(September 9, 2010) - For the second year in a row, Kevin Harvick Inc.’s (KHI) business-to-business partner initiative comes full circle as Armour Foods, a Pinnacle Foods brand, and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) team up to co-host a hospitality event on Friday, September 10, at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway (RIR) to entertain guests from Pinnacle Foods and veterans from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

“I’ve had the opportunity to go to Walter Reed and visit with the military there,” said co-owner Kevin Harvick. “Every time I have been, it has been an eye-opening experience. To see our sponsors work together to host some of our countries’ finest men and women at the race track makes me really proud to be associated with them. I’ve met some really big race fans through my visits to Walter Reed and I’m glad that we are able to invite them to Richmond to enjoy the race weekend and see some great racing under the lights.”

In addition to the support of Armour/Pinnacle Foods and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Chevrolet, Sitrin Health Care Center and Richmond International Raceway have also contributed to this event providing items for gift bags, monetary donations and help with tickets to the weekend’s race events.

“Pinnacle Foods Corporation and the Armour brand are very excited to be a part of the Wounded Warriors program and to be able to host, along with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, veterans from Walter Reed Army Medical Center,” said Eric Hintz, Vice President of Marketing. “We are happy that we can support the men and women who serve our country and allow us to do the things that we do every day.”

Armour Foods, a brand of Pinnacle Foods, will serve as the primary sponsor of the No. 33 Chevrolet with two-time Nationwide Series champion Harvick for the Virginia College Savings 250 at Richmond International Raceway. The Friday night race will mark the third installment of NASCAR’s new Nationwide Series car, and the first time the car will run under the lights in competition.

“We’re extremely honored to be partnering with Pinnacle Foods in this effort to honor some of America’s greatest defenders. I can think of no group more deserving of our support than veterans from Walter Reed,” said VFW National Commander, Richard L. Eubank.

Guests from Walter Reed Medical Center, Pinnacle Foods and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will enjoy appearances from NASCAR personalities, food, pre-race activities followed by 250-laps of action packed racing as NASCAR’s best take to the short track of Richmond International Raceway for the 27th stop of the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series season.

(June 5, 2010) – EZ Grill, the ultimate portable, disposable and mess-free ready-to-use grill, will sponsor ThorSport Racing driver Johnny Sauter in the upcoming NASCAR Camping World Truck Series VFW 200 at Michigan International Speedway.

“It’s really cool to have EZ Grill on board the No. 13 Chevy for the Michigan race,” Sauter said. “I think we have two sponsors that reach out to NASCAR fans the best with EZ Grill and Tim McGraw on board with us. Everyone knows that country music and NASCAR go hand-in-hand and there isn’t a larger cookout anywhere in the world than at a NASCAR race. Since so many people are camping and tailgating and traveling long distances to the races makes EZ Grill a perfect fit for NASCAR fans. They can bring the grill with them and drop it off in the trash on the way out and not have to worry about carrying it home. Like they say, you can grill anytime, anywhere with it. It’s an awesome product and we’re glad to have them on board with us.”

EZ Grill, complete with all natural charcoal, lights easily with one match and provides at least and hour and a half of cooking time. It is environmentally friendly using plant material versus wood and is 100 percent recyclable. EZ Grill is available at over 49,000 retailers across the United States including Menards, Wal-Mart, Winn-Dixie, Safeway, and through EZGrill.com.

Sauter is currently fifth in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings with one win (Kansas) so far in 2010 and finished second in the last series event at Texas Motor Speedway.

As grand marshal, Montange will be introduced during pre-race ceremonies for the VFW 200 and will give the famous command for drivers to start their engines before making parade laps in the official Ford Mustang pace car prior to the start of the race.

Montange, who served three tours in Iraq, will be joined by his parents, his sister and her husband as special guests of the VFW Foundation’s Salute to Military Families program and will receive VIP treatment throughout the June race weekend. Montange’s girlfriend is currently serving in Iraq and could not join them for the event.

The family will be provided with a RV for weekend accommodations in the Graves Farm Campground at MIS. MISCamping.com, the official RV rental company and camping sponsor of MIS, and Home Depot partnered to build an access ramp for Montange, who was wounded by an IED bomb during combat and returned home in 2007 a disabled veteran.

Montange and his family will also receive suite passes and garage passes for Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s events. They will enjoy garage tours, pace car rides and special access to drivers’ meetings, pre-race ceremonies and victory lane celebrations.

Through their Salute to Military Families program at MIS, VFW will provide over 500 local veterans and active duty military and their families with grandstand tickets, chalet and suite hospitality with complimentary food and beverage, and special VIP treatment throughout the event weekend at MIS.

The VFW 200 and Salute to Military Families events are part of the VFW Foundation’s nationwide Return the Favor awareness and fundraising campaign designed to honor and celebrate active-duty and retired military and their families.

“Unfortunately, U.S. troops rarely have the luxury to attend sporting events or entertainment activities, so that’s where we step in. It’s our way of ‘saying thanks’ for all they do,” said John G. Lowe, VFW Foundation Deputy Director. “Our Return the Favor events not only boost troop morale but also draw attention to the urgent needs of U.S. military service personnel. It also allows us to get the word out about our other programs and services. These include free communication options for troops overseas so they can call home on a regular basis and financial assistance to their families for rent, mortgage, utilities, vehicle repair, food and medicine.”

The VFW Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and the official charity of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), America’s oldest and largest service group for combat veterans. The VFW Foundation receives no government funding, and instead relies solely on public and corporate donations.

(Jan. 22, 2010) - In an effort to recognize and salute veterans and their families around the country, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Foundation will be the title sponsor of its first-ever NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, the “VFW 200” on Saturday, June 12 at Michigan International Speedway.

“The VFW 200 and our association with NASCAR aligns well with our mission to help America’s service members and their families. This will help bring public attention to their urgent needs,” said VFW Commander-In-Chief Thomas J. Tradewell, Sr.

“The VFW Foundation has had a wonderful relationship with NASCAR driver, Kevin Harvick’s KHI racing team. We are excited about our on-going association with Kevin Harvick and proud to have the opportunity to sponsor the VFW 200. NASCAR, its fans, and the Michigan International Speedway are perfect for such a patriotic event,” added Tradewell.

With the new VFW relationship, MIS has now secured sponsorship deals for all of its racing events in 2010.

“We’re very pleased to have the VFW Foundation sponsor our Camping World Truck Series event,” MIS President Roger Curtis said. “The VFW Foundation and its mission to provide help to America’s service members touches many of our race fans who are veterans themselves. This relationship will strengthen our commitment to our veterans and what they have sacrificed for our country. We appreciate and recognize their efforts.”

“The idea that we have secured sponsorship for all of our races in 2010 in these tough economic times is a positive message for MIS and the sport of NASCAR as a whole. It’s great that sponsors are still seeing the benefit of using the speedway as a platform to communicate their message to our race fans, who are the most loyal in motorsports,” Curtis added.

Additionally the Foundation will provide activities and informational venues at the track during the entire weekend to highlight the service and sacrifice of America’s U.S. service members and their families. Service members attending the event (many of whom are on leave from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan) will be given VIP status and provided with pit passes and access to NASCAR drivers, grandstand seating and complimentary food.

The venue will allow the VFW Foundation to showcase its “Salute to Military Families” campaign, designed to bring awareness to the unique problems and needs of troops and their families. It will be the second year the VFW Foundation has sponsored the “Salute to Military Families” program. Through its “Unmet Needs” initiative, the VFW Foundation has provided more than $3 million in direct financial assistance to military families for rent, mortgage, utilities, vehicle repair, medical expenses and basic food assistance.

Other VFW Foundation programs include “Operation Uplink’s Free Call Days” which facilitated approximately 20 million minutes of free long-distance overseas talk-time for troops in 2009; morale boosting “welcome home” and “sendoff” events for military units; and direct, free assistance to veterans obtaining VA entitlements from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

No. 33 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Chevrolet Silverado Team Race Preview

NASCAR Truck Series Race 24 of 25 — Phoenix International Raceway

THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY: Last year in the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR), Ron Hornaday and the No. 33 team were involved in a lap one incident, but were able to rebound and finish the race in the 25th position to salvage a three point deficit to Johnny Benson going into the final race at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway. Hornaday looks at the race at PIR as a turning point in last year’s season.

“When you look back and think of why we didn’t win the championship in 2008, a lot of people point to Homestead,” said Hornaday. “I look at the season as a whole, running out of gas at Martinsville, getting taken out in Mansfield, and then wrecking on lap one in Phoenix. Even though this year our circumstances are different, we can’t look only at Homestead for the final call as to why we will or will not win the championship. Titles are won during a season, not in one race. I would really like to have last year’s Phoenix race to do over, but we don’t and now we are in a similar situation this year with just a different point margin. This year maybe I can keep the truck going in the right direction for more than a lap.”

LUCKY NUMBER 22: In order to wrap up the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver’s championship, Hornaday has to finish 22nd or better in the final two races at PIR and Homestead-Miami Speedway.

ON THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW: According to NASCAR’s Loop Data Statistics Hornaday leads all Truck Series driver’s at PIR in making passes down the straight-a-ways. In the last four races at PIR Hornaday has made 22 quality passes down the short straight-a-ways.

Notes from the Professor: Quotes from Ron Hornaday:

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS HEADING TO PHOENIX?

“I have been pretty successful at Phoenix International Raceway over the years. I have had a lot of great races there and have two wins there in 1998 and 1999. It’s a flat race track for the most part. It has a little more banking in turns one and two than in turns three and four. We have been really good this year on the flatter, shorter tracks. Phoenix is a place that I have been running for a number of years and I really like going back to one of the roots of the Truck Series.”

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT GOING INTO PHOENIX WITH A 197 POINT ADVANTAGE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE?

“To me right now we are just focused on two more races. I don’t look at the championship until Homestead. The No. 33 team is not only racing for the driver’s championship, we want to make sure Kevin and DeLana win the owner’s championship as well. I don’t go into it looking at how many points we are ahead. I know that we just need to win the last two races. That’s what I want to go do and then the points will take care of themselves.”

CHASSIS HISTORY:

The No. 33 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) team will take chassis No.037 to Phoenix International Raceway this weekend. Chassis No. 037 was last on track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Hornaday drove the then new chassis to a second-place finish.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP:

Last week at Texas Motor Speedway, Hornaday and the No. 33 team recorded their 10th top-three finish of the 2009 season. Hornaday battled leaders Kyle Busch and Matt Crafton for the win but his truck became too loose in the closing laps to challenge for the win.

No. 33 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Chevrolet Silverado Team Race Preview

NASCAR Truck Series Race 21 of 25 — Martinsville (Va.) Speedway

ONE OF THE FEW: Ron Hornaday heads to Martinsville (Va.) Speedway this weekend with a mission to check the 0.526-mile track off the list. There are currently eight tracks on the Truck Series schedule where the veteran has yet to tally a win and Martinsville Speedway tops that list. In 14 starts (the most of any track on the circuit) Hornaday has yet to visit victory lane and collect the famous Grandfather clock trophy. Earlier this season, Hornaday came ever so close finishing second to “the boss” Kevin Harvick.

“Martinsville is a place that I really would like to get a win at,” Hornaday said. “I’ve said it a lot this year but I’m after trophies. My wife will spend the money but when racing is over for me those are the things that I can show my grandkids. Martinsville is definitely a place that’s on my radar. I’m excited to get back to racing after this break and finish out what has been a dream season.”

THE ONES TO BEAT: Over the last nine races at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, the trucks coming out of the Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) stables have been the ones to beat. In 2008, KHI swept the pole positions with Jack Sprague and the No. 2 truck team setting a new track record in the spring followed by Hornaday and the No. 33 team winning the pole for the fall race.

KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick leads NASCAR’s loop data statistics for average running position (6.0), average finish (8.0), percentage of laps spent in the top 15 (93.1) and driver rating of 112.0 out of 150 possible points earned. Hornaday is not far behind. He is the driver that has spent the most laps in the top 15 (1,737) as well as gaining the most points (1,271).

KEVIN HARVICK FAN CLUB GATHERING: Following the Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway, KHI will host the seventh annual Kevin Harvick Fan Club Gathering. The event runs from 5p.m. to 9p.m. at the KHI facility in Kernersville N.C. The event is open to the public, admission is free. This year’s gathering will feature a classic car and specialty vehicle show, the Rheem Extreme Cake Challenge as well as autograph sessions with Ron Hornaday, Ricky Carmichael and DeLana Harvick for selected Fan Club member and attendees. Kevin Harvick will sign autographs for Fan Club members only.

Notes from the Professor: Quotes from Ron Hornaday:

WHAT WOULD IT MEAN FOR YOU TO FINALLY BREAK THROUGH AND GET A WIN AT MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY?

“I’ve been coming here for awhile now and for some reason we just can’t seem to break through and get the checkers. It would mean a lot to me to win at Martinsville. It is one of the tracks that we’ve been coming to since the Truck Series started and to finally add my name to the list of legends who have won there would mean a lot to me.”

AS YOU BEGIN THE FINAL FIVE RACE STREATCH TO THE END OF THE TRUCK SERIES SEASON, HOW IMPORTANT IS SURVIVIING MARTINSVILLE?

“Martinsville has been one of those tracks we have circled on our calendar. Martinsville and Talladega are the two tracks that are very important to just get out of there with a good finish. We have been very fortunate that we have had really good trucks at Martinsville the past few times we have gone there, but it’s more important now than ever to keep all four fenders off the tires and race as clean as we can to get a good finish.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 33 Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) team will take chassis No.033 to Martinsville Speedway. Chassis No. 033 was last on track at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway (BMS) where Hornaday’s five race win steak came to a close, but he was able to record a third-place finish, his best finish at BMS since 1999.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Four weeks ago at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Hornaday and the No. 33 team recorded their 16th top-10 finish of 2009 with a sixth-place finish at the 1.5-mile track. Hornaday led 34 laps, but took on four tires late in the race while some of the other leaders took on two tires or stayed out. Johnny Sauter went on to win his first career Truck Series race. Hornaday remains the point’s leader by 197 markers over Matt Crafton with five races remaining in the 2009 season.

Team Race Preview

NASCAR Nationwide Series Race 18 of 35 – Chicagoland Speedway

RETURN TO THE WINDY CITY: Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) co-owner and two-time Nationwide Series champion Kevin Harvick climbs behind the wheel of the No. 33 Jimmy John’s Chevrolet this week at Chicagoland Speedway, looking for his third win in the windy city. In six previous Nationwide Series starts at the track, Harvick has two wins, three top-five and three top-10 finishes.

FRONT QUALIFIER: In his six previous starts at Chicagoland Speedway, Harvick has never started outside the top 10. Harvick has always started between the fourth and ninth position. This week Harvick will look to earn his first pole at the 1.5-mile track as he climbs back into the “freaky fast” Jimmy John’s car.

LIVE FROM INSIDE THE NO. 33 CAR: Kevin Harvick will serve as the ESPN In-race reporter during this week’s live broadcast of the Dollar General 300. Tune in to see live in-car camera shots of Harvick behind the wheel of the Jimmy John’s car and listen as he gives live updates throughout the race to the braodcast booth.

WELCOME BACK JIMMY JOHN’S: With the season-opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Jimmy John’s made a “freaky fast” start to their partnership with KHI as Harvick won the pole and finsihed 11th at the 2.5-mile track with their first primary race. Since then, Jimmy John’s has run one race with Ron Hornaday at The Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile where they again had a strong running with a ninth-place finish. This week will mark Jimmy John’s third primary race this season and second with Harvick. Keep an eye on the “freaky fast” No. 33 Jimmy John’s car at Chicagoland Speedway, Gateway International Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, Kansas Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway, all with Harvick in the driver’s seat.

BEFORE THE RACE: QUOTES WITH DRIVER KEVIN HARVICK:

What’s unique about Chicagoland Speedway? “Probably that you go through the corners pretty much wide open. You let off sooner than you do at most places, and you drive it all the way through the corners under power. That’s not extremely different from other tracks, but there is a lot more throttle here than at most places. You get back in it (the gas) a lot quicker than you do at most places.”

What is the fastest way around Chicago? “The fastest way around Chicago is to run the white line the entire race. However, you never know what the tires and all the other circumstances are going to be when we go back. The track is still aging and it loses grip every time you go back. Over the past couple of years, we have been able to run up the race track a little bit. But I think the person who can run the white line the entire race will win.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 33 Jimmy John’s team will unload chassis No. 037 from the KHI stables this week at Chicagoland Speedway. This will mark this chassis’ first appearance this season. Last season chassis No. 037 appeared on track at Atlanta Motor Speedway with Cale Gale as the No. 77 car (20th-place finish) and at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway with Gale (8th-place finish) as the No. 33 car.

Team Race Preview

NASCAR Nationwide Series Race 17 of 35 – Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway

DAYTONA STATS: Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) co-owner and two-time Nationwide Series champion Kevin Harvick will be back in the driver seat of the No. 33 KHI car this week as the Nationwide Series team’s return to Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway for round 17 of 35 this season. In 14 Nationwide Series starts at the track, Harvick has earned one win, one pole, 10 top-five and 11 top-10 finishes. Harvick has completed 100 percent (1594 of 1594) of his laps attempted in the Nationwide Series and led 175 laps at the 2.5-mile track. 2007 was Harvick’s most successful season at Daytona, as he swept the Nationwide season opener and captured the coveted Daytona 500.

RESTRICTOR PLATE SUCCESS: KHI is no stranger to success at restrictor-plate racing. The company’s first Nationwide Series win came at Daytona International Speedway in 2005 when Tony Stewart won the season opener. The following year Stewart returned to Victory Lane at Daytona to defend his title followed by KHI’s No. 77, scoring KHI’s first one-two finish in the Nationwide Series. In 2007, Bobby Labonte scored the third restrictor-plate win for KHI by holding off teammate Stewart to win at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Stewart finished second, adding another one-two finish for KHI. Adding to their restrictor-plate success, KHI has claimed both superspeedway poles so far in 2009 (Harvick at Daytona and Ryan Newman at Talladega) and earned another strong second-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway with Ryan Newman behind the wheel.

CONGRATULATIONS RICK CARELLI: On July 3, 2009, Rick Carelli will be inducted into the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame at Irwindale Speedway in California. As a driver, Carelli earned the 1991 NASCAR Southwest Touring championship and the 1993 NASCAR Camping World Series West title, as well as raced in the NASCAR Truck Series.

These days Carelli is still at the track, just in a different role as General Manager for Kevin Harvick Incorporated and as spotter for three-time Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday.

Kevin Harvick

BEFORE THE RACE: QUOTES WITH DRIVER KEVIN HARVICK:

What does it means to drive the VFW car on July 4th weekend?

“It is going to be an honor to carry the red, white and blue colors of the VFW this weekend in Daytona. Hopefully I can give all the veterans something to cheer about when the green flag drops on Friday night.”

With the success at Daytona (winning the pole) and Talladega (winning the pole and Newman narrowly missing the win) early this year, how much confidence does that add heading into this weekend?

“Our speedway program here at KHI has always been good. Going back to Daytona this time around I feel a little more confidence when it comes to our car and its set up. Ernie Cope and the guys have done a great job this year putting Ryan (Talladega) and I (Daytona) on the poles for both restrictor plate races. Hopefully this time around we can put the No. 33 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) car into Victory Lane.”

What is different at Daytona during the July races compared to the races in February?

“The track gets hot and slick during the races in July and the handling characteristics become exaggerated. We are shooting for a good-handling race car, which can hopefully help put this Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) team into victory lane on the day Americans celebrate their Independence.”

CHASSIS HISTORY: The team will unload chassis No. 043 from the KHI stables this week for Harvick at Daytona International Speedway. This chassis was last on track at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway with Ryan Newman. Newman won the pole, led 21 laps and narrowly missed the victory to finish second. Previous to Talladega, this chassis was on track with Harvick for the 2009 season opener at Daytona International Speedway where Harvick won the pole, led four laps and finished the race 11th.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: For the final race of June, KHI co-owner Harvick climbed back into the No. 33 car to become the fourth different driver in four different races during the month. With a fast car, Harvick started the race from the fifth position, ran the entire race in the top eight and crossed the finish line in fifth place. The finish moved the No. 33 KHI team up one position to fifth in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Owner’s Point standings.

(May 24, 2009) — For Memorial Day weekend, Kevin Harvick and the No. 33 Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) team displayed the colors of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) as Harvick looked for his first Nationwide Series win at the track. Starting the race from the eighth position, Harvick struggled most of the night with the handling of the car and finished the rain-shortened event in the 23rd position, two laps down to race winner Mike Bliss.

Late afternoon rain in the Concord, N.C. area postponed the CARQUEST Auto Parts 300 until 9:00 p.m., and when the green flag waved, Harvick and the No. 33 VFW team quickly moved into seventh and into the fifth position by lap seven.

Running in the top 10, Harvick radioed crew chief Ernie Cope on lap 20 that the tires were chattering all the way through the corners. Fortunately, the caution flag waved on lap 24 with Harvick in the 10th position and the team was able to come down pit road for four tires, fuel, an air-pressure and trackbar adjustment and pull the left-rear rubber. With varying pit strategies among the top-running cars, Harvick restarted 17th on lap 29.

Continuing to run between 14th and 18th, Harvick told the team on lap 58 that the car would not turn in the corners and on lap 80 while running in the 18th position, Harvick was lapped by race leader Kyle Busch putting him one-lap down to the leaders. Two laps later Harvick pitted under green for four tires, fuel and an air-pressure adjustment. Following the cycle of pit stops, Harvick was in the 20th position, one lap down.

Fighting to remain in position to receive the lucky dog, Harvick continued to run 17th before making another scheduled green-flag pit stop on lap 149 for four tires, fuel and adjustments. Unfortunately, the fuel catch can was caught in the car when Harvick pulled out of the pit box resulting in a penalty for leaving the pit area with equipment.

On lap 161 following a quick caution, Harvick was scored in the 25th position, two laps down to the leaders. Making his way up to 23rd, rain began falling on the track on lap 168 and the race was red-flagged on lap 170. With NASCAR attempting to restart the race, the rain continued to fall and the CARQUEST Auto Parts 300 was called 30 laps short of the finish.

Mike Bliss won his second career Nationwide Series race, followed by rookie Brendan Gaughan, Kyle Busch, Brain Vickers and Joey Logano.
