CONCORD, N.C. – (April 2, 2010) Tiff Daniels, race driver and mechanical engineer, has decided to step away from her position at Earnhardt Ganassi Racing to focus on her driving career.

Daniels, who has worked as a support engineer on Earnhardt Ganassi Racing’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams for nearly three years, currently on the No. 1 with Daytona 500 winner Jamie McMurray and the No. 42 with driver Juan Pablo Montoya, graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, concentration in motorsports, and a minor in public relations from UNC Charlotte in 2007. After graduating and accepting a position with what was then Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, she continued to race on weekends while using vacation time to travel and compete. However, a full-time job at the highest level in the industry limited the time she needed to advance her own career.

“It was a tough decision,” said Daniels. “I gained so much experience at Earnhardt Ganassi and really enjoyed the people I worked with.

“But I’m also a racer, and I would like nothing more than to be able to compete full time. It takes a lot of time and effort to secure funding and to commit to a race team. I may be crazy to walk away from a full-time job at a great organization with great benefits, but it’s really difficult right now for me to work full time and successfully pursue my passion.”

Daniels most recently competed for Marc Davis Racing at an ASA race contested in South Africa where she finished seventh in the historical event. She has also competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (formerly the Camping World Series East) at tracks that include Dover International Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Watkins Glen International Speedway, the UARA-STARS Series and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at tracks including Martinsville Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway, after much success in Legends Cars and Limited Late Models.

She has participated in the Lyn St. James Driver Development Program, the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine and the Driver Advancement Marketing Summit.

The well-accomplished 25-year-old Smithfield, Va., native also dedicates much of her time to causes that she is passionate about including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports, Victory Junction Gang Camp and Toys for Tots.
