 200. Dedmon’s Trucking, based in Shelby, NC, is a last minute associate-level partnership brought together by the hardworking owners of MAKE Motorsports, Tracy Lowe & Mark Beaver.

Lora Dedmon, President of Dedmon’s Trucking, said, “I’m really happy to be a part of a local Shelby-based race operation. Like MAKE Motorsports, we started small and grew our business by meeting & doing business with like-minded people. We can’t wait to race!”

New “Chief” in Town

MAKE Motorsports is enlisting the help of veteran crew chief Kevin ‘Cowboy’ Starland, who will be handling the truck chief duties for the #50 Chevy Silverado. Starland, well-known as crew chief for the #15 Billy Ballew Motorsports truck, has the benefit of working with drivers such as Johnny Benson, Steven Wallace & Nelson Piquet Jr. Crew Chief Scott Weaver said, “it’s a great opportunity for us to work with a very talented truck chief. He knows the different styles & communication patterns of drivers, and Darlington is known for quick changes & tricky conditions. We’re one foot ahead with him on our team.”

Chassis Info:

No. 50 Twin Oaks South Chevrolet: Chassis #001, nicknamed “Porky” by the crew, used previously in the Charlotte, Nashville & Kansas 2010 NCWTS races.

Quotes:

TJ Bell, Driver:

“I can’t wait to get to Darlington – my first try at the Lady in Black. I’m so glad the Series is able to come back here, after six years. The Truck Series is known for side-by-side, close up racing, and Darlington is absolutely made for it. That makes for a very exciting race, a lot of ‘stripes’ on right side-beds, and great action for the fans. This is one race where they will definitely get their money’s worth!”

Scott Weaver, Crew Chief:

“We’re ready to push it to the edge at Darlington, a track known for lots of lead changes through the years. It’s going to be everyone going for it in that last lap, so our pit strategy and communication with TJ will be key.”

VFW 200

June 12, 2010

Feelin’ good … NCWTS rookie Justin Lofton will hit the track this weekend at Michigan International Speedway with renewed confidence. Despite getting caught up in an accident in Texas, Lofton muscled his way from a 16th starting spot to a solid sixth place run before the misfortune took over. Lofton said that his Mark Rette led crew has worked feverishly to find the right feel for him as he makes the transition from cars to trucks. Texas, he says, was the best he’s felt in a truck and his expectations are high now that he knows what he needs behind the wheel. Lofton enters the weekend with a season’s best finish of third under his belt and a 12th place position in the point standings.

Past meets the present… 24-year-old Lofton has a solid history on the two-mile oval that is Michigan International Speedway. The California native scored his first career stock car win in 2008 at MIS behind the wheel of an Eddie Sharp Racing entry in the ARCA Racing Series. Last season, Lofton started from the pole and led 39 laps before mechanical woes bit the tenacious racer. Not only does the track hold memories as Lofton’s first stock car win, but it is also the site of his NASCAR debut. In August last season, Lofton made his NASCAR debut in the Nationwide Series after qualifying for the event on speed. He started the event in 19th and ended the day in 16th.

Inside look… Fans attending activities at Michigan International Speedway on Friday will get an inside look into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series garage and a chance to meet Lofton, along with other NCWTS competitors. MIS and SPEED are hosting an “open garage” from 3 to 5 PM. Lofton will be participating in the open autograph session, signing autographs behind his No. 7 team hauler from 3:30 to 4:30 PM.

Justin Lofton on racing at Michigan International Speedway: “Last week was another week of bad luck for all of us on the No. 7 team. We had the best truck that we’ve had all year so far. I was the most comfortable I have ever been in a truck. I’m really looking forward to Michigan where I’ve had really strong runs before and I am looking forward to capitalizing on what we have learned over the last couple of weeks.”

Crew Chief Mark Rette on Michigan International Speedway: “I’m very excited about Michigan. Justin won there in 2008 in ARCA and we were leading last year in the ARCA Series race before we had electrical issues. Justin knows his way around Michigan and the track seems to suit his driving style.”

Equipment Information: Lofton will race chassis RHR65 in Michigan. It is considered a sister chassis to RHR129, the truck Lofton raced in Charlotte and Texas. Michigan marks the first run for RHR65 this season after being rebuilt following T.J. Bell’s Michigan run last season.

*This is MAKE Motorsports’ third start in 2010, after the Nashville 200 & Kansas O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 (with driver G.R. Smith); and the first start with driver T.J. Bell.

*Driver T.J. Bell qualified 24th on the grid & finished 27th due to a blown engine on lap 120, after making it through five previous race cautions on a slick rain-delayed track.

*Average race speeds were 109MPH during the Charlotte race.

*T.J. Bell has 73 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts since 2003; 3 Charlotte starts; 1 top 10 finish & average finish 22nd.

*The #50 Chevy Silverado team pit twice during the race – first at lap 27 for four tires, fuel & wedge adjustment; second at lap 85 for four tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment; third at lap 115 for top off fuel only.

*Bell averaged 18th position throughout the race, until blown engine; highest place 16th on lap 22 after the second caution of the evening.

*Bell rallied from 27th after a pit on caution at lap 26, to 17th when the engine blew at lap 120.

TJ BELL, No. 50 Twin Oaks South/MAKE Motorsports Chevy Silverado, MAKE Motorsports

Finishing Position: 27th

How was your race?

I felt really great getting back in the seat again. After a successful 2009, I wanted to be able to come back to Charlotte and show that I’m still a super competitive driver. I think I definitely did that. Plus, the #50 team did an awesome job making changes to the setup during practice – they all came out here in their hometown to show that they too were a competitive race team. I’m glad that I can be a part of an ‘underdog’ campaign like this for them.

Are you frustrated with your finish?

Of course I would have liked a top 15 – we raced a clean race with a great truck all night, despite all the cautions flying. Our pits were on point, everyone was doing their job, I was consistent in my driving & not leaving anything on the track position-wise; and I had good communication with my spotter and crew chief. I was ready to rally for that top 15 spot in those last 14 laps, so absolutely it’s frustrating…but that’s racing.

If you don’t take the learning experiences with the good, you’ll never become a better driver or teammate. I would have liked to have brought it home though, I was having a great run. The #50 team owners, Tracy Lowe and Mark Beaver, deserved to have that truck come back in with a clean finish – they’ve done so much this year to start their team, and they have a lot of heart. You’ve just got to keep digging, we did our best.

Was it a long day for you and the crew?

Wow, long day YES. Again, that’s racing. It’s a long day to begin with in Charlotte, with qualifying, driver meetings and race all in the same day. Add rain to that mix, plus some All-Star qualifying, and you’ve got yourself a full 17 hours. It gave me a great chance to get to know my teammates better, work on the setups with crew chief Scott Weaver, and talk to some of my old friends and press in the garage. So in the end, it’s a great day. After all, any day in the garage, hauler and on the track is a GREAT day.

What’s next for you and the #50 team?

I know the no. 50 truck is still working on sponsor partners, with some great news to come, for additional races this year. They plan to come back in Nashville for the August 7th race, plus Darlington, Kentucky and Talladega (all the Super Speedways). I’d like to continue working with them, and you’ll be the first to hear on www.tj-bell.com. Thanks to all my fans on Facebook and Twitter who have been awesome this week, giving me great encouragement at being back in the seat. That’s what it’s all about, the fans and the Series. Thanks to everyone!
