Fans Asked, Encouraged to Donate Online
Running for a purpose, Labonte and Sealy Inc. are encouraging everyone to support this event with donations to the Triad Holiday Challenge Food Drive, which begins on December 1. Donations must be nonperishable food items only. No glass. Sorting by food type (canned meats, fruits, vegetables, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. Canned food donations can be dropped off at Bobby Labonte Enterprises, the Central North Carolina Salvation Army locations or Breaking Limits. Monetary donations will also be accepted online at www.BobbyLabonteFoundation.org.
Those who make monetary donations of $20 or more will receive a replica T-shirt of the jersey Labonte will wear during the half marathon and be recognized at the Bobby Labonte Foundation website.
“This is the time of the season that the Salvation Army needs everyone’s help,” said Labonte. “I enjoy physical fitness and this half marathon was a great way to support them. We want to make sure they’re able to provide meals for everyone in need. There are lots of folks going through tough times now and we want to do everything we can for them to enjoy the holiday season. Hopefully our fans will get together, push me through the marathon and raise of lot of donations.”
The Triad Holiday Challenge is a partnership with local organizations and companies, organized by Sealy, Old Dominion and FOX 8 WGHP, to respond to the needs in our local community.
“Sealy and our community partners are passionate about helping our neighbors in times of need,” said Carmen J. Dabiero Jr., senior vice president of human resources at Sealy Inc. “And this year, more than ever with the state of the economy, we understand the importance of giving and the effect it will have on the Triad area. We are excited to partner with Bobby Labonte and no matter how he finishes in the race, the most important thing is helping our community.”
