(February 7, 2012) – Frank Kimmel, nine-time ARCA Racing Series Champion and driver of the No. 44 Ansell / Menards Toyota Camry for ThorSport Racing in 2012, is a fixture around the garage. Known to many of the rookies as “the one to ask,” when it comes to learning the ropes, the veteran driver has the experience (and the win column) to back it up. Going into Daytona for his 17th appearance on the famed superspeedway in ARCA Racing, he reflects on what made him the racer he is today.

“The biggest influence in my life on the racetrack, hands down, was my dad, Bill Kimmel, Sr.,” says Kimmel. “Years of working on his cars in his garage – through the 60s. He was an awesome dirt and asphalt racer, and he taught my brother Bill and I both everything we know.”

“He won three races in 1978– and he always had the determination to never give up. The best lesson he taught us was that you just have to finish the race. Prepare the race car the way it should be, get to the track, make the right decisions throughout the event. After all, a guy can have a perfect race and with 20 [miles?] to go, make a stupid mistake. He was a money racer and had to race every lap. Even to this day, that sits with me. We’ll have breakfast somewhere before Daytona every year, and he’ll tell me the same thing. ‘You know what we’ve got to do down there…finish the race. Make sure you finish that race, Frank.’

Kimmel’s racing career may have been shaped primarily by his dad, but these days, he’ll stick to the local tracks to cheer him on in person. “My Dad won’t come to Daytona normally, but he’ll be in Salem and Winchester, plus all the dirt tracks He’s a racer at heart, so we get to hear a lot of feedback! When we don’t run well, he wants to know why, where, who and how. In his mind, we’re the smartest things in the race car. Sometimes I just have to laugh and tell him that we may still have things to learn! He’s super competitive, and I guess I get that from him.”

Frank Kimmel

His own career was shaped by others that first year racing in the ARCA Racing Series. “My very first race was Toledo in 1990 for Jack Wallace – he still does all of our lettering for the internal race cars. We made it by the skin of our teeth – and that was awesome. Bob Dotter, Sr. was a great influence – very smart, understood as a money racer that you’ve got to make the main show. Bob Keselowski, Sr. – a heck of a racer and fought until the end every race. These guys all taught me that you have to understand the purse and the way to make your money. They showed me the ropes of not getting knocked out of the race by stupid mistakes. Benny Parsons was my hero, along with Iggy Katona – they could be in the back of the pack and still get to the top three or four by the end of the day.”

During the 2012 season, Kimmel knows the rookies will find him on pit road to ask questions. “A lot of guys come to me and ask questions throughout the season; what we’re doing, how we’re doing it. This generation of racers grew up focused on the racing side of the business, so it’s always helpful to teach new aspects to them about sponsors and the marketing. I’m super grateful for where I’ve come from, and it’s nice to know I’m respected in the garage. The feeling is mutual – I respect all the racers who set foot on the track next to the No. 44. We’re all blessed.”

For Carter-2-Motorsports (C2M) car owners Roger and Dana Carter, they have shown within the past year how to take a penny and turn it into a dollar – all towards streaming towards the finish line in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.

After a brief sabbatical from racing, Carter-2-Motorsports returned to the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) last year running a limited schedule with car owner Roger Carter stepping up to the role as the pilot of the No. 40 Dodge Charger. Amazingly through some diversity and setbacks, the team on a below-average budget was able to make three ARCA Racing Series starts at Michigan International Speedway, Iowa Speedway and Madison (Wisc.) International Speedway respectively.

While Michigan, where the team just had one car, one motor and a slim volunteer crew and Iowa didn’t exactly go as planned – C2M still was enjoying the scenes of the ARCA Racing Series circuit – knowing that they had a place to call home.

A gratifying 16th place finish at Madison, a career-best for Carter in the ARCA Racing Series had the team building momentum back in North Carolina at the team’s race shop where they poured long hours in hopes of raising their previous standards. For the season finale at Toledo Speedway, the team opted to bring two cars with Carter at the helm of his No. 40 and avid racecar driver Nick Tucker in a second entry, the No.04 Dodge Charger. Despite limited sponsorship for the event, the team managed to post respectable lap times in practice which led to optimism for qualifying. Ultimately, a cost-saving method for the team but a technicality from series’ officials regarding the use of tires bumped both drivers from the starting field after easily asserting themselves a berth into the 35-car field.

Ultimately unhappy with the eventual outcome at the Northern Ohio-race track, the team used the experience to sail into the off-season to step-up their operation and prepare for a much larger presence in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards which begins with the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway (DIS) on Saturday, February 18, 2012.

To prepare for the 60th year of competition for ARCA, the team under the guidance and leadership of Tucker participated in the open test at the 2.5-mile superspeedway in December with a variety of drivers. Based on the outcome of the three-day operation, C2M has casted it’s lineup for next Saturday afternoon’s anticipated thriller.

Leading the team in the No. 40 Ron Paul for President / El Caribe Dodge Charger will be veteran driver Donnie Neuenberger. Despite over 60 starts in three of NASCAR’s divisions, the Brandywine, Maryland native will look to make his inaugural ARCA Racing Series start at the “World Center of Speed.”

Carrying backing from Mariner Bank and Trauma Doc, veteran Late Model driver Larry Barford Jr. will lead the second entry for the Mooresville, North Carolina-based team. The Denton, Maryland native will also make his first start on the high-banks of Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. The ARCA rookie who tested for the team in December will run a limited schedule for C2M in 2012.

The third and final entry for Carter-2-Motorsports in Central Florida will be piloted by Charlotte, North Carolina resident Michael Bockler. The word piloted is fitted for ARCA’s newest face as the driver of the No. 67 Ambucs Dodge Charger retired from a successful career as a pilot to build a presence on the race track. Bockler also tackled DIS two months ago to better equip him towards making the starting grid for the 43-car field.

“Obviously, we’ve made some major gains since Michigan last year,” said Carter who himself had planned to race in the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 but opted to heed the role as car owner instead. “We could not be more proud of the three drivers we’re bringing to the track. Everyone knows Donnie; he’s a racecar driver whose passion speaks for itself. Larry and Michael are newcomers to the ARCA scene but they will fit in nicely.

With our team and the help of Del and Rich Markle, we’re antsy to get to Daytona and see what we can accomplish. It looks like there’s going to be a strong field of cars, but I feel we’re going to be able to comfortably get all of our Dodge Chargers into the show. That’s how hard we’ve worked.”

Carter, who’s been a fixture in the Motorsports community for nearly two decades continued, “We love being a part of the ARCA Series. We’ve faced some turmoil along the way, but it only gives you the motivation to get back on your feet and make everyone take you seriously. That’s our goal this season. We’ll have our regulars and we’ll have some new faces too, but that is what C2M strives on; giving chances and trying to do a lot with the resources we have to work with. I think when we unload our cars in Daytona; everyone will see just how devoted this team really is for 2012.”

Danny Esposito, a native of Loxahatchee, Florida will forgo his Daytona attempt to concentrate on future ARCA Racing Series events at Salem (Ind.) Speedway and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in April and May. He, will however be on-sight next week to support and gain priceless experience towards the fundamentals of not only C2M but restrictor plate racing as a whole.

The Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (80 laps / 200 miles) is the first of 20 events on the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 49th ARCA race held at Daytona is a three-day show. Practice begins Thursday, February 16 with a four hour practice session planned from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for Friday, February 17 slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. A forty-five minute final practice session is etched in on Saturday, February 18th from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. The event will take the green flag later that day shortly after 4:30 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring and radio broadcast through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local. ARCA, celebrating its 60th season in 2012 is the preamble for the highly anticipated Budweiser Shootout for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) set to ignite under the lights later that night.

Founded in Toledo, Ohio in 1953, the Temperance, Mich.-based company will begin 2012 with a refined business plan and offer new opportunities to increase the level of on-track competition and off-track growth within the racing industry.

“Entering our 60th season, we’ve done some internal alignment to best position ourselves going forward,” said Ron Drager, ARCA’s president and chief executive officer. “Our moves will offer continued stability and a responsible pattern for growth at an important time in our company’s history.”

Drager announced the promotion of Jeff Brehmer to executive vice president and chief financial officer. Brehmer, 47, of Tecumseh, Mich., had been the vice president of finance and administration since joining the ARCA staff on a full-time basis in 2008.

Brehmer’s involvement with ARCA stretches back to the early 1980s, when he sold programs and stubbed tickets at ARCA’s two short track properties, Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways. He advanced to become the tour director for the ARCA Figure-8 Series, and returned to ARCA over three years ago after spending 20 years working in the cement and building products industry.

“Jeff has the best comprehensive base of knowledge across all of our properties, from our on-track racing activities to our business interests,” said Drager. “His experiences in racing and the strong business acumen he has developed over the years make him a worthy leader for many of our efforts going forward.”

Brehmer will directly oversee the business operations of the sanctioning body, including: the flagship ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards; Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways; the ARCA Truck Series; and the newly formed sanction agreement with Champion Racing Association and the ARCA CRA Super Series.

In addition to Brehmer’s promotion, Drager also announced changes in the marketing department, including the promotion of Mark Gundrum to vice president of business development and corporate partnerships. Gundrum, 49, has been the vice president of marketing and communications since 2004, and will now focus more of his time and efforts on business development and sales opportunities.

“Mark’s ability to bring new business opportunities and marketing partners to our company in challenging economic times has been extremely valuable,” Drager said. “Our new structure allows him to spend more time on the sales and corporate partnership side of the business, and with the growth and development of the marketing department as a whole, this is a logical progression.”

ARCA’s director of marketing, George Mergen, will be charged with the added responsibility of public relations. Mergen, a former Ford Racing agency representative who joined ARCA in the spring of 2010, will oversee the marketing and communications department.

2012 will be the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards’ 60th Anniversary Season, featuring 20 races at 18 tracks. The season begins with the Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 18. The event will air live on SPEED.

The complete 2012 event schedule is available at ARCARacing.com.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. The series has tested the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course in its most recent season. This year, the series will visit Alabama’s Mobile International Speedway and Minnesota’s Elko Speedway for the first time; ARCA’s first visit to Minnesota will give ARCA a race in a 29th state.

Founded by John and Mildred Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in three professional touring series and local weekly events.

“Nine-time ARCA Racing Series Driving Champion Frank Kimmel Seeks to Shatter His Own Record with a 10th Driver Championship & Potential All-time Victories Record with ThorSport Racing”

Frank Kimmel

Sandusky, Oh. – (February 1, 2012) – Frank Kimmel isn’t the type to brag. One is more apt to find him out working on cars or tractors on his farm, than in press conferences or slick office meetings. It’s that humility that makes the “nine-time” reference somewhat of a surprise to most fans when it is mentioned. Kimmel is the record nine-time ARCA Racing Series Driving Champion (1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007) and has led 10,177 laps in 191 races- more than any other active driver. He looks to break his own record in the 2012 season with a new team and a new make – ThorSport Racing and the No. 44 Ansell/Menards Toyota Camry team.

To add to the stats pile going into Daytona, Kimmel is the all-time leading superspeedway lap leader with 2,645 laps led in 80 races, and the all-time leading superspeedway pole winner with 20. Kimmel finished as the second-place driver in the ARCA Racing Series in 1994, 1997, and 1999. In 2011, Kimmel finished third in driver points.

One distinct goal Kimmel always walks around with in the back of his mind as a veteran driver: the all-time career victories holder, currently Iggy Katona, with 79. Going into Daytona in a few weeks, Kimmel sits just five victories away from eclipsing the record – at 74. Can he do it this year? He sure hopes so. In his past, 66 of those 74 victories came with a successful partnership with owner Larry Clement. This season, he looks to seasoned veterans at ThorSport Racing – new to the ARCA Racing Series but the longest-tenured team in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series – to hopefully conjure the same magic.

“Every year I get asked what’s important to me to achieve for the season,” said Kimmel. “Winning Daytona is first on the list for me, and it’s important for my entire family. Being the first race for ThorSport Racing, everyone’s working REALLY hard to achieve some wins- period. Daytona would be great and such an accomplishment, but we all know what can happen there. I can honestly remember racing for two years without ever winning at all, and that’s why it means a lot to have 74 wins under my belt now. The first time at Toledo was such a big thing for us. I have a lot to prove this year to win again, since it has been three years since I’ve been to Victory Lane. Iggy Katona is a huge hero of mine; he raced against my dad for years. He’s the man. It’s a privilege to be in the same class of driver as such an ARCA Racing legend as Iggy.”

No stranger to accepting pole awards, Kimmel is excited to see his sponsor, Ansell, as a partnership with Menards; present the pole trophies once again this year. His 42 career Menards Pole Awards comprises just one fewer than again, Iggy Katona – at 43; and he has finished in the top 10 in points in the ARCA Racing Series for an unprecedented 20 consecutive seasons. With 233 top-five finishes and 300 top-10 finishes, he is no slouch to records – those statistics both standing as the records for active drivers.

“Getting the first win is the most amazing achievement. I raced many years with Terry Shirley in the 02 car, and we only won one. When Terry left to be a crew chief, I didn’t have a team to drive for at all. I thought I’d be driving late models. Then I was picked up by Dan Faldorf and got with Larry Clement. We ended up putting a hodge-podge of races together
-MORE-

by the skin of our teeth, and with blood, sweat and tears; we ended up 5th in drivers points and didn’t even go to every race. When we came back the next year and ran full-time for Larry, being manager, driver and everything, we were second in the points, so we kept climbing. Then the following year, in 1998, we won our first championship. It just goes to show that the competition is always so fierce, it takes a lot to get there and it means so much. Every one of my nine championship trophies have people and a great story behind them. In my tenure of ARCA Racing Series driving, every year is a great battle. It’s going to be a lot of fun competition in 2012.”

In a historic 60th season of ARCA Racing, nothing could be more special for Kimmel than driving through the tunnel to Daytona International Speedway as one of the most recognized faces in ARCA Racing Series history. In a year of “star power,” he hopes to not only give the fans a great show, but have some record-breaking moments as he does it. Yet the “star” himself would love to say, he would do it, then enjoy just going home to the farm to work in the barn and be around his wife Donna.

Founded in Toledo, Ohio in 1953, the Temperance, Mich.-based company will begin 2012 with an enhanced participant accident insurance plan.

ARCA president and CEO Ron Drager announced an increase in the insurance coverage for all ARCA-licensed members competing in ARCA-sanctioned events. With no direct increase in ARCA membership fees, ARCA and insurer K&K Insurance Group, Inc. will offer $500,000 in participant accident medical coverage to each license holder, up from $300,000 in 2011 and previous years.

The increased insurance coverage will not be limited to people participating in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. Participants at Toledo and Flat Rock Speedway, in the ARCA Truck Series, and the ARCA CRA Super Series will also benefit. The ARCA CRA Super Series is the product of a new relationship between ARCA and the Champion Racing Association, announced last July.

Fittingly, Fort Wayne, Ind.-based K&K Insurance, recognized as the leading provider of sports, leisure, and entertainment insurance products, recently celebrated its 60th year in business. K&K was founded in 1952, one year ahead of ARCA.

“ARCA Veteran Returns To Business With Daytona Win On His Mind”

Tom Hessert III

CHERRY HILL, New Jersey (January 20, 2012) – - Without question, Tom Hessert III was a driver grabbing headlines on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards tour at the conclusion of the 2011 season. A strong span of eight top-10 finishes including seven consecutive in the last 11 races of the year trademarked his presence.

With nearly a four month hiatus slowly coming to a close, the Cherry Hill, New Jersey native is eager to show that the off-season hasn’t stalled his momentum when he returns behind the wheel of the No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Toyota Camry for the season-opening Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on Saturday, February 18, 2012.

The first of 20 races for the new season marks the second year for the 25-year old pilot leading the helm for Ken Schrader Racing (KSR), a long-time fixture in the ARCA Racing Series community. Unfortunately, a strong showing for the duo in the season-opener last February was abruptly halted when Hessert was caught up in an-on track incident 52 laps into the race – but the Donnie Richeson-led team is craving a monstrous rebound.

“I’m glad to be back at Ken Schrader Racing with the support of Federated Auto Parts,” said Hessert, a second-generation driver. “Our season came to a close in style with a pole and fourth place finish at Toledo Speedway. I honestly feel like we can go to Daytona next month and pick up right where we left off in October.”

Of course, Hessert’s performance at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway last April, the other restrictor plate track for the ARCA warriors solidifies his pre-race thoughts. A fifth place qualifying effort at the 2.66-mile superspeedway comprehended by a sixth place finish in the 94-lap dash keeps the team in-balance of what restrictor plate racing is all about.

“If you can survive, you’re probably going to finish well,” Hessert noted. “We had a super car at Talladega. We were able to draft our way back into the top-10 in the final laps of the race and grab a solid finish. Daytona is ARCA’s version of the Super Bowl; and we’re taking that same car, so to say our focus is glued upon duplicating a similar performance from ‘Dega would be an understatement.”

The former NASCAR Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car driver will begin his fifth year on the ARCA tour in February and plans to deliver his first top-five finish at the “World Center of Racing.”

“My first year at Daytona, I was able to leave the track with a satisfying sixth place run,” Hessert sounded. “Since then, it’s been a little turbulent. But, you go into every new season with high hopes and this year will be no different. We have the capabilities of putting Ken Schrader Racing and Federated Auto Parts back in victory lane and it sure would be awesome to pull that off feat at a place like Daytona!”

He concluded by saying, “ARCA’s been a great home to me and I’m glad to be back in 2012. You never know what to expect when you get to the track; but I can promise you that we’re going to give no less than all we have to give and put our No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Toyota Camry in the spotlight.”

Leaning into Daytona, Hessert has 83 career ARCA Racing Series starts. In those outings, he has maneuvered two poles, one win, 19 top-fives and 43 top-10s.

The team, which will be housed in West Salem, WI, is owned by NASCAR on SPEED broadcaster Bob Dillner and led by crew chief Toby Nuttleman.

“I’m really excited about running for the CRA Championship,” said Kasten, who is currently a college student in North Carolina. “It took some hard thought to decide what Super Late Model touring series was the best fit for us to run. After running some races with CRA this past year, I was really impressed with the racing I saw. CRA directs races and enforces a set of rules that keeps the destruction of race cars to a minimum. They do everything within their power to try and make it easy for teams to compete every week. They also do a great job at securing races at some of the most premier short tracks in the country.”

The CRA Super Series schedule has not been announced as of yet, but will feature races at premier racetracks such as Lucas Oil Raceway Park near Indianapolis, IN, Toledo Speedway in Ohio, Berlin Raceway near Grand Rapids, MI, and the famed Winchester Speedway in Indiana.

Kasten competed in two CRA Super Series events in 2011 with a best finish of third at Angola Motor Speedway in Indiana. She also raced at Dixie Motor Speedway in Michigan where she led 123 of the 125 laps and had the lead on the final lap before the number-51 machine ran out of fuel in the caution-filled event.

“My goal for next year is to win the CRA Championship and I believe it’s completely within my reach,” stated Kasten. “Nearly everywhere we ran this year we had a shot to win. There is a lot of good competition there, but there’s no reason next year can’t be the same.”

Kasten will be competing with two identically-prepared Lefthander Chassis machines prepared by veteran crew chief Toby Nuttleman and owned by Bob Dillner.

“While running for a CRA championship will be a new thing for me, the people I’m with are the same ones I have been with for years. A lot of drivers say they are fortunate to be working with “so and so” and they like their crew guys, but I feel most of those guys don’t mean it like I do. I love the guys I work with and I’m so lucky to have these people in my life, regardless of racing,” explained Kasten. “Toby Nuttleman (crew chief) and Bob Dillner (owner) are extremely loyal and undeservingly helpful in their efforts to help my racing. Toby is the life-blood of everything I’ve ever accomplished on the track. Bob is one of the busiest people in racing, but he still makes time to manage things and promote the team. Both those guys give us what I need to be a winning racer and championship contender.”

BDI Racing has already signed on several associate marketing partners for 2012 including Lefthander Chassis, Racing Electronics and Acro-Tech Performance Products.

A new beccakasten.com and bdiracing.net are currently being redesigned and will be launched this winter.

Naset will accept the honor Saturday evening at the series’ annual Championship Awards Banquet at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Ky. The banquet will close the 59th season of ARCA competition.

A native of Bloomer, Wis., the 40-year-old Naset has worked at Richard Childress Racing since 1999, notably serving as the car chief for Kevin Harvick’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series entry from 2002 to 2009 and as the truck chief for Austin Dillon’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series entry in 2010, among other roles.

Naset finished with 6850 points in the crew chief division, which awards $3000 at year’s end and tabulates points from qualifying and race action. The crew chief of the fastest-qualifying car earns 200 points, with descending positions earning five fewer points per position. The same scoring system is in place for race finishes. Competing crew chiefs must register at the beginning of the season and carry the decal of Cometic Gasket, Inc. on the car to be eligible to score. A maximum of 400 points is possible in each event weekend.

Naset and the No. 41 team started quickly, as Dillon won the pole and finished 11th in the season opener at Daytona and swept the pole and race wins at Talladega in the next race. The team captured seven wins and seven Menards Pole Awards presented by Ansell in 19 events this year. Naset won Cometic Crew Chief of the Race honors 10 times in 19 races, earning $250 for his team’s performances at Talladega, Salem (May), Chicagoland, Michigan, Iowa, Indianapolis, Pocono (August), and DuQuoin, and in two races at Toledo.

Cometic Gasket, Inc., a Concord, Ohio company, creates the Official Gasket of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and also contributes $3500 to the year-end championship point fund.

Gary Roulo of the No. 17 Roulo Brothers Racing team finished second in the competition with 6485 points and four race awards. Billy Venturini (No. 25 Venturini Motorsports) was third with 6135 points and one race award. Gere Kennon (No. 31 Richard Childress Racing; 5655 points and one race award) and Bill Kimmel (No. 44 Kimmel Racing; 5650 points) rounded out the top five.

Other $250 Cometic Crew Chief of the Race winners included: John Monsam (No. 52 Schrader Racing, two) and Bill Gerhart (No. 5 Bobby Gerhart Racing).

Other Cometic Crew Chief of the Race winners included: Mike Chaffee (No. 32 Win-Tron Racing, three); Paul Andrews (No. 22 Cunningham Motorsports, two); and Tony Liberati (No. 55 Venturini Motorsports, two).

Series champion Ty Dillon, Rookie of the Year Chris Buescher, other drivers from the top 20, and the top 10 car owners will be honored in Saturday’s program, which also features special award winners.

Additional special award presentations include the Bill France Four Crown, the Rookie of the Year, the H.G. Adcox Sportsmanship Award, the Manufacturer Championship, the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Award, the Crane Cams Engine Builder of the Year Award, the Marcum Award, the Spirit Award, the Klotz Engine Mechanic Award, and the CGS Imaging Hard Charger Award. In addition, scholarship recipients will be announced, compliments of the University of Northwestern Ohio and the Bob Loga Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

While open to teams, series and track officials, and sponsors, the annual formal gala is also open to ARCA Racing Series fans. Ticket information is available at ARCARacing.com.

Twenty events – up from 19 in 2011 – will comprise the diverse combination of speedways, short tracks, dirt tracks, and a road course in the series’ 60th Anniversary Season.

“Each of the venues on the 2012 schedule is very important to the identity and industry position of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards,” said ARCA president Ron Drager. “The geographic coverage represented by the markets we’ll be racing in and the overall number of races are good fits for the series.”

In the ARCA Racing Series’ 49th consecutive February Speedweeks appearance, Daytona International Speedway will host the season-opening Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 on Saturday, February 18. The race will precede that evening’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Budweiser Shootout at the 2.5-mile superspeedway.

The 2012 ARCA Racing Series schedule will conclude with the series’ championship event at Kansas Speedway on Friday, October 19. In between, the series will appear in 18 other races at a wide variety of venues, setting the most versatile schedule in motorsports.

ARCA’s first visit to Mobile International Speedway in Alabama will be the season’s second race on Saturday, March 10. Another new track – Minnesota’s Elko Speedway – appears on the ARCA schedule for the first time, with a race on Saturday, June 2. The ARCA Racing Series has never raced in Minnesota, adding significance to the June visit to Elko and establishing the North Star State as the 29th visited by ARCA’s premier national tour since 1953.

Toledo Speedway – ARCA’s home track – will host the series on Sunday, May 20.

ARCA Racing Series teams will compete in July at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis over the Brickyard 400 weekend, following ARCA’s 2011 return to the track for the first time in 26 years. The exact date of the race will be determined shortly.

Additional short tracks returning to the ARCA Racing Series schedule include Salem (Ind.) Speedway on two weekends, Winchester (Ind.) Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Berlin (Mich.) Raceway, and Madison (Wis.) International Speedway.

Talladega Superspeedway will host its 50th ARCA Racing Series race on Friday, May 4, and Pocono Raceway will host two race dates for the 25th consecutive year, in June and August. Additional speedway events scheduled to return in 2012 include races at Michigan International Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway.

Contributing to the long-recognized diversity of the ARCA schedule will be the traditional mile dirt races in August at the Illinois State Fairgrounds and in September at the DuQuoin (Ill.) State Fairgrounds. Road course racing is in the plan for the fifth consecutive year, as the 2.25-mile Thunderbolt Raceway at New Jersey Motorsports Park will host ARCA on the first day of July.

Companion events in 2012 include race weekends with the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide, and Camping World Truck Series, as well as the USAC Silver Crown Series, the ARCA CRA Super Series, and the ARCA Truck Series.

The full 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule is as follows:

Saturday, February 18 – Daytona International Speedway

Saturday, March 10 – Mobile International Speedway

Sunday, April 29 – Salem Speedway

Friday, May 4 – Talladega Superspeedway

Sunday, May 20 – Toledo Speedway

Saturday, June 2 – Elko Speedway

Saturday, June 9 – Pocono Raceway

Friday, June 15 – Michigan International Speedway

Sunday, June 24 – Winchester Speedway

Friday, July 13 – Iowa Speedway

Saturday, September 15 – Salem Speedway

Friday, October 19 – Kansas Speedway

The ARCA Racing Series will wrap up the 2011 season with the Championship Awards Banquet at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Ky., near Cincinnati, on Saturday, December 10.

The 21-year old driver who made the leap from the INEX Legend Car Series and Late Models made his inaugural ARCA Racing Series debut at Berlin (Mich.) Raceway on July 9 where he qualified a respectable 15th before finishing a modest 16th. From Michigan, the team trenched to the series’ return to Madison (Wisc.) International Speedway, where the Friendswood, Texas native started once again in the 15th position before taking the checkered flag in the 17th spot.

In their final run of 2011, the team invaded the Northern Ohio racetrack of Toledo Speedway, the site of the season finale. After a positive test session at the half-mile oval a week prior to the contest, the team was optimistic about their chances. Despite qualifying 16th, Evans Jr. easily made his presence known in No. 99 Elevator Transportation Services / Casite / RoushYatesParts.com Ford Fusion throughout the 206-lap slugfest to claim his first career top-10 finish after crossing the line ninth.

On the heels of their superior run at Toledo Speedway, officials from both sides have agreed to return together for 2012 and pair-up for all the anticipated races aired on SPEED with the exception of the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February.

Also, Evans Jr. himself is vigorously working with potential marketing partners to further increase his on-track presence next year.

“We’re excited to have CJ back on-board next year,” said crew chief Howard Bixman. “We decide to run Berlin just for some seat time. Arriving at Madison we took the next step with this program. Tested Toledo with a new car we had built for CJ, and found out it was time to go forward and be a contender. I was thoroughly impressed with his focus and desire to improve at every single race. His run at Toledo Speedway was nearly flawless. We still kept our guard up, but CJ stayed out of trouble, and finished ninth. We were real happy with that.”

Bixman added, “We’re looking for a strong solid season though. Team BCR has been steadily preparing his Ford Fusions for him for next year. His desire to hit the pavement harder in order to run more races by sponsor hunting. With that mindset, I think you’ll see added events to our already anticipated races.”

Charles Evans Jr.

For Evans Jr., he is looking forward to working with Bixman and his Team BCR posse next year and believes he’ll have the assets and capability of running in the top-10 on a more frequent basis.

“Our run at Toledo was definitely a boost,” the rising star initiated. Howard and the team built two new cars for me this year and completely rebuilt one. With RoushYates Engines and a strong leadership from Howard and having a solid team like Team BCR behind me 2012 will be awesome.” “While, I enjoyed the short tracks in ARCA, I’m eager to race at some of the bigger tracks and really show our competition how strong and dedicated our organization is. I’ve learned so much this past year, it’s really still so hard to elaborate it all. I’ll be spending the off-season with the team as much as possible in order to show them my commitment and faith in them. Not to mention, I’m eager to learn more about these racecars, as I feel it will only enhance me behind the wheel.”

Heavner would be making his series debut and after spending months with BSM as he molded with the team he was excited for the new challenge and opportunity.

42 cars entered for competition in the Toledo 200 and of those, 28 were required to qualify based on time. Heavner put his car in 16th position of the 35 cars allowed to grid the field with a 16.6 second lap.

The race would air live on the SPEED Channel but a two hour rain delay pushed back the green flag and forced the airing at 10PM that night. Due to wet conditions the race would run several of the opening laps under yellow as they allowed the wet track to reach a dry state.

Butterfly’s of anticipation from drivers, fans and crews, it was now time to drop the green. Heavner developed an early push in the center of the corner, preventing the car from rotating and causing a delay getting back to the throttle. This would force him to drop a few positions in the early part of the event. On a restart the field would stack up causing several cars to receive front end damage including Heavner. As Heavner continued to struggle he would even go a lap down to the leader. However, he provided superb feedback on the handling conditions to the team and after a pit stop the crew would fix the handling issues as well as the front end damage.

It didn’t take long for Heavner to become the first car one lap down and get his lap back via the Lucky Dog. This put him back in the top 20 and at the tail end of the lead lap. The handling issues were fixed he was ready to move forward. In the final 50 laps he would work his way back to the 13th position just outside the top 10. It was a tremendous debut for Heavner and the Bob Schacht Motorsports #7 team.

Ryan would like to give a big thank you to Bob Schacht Motorsports for making his dreams come true this weekend in Toledo. This is just the beginning of a wonderful partnership.

The Federated Car Care 200 was only the 8th race—out of the 19 race season—for Cunningham Motorsports. Chrissy Wallace drove the #22 Dodge to a finish of 11th, after a 5th place qualifying effort. Sponsorship from Althoff Trucking, who sponsored Chrissy’s ASA track championship run at I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, MO, and Jeg’s Performance, allowed Wallace the opportunity to work with the Cunningham organization.

The team tested at Caraway Speedway last week in an effort to reacquaint Wallace with the ARCA Series cars. She last raced with the ARCA organization in 2008, competing at Talladega and Pocono—a definite change in track configuration to the .5 mile Toledo Speedway. When the #22 rolled off of the trailer, Wallace hit the track for the first practice session very comfortable, as she told crew chief Paul Andrews, “Everything is handling really, really well.” After the crew made many adjustments throughout the first 45 minute practice, Wallace showed 15th on the speed chart. She found the car more to her liking in the final practice, posting the 8th quickest time, picking up .5 seconds, with a 16.390. After finding another .25 seconds, Wallace posted the 5th fastest qualifying time.

After a two and a half hour rain delay on Sunday, the green/yellow flag flew for the 200 lap event. The first 41 laps were run behind the pace car, in order to continue the drying process after continuous rain. After multiple cautions over the first 30 laps under green flag conditions, Wallace maintained the 6th spot. Wallace ran the fastest lap, turned by all cars, during the race on lap 51.

Chrissy Wallace

As the race hit the halfway point, Wallace remained in the top 10, in spite of having difficulty on the restarts with the lapped cars getting bunched up. When the caution came out on lap 118, Andrews called the #22 to pit road for right side tires, fuel, track bar and air pressure adjustments. With the majority of the lead lap cars pitting during this yellow flag, Wallace took the green in 13th. As Wallace was coming out of turn 2, on lap 136, the 02, of Josh Williams, clipped the left rear corner of the Cunningham Dodge, spinning Wallace on the backstretch, causing her to lose a lap. Wallace brought the car to the pit crew’s attention for a track bar adjustment and lined up for the restart on lap 141 in 21st, one lap down.

A few laps later the caution flew again, awarding Wallace the Aaron’s Lucky Dog award, since she was the first car not on the lead lap. During this caution Wallace brought the car in for 4 fresh Hoosiers. One more pit stop for the Cunningham crew occurred on lap 159, to repair some cosmetic damage which happened during the previous spin, with Wallace restarting in 20th. From this point until the checkered flag flew, Wallace picked up one spot at a time. The final caution flag waved on lap 198 when the second place car of Ty Dillon spun out then-leader, Brandon Poole. The green flag flew for the final time on lap 205, with Wallace earning the 11th spot.

The top 5 finishers in the Federated Car Care 200 were Chris Buescher, Ty Dillon, Chad McCumbee, Tom Hessert and Grant Enfinger. Dillon won the season-long championship, with Buescher finishing second.

Cunningham Motorsports is looking forward to 2012, with many potential prospects for next season. Look for updates on the 2012 season on twitter @cunningham_race.

With a two-car entry in place, the odds were doubled for the organization to have success. Jared Marks, the Napoleon, Ohio native was returning to the wheel in No. 8 Terry Henricks Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep / Ram Dodge Charger and female sensation Maryeve Dufault in the No. 12 Mad Croc Energy / Dodge Motorsports / Tony Marks Racing Dodge Charger. Marks entered the season on the heels of a career-best fourth place finish in his most recent start at Salem (Ind.) Speedway. Dufault making her second Toledo Speedway start and on the momentum of a commendable solid top-20 finish the week before at Kansas Speedway.

With the United States Auto Club (USAC) sharing Saturday with the ARCA Racing Series at Toledo Speedway, practice which was normally run as one session would now be combined into two forty minute-efforts. Mounting the fourth and 10th place positions in each practice respectively, Marks and his TMR entry were optimistic about qualifying.

In qualifying, Marks posted the seventh quickest lap picking up the pace considerably.

Unfortunately, teams returned to the ARCA-owned racetrack on Sunday under gloomy skies and consistent rain showers. Ultimately, the start of the contest would be pushed-back nearly two hours before the command to fire engines was given. ARCA would choose to utilize the 35-car starting field to finish the track drying process throwing both the green and yellow flags simultaneously for the first 40 circuits of the contest. With the yellow flag retracted and the green “officially” given to the field, TMR had already experienced its fair share of misfortune.

Despite running at slower speeds, both drivers were forced to bring their machines respectively to pit road for separate engines issues which included a carburetor change for Dufault and an examination for Marks. After review, it was determined that Marks would have to settle with just seven cylinders for the remainder of the ARCA Racing Series event.

Now under routine green flag conditions, both drivers had their work cut out for them. The main objective for both teams was to try and thunder their way towards the front of the pack. Despite not fully up to par, Marks hustled his way through the field and utilize some pit strategy which not only put the rising star back in the hunt – but also inside the top-10.

Jared Marks

In fact, Marks found himself battling with cars with full horsepower but the rookie’s determination behind the wheel made up for the disadvantage underneath the hood and he was able to mount a 10th place finish in a green-white-checkered finish.

“We had our work cut out for us, but we made the best of it,” offered 17-year old Marks. “We really didn’t have any indication about the motor, it just happened all of a sudden. As a team though, we still knew that we had a good handling car, so we just had to use push it all race long. I want to thank everyone from Terry Henricks Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep / Ram Dodge Charger and of course Dodge for jumping aboard this weekend and for crew for their efforts in times of doubt.

Car owner and Ohio entrepreneur Tony Marks offered his insight on the final race of the season. “We definitely had some ups and downs, but we made the best of it. Jared did a great bouncing back from something completely out of his control and Maryeve continued to strengthen her short track skills by finishing the race. We’ll regroup and plan to return to the circuit bigger and better than ever in 2012.”

A separate release relating to Maryeve Dufault’s overall performance of the Federated Car Care 200 at Toledo Speedway will be issued in the immediate future.

Next up for the ARCA Racing Series is the 2011 championship banquet which is set for Saturday, December 10th at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Ky., near Cincinnati. The top-20 drivers and top-10 owners and drivers will be recognized for their participation in the series this year.

Wilson, making his second consecutive start for Win-Tron Racing and fourth of the season behind the wheel of the No. 32 Champion Brands Toyota Camry, the team was anxious to get their rookie driver on the track. Knowing that their prior success with rookies at the half-mile oval had offered a boastful point, the team still had to make sure that their Randleman, North Carolina native was comfortable behind the wheel.

It didn’t take long for Wilson to show his comfort zone at Toledo Speedway as he quickly wrestled his No. 32 Champion Brands Toyota Camry around the track and instantly showcased as one of the strongest cars in the field by posting the third quickest lap overall by the conclusion of first practice. In happy hour, the final practice session leading up to qualifying, the team’s attempt at a qualifying run would be halted due to lap traffic, but the veteran ARCA team still showcased the 11th fastest lap.

Turning their efforts to qualifying, the NASCAR Whelen-All American Series (NWAAS) amateur took to the Northern Ohio racetrack contesting to make his fifth career start overall. Picking up the pace from his quickest lap in practice, Wilson overall maneuvered the 14th best lap after 42 cars took an attempt to make the season finale.

No. 32 Champion Brands Toyota Camry

“I’m beating myself up right now,” said Wilson. “The Win-Tron Racing guys have given me a real fast car and I messed up a little bit in qualifying. I plan to make it up to them, Champion Brands and Southern Pharmacy Services during the race.”

With the yellow flag retracted and the green “officially” given to the field, Wilson was anxious to get the front and he didn’t hide it.

Quickly moving in the 13th position by lap 45, Wilson set his sights on the strong group of lead cars ahead of him. Just six laps later, Wilson found himself inside the top-10 and posting lap times comparable to the leaders.

Normal short track racing consists of typical beating and banging and Wilson had demonstrated that fact by lap 58 as contact while racing to inch up the leader board would cause a tire rub and ultimately force a trip down pit road during an early race caution where crew chief Mike Chaffee advised his team to change right side tires and pull the fender from the No. 32 Champion Brands Toyota Camry before sending their driver back into competition.

Finding himself deep in a lead lap group, Wilson restarted 18th but quickly began making progress and found himself in 13th by lap 92. Moving into 12th by lap 121, another yellow flag waived allowing Chaffee to bring his driver down pit lane for two left side tires and a splash of fuel. The strategy call would pay off and move the winner of last Fall’s Richard Petty Driver Search II back into the top-10 in ninth on lap 124.

Tight racing would see Wilson shift in the running order over the next 25 laps slipping to as low as 11th before climbing into eighth on lap 144. With 50 laps remaining, Wilson would make a pass by the No. 68 of Will Kimmel for seventh and the two late model drivers would duke it out for that position for many laps before eventual contact was made sending Kimmel into the outside wall and Wilson barely escaping unscathed.

Trying to shake off the incident and re-focus on the job at hand, Wilson continued to move forward and had lifted into the sixth position by 178. Wilson hovered in sixth coming to the white flag only to see the yellow flag raise just seconds later throwing the field into overtime and also rising the 19-year old to fifth after the leaders collided in turn two.

On the restart, Wilson would find himself in a torrid battle with the No. 36 of Grant Enfinger where the two would hash it out the entire final lap with the No. 36 pulling ahead of the No. 32 by inches at the checkered flag with Wilson delivering a sixth place finish, accelerating past his prior ARCA best of ninth at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway earlier this season.

Upon conclusion of the race, Wilson unbuckled himself from his automobile and personally found Will Kimmel to apologize about the incident near the end of the race. After the two conversed, Wilson then digested the afternoon’s race with the members of his team.

Ryan Wilson

“First, I hate what happened to Will (Kimmel),” Wilson said. “We were racing real hard and it was completely unintentional. Second, I’d like to thank the Win-Tron Racing team for giving me such a good racecar. It was a blast to drive this thing. We were able to come from the back to the front and stay there. The battle on the last lap was intense, but we (Grant Enfinger) raced each other as clean as we could and he just got us by a hare.”

He added, “This was my fourth race with Champion Brands as a sponsor and I was proud to represent them. We were excited to have Southern Pharmacy Services on-board for Toledo and we’re hoping to put some stuff together during the off-season that will see us back on track together in 2012.”

Nate Thiesse, co-car owner of Win-Tron Racing offered his sentiments on the Federated Car Care 200. “We’re impressed, especially with Ryan never seeing Toledo Speedway before arriving on Friday night. He’s an incredible person with a wealth of talent. He did an amazing job during the race and showed that he has the ability to race with the best of the best in ARCA. We’re proud to end the year with a positive finish, just like we started the year and to have been associated with Ryan and his group this season. We’re going to work hard towards trying to keep him in this seat for 2012.”

Wilson has five career ARCA Racing Series starts to his credit. In those five outings, he has maneuvered two top-10s, four top-15s and a career-best qualifying effort of fifth at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. Wilson has also controlled the ARCA field once for three laps at Kansas Speedway.

The family-owned team elected to bring back the same No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger that they recorded a second-place finish in the Spring event at the half-mile oval. Looking to finish what they started, the Kelly Kovski-led organization had high hopes for the season finale.

With the United States Auto Club (USAC) sharing Saturday with the ARCA Racing Series at Toledo Speedway, practice which was normally run as one session would now be combined into two forty minute-efforts. Mounting the second and first quickest laps in each practice respectively, the short track ace along with his team were looking forward to strutting their stuff in Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell.

Despite not being able to maneuver his second pole of the season, Enfinger did log the third quickest lap which gained him five crucial points in the critical championship race. Somewhat content with their starting position, the team remained focused on the bigger goal at hand.

With the yellow flag retracted and the green “officially” given to the field, Enfinger hovered inside the top-three waiting for the early stages of the race to settle in.

No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger

Within sights of leaders Ty Dillon and Tom Hessert, Enfinger joined the pack when they caught Milka Duno in lap traffic on lap 63. Enfinger was able to soar by Duno and Dillon moving into the runner-up spot. Two laps later though, still muffled in heavy traffic, Enfinger made slight contact with the No. 26 of Brad Smith which allowed Dillon an opportunity to pass the No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger.

Settled in third, a caution waived just before lap 90, allowing Enfinger to bring his automobile to the attention of Kovski where the team changed tires and added fuel, electing to get out of sequence with the leaders – hoping it would pay off in the long run.

The lap 94 restart showed the Fairhope, Alabama native in the 18th position but quickly negotiating his way through the field. Climbing into the top-10 by lap 110, Enfinger proved that he had a car capable of running the multiple grooves around the racetrack.

When the leaders dished to pit road, Enfinger did the same offering the final stop of the afternoon with more tires and a splash of fuel. With the significant number of cars on the lead lap, Enfinger restarted the race deep in the pack in the 17th position.

With a determined attitude, Enfinger began charging his No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger through the tough field once again finding himself knocking on the door of re-entering the top-10 by lap 132.

12 laps later, the mission had been accomplished with Enfinger officially being scored in the 10th position. That though wasn’t good enough for the short track standout as he continued to manhandle his way through the field. By lap 175 and a few cautions later, Enfinger had moved into seventh position.

On the bumper of the No. 32 of Ryan Wilson, the two would hash it out coming to the white flag, but as the two began racing for a spot inside the top-five, leaders Dillon and Brennan Poole collided. With the No. 25 of Poole stalled on the racetrack, Enfinger passed him bumping him up into the sixth position. Now set for a green-white-checkered finish, Enfinger knew that the opportunity to outsmart Wilson, a new recruit to the ARCA Racing Series was capable.

With the green and white flags waiving together, the two began hashing it out fighting for a spot inside the top-five. As the two cars shoved their way out of turn four onto the frontstretch, Enfinger’s No. 36 Hoosier Tire Midwest / racetires.com Dodge Charger cleared the No. 32 by inches awarding the team with their seventh top-five of the year.

Grant Enfinger

“It was a good day for Allgaier Motorsports,” said Enfinger. “We just didn’t have the car that could challenge for the lead like we did in the Spring, but we did have a strong piece. A couple times after pitting we were able to muscle our way from the back of the field to the front.”

He added, “That was a good battle on the last lap with Ryan (Wilson). He raced me hard but cleaned and it gave the fans something to watch coming to the checkered flag.”

With the team’s 14th top-10 finish of the year, Enfinger unofficially secured third place in the championship standings, the best championship effort for Allgaier Motorsports since notching the 2008 championship with driver Justin Allgaier. In all, the team tallied 19 starts, one pole, seven top-fives, 14 top-10s, 18 top-15 finishes. All season long, the team had just one effort outside the top-20 late in the season at Salem (Ind.) Speedway where a rear-end failure relegated a 22nd place run.

“We didn’t have a lot as far the sponsorship department went, but we still made it,” Enfinger explained. “This is a team with a lot of heart and desire. We had our share of ups and downs, but it was worth it. I’m so appreciative of the Allgaier family for the opportunity and hope that sponsorship can materialize, so that they can race in 2012.”
